Foreign Affairs / Zimmerman Again!! George Zimmerman In Custody After Gun Incident by Ellyptical: 9:45pm On Sep 09, 2013
George Zimmerman is being questioned by police after a domestic incident with his wife and father-in-law that may have involved a gun, according to police.

Zimmerman is being held at the home of a relative after the incident, which involved his wife, Shellie, and her father, Colin Morgan, police in Lake Mary, Fla., told ABC News. Police are investigating whether a gun found at the scene was used in the incident.

"There was some kind of a domestic, we know that with his wife and father-in-law. Apparently there were some weapons involved and threats," the deputy police chief in Lake Mary told ABC News.

Zimmerman has not been charged with any crime.

Shellie Zimmerman recently announced plans to divorce her husband, who was acquitted in July on murder charges related to the 2012 death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Her attorney told ABC News that Zimmerman pulled a knife on her today after she discovered a firearm in the house they shared. He then pulled a gun on his wife and her father after a verbal altercation, according to attorney Kelly Sims.

George Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Zimmerman was acquitted in July in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

After announcing plans to divorce him earlier this month, Shellie told ABC News in an exclusive interview on Friday that George was at times verbally abusive and hurt her "emotionally, but never physical" during their marriage. She also said she believes the not guilty verdict has left her husband feeling "invincible" and since then has been "making some reckless decisions."

"I think I'm realizing that I have been married to a person for almost seven years, and I don't think that I ever really knew him at all," she said.

Shellie said that she had stood by her husband throughout the ordeal that began on Feb. 26, 2012, when he shot and killed the unarmed teenager and came to an end when a Florida jury acquitted him of murder this summer.

But less than two months later, she filed for divorce.

"I stood by my husband through everything and I kind of feel like he left me with a bunch of broken glass that I'm supposed to now assemble and make a life. ... It's just heartbreaking," Shellie said.

"I have a selfish husband. And I think George is all about George," she said.

George Zimmerman's legal team declined to comment on the divorce proceedings.

This story is developing. Check back to ABC News for more updates soon.

Josh Margolin and Aaron Katersky contributed to this report.

Here are some really funny posts by some people on the ABC News website:

DaiQuan Cain Hmm. Maybe they'll take it seriously this time since he was in an altercation with white people.

Aaron Miller Is this guy the dumb ass of the year or what?

Ray Parks Zimmerman knows that if they divorce, she will share the truth about what he told her really happened that night with Travon. It's coming!!! Watch what I tell you it's coming.

Amber Horton Seriously? Once again he's being a "victim" ugh. Karma will bite you in the ass one day George.

Dorian Jones He just trying so hard to stay in the spotlight obviously this guy has a gun problem lock his ass up or will he has to be videoed killing somebody before y'all get the message

Peggy Ilias Maybe his father in law and wife looked suspicious. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Bianca M Gibb Is there double jeopardy on the stand your ground law? How many people does he actually get to shoot before that excuse is no longer valid?

Vern Vartdal That man does a lot of ground standing.

Tory Glenn and a gun was involved. Imagine that... What are the odds? I wonder if his wife and father-in-law "looked suspicious."

Amy Burton Not the first time and probably not the last.......Does anyone else find it interesting they had a fight and she left the night before he killed Trayvon? He has anger issues...

Christen Mcelvain He's been in trouble with the law too much outside of the trayvon case. Face it he's a bad seed!

Bob Flisser Give Zimmerman a break, he had no choice. His wife was wearing a hoodie, and his father-in-law had Skittles. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Anthonyd Smith Amazing how the "right people are defending his actions as self defense. Here's a grown man who took Brazilian Ju Jitsu at least 3 times a week yet got his ass kicked by a 17yr old (if its REALLY true). You are watching the slow, painful death of George Zimmerman. First the divorce, then the public pressure of being a guilty man in constant spotlight, then the.45 caliber breakfast in the bathroom like the coward he is. And none of his supporters can't do anything about it. Just get you a bag of popcorn, sit back and watch the show. It's gonna be a blast, literally.

Mehn,
Looking at the responses from the people applauding her for being smart, it becomes clear that a lot of people jump on the internet and post without looking at things multi-dimensionally. If the NDLEA wants the reckless, careless & controversial actress in jail, TONTO DIKE is done for (if she actually smokes weed)!
Let me tell you all why.
1) Marijuana contains some compounds commonly referred to as Cannabinoids or THC.
2) Once taken, Cannabinoids reside in your brain for a long time but most importantly, they reside in your hair for up to a month!
Her mistake (which of course has been her weakness from time immemorial) was in this case, acting without thinking. SHe posted those pictures or retweeeted them or whatever, thereby attracting the NDLEA attention to herself.
All they need to do is cut some hair samples, run some lab tests and boom! She's off to jail (if she ever took weed in the last month).
Quit saying she is smart if you don't know jack about drug testing please.

Hello, am sure you haven't listened to CYPHER , please do, VECTOR is the man any day, any time, infact, any where

Like I said, the delivery on the track is still weak. Over-complicated wordplay that takes away the class of the flow.
Sounds amateurish. Over-worded rap makes the flow loose direction. if a rapper leaves the beat, after a bar or two, return to the beat so that the flow doesn't get lost.
A teeny weeny advice that Vector could take.

SimplySEA: what non-sense! Can u compare dat rubbish wit d original? Com, which vector una de hype like dis? Shey another one de? Then compared with ice prince? I jus understand dat certain MCs tend to have more fans here dan in real world! Na so una de hype mode over rugged all along! U want word play, metaphors and punchlines? Listen to "f*ck you" by mi feat ice! Vector wey de count rap lik pry school pupil... Rubbish! Be comparing vector wit youngsix not ice! D young even pass am self!

Bro,
I thought I was the only one that was shocked at the way these people are hyping Vector over Ice Prince. Ice Prince is a very tight rapper. Lyrically, he's very strong but likes to stay commercial - hence the fact that he was the highest earning rapper in 2012.
Vector is no doubt a good lyricist but his delivery is poor and rather amateurish. Ice Prince on the other hand delivers like a professsional, but still keeps it simple.
What MEGA-HIT song does Vector have? His delivery is weak and as such, his very nice wordplay and all the technicalities that he overuses do not just sink in.
For Example:
Ice Prince on Reminisce's 'Joor' vs Vector and Tuface on Get Down. Vector's super-complicated and overtechnical rap didn't sound pleasing one bit. His poor delivery could not be salvaged by the complicated wordplay that appeared like a desperate effort to impress.
I personally would put Olamide ahead of Vector because of his delivery. Rap is not all about lyrics, if it were, you could as well ask Tupac and Eminem to go look for a career in poem-writing like Alexandre Dumas.

For me . . It's Ice Prince any day.

Go listen to his single 'More' which he released alongside 'Aboki' and then you will understand what it means for a rapper to intentionally keep it simple so as to stay commercial.

Most subscribed simply because some irresponsible government officials have refused to implement number portability ( a system where I can keep my 0803 number and switch to Glo or Airtel).
We need to start a movement to compel the NCC to implement this number portability. News has it that some Telcos have been bribing heavily to make sure this does not get implemented.

Peeps, A few logical facts to be laid out. It is left for the reader to put the facts together and arrive at his/her conclusion.

1) Kidnapping is a vice that has ravaged the south-east. Something that no south-easterner is proud of.

2) Kidnapping is rare in the south-west. This is something quite commendable.

3) Kidnappers from the South-East will not go to Osun state and of all people to kidnap, kidnap the speaker's wife. Even in the south-east, such herculean stunts were not carried out.

4) This kidnap was politically motivated by some people in the Osun State house (south-westerners) - news filtering out has been confirming this.

5) If this is the case, then I think we should look inward and find out the people who "invited" kidnappers to the south-west. The choice of mercenaries (igbos) is simply because as earlier stated, the south-easterners are already into this disgraceful act and definitely would have been able to execute better.

The origin of the kidnap is traceable to the South-West. . .. Your Politicians.

That said, it's still shameful seeing Igbos associated with such vices.
Obrigado.

L+G,
What about number portability? It has been ages since we started hearing of plans to implement this and up till date nothing has been done about this.
Number portability refers to a system in which I can keep my 0803 number and switch to Glo this week, and move to Etisalat next week if Glo pisses me off.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-75102.0.html

I recall that Etisalat pushed for this when they came into the Nigerian market but I suspect foul play. Some gainers in the number monopoly may have exchanged bags to shoot this idea down. I will wait for Wikileaks to shed light on this.
This same MTN that said that per second billing could only begin 3 years after their operation in Nigeria but quickly started per second billing when Glo kicked off is my main suspect. I wont be surprised if i hear that MTN has been bribing to make sure that this number portability never sees the light of day.
Must every good thing for the masses be shot down by these greedy multinationals? Must the NCC show how much of a weakling it is by allowing these companies to get away with the story of lack of infrastructures for the portability project?
To make things clearer, Nigeria is one of the Largest and most profitable GSM markets in the world. MTN had 30M subscribers in 2009. This is more than the total population of Ghana! How much more profit do these greedy companies need before they can admit that they can afford whatever infrastructure they need for the number portability?
Can someone please initiate a petition to the senate committee on Communication and the NCC?
Thanks.

Good Move by Fashola. This is highly commendable.
I have one question though. Does it mean that without the government driven PPP that industries cannot naturally spring up in Lagos?
Take for example the new Automobile Manufacturing Plant in Nnewi, Anambra that was just commissioned by GEJ. It is solely owned the private sector. NO GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT. That is what a capitalist system is known for. Mecerdes, Toyota, Sony, General Electric are not Public Private Patnerships (PPP). They are strictly owned by capitalists.
The government is no known to run companies well. Their involvement in General Motors was already highly criticized.
Does it mean that as large as Lagos is, there are no individual that can help industrialize the state further?
Trust me, A HUGE LOT of the profit from here will go back to Egypt whereas 100% of the profit from Innoson Motors will stay in Anambra!
Good Move like I said, Lagosians have woken up no doubt but they need to Wake Up further.

We are all aware that one of the most corrupt former military rulers who spear-headed and ushered in the era of looting the nation's treasury and stashing the loots in Swiss banks is planning to make a comeback to the presidency.
It will be nice to see a cross section of the opinions of the average Nigerian youth. This poll is not intended to portray who we want as the next president but rather to get an idea of the level of detest that the youths have for IBB.
Vote Now.

How come when it comes to making choices like not wanting be part of Nigeria, all of a sudden the freedom of choice making disappears?

How come when it comes to posting one's views on 'One Nigeria', the freedom to express one's voice disappears and threads are all of a sudden locked?

I smell a hypocrite here. Get a straight life.

kosovo:

Yeah, it may be . . . Every one has to make choices, they have made theirs, and no one should think his or her choice is superior to the others, cos that kind of thinking is what has kept humanity in it's pathetic state . . .

Yes. Because we know' death sentence' do not solve any problem.

USA has death sentence and Uk does not.

You will expect more murders going in UK, no we have more in same USA.

Nigeria has death sentence for armed robbery, but our armed robbery rate has growing tripple since 80s.

While it may appear brilliant to make flat comparisons, it may also be wise to remember that crime rate is a function of population. The US has a population of over 400million. The UK has a population that is less that the South-West of Nigeria alone.
If you apply the relationship, you may be surprised that the UK has a far more higher crime rate than the US.
I am not in anyway trying to say that death sentence is the solution. I am just trying to clear the air about the remark on crime rate.
Nigeria's case is of the charts. We do not have a functional crime-fighting system so I would not comment on our case. But remember that our population has also exploded over the years. SA has a terrible crime rate because for their 'little' population, the level of crime is off the charts. Same as Jamaica.

Sorry Dude,
Anyway, I hope you know that if you did pay in money into a bank account that you can get your money back. All you need to do is get a police report and walk up to the bank to inform them that you had been duped. Having worked in a bank before I know that we do this very often.
The financial control department of the bank will place an alert on the account. Once any cashier/teller nationwide tries to transact on that account, an alert pops up saying (Arrest and Detain). The teller then asks the person to step over the counter to sign some non-existent form and viola! . . .the dude is arrested.
Since the stuff happened today, all you can do is act fast to make sure you get the alert thing all set up before the money is withdrawn, that's if it has not already been withdrawn.

Act fast man! Act fast! For a start you can even get at least the name of the account holder from the bank.

PS: the only problem is how to prove that you were duped by this guys since there is not evidence of any sort. . .save for the phone call sad

"Starvation is a legitimate weapon of war, and we have every intention of using it against the rebels, "
Mr Alison Ayida, Head of Nigerian Delegation, Niamey Peace Talks, Republic of Niger, July 1968) "

All is fair in war, and starvation is one of the weapons of war. I don't see why we should feed our enemies fat in order for them to fight harder."
Chief Obafemi Awolowo (Nigerian Minister of Finance, July 28th 1969) " ,

And to think that Awolowo is held in high esteem by some people even with his genocidal statement baffles me. This was a man who said 'If the Igbos are allowed to Secede then we too will secede. How directionless can a man be? How unresolute can a man be?
How can you be so unsure of whether you want to form your own nation or not, that you tie the emergence of something as important as a nation, to another man's struggle? Why no state decisively if you are seceding or not rather than tie your actions to the outcome of the struggle by the Igbos.

Politics / On Nairaland, Seun And Freedom Of Expression by Ellyptical: 2:25pm On Mar 14, 2010
Seun and Nairalanders,

there appears to be some form of schism on nairaland between the posters who apparently oppose the idea of one Nigeria and the moderators (Seun inclusive) who are vehemently against it.
Take a look at this thread :

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-412994.0.html

After reading the thread, I observed that the typical domineering, dictatorial nature of the typical African dictator may be lurking even exposed, polished young people in this internet age, that are expected to be messiahs of the Nigeria that they fastidiously cling to. Again, I went ahead asked myself a few questions.

1) Would Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook shut a thread because the opinions of the posters are not in direct sympathy with his?
2) If I were to create a group today on hi5 or some other online forum that viciously insults the creator of hi5, would he shut the group down?
2) Does the fact that a person created an online forum mean that every one must fall into his line of reasoning?

While I am known on this forum for a logical and constructive approach to issues it is still worthwhile to note that I am not in anyway trying to insult Seun.

I read a pathetic feeble effort by Kosovo to defend the a glaring infringement in freedom of expression by the administrators of the forum. An extract from it is copied below :

"2. Seun has the right to do what so ever he deemed right to the forum, especially when it's against the spirit of the Forum, the privileges of the Administrator is well documented and contained in the Act of an Administrator."

With respect to kosovo's statement, I see a person who pays allegiance to a senior authority simply because he has been placed in some form of seat of power forgetting that with power comes the responsibility to question the issues that the power is used upon.
I asked myself again
1) If Kosovo were to be one of YarAdua's men, would he have been bold enough to tell YarAdua to resign in the face of obvious incapacitation? Or would he (like Aondoakaa) have told us that 'The decision to transmit to the senate was a matter of the president's choice and that he can rule from anywhere'?
I see a mini YarAdua saga playing out on the forum and men and brethren, the responses from the so-called younger generation are not in anyway encouraging.

The most shameful aspect of Kosovo's retort was when he justified the recent actions of using the admin privileges to subdue opposing views by drawing an analogy with the 'obnoxious government policies' that Channels TV fell victim to. In his opinion, if the government could bully channels TV, why can't Seun ban any thread that opposes his views?
L+G, we have moderators telling us that 'after all, as powerful as channels was, they were bullied by the government! . . .the future is bleak with the crop of youths we have today! This is a clear case of justifying and wrong action with another worse action.

Seun, Once again remember this. An online forum is a discussion board. Rules and moderation can be put in place. But in no way is it right to use the power of ownership to attack or subdue discussions that do not fall into your own viewpoint.
You know, it may show to some extent that if you were to be some governor or president tomorrow and the masses protest against you, you may resort to the use of power withing your confines to forcefully subdue the voice of the people. Young lad, that is the painful and bitter truth. In the United States, I can go on TV and tell everyone why Obama is the wrongest person ever and still walk home free. It is called freedom
If Yourself cannot exhibit the mature, first-class democracy style leadership in the small country you run (Nairaland) then what do you even have to offer to the One Nigeria that you profess?

The future is bleak dudes . . .so bleak. The fellows fighting to keep the nation together do no even have the character to lead us in the western style democracy that we all long for.

I am not against the recent moderation of language and the substitution of profane words for milder ones. That is the whole idea of decency. Substituting the words while retaining the message. But the idea of trying to substitute idea and the message? Dang! Again, it's unfortunate that like YarAdua, Seun is surrounded by people who may be seen by some as shallow-minded. People whose defence for their bosses wrong action is to ask whether we know how he suffered to build the forum.

Read My Lips Seun . . . Continue to meddle with freedom of expression and watch yourself create the fall of a forum you laboured had to create.
Ask Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook on this issue. If his advice to you on this issue is way out of mine, do then as you please on any post you come across on you forum.

Obrigado.

After Awolowo' policy that every biafran be left with 20 naira irrespective of how much you had in the bank before the war, the Ikwerres vehemently denounced being igbo and went as far as renaming towns like umuigbo, umuola, umukurushi to Rumuigbo, Rumuola, Rumukurushi.
However, the delta-igbos did not. Probably in a honour of Kaduna Nzeogwu who was from the Igbo part of delta state.
Go and tell an Asaba man today that he is not Igbo. If he is phlegmatic, he will only leave you with a slap. There was a campaign last time by the delta-igbos that they should not be called the 'delta-igbos' while others are called the core Igbos. Their argument is that they are equally as Igbo as the SE states. . . .an argument which ought not to be an argument because it is the plain truth - THEY ARE IGBO AND THEY DO NOT DENY IT!

It's a shame that after they denied being Igbos, the Igbos who were left to become paupers are today the richest people around

When I see people rejoice because Obi won, I wonder if the people value development against enemity. I detest PDP a lot but I would have loved to see Soludo or at least Ngige take the seat. The masses have been blinded by their hatred for PDP that they rather went for a poor performer.

Obi has ruled the stated for four years and has shown that he has little or nothing in terms of ideas. Development has been slowpaced or better put, stagnated and all we hear is excuses as to why this or that cannot be achieved.

I strongly do not believe this election was free and fair. Even if the people wanted to punish the PDP, Obi would not have been the option. Ngige would have been the option.
Anambra has traded some real progress that would have come from Ngige or Soludo for mediocre leadership, just in a bid to revenge.
In the long run, the state will lose/regret.
This is a sad day for any broad minded Anambrarian. 4 years of meaningful development have gone down the drain.
