babapupa:
It's still my believe that Igbo people really don't know what they want, they didn't know hence nothing was done to develop the east back in the regional government days when Zik was the premier. The west under Awolowo as we all know did a lot to develop the west and one thing you guys can not say is "Awolowo betrayed ZIK and prevented him from developing the east"

Biafra or no Biafra, your leaders didn't rose to the occasion when provided the opportunity develop the region under the regional set up when each region was in control of it's own destiny an my question remains, who do you have to blame for that? Awolowo and the Yoruba people?

The regional set up clearly displayed each regions capabilities, vision, hopes and desires, sense of leadership and administration, man power and resource management, social programs like free education, pensions and health care and ultimately, industrialization.

So, some folks in the east refused to question their leaders and demand accountability, instead, they did exactly what they are doing today, they blamed and pointed fingers at other folks beyond their borders.

How do you develop your cities, towns and villages by ignoring it and developing other people's land that you have little or no control of at the end of the day?

How do you go around bragging that you own other people's land when yours is underdeveloped and washing away? Where is the wisdom and common sense in that.

As we see on NL, the so called Igbo leaders of tomorrow are sadly making the same mistakes with the same distractions and inability to circle the wagon and look inwards, to do their own thing instead of focusing and paying too much attention to silly and mundane stuff about other people. Talking about other people and how Awo betrayed you is not gonna develop an inch of Igbo land bd ut continue to brew more distractions and vicious circle to be fed to future generations of Igbo kids.

Leaders make decisions for their people. Awo made decisions for Yoruba people and rightly looked after the interest of Yoruba people, ZIK made decisions on behalf of the the Igbo people to do business with the North and to my understanding, he goofed monstrously as the president, Also as the premier and in my opinion, he fell short, You can not do business with the north and come out on top. Unfortunately, they are still doing business with the North. They did in the first republic with ZIK, in the second with Ekwueme as the vice president and in the 3rd as major office holders in the corridors of power. The fact is, what ever you blame you dish out to other people, save some for your leaders because they've always been part of the same rot you try as much as possible to blame other people for. Biafra is only the poor mans guilt trip because none of your leaders is interested in Biafra and what it stood for, it's nothing but a source of distraction and bait and switch.

Let's not fool ourselves, Igbo people can not have it both ways, you rightfully fought for Biafra because it was your own thing, not Oduabiafra so stop acting as if Awo or the Yoruba people owe you anything. War has consequences when you lose and it has benefits when you win, These are the colorful tapestries of war. And as much as some of you like to talk about Yoruba people and their convictions to fight, the fact is, of all the groups in Nigeria, Yoruba folks fought the system, they've spent time in jail and risked their lives more than any other groups in Nigeria and they sacrificed their sons and daughters from  Gani to Fela, Fela's mother died fighting the system, Dele Giwa, Bola Ige, Abiola, Kudirat Abiola, hundreds of demonstrating students lost their lives in the 70s and 80s, and today, they are still out their fighting the system from Falana to Wole Shoyinka and Pastor Bakare,

My question is, how many Igbo leaders are out there fighting the system today? How many of them have spent time in Jail? How many leaders have you lost? Today, Yoruba leaders and people are on the ground protesting, not siting somewhere writing meaningless jargons at a safe/distance location.

You can talk about your delusional Awo this and Yoruba that, the facts Yoruba people are moving ahead and your leaders don't give a damn, they are part of the same looting system and the last think on their minds is the worn out, tired and meaningless little rants that you guys spew on NL.

Talk is cheap, we know the facts.
Babapupa,
Like you said, talk is cheap. I also encourage you to know the facts too! The eastern region DEVELOPED tremendously during the regional set-up as you call it. You will recall that the regional set-up was the period shortly after the war, when we were putting the pieces back together. If my sense of reasoning serves me right, you would not expect someone who is still trying to pick up the pieces (the east-siders :-) ) to compete with someone who is already consolidating (the west-siders). But today, VIOLA! The people who are picking up the pieces have a stronger better economy that the people who are supposed to have moved far ahead. Why? Because of the natural resilience of the east-siders.

The last economic analysis that was culled from a newspaper and posted on this forum put the poverty rate of the south east at 26% and that of the south west at 43%. Now remember that these were a people whom Awolowo deliberately coined the 20-Pound policy to frustrate and forestall the economic dominance that the east-siders had be fore the war from re-occuring. Unfortunately he failed to realize that in-born instinct supersedes artificial manipulation. The inborn nature of the east-siders that makes them naturally hardworking people has reversed the trend back to what it was before the war, with respect to the economic empowerment of each region.

Coming to education now, we all know that before the war the east-siders controlled education. The NYSC was introduced after the war because the teachers in the north were mostly east-siders, who fled the north during the war, leaving the schools with no teachers. The first Vice Chancellor of the first university in Nigeria (UI) was Professor Kenneth Dike. A library named after him still exists till date in University of Ibadan. During the war, Awolowo tried to ensure that he pushed the westerners to dominate education. It was definitely a commendable initiative since it did not involve trying to undo another region (as was the case in with his 20 pound policy). He succeeded, but because the quest for education was not particularly inborn in the west-siders, the tables turned quickly and today, every available statistics has shown that the east-siders have overtaking the academic sector once again.

Need I say more? Can the east-siders be ejected out of Lagos today without the economy of Lagos groaning heavily? Whilee our leaders may not have done the best in terms of developing the region, the natural resilience of the east-siders more than compensates for all we may have lost in that area.

PS:Pemit my use of the term 'east/west-siders'. I decided to be a bit casual today :-)

General brutalises IG’s in-law at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja
By Rotimi Akinwumi Correspondent, Abuja

• Victim set to sue Arik Airline

http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jan/8/401.html

A Nigerian resident in the United States, who was beaten by soldiers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on Sunday has concluded arrangement to sue Jacob Olajide, a retired Brigadier General, who ordered his maltreatment.

He also plans to sue Arik Airline for complicity.

Uche Onyeanusi, brother in-law to the Inspector General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo, was beaten into coma by two soldiers on alighting from Arik flight W3161 which he boarded in Lagos.

Onyeanusi told Daily Independent that disagreement broke out between him and Olajide where they queued along with other intending passengers to buy flight tickets at the Arik counter in Lagos.

Onyeanusi said he came to Nigeria to spend the holidays with his relatives and attend to other issues.

He narrated that he incurred the wrath of Olajide when he prevented him from jumping the queue, a challenge which led to an exchange of words between them, during which Olajide threatened to deal with him severely on their arrival in Abuja.

Onyeanusi said Olajide’s aides descended on him and gave him the beating of his life immediately he disembarked from the plane. Other passengers looked on in awe as he was being pummelled.

An eyewitness who was on the flight, Michael Ihemaguba, a medical practitioner also based in the U.S. (and an American citizen like Onyeanusi), said he was surprised that a policeman at the scene prevented him (Ihemaguba) and others from rescuing the victim.

Well . .In the case of a referendum, it's the secessionist that votes, not the rest of the country. I am trying to draw a random sample with this. The page has not got enough publicity. This is evident in the number of views and replies. I need to see the input of the ND people.

Vote No
South South/Edo/Esan North East.
I believe in the youths of this nation that are bein raised the hard way there is actually strength in our diversity.
At an age older than we are America Fought a civil war some wanted to go alone but 2day they are 2geda nd stronger. Up til the 60s there was stil discriminations against the blacks in their midst even today racists stil exist in America but a black man is President.
Even within the divisions people are killing each other even within families brothers kill brothers over land, inheritance, money and what have you.
If Adams can bcom gov of Edo and a Fashola cld emerge in Lagos nd the nation could shoot down the 3rd term agenda with time we wil get it right it may not be in my life time but one day we would surely get there
Marvix,
You made a point. The American civil war was fought at a time when the nation was almost 100 years old. However, you fail to see the big picture. What was the cause of the Biafran war and what was the cause of the Amercan civil war?
You cannot use apple tree as a yardstick for analysing how oranges grow and expect to make a good analysis. The american civil war was a selfless war. The south did not want slave trade to be abolished and decided to opt out of the nation so that they could continue with slave trade. Abraham Lincoln stepped in and that was the war. Four years after the war, the defeated south was reintegrated fully into government.
In the case of Biafra, some people up-north felt that some 'infidels' deserve to die. Over 10,000 Igbos were killed in cold blood even before the war. How then can you compare the two?
Again, there was the American civil war and that was it. In the case of Nigeria, the very thing that caused the war (jihad and uprisings in the north) is still plaguing us till today even as I type (Jos). It has refused to end and there is no sign that it will end in the near future.
There are HUGE ideological, social, religious and cultural differences between the north and the south in Nigeria and such gulfs hardly exist in advanced/advancing nations. We are talking of country where the people in the south were calling the US after 9/11 to find out if their loved ones were affected and the people up north were carrying pictures of Osama and jubilating.
We are talking of a country that the people up-north finish prayers in the mosque and scream 'Allah Hakubar' and start slicing people's throats.
We are talking of people who cut open a pregnant womans stomach, bring out her foetus and crush it with their feet during they Kaduna crisis.
We are talking of people who cut of Gideon Akaluka's head, placed it on a pole and were running around the streets jubilating.
Mr Man,
Can't you see the huge ideological difference? Is there any sign that it will get better? Does it look to you like there will be a time the north will opt to stop sharia law and respect the fact that we are a secular nation?
Does it not look to you like the decision of Abacha to register Nigeria in the Organisation of Islamic Conference is plot to Islamise Nigeria?
Nigeria's case is peculiar and the earlier you accept that, the better.
It has never been in record that a nation was plagued with Islamic Extremist uprisings and later overcame them. No! It never ends, it only gets worse.
Please stop comparing apples with oranges. You will make erroneous conclusions.
Nigeria is not one. Accept that simple truth . . .
. . . . Oh! Sorry . .maybe you have not lost someone in the north before. I pray you do not wait for that to happen before you see the big picture.

Obrigado.

L+G,
After seeing this, some cold-blooded individuals will still argue and hesitate when you talk about separating the country to avoid the mixture of Muslims and Christians. The idea of secession will ultimately save lives and make every fraction gear up to make sure that no one outshines the other.
I still maintain my stand. Secession may not solve the problem of corruption, but it will definitely solve the problem of incessant loss of lives and properties . . which is the ultimate thing.
If Nigeria is divided
1) Christians will have no business going to the North for NYSC only to be killed by the people you came to 'serve'.
2) Christians working in institution will not get transferred to the north because the South and the North will be two separate countries.

Food for thought.

NB: After this post, we will still see some shallow-minded people argue against dividing the nation . . .watch and see.

Corruption is not as bad as religious intolerance. Corrupt People steal money. Radicals KILL!!

IMHO I think Nigeria should be divided so that the loss of lives will be done with. After that, we can now face the second on the list - corruption.

I have noticed on countless occasions that the average Yoruba man is always afraid of taking decisive action. They exhibit this lilly-livered behavior and always chicken out in the last minute when courage is most needed.
Here we are with someone asking if we are going to be happier apart. Even if we will not be happier apart, is it not worth the lives that will be saved by the division? If Biafra had been formed in 1966 would the countless lives that were lost in the 62 different religious clashes that have happened between 2000 and date?
http://www.modernghana.com/news2/260135/1/62-cases-of-mass-islamic-terrorism-unleashed-on-ni.html

Mr Man,
Live is the important thing. If the division will put an end to the loss of lives, please go for it. Learn to priorities issues. I am still amazed that if this were to be a house (let's say senate or reps) someone will argue against division on the grounds that 'we cannot tell if we will be happier apart'. Even if we cannot tell, for 49 years we have been together and unhappy. Why not try something different?
A popular saying has it that madness is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result . . . food for thought.

@ Sun of God,
I understand the fear of inherent in the other parts of Nigeria, when it comes to Igbos. They are just too successful and progressive for your understanding.
One mistake you must never make is concluding that Igbos are invasive and possesive. That is not our stye and has never been. The hausas are the ones known to be very possesive and invasive. If you doubt it, ask the Jos natives (the beroms and the langtangs) who are currently struggling with hausa nomads over the ownership of jos - their motherland.
The Biafra will not one day wake up and invade and overrun anyone. We are christians and will never do that.

Like I said on another post, i seroiusly feel sory for the christians in the middle belt. The hausas will have no opposition in the senate of Arewa while passing Sharia as a national law. After that, jihads and mass killings will become the order of the day in Benue and Plateau states which are predominantly christian.
By the time Gowon (who is from Plateau and is a christian) is seeing his home being burnt down like they are doing now in Jos, he will be helpless since there will be no christian majority in the south to scream blue murder.
I see Ojukwu asking him, 'Gowon, should we come rescue from those you fought for is 1967? . . . Ha ha! Well . . Live with the consequences of your actions.'

Igbos are peaceful. We did not start the war. We only declared a republic to defend ourselves and Nigeria declared war and launched an offensive against us.
Obrigado.

The news has it that Sudan will hold a referendum for the south to secede after votes are cast and the majority of the votes from the seceding  south, are in favour of the division.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Sudanese_independence_referendum,_2011

Going by the agitation and instability in Nigeria today, one may say that the division of Nigeria is near. However, once would always love to imagine that it would be peaceful, though we know it may not.
In the actual practice, only the people who are agitating for secession are allowed to vote if they want to pull out of the nation (like was the case in Canada's Quebec) but since we cannot censor the states of origin of the people on the forum, it would be thrown open.

Vote for the secession of Nigeria into the following nations
1) Arewa Republic
2) Republic of Biafra
3) Niger Delta Republic
4) Oduduwa Republic

After Voting, please drop your geopolitical zone, State of Origin, Region (town or village withing your state) and and the country you will belong to.
Use the format below.
e.g

South South/Delta/Asaba/Biafra or

South South/Rivers/Bonny/Niger Delta Republic or

South East/Anambra/Onitcha/Biafra or

North West/Sokoto/Sokoto/Arewa or

South West/Lagos/Epe/Oduduwa

If you vote against secession, please also drop your details but you do not need to drop the country i.e
e.g.
South West/Lagos/Epe

Nice!
Though I think it will/should be like this

The Islamic Republic of Arewa with capital in Abuja
Niger Delta Republic - Niger delta with capital in Port-Harcort*
Biafra - with the capital somewhere within the eastern states
Oduduwa Republic with capital in Lagos*

*The Niger Delta will likely not want to take Edo State along. Edo will dangle in-between but will be pushed to Oduduwa.

*I just pity Gowon (Plateau) and the Benue people. The hausas with their oppressive.invasive nature will invade and jihadise their towns and cities like they are currently doing in Jos and their will be no Christian majority in the south to scream blue murder. By then the easterners will look at Gowon (who is s Christian) with his house being burnt by jihadists and tell him 'Should we come and fight them for you? . . . he he'

While I do not pray that this is true, I would not be surprised if this is actually the truth.

Medically speaking, once oxygen supply to the brain is cut off, it takes about 5 minutes for the brain cells to start dying.

Stroke is a consequence of an abrupt interruption of blood flow to the brain. When the blood supply stops, the nerve cells that are directly deprived of oxygen quickly die and release the chemicals that they use to communicate with each other. One of these neurotransmitters - glutamate - spreads to surrounding cells and sets off a process called excitotoxicity, causing much more widespread cell death. Glutamate triggers a flood of calcium ions into the cells and, for reasons not previously understood, the level of calcium continues to rise and this kills the neurons.

Some of the reports have it that he suffered a stroke while others have it that he might suffered a heart attack, since he has been having issues with his heart and kidney. Both stroke and heart attack affect the brain.
Once a brain cell dies, it cannot be replaced. Brain cells are not replaceable.
The Flight that took him from Abuja to Saudi Arabia was not a five minute flight but a 5 hour flight!

General Brutalises IG’s In-law At Abuja Airport

• Victim Set To Sue Arik Airline

By Rotimi Akinwumi Correspondent, Abuja

He recounted that Onyeanusi ran into the office of the State Security Service (SSS) when he was pursued by the soldiers, but the door of the office was forced open by the soldiers as the lone female SSS operative in the office attempted shutting the door against them.
Ihemaguba said he and other passengers had to risk their lives to save him from being beaten to death, as they rushed and held the two soldiers when one of them took a bottle and was about to smash it on the head of Onyeanusi who lay on the ground bloodied and unconscious.
The soldiers took Olajide’s luggage and left the airport without anybody arresting them after Olajide had identified himself as a Brigadier General to airport security personnel.
The incident was caught on tape by the airport security, and was reported to the airport police.
Onyeanusi was revived by Ihemaguba and the airport medical team.
Arik employees who witnessed the incident made statements to the SSS before proceeding to the police station.
However, efforts by the police to unravel the true identity of the soldiers for prosecution are being impeded by Arik and the airport security, both of which refused to co-operate with the police officer investigating the case.
Arik reportedly told the officer that it is not bound by law to release its passenger manifest through which the name of Olajide could be ascertained.
The airport security also allegedly refused to release the video tape of the incident.
It was learnt that the military Commandant at the airport has been shown the tape and has identified the culprit but refused to disclose the true identity of Olajide.
After watching the tape, he told Onyeanusi and the police that the name of the General was wrong, but confirmed that the man is no longer in service .
Calls made to the commandant’s mobile telephone line were picked by his aide who said his boss was not available for comment.
It was learnt that the policeman investigating the case made an official application to the airport security to release the tape, but the request was denied.
Pressure is being mounted on Onyeanusi to drop the case as he was told to see some serving senior Army officers who are prepared to settle the matter amicably.
But he has refused to bulge, and stated his readiness to pursue the matter to a logical conclusion by getting a lawyer to sue Arik for failing to release the passenger manifest to the police.
He said he will also report the incident to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria.
However, Arik Spokesman, Banji Ola, argued that the airline should not be blamed because it did not have control over what happened on the tarmac.
He also said for security reasons, Arik cannot be compelled by individuals to release its passenger manifest.
In line with international standards, only the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) or the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) can compel an airline to release its passenger manifest, Ola explained.

Innoson Vehicles Make Grand Debut At Nnewi Auto Fair

By Oladunjoye Phillip, Snr Correspondent, Lagos

• Innoson Vehicles on display

Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM) has said that for the 11days that the 2nd Nnewi International Auto Trade Fair lasted, its stand ceaselessly received inquisitive and excited visitors, who were attracted to its range of automobiles staging their very first public outing since news filtered out that the company was building “truly made-in-Nigeria vehicles”.

The company said it was a befitting debut for the vehicles as guest after guest, including the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Humphrey Enemakwu Abah, Anambra Deputy Governor, Dame Virgy Etiaba, Ikechukwu Obiora, C.I.D. Maduabum, Igwe Keneth Orizu, the Director General of the National Automotive Council, Dr. Aminu Jalal, and the Director-General of Consumer Protection Council, commended the quality of the new products.

Innoson said it displayed about eight vehicles at the Beverly Hills Hotel/Gabros International Stadium venue of the fair. The vehicles, it said included a luxury bus, two midi buses, two mini buses, two pick-ups and a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), all of which were fully air-conditioned with fine interior execution.

It explained that the 39-seater (37+1+1) inter-city bus has a six-gear transmission, a tank with capacity to take 245 litres of diesel and high fidelity music system featuring CD/DVD players sand radio, adding that the bus earned for itself a lot of inquiries with some of the visitors insisting on driving it home from the venue preparatory to deploying it to the Lagos route.

The company said the midi buses, which are fondly called Mini Luxury at the stand, like the bigger sibling, have leather seats (26 in all), and are driven by a powerful engine and a five-speed manual gear.

It also explained that the double cabin pick-up with model number 1021A3 run eon petrol with a five-speed transmission system, while the interior is air-conditioned to enhance occupants comfort with a provision for radio/cassette sound system, while the 14-seater mini buses also have radio/cassette player.

The company said the only (midi size) SUV in the range, which is christened Explore II, is configured to seat five passengers, but the arrangement could be altered to take as many as five without compromising comfort and has a fuel tank capacity of 70 litres of petrol.

Welcoming both the Minister of State Commerce and Industry and the Anambra Deputy Governor into the ambience of the luxury bus, during a tour of the Innoson stand, the Chairman /Chief Executive Officer of the Innoson Group of Companies, Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma, informed the guests that the vehicles were truly Nigerian products, because aside the engine, chassis and some basic components, most of the parts were sourced locally and the vehicles built in Nnewi by Innoson.

He said, for instance, the body components were fabricated and stamped by Innoson, while a substantial level of the local content was sourced from among the many automotive parts companies in Nnewi.

Impressed with what they saw and in appreciation of the efforts of the industrialist and businessman, both Abah and Etiaba poured commendations on him.

“I am happy to hear that most of the parts are made in Nigeria. I want to urge all Nigerians and government institutions and others to patronize made-in-Nigeria, especially products like these,” the Minister said.

Shuffling his legs as he spoke, the Minister particularly commended the ample leg room between each row of seats, which is a very important factor considered by many a traveler in choosing the buses to board for long distance trips. He advised Chukwuma not to limit the scope of his market to Nigeria, but also target the ECOWAS countries, because the vehicles has what it takes to do well in the international market.

Earlier while responding to remarks by the Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Abah had congratulated Innoson for “the wonderful feat” of producing the vehicles in Nnewi.

He said: “In the past, only government could set up an assembly plant. For an industrialist to do this calls for celebration and support. We will go back (to Abuja) to look for various ways to support this great enterprise”. One of the ways government will support the venture, it was learnt, would be to grant it tax holiday and maybe (according to a top official in the ministry) recommend zero tariff on CKD sets.

Chukwuma disclosed that orders had been placed for buses; an indication that it has been a successful debut for the range which, according to him, would be expanded later with more models.

He said a dealership and service network was being developed gradually; adding that for now, any buyer has the assurance of a reliable after-sales back-up from his company wherever he is located in the country.

He said price is one of the biggest advantages the IVM-badged vehicles have over its competing brand.

“Our vehicle will be by far more affordable, without any compromise on quality standards,” the Innoson Chairman stated.

Here we go again! This is totally PRIVATE without a dime of government support.
Things we would have been doing long ago if we had seceeded :-(

Politics › Re: Regional Poverty In Nigeria- North, South-West Worse Hit by Ellyptical: 4:41am On Dec 27, 2009
L+G,
All those who say that mass migration is an explanation for the low poverty levels in the east need to have a rethink. The south-easterners constitute the highest number of enterpreneurs in Lagos state. The transaction value generated from the Internanational Trade centre, Alaba and Computer village is valued at over a billion a day. What then about the large scale enterprenuers like Coscharis Motors, ABC Transport, Ekene, Ibeto group, Innosson, Ogbuawa?
Have you ever wondered about the fact that on the list of the top 10 richest nigerians, there is hardly any Igbo person? That tells you that we have distributed wealth. A sign synonymous with a good economy. In the east, everyone is at least comfortable.
It has been seen that the south east actually contributes to the below-50% poverty rate in the south west. If the south easterners in the south west were to pull out their investments in the west and return it to the east, the poverty level in the east will fall below 20% and the South-West will join their northern brothers in above-50% poverty rates. The south east actually helps the west stay afloat.
Food for thought.

Ouch
imensah59:
You guys are really funny, you no.?

You sit as nation for pirates to come and hijack a tanker in your own waters. I  off Lagos Coast.  And your so called million thousand plus trop navy  had no idea how to protect your coasts? If this happened in Ghana, the navy boss would be jobless by this morning.
There's one thing I no. and That's Ghana have systems and  the systems do work,  I'm sorry but that's what you guys don't have and should be worrying about. Any honest Nigerian who have been in Ghana will tell you the system work in Ghana. Do you know Ghana  bought aba 80 Destroyer warships and aba 100 helicopters to add to logistics of the Navy for patrols on the coast 2 years ago?  For your info. we don't even have cults in your schools  who only graduate to be militants and post graduates to be pirates. We don't operate such system like you guys. Its understandable why your students will even kill to gain admissions into Ghana Schools if for notin, they  no when they will be graduating before they even start unlike in nig. where unversitiies closes down due to strikes like its part of the academic year just like 2months ago. its really bad for govrn. officials to be using your population as excuse for their inability to establish systems and make then work as it will only multiply. Forsite is the problem with most afrian nation. Ghana went through energy crises 5 to 6 yrs ago and power had to rationed area by area. it was hell even though it was a planned and prior notices were given in days advance. Ghanaians are not used to having lights turned off like you guys even when its planed. People don;t even no what was power generators until that time, but I guess every house in nig. has  one. for the short term measure the previous govern. bought 3 power generating ships that generated power and supplied to towns and cities from the coasts to the middles of the country. And the 2 main dams whose water low water level caused the problem( biggest man made lake in the world)  now supplied the middle to the top. and it took only six months for things to be back to normal. For the longtime , 3 new dams are being constructed, started by the previous goven. and being finished by the current. 2 new thermal generating plants are at completion and guess what, are being powered by gas bought  from nig. of which nig. has plenty but doesn't no what to do wit it though the west African gas pipeline. Both plants uses both gas and crude, So it will still run when nig. gas finishes. and did I add that just 1 is enough to power the whole of Port harcourt ?.LOL With  the water level very high in the 2 main dams now. Ghana has resume selling power to Togo and Benin, we will not mind  adding nigeria as we have plenty than we can use. or maybe rent the navy's power generating ships to you guys.
I Love people and have friends who visit me just like I visits  them in Lagos , PH , Benin city, abuja and bayelsa( land of hope) and spent aleast 2 weeks in these places so I no how its like, I do like Abuja. Ghana is now the best resettling country, weekend and tourist destination for most nigerians  And our your bus companies are cashing in by opening terminals in Ghana eg.  Abc, chisco, the young , cross country, even agofori. and others.
The banks are also moving in and so are most international compaines closing their HQ / offices and moving then to Ghana. Eg. HP,unilever, Nestle and even Guinness Nigeria, to list a few.  Guys, Ghana is the next big time, you are all welcome and thanks for driving Ghanaians out for then to come and build their country to what it is now. Why on earth will fuel cost more in Nigeria than in Ghana when we buys crude from nig.? Guys if your leaders fails you, Change then like Ghanaians do. oh I hear our EC boss is helping you guys set that system too.  all the best and aba the light thing, you can still recall our energy minister again to clarify things aba the lectures he gave to your energy bosses, because I really want to enjoy light witout that accumulated noise pollution of generators in the whole area plus its fumes when I come on my working visit next year. Anyone

Ghana also has its problem but hey don't blame me cus you should know by now that Ghanaians don't bad mouth their own country like you guys do. Even your ministers confirms this.  Not bad mouthing your country is the first lession in Ghana Elementary Schools. LOL

A very proud Ghanaian.
Guy,
Well said! You hit the nail on the head.
For those who'll wonder why I suppot him, It's a virtue to acknowledge the truth even when it tastes bitter.
Politics › Re: Are Igbo's Really Jews? by Ellyptical: 9:41am On Nov 27, 2009
the igbo folklore has it that the Igbos descended from the priestly clan called the Nris (also called the Eri) who settled in present day aguleri/umuleri in Anambra.
Genesis 46:16 says Gad (a son of Jacob) begat Eri.
