This will keep going regardless. So here goes. Apologies for my insensitivity. It was a bad joke and a very bad one. I know the damage is done, but my post will be removed, so as not to offend people further. smiley

Eldee,

This is not a dedication thread. This is just another news thread. Nothing here is dedicated to them. Let's call a spade, a spade shall we? I understand plenty people may not appreciate my humour. However to try and use me as a comparison to those who killed them is a bit over the top.

Being a clown is okay . . . but doing this just after this gruesome murder is silly.
Stop using the internet as an excuse.

I'm really disappointed in you.
Really? God forbid, I have a mind of mine. It may be good idea to bear that in mind.

Music/RadioRe: Learn How To Write Your Own Songs. by ElRazur: 2:11pm On Mar 13, 2010
On the issue of writing melody. I just did a quick check on this song - 21 question. The chorus as I suspect is only on three keys! It goes from the begining, plays a bit in the middle and end keys, then back to the beginning. While, this may be a simple form, I think it highlights the basis of doing a melody for anyone look at doing melody/chorus.

Just thought I should mention it.
Rap BattlesRe: Beef This, Diss That, Hater, Enemies And Music Lately. by ElRazur(op): 1:19pm On Mar 13, 2010
I think that issue was mentioned in my original post.

Personally, I feel fans have powers to do many things and many bad things. I can understand why some fans may want their favourite artist to do a diss record or response to one. I just feel, Artist need to use their head and realise that it is necessary at times not to bow to what the fans want. But then, it can be a difficult choice in practice. smiley

Eldee,

I believe one can mark their territory without Beef records. Fela did without having "beef" with fellow musicians.

I am not sure if it was you who stated that Beef is just competition. Personally, I partially agree in the sense that it is a small and very minor form of competition, but it appears Artist may be going in this direction and forgetting about making music.

I have read all replies and a few things I will just like to ask and state.

Please provide me a track where Sunny/Obey/Kollington went as far as dropping names? I think what we will find are songs laced with proverbs and fans end up saying "Oh it is directed at this and that"

Beef sells record? Really? I think Eminem's album was successful because he is good. I think Nas's album was good because he is one of the best and an album was much anticipated? Tupac's album - all eyez on me I believe is the most successful, this is down to about 24 or so tracks on it and to say it is successful as a result  of one track is perhaps far-fetched?

While I am shying away from discussing America's hiphop, I have to give a few instances as well. The Game got dropped because of beef, surely if it sells record, perhaps he may have been kept on? I think I remember Dre passing a comment that suggested that he is not happy with Beef this and beef that? I think he went as far as saying "I just want to make hit the studio in the morning, make music and go back home to my wife at night" or something along those lines.

Record labels also had meetings etc when the whole Naz and Jay Z thing was getting out of hand - they [nas and jayz] played it down that the were merely challenging themselves. This was after record labels voiced concerns if memory serves me right.

I respect the fact that some people will want to see Beef and Diss record, but then I am not one of those people and I am yet to say that my views are a representative of what people want. Just like any other person, I am merely voicing an opinion and giving my concerns.

Yes people will disagree with me, but then this is what makes this place a forum - an avenue to discuss/debate/interact. So please, let no one feel like I am proving like I know it al or my views is the ultimate one. Far from it.

Thanx for the comments and I fully understand the reptition point. three things I believe always stuck me to that are
1. I like to preserve the traditional sampling technique (no instruments that's not in the sample itself) just the drums and samples. Not the kind of Just Blaze style of sampling (See Damu The Fudgemunk)

2. I have a kind rhyme style in my mind which usually tends towards the old new york cypher session where what they need is to have basic beat looping in assistance to their freestlyes

3. I'm just back pack producer who's obsessed with sampling and will not want to touch its soulful nature. lol

but overall, i know that if i want to make something sellable and commercial, more works need to be done on the beats before rendering. Am just playing around with these. thanx

And about the equipments I use. Am not as rich as you are, So, I'm minimalistic in my equipment approach. Depending on the beat, I choose between three wave editors to bring out my samples (Cool Edit Pro, Audacity or Edison). I chop my samples in Fl Studio or Native Instrument Battery. Work with my drums in FL Studio and external plugins. then, the only hardware I have that I've just purchased is an MPD 24 which i use to trigger my samples since my fingers have turn to something else through sampling. So, those are the recipes for my style of beatmaking and It works just fine for me.

I see what you mean. I am like you too man, just doing it for the interest and hobby. smiley

Backpack ke? Omo you are rich by some people's standard to be able to afford these things man and I no go like those are some good stuff you have there. And like some already stated, it is not about what one have, but one's ability. In the words of Busta Rhymes, "Timbaland makes a beat out of a plastic cup and pencil".

I am guessing you manually slice you samples then - given the state of your hands? grin I have tried using auto chop at 100% over a 1/16 setting but jeez, my samples always come out the way I find unworkable - or at least not going with the ideas of things in my head. sad There is this Sunny ade clip I am looking at working on, but I am not getting the chopping right man - using the Juno G.

I haven't used cool pro edit before, how is it? I am guessing it come jam-packed with features and what not? Anyway, good one. I look forward to your next banger. smiley

Hey I hear you guys. Pardon if I am not replying to everyone. I am busy doing a diss record. Seriously, I heard you guys, I just feel a few people have got the wrong end of the stick. While I am not forcing my views on anyone, I think there is nothing wrong with me having concerns over a trend that can possibly go out of hand. But anyway, time will tell.

Omo just woke up, so not in that debating mood yet. grin

I am open to comment
Don't rush to post your beats here. I think you need to get plenty of practice. And I mean plenty of practice. The beat is just two instruments, but don't let me discourage you.

B-11, convert your beat to .mp3. That .wav file is too big
I downloaded it on my phone but it won't even play [That is unusual]. Fired up my netbook [620am here], while it worked, for some reason, I am not able to reconvert it for you guys. Something is a bit odd.  I resaved and try to reconvert, but it wont work. Omo, I no go lie I whip out my antivirus to double scan the thing jare. Me no like nasty surprises lol.
