nigeria is actually tragically undermanned for its size but well trained and highly professional

i already looked it up
Please, let us be honest and sincere shall we?

Is this the same military that beat up civilians and get on molue for free?

Is this the same military that are rubbish up in jos?

If these are the well trained and highly professional army, I hate to see what the not-well trained and non-professional segment of the army will be like. grin

i think nigeria artelleries are good though poorly equipped.
How can they be good when they are poorly equipped?  huh Their role relies on heavy weaponry and if they are poorly equipped, how will they be good? Say an Artillery support group lacks a Bleep millimetre cannon gun that is vital for their training and what not, how will they be good when they are suppose to do the real thing - war? huh

South Africa had nuclear weapons but voluntarily dismantled all its weapons shortly before the end of apartheid. . . they obviously didnt want those weapons falling into the hands of black folk cos dem black South Africans would have sold the secrets to other black nations.
I think it is more to do with the Non-proliferation treaty or something along those lines. But yes, it is a good thing they did.

Numbers means nothing when you have nothing to back it up. A good example is China, they have advantage in numbers, but the men are poorly trained. In Africa, one of the most Advanced Army is that of SA. smiley

PoliticsRe: Kindly Nominate Your "nairaland" Minister's Cabinet by ElRazur: 8:52pm On Mar 18, 2010
My nominations are based purely on how people perform here and to some extent those I had the chance to meet or know in real life.

NEC Chairman
-  Kosovo. Why? If a clown can be a mod. Nothing is impossible. grin

Minister of Finance - LadyT. Why? She is good with finances and helped to arranged the last Nairaland meet up we had in London.  cool

Inspector General of Police - Oyb. By using his good detective skills, he proved what beyond reasonable doubt what many of us suspected - Kosovo is a clown. grin

Minister of Health
-

Minister of Petroleum -

Minister of Information -

Minister of Culture Tourism -

Minister of Sports
- Sagamite. This is guy is football mad. He is even sporting a sport-related injury as I type. He is a big lover of Naija footy. Having said that, I beat him in pro evo almost all the time. grin

Minister of Justice
- MrBrownJay. I love his crazy outburst. He will make a good judge. cool

CBN Governor - LadyT may be in a better position here and So is Sagamite. He chews economics and banking for a living. cool

Minister of Power - Whoever this is, please do not give it to Seun. He's shown he cannot be reasonable with "power"  grin

Minister of Education - OmoIbo, that nnaa is got a Phd and he ain't about to stop yet. Yes, that is right, he's got a phd. So respect his post. grin cool

EFCC Chairman - Don't know. Havent seen anyone who have that kind of character needed over the EFCC.

Minister of Women Affairs - Any of the mods at Romance. Debosky and co?

Minister of Technology
- I am not sure the rules allow me to nominate myself, but I am. I promise to bring the latest gizmo to Nigeria and help develop this sector. smiley

Minister of Foreign Affairs - Who ever it is, do not put Kosovo. We need someone who understand international law and relations and not someone who reads dictionary to impress others. grin Daviddylan and co may be well suited here too.

Minister of Youths - Don't know.

Possibly [as a nomination at best]. Now imagine other artists who are better than them world-wide and are slightly more recognised. The odds are not looking good to be honest. But then, I may be wrong.
Music/RadioRe: Do You Think Any Nigeria Musician Can Win a Grammy? by ElRazur: 7:21pm On Mar 18, 2010
1987 comeback

In 1987, Sunny Adé returned to international spotlight when Rykodisc released a live concert he did in Seattle and was given an astonishing embrace by fans across the globe who were eager for another international album release[8].[who?]

He soon employed an American manager, Andrew Frankel, negotiated another three album record deal with the Mesa record label (a Division of Paradise Group) in America. One of these albums was 1998's Odu, a collection of traditional Yoruba songs, with which he was nominated for the second Grammy Award and thus making him the first African to be nominated twice for a Grammy. Apart from being an international musician Sunny Adé is also prominent in his native Nigeria, running multiple companies in several industries, creating a non-profit organization called the King Sunny Adé Foundation, and working with the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria.

In recent times, hip-hop music appears to be holding sway with the electronic media in Nigeria with massive airplays. Nonetheless, Sunny Adé's musical output has continued to inspire a vast generation of other Nigerian musicians, who believe in the big band musical set up which Sunny Adé and late Fela Kuti are noted for[9]. The musician, Lagbaja is one of the very many musicians Sunny Adé's music has inspired. In 2008, his contributions to world music was recognised; as he was given an award for his outstanding contribution to world music at the Reggae and world music awards held at the Appollo Theater in Harlem, New York.
[edit] Hollywood career

In the 1980s Adé embarked on a career in Hollywood. His music was featured in the 1983 film Breathless, starring Richard Gere, and the 1986 comedy One More Saturday Night, and he acted in Robert Altman's 1987 comedy O.C. and Stiggs.

KSA was probably our only chance, but I am not sure he capitalised on the idea.

grin
Music/RadioRe: Do You Think Any Nigeria Musician Can Win a Grammy? by ElRazur: 6:46pm On Mar 18, 2010
In theory, yes. Here is why it is possible in theory:
Anyone can win an award if "all things are equal". A good example will be when Tuface or so beat Akon to an award some few years ago.

It wasn't that Tuface was that good o beat Akon, but the manner or system in which the "host voting" was done. Allow me to explain, an award category is given to a radio station and then fans are urged to vote their nominations. In this case, the host radio station was in Nigeria or another country in Africa if memory serves me right. Needless to say, people nominated Tuface and as a result he won the award at the event (mtv??)

Now, the question is will Tuface have won the award if it is somewhere more neutral? Most likely not. Hence my beginning statement  of "in theory yes and when all things are equal"

As for Grammy, it will have to be a big No. Why? Well, the panels that decides the award whilst comprise of many relevant experts, however, there is yet to be a product out of the Nigeria's industry that is truly worthy of a Grammy.  All the Nigerians who have won or nominated in the past had worked on very good projects artistically and not just party mass appeal (which is what Nigeria music is mostly about) for example Seal-kiss from a rose (batman) , Sade Adu etc have all worked on projects/albums that are almost "textbook stuff". Perhaps when the music and movie industry in Nigeria  reach that level, the Grammy will be awarded? But as it stand no.

Again these are my views and opinions. Thanks.

Right, I am not supposed to be doing this but I love beat making too much.

This is the person I got you confused with "B11-ladman". He posted a beat where he literally used a pre-set drum groove and presented it as his own. And on top of that, all his beats are weak, so you can see why I said "You went from Sky B to MI .     .     .   " comment. Once again, apologies for getting it wrong - I got your name confused with another posted.

I only listened to one beat - the RnB one and from what I heard, it is a good beat. That is not to say it is perfect, however as it stand I cannot fault it much.  smiley The voice used is too robotic and it do not capture the appeal and phrase of "sexy love" been spoken properly. But don't worry, people will probably not notice this.

The second beat started off well, but the thing here is that the samples sound similar with the previous RnB, in fact, you used the same whistle/whine from the previous on this one as well. You may need to vary your sound a little bit. Again, do not get me wrong it is a good beat. But if you put this track and the one on the same album, it will sound same -even though they are different track and genre.

Over all a very good job. These are the best yet from you so far. Keep it up.

Finally, it may be worth knowing that I enjoy making beats too and I take on-board what people tell me. I do not think simply because I made a good beat, I expect every one to agree that it is a good beat or have nothing to say about it. I am saying this because of your previous comments. If you will prefer that I do not drop comments on your beats in the future, I will bear that in mind. I have nothing to gain or lose from telling you how your beats are. If anything, you are the one to gain. Just the same way I have gained from people who have criticised my beats. Always remember that. smiley

Are you saying you go from sky b to MI in a space of about few days? I will let others have their say.

can you imagine that he sold 31million albums since his death!!! some artists dont even sell that much in a lifetime, lol.
i do wonder how much of this money will his kids truly get since he had debts of 400milla?
i am sure his lawyers will have many hoola hoops on the contracts to make sure that his estate get a fair share!
I am sure the reports about his finances are true. His Beatles catalogue alone is worth around Two billion apparently and his alleged debt is about 400 million. Ticket sale and merchandise from "This is it" made substantial amount of money etc. undecided I am very sceptical about his alleged financial ruin to be honest.

Omo 31 millions album sales is just massive. If I ever release and album and it sells a quarter of that figure. I think it will be a good job. grin

Typical Nigerian mentality. If you voice a concern about something - one automatically becomes a hater. Jeez.

I have never called him a fraudster. How many more times do I have to say that?

His program schedules suggest he is going around at the moment to gives talks about internet and Africa. Seeing that he is someone who is recognised from his work which he won award for. it makes sense for the media to give him air-time.

Surely, that is not rocket science.

Having said that, I stand by my post that his claims are misleading. It sucks that you cannot separate the two.

You aren't making any sense to be honest. You cannot understand simple logic and am not sure if it is worth talking to you any more. There is nothing logical in what you have posted so far. To yourself perhaps you make sense but, seriously, nothing logical in your post.

You are quick to suggest good leadership will solve our problem. Yet you forget that good leadership is not the only factor, another important factor is good followership and the state of mind of Nigerians. For example, majority of Nigerians think of what they will gain out of Nigeria and how they can have a slice of the national cake but not what they can do for Nigeria even if it serves them no gain.

These are some of things I am talking about, but clearly you find it hard to comprehend.

You compared a nation of 150 million to another naiton of about 1.6 billion. You compared a place like china where there are different factors at play, where there are things like child regulation, communism, state control etc. You compared that with Nigeria that practices democracy and none of those restrictions etc. You know, in a debate, you compare like for like. You know, compare say for example, an orange with an orange, not an orange with a paracetamol tablet and butterfly.

Dubai is not the same as Nigeria - see above.

So when I am not keen on taking it further with you, it is not about digging hole, it is just about the fact that your logic is crude. Don't worry though, rely on this messiah of leader coming to make Nigeria better.

I was quite surprised the first time someone said almost the exact same words as you did about Philip Emeagwali. The statement came from an MIT trained Nigerian Nuclear Scientist.

Perhaps Philip Emeagwali has blown his achievements out of proportion, but this is not different from what people do everywhere. I don't think anyone can point to a single lie he has told about his achievements, exaggeration may be, but fraudulent, No.
Let us forget his dissertation for a minute. I am recently back in Uni for a second degree and if there is an option to not write a dissertation I may jump at it. grin

His claims as father of the internet is misleading is my point that I have been saying. What he worked on was not used for the invention of the internet and as such this makes him claims of "father of internet" misleading. Please look up on what he worked on and its application.

If the development of internet started in 57/60s. How can what he worked on in the late 80s make him the father of internet? huh

So why has China risen so dramatically in the last 20yrs? What changed? I mean they're still Chinese with same mind set. Could it be because they had new dynamic liberal leaders. Why is South Korean more prosperous than  North Korean and why was Dubai built in less than 20yrs and not before?
Just as leaders can take nations forward bad leadership can take a nation backward e.g North Korea with its despotic leader. We will never know what it would have been like if we had leaders like the Awos the Fasholas as opposed to the Banbagidas and Abachas.
Don't be retarded.
Okay I have seen the light now.

Oh wait, Nigeria is not China. Nigeria is not Dubai. What is good for the goose may not be good for the fowl.

Oh wait, one more. "we are as strong as our weak points"

Oh wait, the same mind set that have stopped Nigeria developing in almost 50 years. I guess one leader will just come from heaven and make it all work. And am guessing this leader will come from the same Nigerians that have indirectly or directly refused change right?

Okay awesome. Now I have seen the light. I think you are right and very correct.
PoliticsRe: Digital Giants: Emeagwali Predicts Nigeria As 3rd Best Internet Customer By 2050 by ElRazur: 3:32am On Mar 17, 2010
Aloy+Emeka:
Bottomline: If his claims are misleading, could it be because you do not have the ability to understand them or because they are untrue?. If the latter is the case, you still have a legitimate case to not only bring him down but disgrace BBC in the process through rival media power houses.
Again, speak for yourself. I already told you I am not your average. His claims are misleading, to be blunt, I am shying away from calling his claims fraudulent.  It is simple as it can get. He worked on something - no one is denying it. He won an award for what he worked on - no one is denying that. However, [this is the big crunch] what he worked on was never used for internet.

Hence why his claims are misleading. Since you are finding this hard to comprehend, let me give simpler examples. It is like someone worked on Plastics and then claim that his plastics resulted in the invention of computer, even though the computer invention is already in place before he worked on plastic. You get the idea? This is exactly what we are dealing with here.

There is no case for me to bring against me as I am yet to be in an audience where he made such claims. As it stand, the claim is on his website and a few talks he's given.

Where?; Do you need glasses?
"I can understand him making fraudulent claims on his website like anybody may.   .   .   ." I am not sure about you, but that quote sounds to me like you are accepting his quotes are misleading, but it is okay provided they are on his website. It is in your last post I quoted. Read it again ma'am.

Typican Nigerian big mouth. Same thing some said when Genevieve was featured in Oprah. You think they pick any Tom, Dik and Harry to interview for the viewer-ship of over 60 million people worldwide?. If he is nothing but a fake, they wouldn't be knocking on his door.
Who is Genevieve? huh Who are these people saying stuff.  huh

Sorry, I don't find tribalism funny. You may be smiling but you passed the message along. If you were sincere, how did my ethnic group come into play here?. If that was a joke, then you need to quit joking because that was the same claim you made after making that daft joke about the murdered Bini boy.
The problem here is that you are still saying something irrelevant. I have over 3k of post and none of them have been about tribalism. I stay away from it. Yes, I made a joke and when it became obvious you didn't get it. I re-explained myself, but you still keep making reference to it. What is your point exactly? Seriously it is getting boring now. It is a classic sign of when someone is running out of steam in a debate and they will just say anything to safe their face or something. Please chillax.

Anyway, just as a round off, before we lose the points.

His claims are misleading. Look up what he worked on and its application and it becomes clear. Anyone can do this.
