Meliforme: The team's playing style is to keep possession of the ball.
A large chunk of blame goes to the midfield for not placing themselves in good positions to receive passes of the ball. A midfield that will lose the ball because they cannot handle themselves in tight spaces. hence the concomitant back passes in order to keep possession of the ball.
Awaziem's pass was intelligently intercepted because the opponent read us well, it doesn't make Awaziem's passes of the ball poor.
We need midfielders who can receive passes from the defenders and find a way to not only locate the forwards, but also support them as they break down the opposition. Passing the ball across your defense line like he did was never an advisable move. If we want to continue playing from the back, our players would learn how to occupy wide positions to provide more passing outlets. |

Lookman proved me wrongly during Afcon and good to see him performing in Europa final, really surprised seeing Boniface on the bench. Ejuke? I'm not sure I follow. Alonso messed up big time. |

Mujtahida: Yeah Bro. I stated that Nigerians - igbo, hausa, Yorubas, Tiv, Idoma, Igala and the other ethnicities are tribalistic. So it's hypocritical for us to point fingers at others and accuse them of what we are all guilty of. Oh! Alright. I get you. |

mrwilliams9: Osimhen had 2-3 good chances to score today. He really needs to improve his 1v1 finishing and offside awareness. I don’t think I’ve seen him go a game without getting caught offside. Got caught off 2x today. You obviously didn't watch the game. None of those chances were clear cut chances, the lad was out there trying to make things work out of nothing. |

jihday: it’s very harsh to judge Finidi, no assistants, he didn’t call the players then what he’s trying to do will take time to instill but the problem is we don’t have that time to be patient, we have a WCQ in the horizon. Finidi can continue to be assistant for now. I'd judge Finidi for: 1. Not starting a striker. 2. Waited too late to make substitutions and made just only 2 in a friendly game. I do want him to continue because we can't know for sure how the incoming coach will perform if he's going to be any better since he'd be unfamiliar with the players. |

There's no guarantee any foreign coach will just come in and switch thing up with just a snap of his fingers.
We seem to have forgotten the stinker Peseiro dropped against Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
Let the main guys come back and we'd ball. It's just the fringe players not giving a good account of themselves.
Finidi messed up with his sub. |

comodo: They are quicker to d ball than our players too. Our players just dey do like stammerers before them go talk, u don step on the shit finish. Dem dey react when ball don pass them finish. They're well positioned to winning all the 2nd balls, this is what the SE have been poor at for at least the last decade and half. |

A disappointing 1st half.
Filled with unnecessary back passes. Playing with no recognized striker was a bad idea.
We've had no shot at goal all half and that's embarrassing.
The Malians are a well drilled team.
They played our tactics better.
They simply mirrored our style and gave us a thorough lesson on how to effectively do it.
High pressing, quick recovery, change of play, intricate passing, man-marking; the Malians have been great. |

Hi Mujtahida, you quoted me on the other sports thread, but before I could see it to respond, the overzealous mod delete all the post and blocked me as I believe he must have done you too.
I'm interested to know exactly what your views were as per the off-topic discussion on that thread. |

Bannedlargedx2: Yea, he will guarantee you goals against the likes of Lesotho, chievo, São Tomé, salenita, cremonese but when it comes to do or die matches, he usually goes quiet. Today performance was world class sha I ask again. Where were you when he scored Roma, Juventus, Chelsea, Barcelona, Valencia and the rest? |

Kog45: My point here,do we need to play players out of steam to the extent they are ruled out of the season due to injuries when we have players who can do it on the bench.I’m not talking of changing the whole team but forcing two or three players to play can affect the team.
JP can do better in this regard next time. Just look at the way Adingra cooked Aina on the right wing. I felt pity for him. |

Bannedlargedx2: Bro, I disagree on your analogy. To me, a world class player is a player that can play at the highest level and is extremely competent regardless of his consistency. For example,Ronaldinho prime was from 2002 until 2006 and he was world class during that period. Afterwards, he lost form and sadly went into oblivion. On current form, there are not many number 9 better than osimehn and he is presently capable of excelling at the highest level. Osimehn main roadblock has been his inability to perform at big games and once he sorts that roadblock, the sky is the limit. He is the type of player that will guarantee you goals against small teams while being quiet at semi, finals etc. furthermore, he is definitely a world class striker in 2024 Unable to perform in big games, yet he has goals against Valencia, Chelsea, Roma, Juventus and the likes? |

Mujtahida: Truth is that after that Cameroun game, our players never recovered. That match was played at a frightfully frenetic pace with our players giving their all. They climbed that hill and every other one was too much for them. Osimhen had to go down late in the game for JP to take the cue. |
