Naira was devalued for no just reason. What we experience that made us devalue the Naira, some countries that experienced same with lesser exports did not devalue their currency

Personally, I think the CBN did well but they can do better on the e-Naira because as it stands, majority of Nigerians don't see it as too special. A simple reason is that it is pegged to the ever dwindling Naira.

To me, we have been using e-Naira a long time ago since we started using e-banking because we have been transferring Naira without holding raw cash.

If the CBN can listen to these suggestions, the e- Naira might just be just the right solution we need to stabilize our currency.

1- Peg the e- Naira to a dollar and tell everyone to convert all their dollars to e-Naira. Let 1 e-Naira be equivalent to a dollar and leave the Naira as it is. What will happen is that, the demand for dollar will gradually decrease.

2-Scrap the Naira 4 dollar policy and replace it with e- Naira for Naira policy where once you save Naira, you get a tiny fraction of e- Naira as profits. This will encourage more people to save the Naira and with time, it will increase the value of the Naira because as it stands, most people do not save the Naira anymore due to steady decline in value.

3- All imports should be done with the new e- naira ( which is pegged to a dollar) and tie the e-Naira with foreign sites where people buy and sell products and services like Amazon and e- bay with the reconciliation carried out back-end by the CBN together with the banks.

These are just my suggestions as a concerned Nigerian. I believe we have bright minds in this country. Experts on this forum can contribute to what I have written and make corrections where I am wrong.

you can't just peg a currency to the dollar out of thin air, if that was possible, every struggling economy will just introduce new currency and peg it to the dollar.
Your currency must be backed by something tangible that can swallow the liquidity of that currency without going into debt. The dollar itself is backed by an imaginary insane amount of Gold plus a strong economy. If you're pegging the e-naira to dollars, what'll back the e-naira to stay afloat in case of liquidity?
I know you heard about Tether and think it's that easy. The truth is that deep ⬇ Tether is now in a niche sense a fraud currency but the Internet has given it so much value that eliminates the need for it to be wholly backed. Just like how the market value of Telsa and Apple doesn't reflect their true value, same thing with Tether..

e-naira is not cryptocurrency in the sense that Reno is referring it to. It's a CBDC meaning it's not decentralized which defeats the whole essence of it being cryptocurrency

I wish I can elaborates more about this data issue but it is complex and time consuming but what I will just say is that there are much more data than what we can see from search engine, data privacy has Geopolitical implication, international rivalry, potential threat in case of hackers like socialarks scandal or Tmobile scandal.

To a lay man like us, it may be inconsequential but at the highest level it is very vital. The possibility that your girlfriend will hack Amazon server is nearly zero but what if she hacked and realized you went on a date with another girl yesterday night that u claimed u were in a business meeting.

This data issues is like medical field about 200 years ago when it was not a big deal to use human being for medical experiments but to day it is criminal offense, however we wouldn't have achieved so much in medical field today without those barbaric practice 200 years ago.

I've always maintain the stand that data collection and privacy is a gray area and not a white or black scenario. Those that are worried about what their data is used for are right and so are others that are oh!kay with the improvement made by tech using those data.

I said Trump was a figure head while BLM never had such. Trump never issued a direct order so there's no way you can say he's guilty. More than half of the people that were charged for the Jan 6 insurrection said they were responding to their President's call.

So saying Trump was silenced while Hilary wasn't is overlooking that very point just to prove your case. Trump wasn't "silenced" until the Jan 6 incident. Action consequences.
- Did you know Congress was in session during Jan 6? Democracy is made of of what 3 tiers of Government that overseers each other, The Executive, The Legislature and The Judiciary. It wasn't the first time protest had been held outside Congress but that they broke the barrier and gained access into the chamber while a Legislative proceeding was taking thus stopping the process and you say the didn't threaten America's democracy. Democracy isn't only about the President. Read it up.
