Which one you go buy?

1) You need a phone
2) you want a flagship killer
3) You prefer say Tecno but they don't have what you want
4) You go with your budget...

PS: in my case I'd take SD over MediaTek anytime any day.

No doubt battery durability is part of the reasons iPhone is reluctant but the theory of fast charging degrading battery is based on old technology, there are latest technology that does not really boost the charging perse, it split cell technology in which ur battery will be splits into two or more cells. This simply means u are not charging 5000mah instead u are charging 1000mah cells in 5 places, if it takes u 3hours to charge 5000mah, it will narrow it down to like 30 minutes to charge 5000mah, this where ur charger and port comes in.
The real reason why iPhone battery health last longer than average Android is software optimization and so many hidden things Apple does to manage the lifespan of their batteries since it is covers with warranty in certain countries. We saw example of such hidden things when they were caught for deliberately slowing down their phones through software updates. However average Android manufacturers are not concerned with that and they don't have full power on software l I ke apple.

Fast charging degrades battery faster. Battery technology is not yet matured to mitigate that. There's was a time where phone companies where creating charging awareness like don't charge your phone unless it's 20% or less, charge to 100% once in a while not always, don't charge and use your phone; and all of that. They even went as far as making your phone slow charge once it gets to 80%.
Charging of battery is basically creates heat and heat is not good for Battery life. That's why phones with superfast charge comes with some form of cooling tech to try and reduce that effect.
In the future with the research that's going on, I think we'll be able to crack that area but it's not yet there.

2 reasons from my POV:
1) It's Apple. Not in a cocky way but when it comes to their proprietary design, they usually go to great lengths to preserve it.
2) It will mean they will either have to produce 2 sets of iPhone, one with the lighting port and one with USB-C for European market. So if I have to guess, I think they might ship European iPhones with USB-C to lighting port dongle than move straight to USB-C. Precedence: France pass a law that all phones in their market must come with wired earpiece. So instead of keeping the earpiece port, Apple included a earpiece jack to lighting port dongle for the French market.

The improvement is very slow and like I said partly thanks to Lightning port even though that is not the only reason, instead apple is looking at portless iphone as soon as their wireless technology has improve enough.

Samsung as always manufactured Apple's chip until 2013 when Tsmc started doing it and I think they also did briefly in 2017, Samsung also manufacture google tensor chip and the latest snapdragon.

The lightning port can support fast charging but the battery won't achieve 80% health status in 5years. That's like one of the core idea behind each iPhone battery design and optimization. If you check most of the phones with superfast chargers have a 80% battery health after 2 years while the iPhone is around 90% (base on normal charging cycle).
if they do move to USB-C, which I doubt, I think they will still cap their fast charging below what the competition offers

Yes u are correct except that there is no improvement and they are also making money from it unlike samsung exynos that is under going improvement and a matter of pride. Samsung can't be fabricating Chips for Apple, google and Co and their own chips lays idle.

One of the reasons why iPhone hardly has any significant improvement in fast charging is partly due to lightning port slow data transfer.

They had no choice on the iPad and MacBook because they will be shooting themselves in the foot.

There have been improvement over the years. From 5w to 20w that's improvement. It's not 120w nor 66w or whatever but it's an improvement nevertheless. Apple have their own doctrine of how they want their consumer products to progress. You can't be using other phone manufacturers' doctrine to judge the iPhone.

Also, Samsung don't fabricate chips for Apple or Google... Just last year is the first time they did for Qualcomm (SD888).

This is great news, some manufacturers are just not nice to end user placing profits above anything otherwise what stops Apple from moving to type c USB despite data suggest that it is far better, reliable and beneficial than lightening port.

Lightning port is Apple's proprietary design. Most of their other products have been moved to USB-C port but they just can't give up on their own in-house design and creation.
It's like Samsung not giving up on Exynos chips even after years and years of not so good performance but they keep working and improving on it

In my opinion they should have called the 13 a 12s just like the did to their previous phones if they know they don’t have any major update for example the 6s 4s 5s and xs

you didn't see improved camera abi but when Samsung or any other Android OEM does it it's a big thing.
I can tell you other improvements but what's the point when you have already decided that it's the iPhone so it's not worth it.
FYI look at the Android and you'd realize your same argument with their flagships, it's only "minor upgrade" over previous models but they change the camera settings and suddenly that's the big deal to you guys.

The only key different between the S20 and S21 is the camera arrangement and color palette. The front is identical.
