joyoftheLord: Please i need your help as i've been searching daad website since dis morning. Is it compulsory u must have either toefl or german language certificate before u can be taken in any of the universities in germany for English course in bsc? Can't there be a University that accepts documents like waec result, CV, motivational letter, birth cert. Int'l passport page, etc, excluding toefl and german lang cert.? Please help me get these answers for my younger bro, thanks.
I'm trying to remember when searching for daad website became as hard as crude oil.
This is the website www.daad.de

If u are applying for Bsc in germany, most Universities teach in german except for a few like Rhine Waal (which requires toefl or ielts) and may be any other University. If the course is taught in English, u don't need to present any german language certificate when applying for admission. Like others mentioned, u'd be needing Alevel or at least a first year University transcript to qualify u for Bsc.
Also note that even if ur course is taught in English(Bsc) the embassy most times requires that u present a german language certificate of A1 or A2 and they'll refer u to Goethe Institut, though there are some exceptional cases that are lucky. I'd suggest u get at least A1 german.

If u are going for Msc taught in English, then u don't need to worry about German language certificate both for admission and at the embassy. Except ur Msc is taught in both English/German or strictly German.
U also don't almost require toefl or ielts when applying for masters cos most Universities skip it for Nigerians except a few like Rhine Waal who don't believe we can speak english.

Note that for Bsc, without A-level or transcript, don't bother applying! Except of course u want to be as disappointed as Arsenal fans or TB Joshua laid hands on your documents...

My 2 spoons...

Whether u are going for Bsc or Msc, as long as it is Rhine waal, u still need to write TOEFL or IELTS. Except it's a different school u are applying to

manover: Hello house, my cousin want to apply for Master in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, He hard 3.66 GPA in his result, Pls can anyone give send me the link to any school where he can apply! Please i need ur help on this!

Please where can he certify his result?
and how many documents did he need to certify?

He has collected his transcript today from his school
He has international passport
and Neco Certificate

Please what other documents does he need to add to the above listed documents?
I noticed u have been following this thread for long enough now and am surprised u don't know these things. I'm afraid u still may not understand after I add my 2 spoons of answers, perhaps ur cousin could follow this thread too.

He needs to certify his University degree, transcript, Waec. U can search for schools on www.daad.de or www.mastersportal.eu. Go through the schools website and get information about the required documents needed to apply. If the school requires u apply tru uni-assist then visit the Uni-assist website www.uni-assist.de and get all the guidance u need. U can certify documents at a notary public or at the german embassy. U don't need to certify the international passport o! This one u are mentioning it.

Advice for anyone willing or planning to study in Germany. U better hurry and take the chance now with the tuition free education. The German election is tomorrow and no one knows what the outcome would be and what the change of power could lead to. The new head of parliament may decide to change the decision of offering free tuition to international students. God will continue to help us but we also need to help ourselves. If u are still confused on how to apply, pls ask ur questions now and make haste while Oluwa is involved!

otto256: This forum sucks cry. Its for only students!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is not for only students. People have come here to ask questions about family reunion and visits and they were answered. If ur questions were not treated, perhaps u asked the wrong question, or u did not explain ur question well, or ur rudeness has been taken note of and no one cares about what happened in China in 1972

pricelessmr: Thanks Emeka for that insight. I think the issue is for me to explore all possible options. It has become obvious to me that getting the student visa is the greatest challenge. I was even thinking that admission would be the rate limiting step.
Anyway, let me focus on admit first.
To avoid doubt, is it possible for me to gain admissions into Msc biotech or something related to medicine and also bsc engineering, then apply for visa with d Msc acceptance only but with d intention of studying bsc engineering on arrival? Just looking for ways to better my chance. what are the pitfalls. Thank u.
It is easier to be admitted into a science course related to medicine if u are looking to apply for Msc. On the other hand, if u are applying to an Engineering course Msc, it could be difficult since u don't fulfil the relevant course requirement except if it's Bsc in Engineering. As Tope also stated, some schools could have age restrictions to Bsc but that is almost impossible especially when u have a first degree.

Instead of going through all the stress and doubts, why not apply for Msc to any course related to ur present degree and then apply for ur visa. When u get to Germany, u can make the switch to the Engineering u want to study, by then u would properly informed. It could save u the many questions of the V.O and the school

pricelessmr: I have followed this thread after the strong desire to get a foreign postgraduate degree. Let me quickly acknowledge the good work of Tope, Godson & co. Danke!
I am a Medical doctor but with lots of exposure in electronics engineering. I wanted to apply for MSc in Energy & Process engineering with my MBBS degree and evidence of my company's work as (R&grin) scientist BUT now, since BSc is only 3yrs or 3.5yrs with intense training, I have decided to go for BSc.
My Questions:
1. would age be a barrier? I'm 33.

2. since it is BSc, will my transcript from Med sch be an advantage? remember i am going for engineering program.

3. I am married with 2 children. can I request my family to come over to Germany say after 2years of stay with student visa and good financial capability?.
I am targeting 2014/15 winter semester.
Thanks.
Ur age won't be a problem especially when u have achieved something in those past years. It would have been a problem if u didn't have a degree already.

If u are going for a second Bsc, ur first Bsc transcript is important and an added advantage if u had good grades with relevant courses.

Yes u can bring ur family over if u have stayed as long as 2yrs and have the finance enough to sponsor them. Being married with kids is a good reason why u should get a visa because it shows u have strong ties to Nigeria. Also note that u must not mention ur "Bringing ur family over" during ur interview. Make the V.O believe u intend to return to ur family after ur studies.

Should there be any bridges at all, then it should be u having a good explanation why u are going for a Bsc instead of Msc and how ur previous course concerns what u intend to study.
I hope this helps... My 2 spoons
