9jatatafo: In a sane Nigeria, PDP and APC should be busy giving the Voting population their manifestos, explaining the positive plans they have for Nigeria. Instead they are busy fighting and destroying properties and injuring one another. I just weep for this country. So, this is your assessment of the fracas, how come it flew over your head that APC was on a campaign tour distributing fliers e.t.c to electorates, until PDP attacked. |

All violence has been in PDP states. Meanwhile, Fayose is brewing trouble today in Ekiti state, as he is holding a parallel rally for GEJ in the state, and obstructing right of way of APC members coming from within and outside the state for APC's presidential rally. |

Myself2: okay add the 500k plus votes to GEJ, since those votes belonged to Shekarau=GEJ presently That is so simplistic, elections dont work like that. PDP came 1st in Kano gubernatorial via Kwakwanso in 2011, but 3rd in the presidential in 2011. |

makeitplain: The 2 guys u have written off here Ladoja and Akala (excluding Folarin tho) are actually the biggest contenders here. If u don't know this I don't know what u know about Oyo politics. And if u rubbish my statement, sure go ahead. I will quote all the funny statements I have read on this thread after the elections including yours. If you have taken your time to read what i wrote, you will have noticed that assessment was not about electoral value, it was about how much of devts. they can bring to the state. I know the top three contenders are Ajimobi ,Ladoja and Akala. Akala will be banking o bloc votes from his Ogbomoso, innit? well, lets watch out how well he achieves that bloc vote with a labour party, when he is not even the incumbent. |

RedReact: My brother, while he remained the best to have happened to Oyo governance, he fumbled greatly. Did you watch his campaign rally last week? He started very well and diverted away from his notable works majestically; all because of Second term.
On education, what is he doing? Nothing at all. The technical university he promised is not functional yet. He is not serious to me (mind you, I have been his supported since 2003 when he contested for Senate), as he can easily allow sense of second term becloud sense of judgment. As big as Oyo State is, the state should be engaged in agric revolution, but nothing much in that. Thanks to him for the investors he has invited, but the state is too big for minute industrialization, because it won't speak much of his effort.
He has tried, but he relapsed a lot. I agree he does not have a waoh performance, that is why i classified him as an average performer, relapse is the best word to describe him , especially in 2014, i guess he was too conscious of the vibes from the populace as regards second term. I do not know much about he has deepened the IGR drive of the state, but my biggest grouse with him is the not much significant impact in the educational sector. Apart from the NUC license received for the technical university, nothing has been heard thereafter, none of the model schools promised is completed within 4 years. I see scores of industries setting up, but there is still large opportunity area in the agro allied sector. But, of his 4 major challengers in my opinion , Akala and Folarin are right offs that will not challenge status quo, , listening to the Makinde guy speak, one could sense passion and him having goodies on his head, although talk is cheap, his platform is weak. A Ladoja of accord is a familiar face, and i doubt if he will be inspiring, the good governance that oyo state needs goes beyond prompt payment of civil servant salaries. The potentials of Oyo state is large, and a brilliant leader needs to unlock it. |

Phikom: U ar absoultely spot on...he is best ever in oyo state...but oyo people are so sick to acknowledge what he has done...dia eyes wil be crystal clear wen its time... It is a psyche problem, the ekiti indigenes by bringing fayose back, i can bet still have lots of regrets ahead. The Adedibus with political clientism set a wrong benchmark, and a sane governor must deviate, even if some section of the populace think he is wrong, |

Texykool: Leave the slowpoke alone.
I am an indegene of the state, and I can boldly state that this is the best governor that Oyo State has ever had since 1999.
Anyone that thinks otherwise is either a member of another party or legally blind.
The state of insecurity we experienced during Ladoja's tenure is still fresh in our minds. When a motor park tout (Eleweomo) presided over a session in the House of Assembly.
The brazen embezzlement during Akala's tenure... No be small thing. We still remember how thugs went to the state television house to beat the hell out of workers.
We still remember the days when touts like Tokyo, Eleweomo and Auxilliary reigned like kings in Oyo State. I still remember how Shakiru, a gentle Okada rider in my area was caught in between a crossfire from these trigger-happy touts.
And I still remember how Eleweomo eventually died... Someone was involved...
Someone wants to return me to that period? God no go gree for una.
*let sensible Oyo indigenes feel free to quote me* Dont mind them, Amala politics and tout like governance must be killed finally this year in Oyo State, the Governor is gradually correcting the damaged psyche of the many indigenes about how govt. must be run, Luckily for him, his 4 major rivals(2 former governors, 1 senator, and a fresh and seemingly brilliant face) have gubernatorial tickets, meaning they are scattered in 4 places, as such, with 35-40% of votes cast, he will be re-elected. He has an average performance, and needs to do a whole lot more in the primary/secondary education sector. |

VellyG: What kind of damage. You think if GEJ finds himself in this kind of mess APC won't take advantage of it? This is politics.. Whatever means u can use to bring your opponent down u make use of it. Its a game The bubble will burst soon, and it will further make a mess of PDP. It is like playing football, and moving all your 10 men to your opponents area, and leave the back open, when you are sure you wont score, offcourse ,once your opponent collects the ball, you know the end result. It would have been a different case if PDP knew truly, he had a forged certificate, but i am 100% sure, they know they are just creating distractions. |

There is something fundamentally wrong with a typical Nigerian decision making process, when faced with the need to make a choice of two things, they pick emotions over logic. He clearly failed, but you will pick him, simply because the other did not call fulani men to order when they attacked you. Has the current one on the seat secured you against marauding fulani men? |

pureview: I'm in owerri now and Buhari should celebrate it it if he gets up to 10% of votes here. majority of imo people love owelle save for the elites who feels he practices"familytocracy" but the common man on the street love him so rochas would certainly win.
as for Buhari, he can't get up to 25% of votes in any southeast state. take that front me, many people believe Jonathan has not done well but they do not see Buhari as a better alternative, consequently there would be a lot of voter apathy but Jonathan will win clearly in all southeast states. And not to mention the ethno~religious sentiments that play a huge role in 9ja politics even though we like to deny it. sane and objective analysis. |

Tranquill: Ladoja will definitely not work for Buhari because he has personally experienced his ethnic bigotry. When Yoruba famers and fulani heardsmen had fracas while he was governor, it was Buhari that led some fulanis to go and ask him "why are YOUR people killing MY people?" and Ladoja was utterly disappointed that a former head of state who is supposed to act as a statesman and a bridge builder could decend so low.
