I am getting confused here, somebody please explain these parts circled in red: first, I find it hard to believe that in the 60s, there are documents whose date can start with 20...... considering this was a certificate issued in 1960 something, it raises question of authenticity if the claim here is that this copy is an exact photocopy of the original certificate.

The most disturbing one is the SSCE/WASSCE/NECO Examination on the statement of result. I want to understand this clearly, does it mean the NECO exam was in existence in 1961 or so, I don't get how NECO came into a statement of result that is alleged to have been issued in 1961. This is very confusing to me....can any of his supporters please throw light on this.

After the Nig. Army claimed not to have a copy of his results, he applied for it yesterday in the school he attended , the school obviously checked the records and filled the details in a current Exam grading sheets.

ABUJA—THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it will formally present copies of Voters’ Register to be used in the 2015 general elections to political parties today.
This came just as the commission mandated Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, to set up effective monitoring strategies in the distribution of Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs.
INEC, which in its daily bulletin, said the ceremony would take place at its headquarters, in Abuja, noted that the development “is a crucial milestone on the journey to the 2015 General Elections.”
Section 20 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), provides that the Register of Voters for an election shall be published at least thirty (30) days before the elections.
The 2015 general elections will take place on February 14 and 28, 2015 respectively.
The Timetable And Schedule of Activities for the 2015 general elections, released to the public on January 24, 2014, showed under item 10 that the commission ”shall release or publish the official Register of Voters for the election on January 13, 2015.”
The release also showed that the commission ”shall publish the list of nominated candidates contesting for the Presidency and National Assembly on January 13, 2015.”
The list of those contesting for the offices of governor and House of Assembly will be published on January 27, 2015.
In a related development, the commission has ordered the decentralisation of on-going distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, to the ward level, to enhance access by persons yet to collect their cards.

Our peculiar experience here has shown that military regimes in Nigeria have been worse than the civilian administrations they replaced, partly because of the complete absence of accountability and partly because those guys typically know next to nothing about governance.

Even in very flawed civilian governments, the elite usually throw some crumbs down to the masses to keep them quiet. Most military regimes have less of an incentive to do that... primarily because they got into power by the barrel of a gun and can KEEP power that way.

Anyway we can always agree to disagree.

No problem bro.,To say the Buhari government was worse than the Shagari govt is contentious, but i still feel in a one party state, people have no alternative choice,and the leader has no motive to be accountable to the people, there is a lot to suggest that the third republic was on a one party state mission , as it was already decimating the opposition, Balarabe Musa, Kaduna governor in the north of a different party from NPN was impeached, 2of the 4 UPN governors in the west were rigged out in the 1983 elections that led to widescale violence in the west. The Military struck 3months after the elections .

It takes patience to whip up the perfect democracy. When you ensure that the masses are the ultimate deciders of their fate and destiny, democratic institutions are reenforced over and over again. That's the secret behind the success of western style democracy. They didn't always have it rosy but the electorate remained the ultimate decider. Buhari stole that from us with with his coup in '83. He set us several steps backwards. He should apologise.

In a one party state, the electorates are simply sheep, whipped in to a single file by a shepherd.

What tells you , we wont be a one party state by now, Abacha also tried to achieve the one party state, when all the 5 parties in 1998 simply endorsed him as the messiah for planned oct.98 civilian rule, until divine providence change the course of Nigeria. My point is that, there was no guarantee that the country would have been better off with sustained democracy.

You justify the removal of Shagari due to corruption. Does that also apply to the state governors? How many state governors were corrupt? Jakande? Mbakwe? Ajasin? Onabanjo? Aku? Okilo? How many of these governors were corrupt? Why were they also kicked out?

Dont miscontrue me, what i meant is there is no guarantee that sustained democracy would have helped the Nigerian state.

I took a cursory study of african states, there are 53+ of them, and i discovered that most of the head of the democracies of those period became dictatorial as time progresses and with crude might tried to convert the country to One party state, using the other arms of government like the legislature and judiciary. The 1983 elections was worse off and a greater disaster than the 1979 elections, and UPN Ajasin was rigged off in 1983 for NPN Omoboriowo, Bola Ige of UPN was rigged off for NPN Olunloyo, ....., NPN was drowning UPN , and that Shagari government with majority in the house would most likely have manipulated the constitution to remove term limits before the 1987 elections, that was the trend of that era. Even OBJ tried to achieve term elongation.

I am sorry to mentioned only two cases in Africa, there are close to 20 something cases in Africa.

There was no guarantee Nigerians democracy would have been better than it is currently, infact there are several african countries that have sustained democracy for so long, and are near failed state.
