How do you explain that?

I am telling my wife that I only want 2 kids and she saying that we must have four.I never get her time yet
grin

Don't mind them. They always love to have children until the responsibility falls on them when the husband, the breadwinner suddenly dies.
A neighbor's wife who always say she likes kids after having 4, still thinking of having the 5th own suddenly became worried and crying when she couldn't get her husband over the weekend on phone in Lagos.
On Monday, she met my wife at the kid's school looking depressed and worried.
When my wife asked, what is the problem? She said she has not been able to get her hubby for the past 2 days. That where will she start from with 4 kids? A house wife fah.
That this is suffering oooo.. she can't even afford 1 out of the 4 kids school fees yet ready to heap another load of a kid on her hubby.
She said she will take 2 to her sister in Lagos to stay with them while she manages with other 2.
Now, my question is - why do you have such a stupid plan of putting your kids on another person to train? Don't you think the other person has his/her own plans too?
How can a human be thinking like this? You quiet know you can't afford 4 kids, yet you are having them.
No plans about job loss or death of spouse. Nothing yet they call themselves humans.
Government must do everything for them. Their own is to just keep banging and producing more kids for the government to think about. The problem na the government own

We keep blaming the government but our parents is the cause of 90% of the problems we face today.
As a man, you know you can't even feed three square a meal or pay your rents yet you still go ahead and get married.
Start giving birth to kids you can't cater for yet you keep blaming the government.
You are worse than the devil himself.
Exactly bro.
The major factor of poverty is self induced poverty.
Even if you are poor, sticking to just 1 kid while you and your wife hustle will go along way in alleviating poverty.
Personal induced poverty is 60% why people are poor and government policies takes the remaining 40%.
I have family members am paying their kids school fees why they hardly do anything for the kids.
One has been staying with us since her JSS 1 up till now that she is about to enter nursing school.
Her dad knows nothing about her feeding, clothing or surviving till now and when it is time for her to marry, he will now put on a useless agbada claiming bride's father.
Father that knows virtually nothing how his daughter survived.
He still has 2 that they don't even know what the future owes them because I doubt those ones will go to tertiary university.
Poverty is bad and kills the dream of kids.
It causes low self esteem and many other things.
People should plan before taking critical actions and not just born like dogs and goats and wish the society will train the kids for them. Time has changed

Ironically, the most gracious and merciful god (Exodus 34:6).
The wickedness of the so-called merciful god in the book of Genesis makes me puke. Can't believe I was allowed to read and memorize that shit as a child.

God’s first genocide is hard to beat: he drowns every single person on the planet except one family (Genesis 6:7). The story of Noah’s flood is well known and often made into a children’s story, but the evil contained within it is unimaginable. This story makes Hitler, Stalin, Ghengis Khan, and Pol Pot look like boy scouts in comparison. The story of the flood takes place sometime around 2400 BC, meaning God killed around 20 million people. The Bible starts with a bang.

A few chapters later, God kills everyone in two cities: Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:24). God decided to kill everyone in two cities because they were not “just and righteous.” The only people he saved was a man named Lot, his wife, and his two daughters. When Lot’s wife looked back at the city where God was burning everyone to death, everyone she had ever known, God killed her too (Genesis 19:26). Now a family without a wife and mother, immediately after God killed hundreds or thousands of their neighbors; they found a cave, got drunk, and had incestual sex together (Genesis 19:34). How righteous.

Right, I'm back to reply you here. (I was reading and replying to some other posts). Doing business worldwide has not been very smooth for a lot of folks because of the rise in hyperinflation majorly triggered by COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukraine War. I've fully read your post 3 times and instantly recognized some useful ideas and solutions I can share with you!

First off, for the OMO, since it's only banks and discount houses that can purchase OMO bills from the CBN, it's better to visit the NL treasury bills thread to learn more about how to invest in government bills. It just has to do with walking into a bank and letting them know you want to purchase treasury bills.

=>https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeria

Since you are gonna be away for months, it's indeed important to have non-bricks and mortar investments that will NOT take too much of your time or incure overhead costs or production costs. So, investments in the right kind of financial markets instruments is key.

Indeed, most Millionaires and Billionaires have up to "7" streams of income. So, it is good to diversity ones income from one source to many sources. It's like having a table with 4 legs. When you lose 1 of the 4 table legs, it becomes unstable. That's the way the loss of an income source can be minimized by having up to 7 OR more sources of income at the same time. The billionaires have many divisions within there group of companies that keep generating profit margins while solving problems for a large number of people.

Second, I must commend your doggedness in starting registered businesses in Nigeria with all the policy sommersaults and inflationary trends caused by local and international factors. The value addition and processing of vegetable oil is awesome because of the huge demand in countries with large populations. I don't know if it is the processing of soya oil, sesame oil, castor oil, coconut oil or palm oil your factory was into for the domestic or international market?

All the best.
Thanks for your inputs.
I have moved on over the vegetable oil production. It doesn't fit the nature of my job.
Like I said before, I am into storage now and I prefer it.
About the farming, I am still observing it if it worth my time before deciding on what to do.
About the bond thread... Yes am an avid follower of the thread and have been picking good points from it for some time now.
Thanks for your time

Even the last time I flew Lagos to Abuja, the plane was jampacked at a fare of 240k return ticket. This Christmas, I hear some airlines are charging nearly 600k for Lagos to some routes and the tickets are sold out. How people dey take make this money for Naija and who are these people really?

Obviously, the Nigerians you would meet are in the middle class or upper middle class, but the question is how many are these people compared to the rest of the population? That is really the issue. It is like saying because Dangote is a billionaire, then most northerners are middle class or upper middle class, whereas that is false.

There are rich Nigerians and even middle class Nigerians (I don't ascribe to the belief that there is no middle class in Nigeria). But what is the number?
I quiet agree with you but then, the reality I am seeing on ground is quiet different from the scream on social media.
I stood at the Ethiopia airport flight board last month at Addis Ababa and scanned the flight going to Nigeria, 8 flights bro, 8 flights for morning to afternoon on board. Not to even talk about evening own.
And most of these flight would be virtually full with 85% Nigerian passport holders.
By the time you factor in Kenya connecting flights, turkey own, British own etc every blessed bleeping day then you start wondering, who are these people?
Are they not feeling the economic impact? Are they in a different Nigeria than ours?
Where are they getting all these flight money for a country with a minimum wage of 30k per month?
Alot of things are not just measuring up

Hello once again @emmaodet, I had to move the convo to this NL business thread away from the NL sports thread.

Yes to your questions, I'm not an investor in the OMO (Open Money Market) but I did ask someone last week about (he posted on a travel section thread months back about the fact that you had closed down one of your factories) what niche or line of agribusiness your factory was into.

I too have been using NL and other resources to look at more areas of investments that have a high rate of sustainability.

This thread from 2019 that I'm typing on is one of them. You can go through it and see if you can get some legit business ideas.

On the other hand, if overhead costs in physical businesses are way too high with small profit margins (even after trying to reduce costs of production), then it is better to just be an investor in the financial markets and money markets.

I'll share some more info with you based on what your feedback to my post here is.

Cheers.
Thanks for the reply.
I was into vegetable oil production and power was the major headache for shutting down.
Presently,I have the cash but my absence in the business is taking a toll on it.
I am into farming and agro storage presently and so far, the agro storage looks promising with a better yield than the farming.
I just want to divest into something else pending when I have the time for my biz because I am not always around 8 months in a year.

Our definition of "success" in life is different.

Some are balling in Nigeria , and you expect them to be chasing goose up and down, attempting to japa-ing.

I only feel sorry for individuals that will be fooled by all these posts. Each individual case is unique and different.

Whatever works for you, just do it, and do not shove your opinion down people's throats
Bros, am even tired of arguing about japa no japa again because they will just see you as hater.
Many people are doing fine here in Nigeria and won't think about japaing yet the noise about japa on nairaland is way above the roof.
Some of them say that you can't get a visitor's visa to Europe or Canada with nija passport and when I enter the plane while coming back home last month, 90% of the people are using Nigerian passport because most of us queued and cleared through the Nigerians Only route while like 10% in the foreign passport route.
So who are these Nigerians getting visas everyday?
Who are these Nigerians filling up Ethiopia airlines like 8 a day to Nigeria with other airlines?
Most of these flights are virtually filled up either while traveling out or coming back.
People are traveling out en mass everyday and coming in and most use the Nigerians only immigration route.
So who are these Nigerians getting visas? Every God damn days.
Where are they all getting visas for different countries when the japa crew nairaland version claim Nigeria passport is useless and can't go anywhere?
By now, I expect planes to just be 15 or 20% partially filled since Nigerian passport holders have been shadow-banned as they usually say it

Let me come in here.

You are partly wrong in your response to that guy with regards to your use of the word "Lagosian."

The term "Lagosian" is used exclusively for those from Lagos Island (Eko). I have in my home library magazines from the 1960s to the 1980s that clearly refer to folks or indigenes from Lagos Island (or Eko) as Lagosians. It is the very lazy attitude towards learning history that has led to some younger folks and some Journalists (from the 1990s) who are NOT familiar with the history of Lagos State to erroneously refer to everyone living in Lagos State as a "Lagosian" and this is wrong.

Second, people who are NOT from Lagos State but were simply born in Lagos State by migrant parents are NOT Lagosians but simply "Lagos residents." The Ondo, Osun, Kwara, Enugu, Rivers, or Kano indigenes who were born in Lagos State are simply "Lagos residents" and NOT indigenes (or even Lagosians from Lagos Island).

Those who have ancestral roots primarily in any of the many Ijebu, Awori, and Ogu towns in Lagos State are simply called "Lagos indigenes."

An Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju Lekki, Ojo, Mushin, Isolo or Ikeja indigene will NOT agree to be called a Lagosian (Eko) because originally, the term Lagosian is used exclusively for those from Eko (Lagos Island). This is why a Yoruba person from Ikeja will tell you he or she is going to Eko or Lagos, and you'll start wondering "but this person is wthin Lagos State, why is he or she saying that he or she is going to Lagos?"

So, we have:
1. In Yoruba language Ipinle Eko means Lagos State.
2. In Yoruba language, Eko means Lagos Island.

Just to add, Eko is the shortened form of "Ereko" which means a farmstead. Aside from being a settlement centuries back, Eko was used as a pepper farmstead by the children of Olofin Ogunfunminire who are the original landlords of Eko or Lagos Island till today! The famous White Cap high chiefs are the direct descendants of Olofin Ogunfunminire.

Summary: The word Lagosian historically refers to ONLY indigenes of Lagos Island (Eko).
Hmmmmmm

I wish I could like your post a million times over. You are apt and wise.

At the bolded:

1. You are correct regarding the family event thing. I have activated that since. Now everyone dey contribute. Some grumble and I would be like - I have been doing that for years, it is your turn to contribute too afterall you are earning in hard currency now.

2. They are simply ignorant. If naira devalues, it does not pay anyone. That money in their naira account automatically devalues and they will buy items , eg building materials, at exorbitant rate too
Exactly bro.
About your number 1. I like it when they grumble.
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.
My immediate junior brother was always throwing jabs at me when I complain about family expenses then when he was not working.
He always ask what I am using my money for.
He went to UAE for 5 years working and when we cal him to contribute, he always explode at us that " do we think money is growing on trees in Dubai?"
Number 2 - it is the myopic view of an average black.
A bad economy in Nigeria favours no one. Even when they build in Nigeria, the house rent when converted back to dollar to repartraite back will be so useless, it will be better to use the initial cash to do something else abroad.

Op has not seen how families have lost their children into the system. How families are torn apart.

OP has never seen anything
The Op statement is a sarcasm.
He is kind of throwing jabs at japa crew.
Read between the lines bro.
For me, I even want people to japa.
It is good for them.
Many people are here in Nigeria lazying around and will immediately buckle their belts when they travel abroad when they know if they don't work, they will die of hunger because no one to look their face.
Also, there is no point seeing someone struggling here regularly asking you for money when he can stay by himself abroad and also contribute his quota to the family development.
It is better my brother japa and find something doing for himself so that I can always have someone to call for contribution for family event. Not just only me bearing the full loads.
Also, life is rub my back I rub your back.
It is better to have more friends and family you can always call for help during emergency than none and they can always call you for financial assistance too pending when you pay back.
What I just don't like in all these is the mentality of the average typical black man.
Most japa crew deep down never pray for Nigeria to work.
The more bad news they here, the better they feel for taking the decision of traveling out.
I guess it is a consolation to them for the hard life they re facing over there.
Many always pray for naira to devalue more so that they can always have that hedge against the ones at home but then, the sky is big enough for every bird to fly.
Why will you be wishing and praying to succeed in the new country you are going while hoping the ones you left behind never succeed too? No be witch be that?
What is the joy you derive seeing people you left behind struggling? So as to be mocking them? Because we all know it is not as if you will help them financially so why hoping they don't succeed? Yet you want to succeed.
It is crazy continent with a pull him down syndrome.
