Good day gurus in the house, please I want your take on Cap, Dansugar and Wapco as dividend income stocks for long term
You can go in but be watching the fundamentals if it shows otherwise anytime you can divest. Those stocks you mentioned have been paying dividend since I know them.
One major thing with them - their products is needed by all. Cap has always be the cash cow of UACN. Dangsugar enjoys some previlages and Wapco is out of the woods.

Abeg oh, who fit answer this question?
You can talk to your stockbroker.
Some negotiates with heavy trader HNI's when it comes to brokers commission.
Note it's just their commission they have power over other charges like cscs, vat, stamp duty etc are not in their control.

Guys I really need your help with this question.
If i submit an e-dividend form to my bank with my signature and passport picture.
Do i still need to complete a share transfer form and send it to my stockbroker?
If you bought shares from the floor of the NGX
It's through transfer form the registrars is suppose to get your signature specimen hence you are to complete the transfer form and submit to your stockbroker who in turn send to the cscs onward to the registrar. It's after that you are to submit your e-dividend to either your bank or the registrar.

WHAT DAY WILL THIS BONUS BE DISTRIBUTED TO SHAREHOLDERS?
I can't find that information anywhere.
The date bonus shares are to be credited to investors' cscs account is not normally stated by the company declaring it. Once you qualify, the stock marked down and regulatory approval gotten, bonus shares can be credited any time even if you sell all your holdings the bonus will still be credited to your cscs.

If I invest 1m am getting 50k at the end of the year
No, you will get more than that; at the current rate you get 63,900 and by every indication the way rates are going you will still get more.
Rates for MMF are daily valued and not static. In addition, you will be paid the interest quarterly and that interest can still be reinvested, on the long run with the principle of compound interest you have close to 8% or more of your capital.

Good evening guys, Pls I REDEEMED my two (2) stanbic mutual funds today and was credited today but I suddenly change my mind nd wish to return those funds back respectively to their mutual funds accounts. What will likely b my sanctions?
No sanction if the respective funds you redeemed stayed the minimum holding periods and no fund manager will sanction you for bringing in your money because that is what keeps them in business.

CBN should allow Unity Bank to Rest in Peace. Instead of wasting tax payers money on fruitless ventures like the nationalisation of Unity Bank.

Who is the investor that will buy a bank with a negative shareholders fund of about negative N250 billion
The CBN actions shows how powerful cabals can be where professionalism and right thinking approach to economic issues are the least considered options in decision making.

Hello, please can someone explain how i can get my dividents through my bank, do i have to fill the e-divident form for all my holdings? Please someone should explain. Thanks
Fill e-mandate for each of the registrars in charge of your holdings in different companies and submit at your bank. E. g you will fill two mandates if you have Access and zenith but fill one if you have stanbic and first bank.

That won't apply as i have had the account for over 2 years.

As for the additional payment/returns outside of the 4.5%, do we know relatively what additional percent? (historically)?

maybe @emmasoft can enlighten me.
The additional earnings is very much dependent on the fund's performance which in turn is dependent on the prevailing rates. Usually between 2 to 3.5%. It's not Gurranteed in any way like the benchmark rate but because fund managers and other parties to the fund get paid from the extra it's almost certain that there will be extra because fund mangers must work hard to get pay for their professional inputs.

I'm not sure this still holds.

My investment wasn't up to six months when I withdrew all of it and I got the entire money with the capital intact.
It still holds. But at no time will your capital be deducted. The 10% deduction is from your interest perhaps it's how you did your calculations the deduction is system base it would have been removed before you get credited.

6 months in a given year or 6 months after opening the account?.
6 months from the date of your deposit.
However, the returns are prorated from the date of your deposit to the next payment date which is January or July so that you always get a return whenever you are existing before 6 months after penalty is deducted from your earnings.

Hello Nairalander, my mother bought Guiness shares in the 70s and the last time she claimed the dividends was in 1995. Fast forward to 2021 she want to claim the dividends again but her country has changed as she now lives in the US with my siblings..,I called the agency in charge and I am told she need to instruct her bank to issue an e-mandate. Her account has not been in use since 2016 when she left Nigeria. My question is can I, her son go to the bank to find out the status of her account and what can I do to get the bank to send the e-mandate to the agency in charge of the shares. She is 85 years old she can't really do much..Please, Advise on what to do. Thanks in advance.
There are two issues to handle here and if one is done properly the other will be easy.

First issue is that your mum's bank account has gone domant that is the first issue to be cleared. The bank account needs to be reactivated and that can be done by contacting the bank through mail or call.
Mind you the bank can not attend to a third party in this regard.

Once the account is reactivated,
The other thing to do is send a completed e-mandate form to the registrars in charge.
All outstanding dividend not older than 12 years will be credited to her bank account.

If you wish to take possession of the shares going forward, then your mum will have to open a cscs account if she doesn't have one. She can then demat the shares if they are still in paper certificates.
You will have to open a cscs account with the same stockbroking firm. From anywhere in the globe a transfer mandate can be executed and all the shares becomes yours going forward.

hi everyone

pls is there any way/an app to buy stocks directly without going through a stockbroker?

I want to invest in the NSE and NYSE for now

I have little capital
The normal convention to access the stock market is through a stockbroking firm.

The app or the online trading platform are tied to a broking firm one way or the other.

I will advice you open a stockbroking account with investment one and use the ziing app powered by them to trade at the exchange directly.

I have about N100,000 what Nigerian stocks will you guys advise me to buy as a student. No insult please and what broker can I use?
I will advice you first keep the cash in a regulated and safe mutual fund like VGIF or Abacus money market fund and learn more about stock investment and how the stock market works. Though you don't have to be an expert before you invest but having basic knowledge about what you want to invest in is very important.
With that you can now invest in good fundamental stocks that pays dividend regularly and since you are still in school you can do well to reinvest the dividends while you build your saving and investment culture.

It's true that past performance doesn't determine future performance of an investment but going by past and current status of stock like GTBank and Zenith bank, any of them could be a good buy with a long term in view.

I will recommend Investment One Financial Services (Former GTBank Asset Management) as an investment firm of high repute and fully SEC compliant for you to do business with.

To open account for free click on the link on my signature. All transactions can be done online.
You can as well reach me with the contact on my signature if you need further guidance.

Just saw May 5th for (2020 AFS) $0.05 and May 13th for (2021Q1) 2.5 cents.

It looks like the dividends is quite low. It is around 10 naira if my calculation is correct. All these claim of paying in USD is probably to put a wool over our head.
It's N20.512 base on the exchange rate (410.24 to $1) they posted yesterday, the June payment will be half of that if they use same conversion rate.

Good day, do I need to send a mail that my dividends should be reinvested?
No you don't need to send mail it's automatic However, that is if you pick reinvestment option at the point of registration.

But if otherwise or you are not sure of the option you picked then you can send a mail to customer care that going forward you want your dividend reinvested.

NB you can always make a change as to how your dividend should be utilized before any of the payment dates.

Mr Emmasoft

For the VGIF does your first six months start counting when you open the account or will you get a prorated dividend in July if you invest like in May.
tnxs.
You will get a prorated dividend paid anytime you invest. There are two payment dates - July 1st and January 1st.
So if you invest say May 5th you will get dividend paid July 1st for the period - May 5th to June 30th. Even if you invest on June 29th in the morning you will be paid for the two days.
The same applied if you opt for dividend reinvestment. The prorated dividend is reinvested July or January.

I'm also considering the vgif, but have a concern about ease of redemption. Goin thru d thread, I read someone complain about time taken to get his funds. . .
Redemption is easy and operations has greatly improved over time. It takes three working days.
The case you read could be a one off situation and perhaps something went wrong for that particular transaction it doesn't mean that is the rule.

Don't be scared your money is safe, secured and Gurranteed with VGIF. It's fully regulated by SEC.

To register click on the link on my signature.
It's free. It requires just your kyc to be attached to the online form and in 48hrs your account is opened.

You can reach me with the phone number on my signature as well, I can send a voice note explaining more on how VGIF works.

You can trace every transaction on your holdings from the registrar. The cscs can also help.

First go to the office of the registrar in charge of the stock and request statement and transactions of your holdings.

The registrar knows the day you first bought the stock and when it was transferred to another investor; This is why you here of close period when a company have corporate action like dividend or bonus. The registrar can trace investors holdings and their status.

The cscs can go further to know further details on the transactions.

However, with the fact that your former broker has gone under and also considering the amount involved that will determine if its worth the wahala.
