Image123: @OPI said . . ."Ok. I’m no expert on the Bible even though I’m an avid reader and that’s why I ask many questions even though I may be wrong in some of my assertions". Anyway what of my question pertaining to men and women and their status that you conveniently sidestepped just to score meager points? |
ogugua88: I'm currently hooked, and now I'm more determined than ever to update my Francophone library.Sahelian Music (Senegal + Mali) is so rich. But I'm addicted to Dobet Gnahoré of Cote d'Ivoire. Don't know how to post vids but I'll recommend "Jho Avido", "Abiana" and "Samahani" but she's just awesome ![]() Here's the one I'm currently in love withnice! |
Are the roles of men and women according to religious constitution maintained on earth applicable in heaven? Or is there no recognition of gender in a celestial body/habitat? Will those who "saved" the most souls be greatly rewarded than those who "saved" the least? Are those who lead the most virtuous life on earth going to be favoured in heaven? Will every "saint" be of equal standing and significance? |
I don’t particularly miss anything about my forced upon “faith” (and I use the word “faith” for the sake of communication but in retrospect it was anything but faith) If anything I felt this indoctrinated dogma was inhibiting me. I was actually wrestling with some of the tenets and my questions were building. I believe one does not need religion to have “faith” in that in which they call “god” and not all religious people have "faith". That does not mean I don’t believe that there were no elements of truth in my former belief system. Although I felt this thing of a religion was stunting my growth. But there are certain things that perhaps I look back in my life and breathe a sigh of relief and say thank goodness I had been trained in that “faith” else I may have just invited something injurious in my life because I wouldn’t have thought to be cautious then (which is ironic as now I’m cautious of religion lol) and other times I despair that it had inhibited so much of my personal being. I don’t feel empty quite the opposite rather and my appreciation for life has soared, maybe because I’m still conscious of a creator as opposed to limiting the span of my existence to the physical senses alone or the perimeters of religion. I felt empty with religion. I still believe there is light at the end of every tunnel – religion was my dark tunnel. Just before I finally severed all ties with my former belief system I fell into a morbid depression and I felt my spirit was being sapped. But during my dark episode I was being encouraged the more to be dependent on a god I wasn't in love with thus compounding my misery and of course contempt. I mean how dare I not adhere to a god that sees me as second-rate. How satanic of me. However I would not say that religion was the sole reason for my depression perhaps just a catalyst. But currently I’m happy and thinking back in the past when I was struggling with my unbelief it was pretty tough having to force a smile whenever I bothered to attend church because inside I was crying. I was hurt because I knew nobody would understand and the pretence was killing me. I was extremely conflicted. I know that some people in my life were disappointed with my departure from that “faith” and whilst I never intended to cause deliberate grief for anyone, leaving my former belief system was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. |
P.S. To adherents of this tenet; is there equality in "heaven"? |
taryour: Impossible!! A Man & A Woman Can Never & Will Never Be Equal.Men and woman are not equal. We are different. But our differences should be equally respected. The same with race. The same with sexuality. Etc. If I was to invent a religion today and have as part of my tenet that men should submit to women as women should be the head . . .now where does that leave us? Is that not clearly biased? Discrimination? Sexist? It's understandble why men would want to accept this teaching as truth but why women ![]() |
buzugee: This aint america baby. we dont sue people anyhow hereOf course, stoning is more apt. |
buzugee: An enlightened sister right hereSue me. |
buzugee: hmmm good question, i go for option 'C', To have belief and not do evilStrange as you fit into "B". Evil extends to thoughts as well. |
Interesting how some believers threaten others with hell because they perhaps cannot sway solely with the promises of god. Avicenna: @emofineOk I understand ![]() |
mkmyers45: Can you please open such a thread?Lol why don't you create the thread? |
Free? Free of what?. . . Free of god? Free of religion? Free to find your own truth? Free to exercise your unbelief? I'm sorry to say this but perhaps you're not free. The fact you may have to conceal your irreligious status what's more pose as a "leader" whist reconciling with your unbelief is not at all a free setting and whilst it's largely due to cultural constraint and intolerance sadly at the end of the day you are not free from rebuke, pretense worst of all society. Even still as an unbeliever or apostate religion still has an effect. You are free to disagree with me sha. Good luck on your journey. |
sauer: Nerds may be such smart blokes who can turn every Dell or HP inside outMy dad's a nerd but sha he ![]() |
deols: Men do henna too.If so I'd love to see that ![]() deols: the writings on the face above seems like photoshop to me.Yep.
was this your reason for duplicating the topic? ![]() do you feel too big to post on the other thread or what exactly. I dont talk am say na bad belle go finish una.
Like Do I know you? |
buzugee: since they are full of hot air, we should use them to propel hot air balloons. logicboy logic-mind martian mkmyers45emo who? ![]() I've told you time and time again that I am not an "atheist". By the way which is better my dear “Hebrew” fiend. . .to have unbelief or to do evil in God’s name? |
buzugee: i see things from a spiritual aspectLies. You see things from a racial aspect. |
Image123: Jesus did not come to save you from slave trade, He came to save us from sin.Since slave trade is a sin, so sinners came to give africans salvation? mkmyers45: Can you do me a favour and fully explain your spiritual inclination? Are you still subjected to christainity or are you an atheist?I'm not a christian but I'm subjected to constant threats of perishing in hell. I don't feel this is perhaps the best thread to fully explain my spiritual inclination as it may deviate somewhat from the point of this topic however if there was an appropriate thread that catered for such then I'll gladly share my beliefs with you. And contrary to popular belief in the religious section I'm not an atheist. |
I actually haven’t watched the videos yet so my early response may have no correlation with the videos or perhaps my rhetorical questions have been addressed. However I was struck by the question. This is actually a rather good question - the wordings that is. Because if art is subjective then is there a universal truth to art? Or better yet is there one truth that holds for any art? Thus how does this affect one spiritually? I’ll watch those videos shortly. |
By the way since this is a celebration of the Arts thread . . .what about Islamic Literature? |
Oh my goodness I can't believe I actually missed this thread ![]() I probably wouldn't have created the Islamic Art's thread if I visited here sooner ![]() By the way I love that 90th century Iraq Mosque but that Malaysian crytsal Mosque kinda looks disney fairytale-ish ![]() |
I wonder how the art is in Northern Nigeria. Do you have to be a Muslim to depict Islamic art? Sahelian Architecture is amazing. Great Mosque of Djenné in Mali: https://palinstravels.co.uk/photos/sah/main/sah_128_01_l.jpg https://www.safaris2africa.com/wp-content/uploads/mali-mosque-djenne.jpg |
maclatunji: As far as I know, Henna is permissible in Islam. A wife is allowed to use it to dazzle her husband anyway. ![]() Yeah I gathered it must have been allowed in Islam, I was just wondering if it's root was Islamic. tbaba1234: Henna is used by different people: the root of the name is Arabic so it probably originated from the Arabs.....Hmm not too sure if it originated from the Arabs. Some cultures practiced this art for a long time but maybe Muslims call it henna because Arabic is the lingua franca of Islam. |
tbaba1234: What do you mean mediums??Basically the materials used to convey the art i.e clay, paint. |
I'm wondering . . .since certain illustrations are prohibited in Islam, are certain materials/mediums prohibited in Islam also? |
I’m a huge fan of henna art. Is it a Muslim thing though? Or are the countries that practise this art just happen to be predominantly Muslim? I guess there are cultural references in this art however. https://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsknsxHvJn1qhula8o1_500.jpg https://freefashionupdates.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/modern-eid-henna-designs-for-hands-mehndi-1.jpg https://www.themuslimbride.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Sanas-Bridal-Henna-on-Feet-By-Sumeyya-The-Muslim-Bride.jpg |
tbaba1234: Muslims did make such sculptures, though. Islam spread quickly across a vast area..... From China to spain....So It is not uncommon to see expressions of art that are not traditionally islamic in nature.Interesting, so perhaps some Muslim artists lean more on cultural aspects or are avant-garde. |
^^^ Lol this figure looks like somebody I know. . .well similar in certain respects ![]() |
@Tbaba thanks for the info and images. But how comes the Iranian plaque depicts an animal figure and a human figure? I thought such was prohibited in Islam? Great display of work however. Sweetnecta: that artist seem to me like a renegade by the writing on sole if nothing else express the subtle ideology he/she holds.I actually enjoyed your analysis. That was pretty thought-provoking. However if the work offends I can take it down if you want. |
^^^ Intriguing. |
find something else to do with your time, sweetie.
Forgive me for caring about my continent's heritage but please don't call me "sweetie", you don't know me. |
