Novice1: Great work Inspired.

Fact is, to buy a blue title vehicle in the the US, import it into Nigeria and clear it paying all the legal dues, you cant sell that vehicle at prevaiing market prices and make a profit.

Additionally, some damaged/collision vehicles can be rebuilt to near-pristine situations.
Some examples coming up shortly grin
Youre Right, But 99% Percent of the Time, These vehicles are Not Repaired to Standard before passed on to Unsuspecting Buyers, It happens Everyday.

The Cost of Parts and Labor to Repair these vehicles to SAFE Standards wont be worth the whole stress and Investment for an Average Nigerian Dealer.

An Honest Dealer/Seller Can Import a Clean title vehicle and Still make a Decent Profit, and thats why we are taking our Time to Inform BUYERS that Good and Safe cars dont come Cheap
.
I bet you, the most annoying of your last sentence is when people compare apples and oranges.
Statements like, 'is it not the same car someone is offering me for 2m, it should even be cheaper pre-ordering'.
I feel like smacking clients who make statements above. . . . it reeks of ignorance. But we will keep advising.
Bros, Your Statements Again Are CONTRADICTORY. wink

You wanted to Purchase Dollars through CBN Bidding.

The Standard Procedure with CBN is if you Bid on Monday, The Dollars will be Ready on Wednesday by 2.00pm.

You Saying you paid for late fee Because you didn't get the Dollars on Monday is irreconciliable Cos Even if we went ahead to deal on Monday, the earliest you would have got the Dollars would have been by 2.30pm on Wednesday Anyway. wink

BE that as it may, You are the EMPEROH and I am Loyal Sir, I will Buzz you on BB and we can discuss this Roundtable, I will also enroll for your Customer Services Lectures. wink

Cheers
Why are you Creating a FALSE Impression here, Did you pay One Kobo into my Account or Did we Agree on any RATE ?

You Simply asked for the Rate to Change DOLLAR and Because Of Currency Fluctuation I held on to Supplying you my Account details, I needed to be Sure We could do the Deal at an Agreed Rate.

It was a Monday, It was CBN Bidding day and I would not know the rate until Later in the Day, Yesterday was a Public Holiday.
Don't over-flog this issue. I called u repeatedly to know ur decision.
If u had at least answered or returned my calls, a simple sms or bb message would do.
U gave me the impression that the CBN rate would soon be there that i should wait, that once u confirm, we will go ahead and deal.

It is not only when a client pays u that u have failed. Customer services starts at the point of inquiry.
I am only angry cos u wasted the day for me. I could have planned ahead and taken the pains to withdraw cash and look for an Aboki to deal with. But cos u offered some form of convenience, i felt it was better. This isn't the first time
u are doing this to me. Remember the dollar request in February? U never reverted!

I don't mean to heat things up but a simple apology from u will not change the direction of ur clients!
U really messed me big time.
I am having to pay late fees now and i told u my situation. I kinda put all ma eggs in a basket so i take part of the blame.
If u didn't have enough, you could have simply told me. I approached u cos of the convenience it offered me. I had offers for 162
but it meant i had to withdraw and carry around fund.

Anyway sha, i have it sorted. But i already have an impression!

I am wondering at what kind of 'learned' people we have here?
So because they will come and 'harass' you that is why you will give some miscreants money for a private activity?
Chai! I shake my head in amazement!

For me oh, i no go pay, when the note droppers decide to face me, we sort it out.
If them want katakata, we go do am our way. I do rather call police and spend more than that 5k and put the boys in their stead
than give them the money. Next time, if i block street, dem go think 4 times before them venture near my gate.

Guy, if i be you, i go go notify Olokpa. If necessary, settle them and then wait for the guys to show up.
But if in the end, it is proven that this is legal, kindly go and pay into LG account.
If you have the might, u can fight with any NGO to have that law repealed.

My own contribution!

AutosRe: Make Sure You Inspect Vehicles Before You Buy Them by Emperoh(m): 1:26pm On May 22, 2012
lagerwhenindoubt: It is particularly sad that nearly everyone on this thread has discounted the very essence of Salesmanship - TRUST , rather we have focused on blaming Alhaji for not inspecting a car before buying it. I suspect that a lot of posters on this thread are actually car dealers and cannot bring themselves to the point of beign a buyer. It is a pathetic excuse we are all making for damola and it is a sad development for Nairaland Autos. If you all think that this issue will rest with this thread - you are dead wrong, a lot of viewers have made the realization that they cannot TRUST every Auto-sales Post they read on Nairaland. It is even more sad that many have actually gone to inspect the so-called CLEAN, MINT, PERFECT, CHILLING cars - have been disappointed. I know one Highlander in Festac on Nairaland that is similar to what Alhaji bought. The pictures posted are different from the actual car and it had more than superficial problems. The real owner could not be found after they pressured me to sign a cheque for the full amount to a 3rd party. This poster is still very much on Nairaland and one Nairalander will buy this car and be in a similar situation.

I wonder why we cannot bring ourselves to accept the plain fact that this Damola character is not Trustworthy, rather we blame a man who Trusted him well enough to pay him N2million for trash. Na waooo.
Chairman
Thanks for your input. I really appreciate your observation. You are one of the few person i respect on this forum, i don't know why grin grin shocked
You see, i really get worried when issues like this crop up because without some of our dealers knowing it, it is our business that gets to suffer.
You don't really get to know until you deal with someone who doesn't trust you or your judgement(this is the worst). Or when you lose sales to a rival
who you are dead sure doesn't have as much quality cars as you do.

I was surprised that given the vituperations pouring in from incensed buyers or observers, no dealer bar a few made any attempt to put things in perspective.
The seller was never, has never been, but may intend to be a dealer. But for the case in point, he is not one. Hence i find it hard to swallow
when people lump us all up, either as a pre-conceived notion or a reading carelessness. Whichever it is, it doesn't favour me as a dealer or any dealer for that matter.

But my main grouse is the issue of trust. I thank God for one thing; the seller didn't keep mute. He came back to at least salvage whatever is left of his name.
I really pity him cos from my little 'ignorance', I want to believe he did not set out to sell a lemon to the buyer, but is guilty and is paying for not fully revealing the condition or history of the unit he sold. He is paying for that now. Maybe if that car hadn't over heat along the road, we may never have heard of this deal till today.

I am also worried because i know that the future of sales in digital. People needn't leave the comfort of their homes or offices to buy or sell their wares; cars inclusive. And this can only be achieved when trust in entrenched. Therefore i shudder to think what will happen in this age of e-commerce if buyers can't trust sellers to fully disclose the condition or the exact situation their goods are in. We are already seeing the result in what Inspired M is doing here; clearing all the pre-order deals on Nairaland, simply because people can trust his final product. I urge him to keep up the game and never falter. Someone like me is also working hard to be sure i attain and surpass that standard. It is for this reason that i find it hard to believe that people are bashing Lekky 2 for his decision to buy sans inspection. At least from his experience, he has done a deal like this before and it worked out well.

Finally, you observers and buyers owe us a lot. U discovered something terrible that someone else is likely to fall into and u are keeping mute! WHY??
Expose the damn dealer and blacklist him huh!!!! Why do have to wait till someone is scammed before u say, "i knew it"! You are not showing love to your neighbour if you keep hiding such a dealer in our midst. If we intend benefiting from the buying convenience and comfort this real estate offers us, then it is up to us all to make it clean by exposing those out to sell lemons. It is like someone passing thru a robbery scene unhurt and then goes past a close check-point on his way without alerting the police to what is going on behind them. Where is our love for one another??!!! Must we emulate the said dealers we demonise in this regard? Hell No!!

It is to user credit that some level of exposure and openness is being attached to car sales here. People will have to disclose VIN and other issues with their cars to advertise. It is to our credit that Lekky 2 came back and is getting justice for what was done wrongly to him. I can assure you, you will hardly come by such a positive feedback from road side deals. If you do, let me know where you got such so i can go commend the person involved.

Hence, in as much as we think dealers are fraudulent, it is up to us to expose those who take advantage of us all. Those who know me will tell u that even if u approach me to buy a car and i don't have what you are looking for, that parting shot from me will be tips on how to buy the right unit.

Whatever be the case,we can only get better with time. We are not yet there, but with continuous, conscious effort, we will get there in a short time.
IT IS WELL WITH US!

Damola1, Lekky, u guys have shown respect and reputation expected of mature men
I have never doubted that with common sense and a feel of empathy, we can always amicably resolve issues like this.
It is only money and not life. I am daily checking this thread to see to the amicable resolution of this issue.
God bless you two. I trust that whenever this vehicle is resurrected, Lekky will still buy this car.

For those not trusting deals on Nairaland, let me know how many of u will get such a refund or complaint desk for off Nairaland deals
Dealers here at least have a face for those who want to see them. Nothing is hidden and we have championed the cause of educating buyers
so that even if u don't buy here, u can use your wealth of knowledge to negotiate deals off here.
Howdy homie, longest time no see, pray tell where the thread of lists of credible NL Dealers is?

I see one such fancy thread full of hot air and baloney stickied on the front page. . .because from where I am sitting (which is a vantage point bearing in mind that it is the most cushy room in yabaleft) I have turned the thread inside out and upside down, yet cannot pinpoint "one" form of protection/fallback/recourse for buyers from the Dealers oh. . . But then being someone of great faith, I would like to believe the months-old-mediocre-thread is still a work-in-progress just as Rome was not built in one day. . . cool
How many dealers will reveal your identities including business addy on a public forum.

When German007 had issues here, it was tabled here and at least, resolution started here
Same as when some dude took a swipe at Inspired. Fhemmy had same issues as well as me. No where can u get such a rapid response without having to use
