I wish u knew how many deals i had lost before now.
I was on my laptop from 3.00pm when IAA normally starts bidding till like 10pm when Copart and Autoexchange closes for almost 3 weeks
Just for the colour, there was a black 2007 sold on IAA Texas for just 6900 last week monday

The craziest were the RAV4s. I am also watching three now and their prices have gone beyond my budget.
I am not endorsing Salvage cars but i sure know what to go for to cut costs and still get a good deal.
I paid for the car today and already called my trucking guy to move in and pick it to my brother's place in NJ from where the journey to Naija starts
I will surely set up a thread for this unit once it sets sail.

What state did u buy  that Accord from? I couldn't believe the mileage and the condition.
mine was from Pittsburgh.
I think the trick for cheap cars lies mostly in their closing pre-bid price. I normally add another $1500 + or -
And then, Ohio is a major trick for me. I get cheap rides from Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati. . .enough of the secrets

Bros, as I have always pointed out in your posts lately, I have followed your post religiously, since I joined nairaland, your style and sincerity (@ least by the way you lay adverts down yakata!) trips me, thus whenever I see a post from you I always read. perhaps thinking of doing biz with you even if its not to buy a car, (I could recall some Engine parts u once advertised, same with Honda transmission fluid and many stuff as such)

However, in recent times, your prices seem way off the roof, at least from my perspective, No doubt, its possible many other dealers could be involved in shady acts, but u sure would agree not all of them, I would suggest you stand in here more competitive than ever.

Oga mi, a lot of things have happened between November last year and now that are "unnecessarily" hiking the price of cars.
But anyone not in the know might think we are being dodgy. But like we've always warned, be sure u are not sold a crashed car in the name of cheap cars. It is pertinent you know these things hence i will just state a few.

Clearing Cost = Ask any agent in the house and he will tell you clearing has added about 30-70 depending on the terminal your unit is dropping in. I will give u an instance. I cleared a 2006 Accord Kunle-A got for me last November for N280k shipped thru Grimaldi. The same unit which should be cheaper as we are in a newer year i can only clear at 320k . I cleared a 2006 Toyota Corolla shipped thru Hoegh just before the fuel subsidy strike for N310k. But i am given a bill of almost N400k for a 2006 Toyota Avalon thru the same shipping line. This is just one of a few situations

Tax Holiday: We've always said it, if you want to get cars cheap, shop between October and December of any year. Cold weather and heavy taxes make people spend less and not willing to buy as much. But with the tax holiday already on, a lot of disposable income are on the fly. U do see crazy prices for cars.

High Gasoline prices has also made small engine units become pricey and in more demand. But i am glad we seem to be gaining on the forex side. As at the december era, U$D was going for 165 but at least it's dropped to 160 as at yesterday and i hope it goes further down today.

Hence i always advice people to research before hitting the road.
