Great car!! And u can always trust Adexfem for problem free clearing!! |
Fhemmy et al!!! Delivering a car to the East or outside Lagos is not a job for the faint hearted!! I have done this a couple of times, the last one being Saturday May 22nd, and i have decided i won't do this AGAIN!!! Its not worth my peace of mind. So whether its Cotonou or TINCAN cleared You should get a uniformed officer to deliver such a car. If the car is registered, your greatest headache is Ogun state and maybe Benin. After Ogun, N200 matter. But Ogun is the worse and there are between 12 and 15 Police check-points in Ogun alone and also 2 Customs check points at the Toll Gate and Ogbere, there could also be another one at Igbokoda, then Okada(not constant) Edo State and Benin By pass and Former Toll Gate. The likely thing you will hear from the Custom Officers is that you didn't pay the correct excise duty on the vehicle. i.e you shortchanged the Customs service. . . . . . the 'fine' for this is between 2-5k depending on your negotiating skills. Customs hardly pays any heed or respect to other uniformed officers like Police and Army but sure do have some level of respect for the Military. So, if your car na Cotonou, abeg, find BETTER commissioned MILITARY officer NOT Police. Whatever his rank, UNLESS he is driving the car ALONE!! The above is how to avoid customs. Bear in mind, Customs will ask for the clearing documents as long as the car was registered in the last One month. If na pure tokunbo from Tincan being driven without number, and u did ur clearing wella, don't fear, it won't be impounded, but u must DROP. But if you really did shortchange or say na Cotonou motor and you didn't pay duty, abeg find Military man and soak ur chaplet for water. ![]() Police. Whether na Tincan cleared, Cotonou or Lome you are most likely to drop!!!The major bottleneck for new cars is Ogun state. The trick employed is trying everything thing in the book to find a loop hole in ur vehicle documents From not signing where u are meant to, to ur tinted glass permit(on cars applicable) being fake(u must give at least a 5day space between date of vehicle registration and date of tint permit else, na wahala that will make u N5k poorer) and then to cars carrying registration plates of other states aside Lagos and Ogun, they will query you with 'Registration in Absentia'. Meaning, that you are meant to take the said vehicle to the licencing office for sighting before being registered. I encountered this one in my last trip and i was fleeced N5k. And then to other sundry charges all aimed at getting money from you. And the 'fine' ranges from N1k - N10k depending on your skills in negotiation and the Officer you met. Again, if the car na unregistered Tincan cleared tokunbo, you must be dropping N200.00 at every check point else they will be stopping and checking your documents and wasting your time unnecessarily!! But their case na moi-moi if you have a uniformed officer with you. They will only beg you to drop something!!! All the above is meant for you if you driving the car yourself without any uniformed officer. So, back to your question. Bros, no officer whether Police or Military even Civil Defence will collect N5k from you to deliver a car to Abj, SE or SS.If you are gonna drive, budget like 15k if he's gonna drive, 25-30k to sort himself out excluding fueling the car. Call Inspired and ask him how much he pays his Military driver to deliver cars to Warri and PH, to have an idea of what am saying. By and large, for your peace of mind, get a uniformed officer(military). But if you must do it yourself, be 'over'sure that your papers are in ORDER. Its easier to drive an unregistered tokunbo car than a registered one. If your papers are in order, you just have customs to sort out!! My little experience!! |

Seun I really do not think this is worth your attention at the moment. The accuser is yet to come out to paint a very clear picture of what happened to him and how he was defrauded even though the accused is no longer seen on Nairaland and is being alleged to have re-appeared with another user-name. As long as these things are not clear, there is practically nothing to investigate or act about. This site is not new to scandals and this will never be the last. I just hope genuine members like us are not affected. People like Inspired_M who went thru these sort of smear campaign have come out better equipped. So let the accused and accuser come up with their case if there is any. At the moment, there is nothing of substance to hold on to. Labiyemi I wouldn't really denigrate your opinion but i also wouldn't want to agree with you that everything done on the www. or anything bought without being seen is fraud. Cos this is what you intend to portray by your comment. Nevertheless, if you intend to find out how these things work, why not find time to visit either of Inspired_M, Me or German007 who are resident full time in Nigeria and find out how these things work? If we have been able to create an avenue where we can do auto business as this, why can't we take it a step further and investigate the credibility of those involved. I for one won't go into something i can't do and also scared of having someone chase my arse around for fraud!! I have an image and won't do anything to tarnish it. Pre-order arrangements are not just cheaper, you get clean vehicles and also a larger option of getting what exactly you want. Roadside dealers why not being totally wrong cannot be compared to Pre-order. At the roadside, you are the mercy of lemons being sold to you to to other levels of fraud being perpetuated. U also cannot discern between normal import to Cotonou lemons and whole lot of nonsense these guys do. If you think i am lying, pls take a trip to Berger, price a car, and get the chasis for us. Then you can see for yourself. There however still honest ones amongst them. Nevertheless, there are dishonest and fraudulent people in all human endeavours. Try and confirm the credibility of whomever you are dealing with. Confirm their residence and business officers if need be. We can't keep living in dis-trust of one another. Find things our for yourself!! I rest my case!! |
