Christianity EtcRe: Daily Fountain Devotional Guide 2025 (Anglican Communion) by emynike2001(op): 5:24am On Sep 23, 2025
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* TUESDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER, 2025

*THEME:* THE LIPS OF A PRIEST OUGHT TO PRESERVE KNOWLEDGE

*TEXT:* MALACHI 2: 1-9 _*(NKJV)*_

2:1. "And now, O priests, this commandment is for you.
2:2. If you will not hear, And if you will not take [it] to heart, To give glory to My name," Says the LORD of hosts, "I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, Because you do not take [it] to heart.
2:3. "Behold, I will rebuke your descendants And spread refuse on your faces, The refuse of your solemn feasts; And [one] will take you away with it.
2:4. Then you shall know that I have sent this commandment to you, That My covenant with Levi may continue," Says the LORD of hosts.
2:5. "My covenant was with him, [one] of life and peace, And I gave them to him [that he might] fear [Me;] So he feared Me And was reverent before My name.
2:6. The law of truth was in his mouth, And injustice was not found on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and equity, And turned many away from iniquity.
2:7. "For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And [people] should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
2:8. But you have departed from the way; You have caused many to stumble at the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi," Says the LORD of hosts.
2:9. "Therefore I also have made you contemptible and base Before all the people, Because you have not kept My ways But have shown partiality in the law."

*MESSAGE:*

Malachi in our text offers a plain message directed at the priests of Israel. This message also holds valuable lessons for all of us called to leadership roles, whether within the church or in our daily lives. God entrusted the priests with the task of being guardians and teachers, ensuring God's instructions reached the people. However, God laments that the priests have scattered his instruction "to the wind" and "turned away" from the covenant (vv. 3 & 4). This neglect has consequences-God threatened to "curse their blessings" and "'spread dung over their faces" (v.5).

As leaders, religious or secular, we hold a great responsibility. We are entrusted with guiding others, shaping their understanding, and setting an example. When we fail to uphold our responsibilities, the consequences can be great. We risk misleading those we are called to serve, and our influence can be tarnished. Our passage today highlights that the Levite priests of old were committed to their calling and served with integrity. Today's leaders are challenged to reflect on old-time faith and leaders, follow their example, embody the values they preach, and guide others with honesty and dedication. Our actions speak louder than words. If we don't live by the principles we advocate, we _"cause many to stumble in the law"_ (v.cool.

*PRAYER:*
Dear God, help me to be faithful stewards of Your word and grace; *Amen!*

*QUOTE FOR THE DAY*

Christianity EtcRe: Daily Fountain Devotional Guide 2025 (Anglican Communion) by emynike2001(op): 9:38am On Sep 14, 2025
THE DAILY FOUNTAIN
DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE
CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION)
DATE: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2025
(Trinity 13 - Holy Cross Day)
TOPIC: THE RICHES OF THE CROSS
READ: JOHN 12:31-36 (NKJV)

12:31. "Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
12:32. "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all [peoples] to Myself."
12:33. This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
12:34. The people answered Him, "We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how [can] You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?"
12:35. Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.
12:36. "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.

THE MESSAGE:

The cross is Christ's emblem of suffering, shame and death. A believer in Christ should not be ashamed of his cross but should rather glory in it, as Apostle Paul said (verse 14). Jesus Christ also says: "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself first, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23). No cross, no crown, goes a popular saying: on the cross, Jesus Christ suffered beyond description, but He also conquered sin, self, satan and all challenges that are man's problems including curses, sicknesses, diseases, failures, death, etc. Furthermore, it was on the cross that Christ bought salvation to those who believe in Him. Paul referred to 'the enemies of the cross' as those who do not walk according to the mind of Christ but according to the desires of the flesh (Philippians 3:17-19).

As expected, Jesus received the greatest honour because He surrendered Himself, despised the shame and died the meanest of forms of death. This is the more reason why Paul said, "God forbids that I should glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14a). Therefore, any man that is identified with the cross of Christ has the world and its evil desires and affections crucified with him and is risen to a new life of holiness and righteousness with him, as well (Galatians 2:20; 6:14).

PRAYER: May I not glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

*DATE:* FRIDAY, 12TH SEPTEMBER, 2025

*THEME:* A BURDEN FOR THE WORD OF GOD

*TEXT:* MALACHI 1: 1-5 _*(NKJV)*_

1:1. The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.
1:2. " I have loved you," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'In what way have You loved us?' [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother?" Says the LORD. "Yet Jacob I have loved;
1:3. But Esau I have hated, And laid waste his mountains and his heritage For the jackals of the wilderness."
1:4. Even though Edom has said, "We have been impoverished, But we will return and build the desolate places," Thus says the LORD of hosts: "They may build, but I will throw down; They shall be called the Territory of Wickedness, And the people against whom the LORD will have indignation forever.
1:5. Your eyes shall see, And you shall say, 'The LORD is magnified beyond the border of Israel.'

*MESSAGE:*

The word burden is got from a Hebrew word which means 'to lift up.' Therefore, burden for the word of God means 'lifting the word of God.' The author of the Epistle to the Hebrews reveals that God in ancient times spoke to the ancestors through the prophets but, in these last days, He chose to speak to us through His Son Jesus Christ (Heb.1: 1). The word of God through the prophets and later through Jesus, was perfectly in harmony. Broadly, the word is of two different kinds namely: 'foretelling 'and 'forth-telling.' To forth-tell is to reveal the will, mind, law and instructions of God through verbal or written proclamation. To foretell on the other hand is to reveal the plans, program and purpose of God for humanity and the entire universe.

Jesus Christ who himself is the word of God (John 1: 1-4) came into the world and revealed the mind and law of God. He also made known the plans and purpose of God for the whole world. He called everyone to repentance and faith in God and revealed the ultimate purpose and plan of God for the salvation of mankind. This is the gospel that his followers are called to proclaim. As Jesus ascended into heaven, He handed over to us the work of proclaiming the word of God. It is therefore a necessity and divine obligation for all true followers of Christ to bear the burden of preaching the word of God at all times and in all places, to the end of the world (Matt 28: 19-20; 2 Tim. 4: 2; 1 Cor. 9:16).

*PRAYER:*
O Lord create in me holy zeal and burden to be an oracle of Your word, *Amen!*

*DATE:* THURSDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER, 2025 *THEME:* GOD'S ULTIMATE PURPOSE: HIS ETERNAL KINGDOM

*TEXT:* HAGGAI 2: 20-23 _*(NKJV)*_

2:20. And again the word of the LORD came to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month, saying,
2:21. "Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying: 'I will shake heaven and earth.
2:22. I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms; I will destroy the strength of the Gentile kingdoms. I will overthrow the chariots And those who ride in them; The horses and their riders shall come down, Every one by the sword of his brother.
2:23. 'In that day,' says the LORD of hosts, 'I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,' says the LORD, 'and will make you like a signet [ring;] for I have chosen you,' says the LORD of hosts."

*MESSAGE:*

The message in today's passage was addressed to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, when they returned from the Babylonian captivity. The prophecy is the repetition of the one in chapter two verse six. Essentially, it speaks of a future time when God would destroy all human kingdoms on earth to bring about his purpose of establishing an everlasting kingdom which will be ruled by his Messiah. In this text, Zerubbabel is used as a symbolic representation of the Messiah, the Eternal King to come. The significance here is that Zerubbabel is used as a leadership symbol for all nations in anticipation of the promised Messiah.

As Zerubbabel was the initial leader of the exiles when they returned from Babylon, Jesus of the Davidic dynasty, will be the Deliverer of all those who will seek to escape from the captivity of sin. He will lead those who desire freedom from the bondage of sin, and rule over them forever. The headquarters of his kingdom will be the new Jerusalem coming down from heaven (Rev. 21: 2) and will be established above all kingdoms (Dan. 2: 44). Jesus will reign as King from heaven over the whole universe (Eph. 1: 20-23). To qualify for his kingdom, it is required that one should be born again (John 3: 3) and set free from the slavery of sin, and walking by faith in Jesus and obedience to his leadership (Rom. 10: 17). This should be the ultimate goal of all believers.

*PRAYER:*
Lord, set me free from the bondage of sin and make me fit for Your eternal kingdom. *Amen*

*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_

*DATE:* WEDNESDAY, 10TH SEPTEMBER, 2025 *THEME:* HOLY ZEAL TO DO GOD'S WILL

*TEXT:* HAGGAI 2: 15-19 _*(NKJV)*_

2:15. ' And now, carefully consider from this day forward: from before stone was laid upon stone in the temple of the LORD --
2:16. 'since those [days,] when [one] came to a heap of twenty ephahs, there were [but] ten; when [one] came to the wine vat to draw out fifty baths from the press, there were [but] twenty.
2:17. 'I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not [turn] to Me,' says the LORD.
2:18. 'Consider now from this day forward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid -- consider it:
2:19. 'Is the seed still in the barn? As yet the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yielded [fruit. But] from this day I will bless [you.'] "

*MESSAGE:*

Our text today builds on the preceding one (Chapter 2: 10-14) which shows the people of Israel as unclean, and their sin was that they were selfish in laboring to build their own houses and pleasing themselves while neglecting the house of God (The Temple). God told them in today's passage that though they claimed to have repented from their sins by laying the foundation of the temple, they would still suffer and endure the consequences of their sins for a moment (v.17). However, following their repentance and restitution, their situations would begin to change for the better. The penalty or punishment for their sin would eventually be removed and a time of peace and joy would soon come (v.18).

As children of God, the difficulties and challenges that we face sometimes are the result of our disobedience and indifference to the work of God. For instance, financial hardship, debt, and business decline can be the result of non-payment of tithe and offering. Likewise, certain physical health challenges may be a result of unconfessed and hidden sin. The good news however is that we have the assurance of God's forgiveness and total restoration if we consider our ways and return to him in sincere repentance. Following our repentance, a moment of patience is needed as the time of punishment and suffering gradually winds off and we are fully restored (Acts 3: 19).

*PRAYER:*
O Lord my God, give me the passion to obey You and to do Your wish at all times, *Amen!*

*DATE:* TUESDAY, 9TH SEPTEMBER, 2025

*THEME:* AVOID SPIRITUAL DEFILEMENT

*TEXT:* HAGGAI 2: 10-14 _*(NKJV)*_

2:10. On the twenty-fourth [day] of the ninth [month,] in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying,
2:11. "Thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Now, ask the priests [concerning the] law, saying,
2:12. "If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?" ' " Then the priests answered and said, "No."
2:13. And Haggai said, "If [one who is] unclean [because] of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?" So the priests answered and said, "It shall be unclean."
2:14. Then Haggai answered and said, " 'So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,' says the LORD, 'and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

*MESSAGE:*

In our text today, two questions were asked and were meant to be answered by the Priests. The first was whether a garment used to bear Holy Meat would become clean. In other words, will the garment become clean by touching Holy Meat? The answer was no. The second question was whether something unclean (by touching a dead body) can make something else that is clean (holy) to become unclean. The answer was yes, meaning that the unclean thing will defile a clean thing, causing it to become unclean-like itself. Thus, the point being emphasized by the two questions was that it is easier to become unclean (defiled) than it is to be made clean (made Holy). There are great lessons for us to learn from this passage. As we interact with people and the environment, we need at all times to be careful lest we become defiled by the immoral people that we relate with in the course of our daily transactions. One of the things that easily causes defilement is evil association (1 Cor. 6: 14-18) and some often-overlooked sinful habits (Heb. 12: 1-3).

The world today is full of wicked and sinful people whose daily lives are corrupted by habitual, ungodly and criminal lifestyles. Most of these people are deeply religious and some of them even occupy high positions in the church. They also give to charity and humanitarian services, thinking that they can use good works to erase their sins or make themselves clean. This is not possible. The sure way to be cleansed from the guilt of sin is by honest confession and genuine repentance and cleansing by the blood of the lamb (Act 3: 19).

*PRAYER:*
Dear Lord, I rely on the blood of Christ for my cleansing. Help me daily to live by the power of Your Holy Spirit and to remain undefiled, *Amen.*
