*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* SATURDAY, 6TH SEPTEMBER, 2025 *THEME:* THERE'S A GLORIOUS FUTURE AHEAD *TEXT:* HAGGAI 2: 4-9 _*(NKJV)*_ 2:4. 'Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel,' says the LORD; 'and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,' says the LORD, 'and work; for I [am] with you,' says the LORD of hosts. 2:5. '[According to] the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!' 2:6. " For thus says the LORD of hosts: 'Once more (it [is] a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; 2:7. 'and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the LORD of hosts. 2:8. ' The silver [is] Mine, and the gold [is] Mine,' says the LORD of hosts. 2:9. 'The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,' says the LORD of hosts. 'And in this place I will give peace,' says the LORD of hosts." *MESSAGE:* In our meditation yesterday, the Israelites felt discouraged by the temple's current state compared to its former glory (v.3). They might have questioned the value of their efforts compared to the seemingly impossible task of rebuilding. Despite their concerns, in our text today, God offers reassurance. He encouraged them to "be strong" and reminded them of his covenant, emphasizing his presence and unwavering support throughout their journey (vv. 4-5). The passage doesn't ignore the difficulties but offers a powerful promise (v.6). The shaking wasn't meant to destroy, but to prepare them for something new. It can be interpreted as a symbol of change and transformation, reminding us that God can use even difficult times to pave the way for something better. Verse 7 speaks of a time when "the desire of all nations" will come and fill the temple with glory. This suggests a future gathering of people from all backgrounds, united in their reverence for God. It offers a glimpse of hope for a future filled with peace and understanding. The passage concludes with a beautiful promise: "The glory of this latter house will be greater than the glory of the former house" (v. 9). Haggai's message reminds us that even in the face of difficulties and negative circumstances, God promises hope and a greater future glory. Let us hold onto this hope, embrace change, and actively contribute to building a brighter future, trusting in God's presence and guidance every step of the way. *PRAYER:* Dear Lord, let Your glory fill my path and shine on my dark path, *Amen!* *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"You can rest in My love, for I have power to save you."_ *Zephaniah 3: 17* |
*THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL.* CHURCH OF NIGERIA _(ANGLICAN COMMUNION)_ *DATE:* FRIDAY, 5TH SEPTEMBER, 2025 *THEME:* THOUGH YOU MAY REMEMBER BUT DON'T DWELL ON YOUR PAST *TEXT:* HAGGAI 2: 1-3 _*(NKJV)*_ 2:1. In the seventh [month,] on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying: 2:2. "Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people, saying: 2:3. 'Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, [is this] not in your eyes as nothing? *MESSAGE:* In our passage, Haggai asked the people, "Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory?" (v.3). This comparison between the magnificent former temple and its current, less impressive state might have brought feelings of regret and discouragement. However, God does not dwell on the past but encourages his people to move beyond the past and focus on the blessings He promises in the present and future. It's okay to acknowledge and even learn from the past. However, dwelling on it can hinder our present and future growth. God's presence and blessings are available to us today, regardless of past experiences or circumstances. Focus on what you can control and how you can contribute to building something positive in the present. Don't wait for ideal circumstances to begin building anew. Start with small, intentional steps, trusting that God will bless and guide your efforts. Again, today's text reminds us that while the past plays a role in shaping who we are, it does not define our potential. By shifting our focus from the comparison of what is gone and what is now, to present action and trusting in God's presence, we can embrace the opportunities for growth and rebuild what is before us. *ACTION:* Put your past in the past and focus on your present while trusting God for the future. *QUOTE FOR THE DAY* God Says: _"I give life and breath to all things."_ *Acts 17: 24-25* |
THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 03, 2025 TOPIC: CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES READ: HAGGAI 1:7-11 (NKJV) 1:7. Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider your ways! 1:8. "Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified," says the LORD. 1:9. "[You] looked for much, but indeed [it came to] little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says the LORD of hosts. "Because of My house that [is in] ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. 1:10. "Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 1:11. "For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of [your] hands." THE MESSAGE: Have you ever been in a position where you kept making efforts and giving your best but did not see the results you desired? Today's passage from Haggai offers guidance when we find ourselves in such situations. The passage begins with God urging Israel to examine their actions and priorities. After they do this, God instructs them to "Go up into the mountains, bring down timber, and build my house" (verse . God recommended a shift from observation to action because reflection without action can lead to stagnation. The Israelites experienced a lack despite their efforts (verse 9) and God explained this as a consequence of their focus on personal gain while neglecting His house. This passage describes the drought and hardship the people experienced to be the result of their neglect (verses 10-11). When faced with challenges or a lack of fulfillment, take time to reflect on your actions and priorities. Ask yourself: Am I living by my values and commitments? Reflection should be followed by action. Identify the changes you need to make to align your life with God's will, and actively pursue them. If you're unsure where to start, seek guidance from trusted spiritual leaders, mentors, or faith communities. PRAYER: Dear Lord, please give me the grace to retrace my steps and re-align my priorities, Amen! |

THE DAILY FOUNTAIN DAILY DEVOTIONAL OF THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA (ANGLICAN COMMUNION) DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2025 TOPIC: OUTWARD BEAUTY WITHOUT INWARD SANCTITY READ: 2 SAMUEL 14:25-33 (NKJV) 14:25. Now in all Israel there was no one who was praised as much as Absalom for his good looks. From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him. 14:26. And when he cut the hair of his head -- at the end of every year he cut [it] because it was heavy on him -- when he cut it, he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels according to the king's standard. 14:27. To Absalom were born three sons, and one daughter whose name [was] Tamar. She was a woman of beautiful appearance. 14:28. And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, but did not see the king's face. 14:29. Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to send him to the king, but he would not come to him. And when he sent again the second time, he would not come. 14:30. So he said to his servants, "See, Joab's field is near mine, and he has barley there; go and set it on fire." And Absalom's servants set the field on fire. 14:31. Then Joab arose and came to Absalom's house, and said to him, "Why have your servants set my field on fire?" 14:32. And Absalom answered Joab, "Look, I sent to you, saying, 'Come here, so that I may send you to the king, to say, "Why have I come from Geshur? [It would be] better for me [to be] there still." ' Now therefore, let me see the king's face; but if there is iniquity in me, let him execute me." 14:33. So Joab went to the king and told him. And when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king. Then the king kissed Absalom. THE MESSAGE: Every endowment or perfect gift comes from the Father of lights. God is the Potter, we are the clay and being a God of varieties, He has designed us the way He wants us to be. Beautiful or not, handsome or not, we have nothing to boast of. We must glorify God with our bodies with inward purity. In Israel, Absalom was praised for his beauty. From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head, there was no blemish. His popularity came from his extraordinary handsomeness. However, Absalom lacked inward sanctity. The heart of a man is desperately wicked unless it is controlled by God. By Absalom's command, his servants set Joab's field on fire for not answering his calls. We must be slow to anger and pause before taking actions. Joab finally took him to see King David, and the king kissed him, yet, Absalom had evil in his heart for David. Things that defile a man come from the heart, regardless of outward beauty. Give God your heart and let His word dwell richly in you. Beauty without Christ will lead to pride; what we need is the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet Spirit (1Peter 3:4). PRAYER: Lord, help me to remember that beauty without You is vain, Amen! |
