Politics"Why APC Senators Found It Difficult To Impeach Saraki" – Lai Mohammed Reveals by engineerboat(op): 7:57am On Aug 14, 2018
HOW APC SENATORS FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO IMPEACH SARAKI – LAI MOHAMMED

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has revealed why it has been difficult for the All Progressives Congress, APC, to remove Dr. Bukola Saraki as Senate President.

Mohammed, speaking how the problems being witnessed in the ruling party started, said that Saraki forced himself into the office of the Senate President and made Ike Ekweremmadu, from the opposition, his deputy.

The Minister quoted Saraki as saying that ‘If you remove me, you are going to have PDP as Senate President’ adding that the Senate President had aligned and worked for the PDP all along.

Mohammed said this in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, where be reacted to the gale of defections in the APC.

He said that recent events in the party did not come to him as surprise, adding that they were expected.

He said, “The foundation for what you see today was laid the day the Senate President forced himself on the party as Senate President.

“That was the day the foundation for what you are witnessing today was laid because traditionally, it is the party’s prerogative who becomes the presiding officers in the two houses. Here, we were met with a fait accompli when Dr. Bukola Saraki, against the wishes of the party, did the unthinkable by aligning with the opposition and making them an offer they could not refuse.

“I can’t quite remember the number, but almost the entire 40 plus senators in PDP voted for him. So, he needed only a minority from the APC. We were all waiting for Mr. President to come and address us on this issue at the International Conference Centre, it was announced that he (Bukola) had emerged as the Senate President.

“From that day, we knew we had two problems: one, we had a Senate President who imposed himself on the party, and to make it worse, as an insurance, he arranged for an opposition person to be Deputy Senate President; that makes it impossible for us to remove him, hence his thinking, ‘If you remove me, you are going to have a PDP Senate President.’

“From that day, we had a problem. This is not a surprise at all. Of course, you could see the behaviour of the National Assembly since then. We have a National Assembly in which we had a clear majority in both houses, but which treated the executive with contempt and actually slowed down the work of government.

“In 2016, 2017 and 2018, our budgets were delayed. In 2016 and 2017, the earliest we got our budgets was June. Key appointments, nominations and confirmations for key organisations that could move the government forward like the CBN, like the NDIC, were delayed.
“Really, it couldn’t have been worse if the PDP had a majority in the National Assembly.”

PoliticsWe’re Not In Cahoots With Saraki, EFCC Replies Buhari’s Adviser by engineerboat(op): 7:35pm On Aug 12, 2018
The anti-graft agency, EFCC, has responded to an allegation by an aide to President Muhammadu Buhari that it and other security agencies may have worked for the benefit of the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Babafemi Ojodu, Mr Buhari’s adviser on political matters, reportedly made the allegation in an article.

The allegation that some security agencies were working with Mr Saraki became rife last week after the siege by the State Security Service (SSS) on the National Assembly.

While many Nigerians believed the siege was to forcibly remove Mr Saraki from office as senate president, others including presidency officials believe the SSS was playing a script by the senate president.

Mr Saraki has rejected the allegation and condemned the siege on the National Assembly. He also commended the sack of the then SSS Director-General, Lawal Daura.

The EFCC in a statement by its spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, on Sunday said it was not working with Mr Saraki.

Read the full EFCC statement below.

The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a widely syndicated article by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, special adviser to the President on Political Matters entitled, fifth Columnists in Our Recent History, wherein he portrayed the Commission as a conscript in the devious plots by Senator Bukola Saraki to undermine the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Ojudu, “From the shenanigans at the Benue House of Assembly, to the siege on National Assembly, the attack on judges home in the night, the so called barricade of the Senate President’s house, the laughable kidnap of Boy Dino and “his eleven hours on a tree’, the freezing of Benue and Akwa Ibom accounts all are scripted, produced and acted by Oloye Productions”.

The Commission takes exception at the attempt to impute false motive to its investigative activities. The recent placement of a ‘Post No Debit Order’ on some accounts in Benue and Akwa Ibom States were the culmination of many months of painstaking investigation activities. To reduce such activities to the level of a stunt in a real or imaginary script by any politician is outrageous.

It is important to state that the EFCC is NOT a party to the so called script by Saraki. Members of the public should disregard the innuendo in Ojudu’s article as it is unfounded.

Sarrki, madridguy, myd44, buhariguy, abeg help me answer this question,

And look at those who are paying pilgrimage to Ota, who are they? They are the thieves of yesterday, the thieves of today and those are to be thieves tomorrow.”

PoliticsThose Who Visit Obasanjo Are Thieves: Oshiomole by engineerboat(op): 10:07pm On Aug 09, 2018
Oshiomole in His word yesterday at Ikot Akwa_Ibom State state that those who pay pilgrimage to Ota Obasanjo Home are Thieves and rouges.

In His words "They are the thieves of yesterday, the thieves of today and those are to be thieves tomorrow.”

lthough he did not expressly mention the name ‘Olusegun Obasanjo’, Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday described the former President as “an old master thief’ who was grouping “old thieves” against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Oshiomhole said this in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, during APC’s welcome rally for Godswill Akpabio, who was defecting to the party from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In other examples pointing towards Obasanjo, Oshiomhole referenced the spending of $16billion on power without commensurate results, and the visits of politicians to Ota, Ogun State.

While addressing the Buhari Support Organisation (BSO) in May, Buhari, in a comment that appeared directed at Obasanjo, had said: “You know the rail was killed and one of the former Heads of State between that time was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars not Naira on power. Where is the power? Where is the power?”

Obasanjo responded by dismissing the allegation as “based out of ignorance”, challenging and encouraging “anybody to set up another enquiry if in doubt and unsatisfied with the EFCC report and that of the Hon. Aminu Tambuwal-led ad-hoc committee”.

He also asked Buhari to read, or ask his aides to, and then summarise to him, writing: “We recommend that the President and his co-travellers should read Chapters 41, 42, 43 and 47 of My Watch for Chief Obasanjo’s insights and perspectives on the power sector and indeed what transpired when the allegation of $16 billion on power projects was previously made. If he cannot read the three-volume book, he should detail his aides to do so and summarise the chapters in a language that he will easily understand."

On Wednesday, Oshiomhole reignited the $16bn power conversation, saying: There are two forces [against Buhari]… those who are saying it is their birthright that Nigeria should continue to share the resources of the people, and President Buhari said no, you have done it for too long. For 16 years you have been doing it, now enough is enough. And those of you have already done it, I am sending you to prison. Those are the people running to PDP.

“But have you seen a man who can run away from his shadow? I have been accused of talking too much, and I’m really going to talk today…

“It is only in Nigeria that old thieves will be regrouping; they are being organised by an old master thief who spent 16 billion… the more dollars he spent on light, the more darkness you suffered.

“Buhari asked: $16billion, where is the power? You say ‘Buhari, why are you asking? How dare you ask? If you ask, we will ask Nigerians to reject you.’ How can a man who has never won his [polling] booth in Ogun State suddenly become a…
And look at those who are paying pilgrimage to Ota, who are they? They are the thieves of yesterday, the thieves of today and those are to be thieves tomorrow.”
