Breaking News:

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Fayose slapped a Professor during a Reconciliation Meeting with ASUU EKSU Chapter...

The Executive Governor of Ekiti State , Dr. Ayodele Fayose today slapped Ekiti State University Professor, Prof. Aribisala from Faculty of Engineering....

Governor Fayose was said to have slapped the Professor as a result of rudeness, according to Dr. Babatope who was at the meeting said the Governor was annoyed that his Senior Colleague interrupted while he (Fayose)was talking.

The Professor who hailed from Ayedun Ekiti while addressing press said he was not sad, it's highly disheartening that Governor Fayose can act such manner in a very peaceful ongoing meeting of intellects

Professor Aribisala said he has not for once interrupted the Governor in any meeting despite attending so many meetings with him before now, he said he was just trying to call his attention to some errors in the mentioning of figures of amounts owned by the State Government..

He said Fayose threat to sack him didn't move him as his days are numbered in his office and the Election coming soon will determine the fate whether Fayose's dream will come to past or not..

He concluded that the disrespectful manners of Fayose is becoming unbearable to lecturers in Ekiti State University because the first time we had meeting with him he scooted on us and again he exchange physical combat with him..

The ASUU chairman who also spoke to the press men said the action of the Governor is barbaric and unfair, though Prof Aribisala was not supposed to have interrupted the Governor while talking but Governor Fayose shouldn't revert by laying slap on a professor who can even give birth to him (Fayose)

He said soon or later they'll deliberate on the issue in an inner meeting and take the necessary steps.. A slap on one is a slap to all he concluded..

PoliticsBuhari Warns ECOWAS Against Hasty Single Currency Implementation by engineerboat(op): 11:04am On Feb 22, 2018
Buhari warns ECOWAS against hasty single currency implementation

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned member countries of the Economic Community of West African States against hasty implementation of the single currency programme being planned for the sub-region by 2020.

He issued the warning on Tuesday during the fifth meeting of the Presidential Task Force on the ECOWAS Currency Programme in Accra, Ghana.

Buhari was represented by the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, according to a statement by the bank.

He noted that the Heads of Government had not properly articulated and analysed a comprehensive picture of the state of preparedness of individual countries for monetary integration by 2020.

The President warned that the non-preparedness of some member countries, the attempt to water down criteria and the continued disparities between macroeconomic conditions in ECOWAS countries were major challenges to the implementation of the monetary convergence programme.

He said while all these had continued to be major issues of concern, there was a need for members to evaluate the challenges in view of the current economic realities.

Buhari observed that ECOWAS Heads of Government had not been adequately briefed on the full implications of forcing through the integration by 2020, particularly as some countries were not individually ready domestically.

While pointing out that there were still outstanding issues in the road map to an integrated currency union, the President noted that the macroeconomic fundamentals of many countries in ECOWAS were diverse and uncertain.

He also noted that the inflation targeting regime recommended as a framework was not feasible as it was based on the adoption of a flexible exchange rate policy.

Buhari also noted that real convergence of macroeconomic variables were far from being achieved despite efforts made so far.

PoliticsPublish Recovered Properties, Owners Before Selling, Fayose Tells FG by engineerboat(op): 6:33am On Feb 22, 2018
Publish recovered properties, owners before selling, Fayose tells FG

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has asked the Federal Government to publish all the properties it reportedly recovered and their owners before selling them.

He also asked the government to publish the names of the buyers after selling the properties.

Saying that Nigerians should not be governed any longer with propaganda, the governor maintained, “Nigerians want to know how many properties were recovered and who bought the properties. Who authorised the sale? Nigerians want details, not propaganda, because most of these properties have been sold and resold.

“The Federal Government should create a website where all the properties recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and to whom they were sold will be listed so that by one click, Nigerians will have information.”

Fayose, according to a statement on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said it was difficult to trust the EFCC reports on recovered looted funds and properties.

“How can Nigerians continue to trust the position of the same EFCC that said in April 2016 that the allegation of corruption against the Code of Conduct Tribunal Chairman, Danladi Umar, was mere suspicion and would be difficult to prove in court, but now charged the same CCT chairman to court on the allegation it described as mere suspicion?

“On November 23, 2017, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, the chairman of the Senate committee investigating the botched reinstatement and promotion of the former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pensions, under the leadership of Ibrahim Maina told Nigerians on the floor of the Senate that almost all the exotic properties recovered from alleged looters of Pension Funds had already been re-looted by the officials of the EFCC.

“Last year November also, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), while testifying before the National Assembly alleged that one of the properties recovered from the alleged looters of Pension Funds was already sold to a Lagos lawyer.

“How are we now sure that the same people who re-looted the recovered pension loot have not also looted the recovered properties the President said would be sold?”

The governor urged the Federal Government to stop telling Nigerians stories without a background. The era of Baba has said is gone in Nigeria. The era of the President acting like the lord of the manor is gone, we are in a democracy.

“Many people were blackmailed and coerced to surrender their properties. A typical case is the one on Malabu Oil where people have been scandalised, harassed and their names destroyed via media trial and the Attorney General of the Federation now comes out to say that there is not enough evidence to try them. What will now happen to the lies told against those people?

“The Federal Government should therefore publish and state clearly what has happened in the EFCC between 2006 and now. Nigerians need to know the recovered properties sold by Ibrahim Magu’s predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde, and other previous EFCC chairmen. Those who bought them should be made public too.”

I canceled my birthday celebrations yesterday because Nigerians are suffering - Aisha Buhari.

Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, did not celebrate her 46th birthday yesterday as a show of feelings for Nigerians who are suffering and the underprivileged.
The Director of Information in the Office of the Wife of the President, Suleiman Haruna, disclosed this in a chat with our correspondent last night.

“She did not celebrate her birthday. She only marked it with the distribution of gifts to patients in some hospitals in Abuja. Even at her residence, there was no party or any celebration. Why should she celebrate when so many people are suffering? There are many internally displaced persons in various IDP camps,” he said.

Earlier in a statement yesterday, Haruna had quoted Mrs Buhari as calling on the privileged Nigerians “to do more in the lives of the less privileged with a view to increasing the feeling of humanity among citizens.”

He said Mrs Buhari made the call during the distribution of gift packs to patients at Asokoro, Garki, Wuse and Maitama District Hospitals in Abuja, in commemoration of her birthday.

Haruna said while Mrs Buhari, through a Senior Special Assistant to the President Dr Hajo Sani noted that imbibing the spirit of giving would spread love and amity in the polity.

PoliticsGive Me Shekau Dead Or Alive, Buratai Charges Troops by engineerboat(op): 9:48pm On Feb 19, 2018
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has again charged troops to capture Abubakar Shekau, the factional leader of the Boko Haram terrorists group, alive or dead.

Mr. Buratai, a lieutenant-general, gave the charge at Camp Zairo, the former Command and Control Centre of the terrorists group in the Sambisa forest during an operational visit to troops.

In 2017, the army chief gave troops a 40-day ultimatum to capture Shekau and the army recently offered a N3 million reward for information on him.

Troops finally destroyed the camp in January in an operation tagged “Deep Punch II’’ and are now dominating the general area of the forest.

The military sacked Shekau from the camp in December, 2016 but the terrorists later re-grouped to launch pockets of attacks.

Other locations visited by Buratai are Bita and Tukumbere, all settlements within the forest but almost deserted due to the insurgency.

“Let me say congratulations. But, we must move across to wherever this criminal – Shekau is and catch him red handed. I want you to get him.

“Mr President, Command-In-Chief of the Armed Forces says congratulations to all of you for recovering the Sambisa Forest.

“As far as we are concern, we have come to the end of this operation (clearing the forest of remnants of terrorists).

“What is remaining now is the Lake Chad waters only and we hope to do that (clear terrorists from it) also very soon.

“Meanwhile, you all know these criminals are still on the run; these guys are on the run, you must make sure that you get them wherever they are around this area.

“You must not allow them to escape. Every day, you must go on patrol, lay ambush for them and you go on raids.

“This is the time we have to consolidate and ensure that this place – Sambisa forest, is safe and never for these criminals to come back to it,’’ Mr. Buratai charged the troops.

The chief of army staff said he was in Sambisa and Camp Zairo to confirm the capture, destruction and domination by the gallant troops.

“I am glad that the troops have done the country proud and they have done Mr President proud by not only capturing the Camp Zairo within the forest but also consolidating on this success.

“It is a thing of pride and I want to say that we are proud of the Nigerian troops. We are proud of members of the armed forces, the Air Force, Navy, Police, DSS and indeed Civilian JTF, who have provided the needed service,’’ he said.

Mr. Buratai described the Sambisa forest as strategic and assured that the military would secure it against terrorists.

“We are going to transform this place, apart from making it a training area.

“We are going to have a modern defence establishment in terms of the provision of basic requirements for your comfort and indeed for your operations.

“We already making sure that the first set of facilities are brought here,’’ the army chief said.

To the troops, who captured the camp, Buratai promised them special package to boost their morale.

“We are going to have some special packages for all of you that penetrated this forest.

“We will make sure that your morale is high by making the necessary provision for you to be comfortable,’’ he added.

On rotation of troops, he said plans were on to rotate those who had stayed long in the theatre of operation.

“This is in our plan. I know that some of you were inducted here right from the depot but we are doing something for you to be properly deployed and properly accommodated as well.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that 3,000 troops would be inducted into the Operation Lafiya Dole this week, to replace those who had stayed long.

In an interview with newsmen after the visit, Rogers Nicholas, the Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, said with the capture of camp Zairo ”the soul and mind of Boko Haram have been broken in Sambisa forest”.

“They don’t have a place to hide. We are still going round to make sure that some of them that are hiding in holes, we intend to fish them out,’’ Mr. Nicholas, a major-general, said.

He said on assumption of duty in 2017, the chief of army staff tasked him to capture Camp Zairo and clear Boko Haram from the Sambisa forest.

“Troops have finally cleared the forest of remnants and we are presently occupying camp Zairo as well as all the little settlements and camps within the forest.’’

Dauda Mohammed, a staff sgt., and one of the troops, who participated in the operations that finally destroyed camp Zairo and cleared the forest of remnants of terrorists, attributed their success to the Almighty God.

“The success is from God. God almighty is the one that gave us the success which all of us are happy to be here. The Sambisa is cleared,’’ Mr. Mohammed said.

During the visit, the army chief directed principal officers, who accompanied him to visit other locations and frontline.

Accordingly, the Chief of Training and Operations, Maj.-Gen. David Ahmadu visited Bama, Borno South East to find out the needs of the troops and encourage them.

The Director, Military Intelligence, Maj.-Gen. Abubakar Tarfa, visited Dikwa, Borno North East while Maj.-Gen. A.T. Hamman, the Provost Marshal, visited Gubio, Borno North West.

Politics2019: And They Partied While Zamfara Was Burning by engineerboat(op): 7:46pm On Feb 19, 2018
And They Partied While Zamfara Was Burning.

Zamfara killings: Security agencies failed us, says Gov Yari

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has accused security agencies in the country of failing to prevent killings in his state despite alerting them about an impending attack 24 hours before the recent invasion of communities in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state, which resulted in the death of 39 persons.

Speaking on Friday evening when he led five northern governors on a sympathy visit to the palace of the Emir of Zurmi, Yari noted that security agencies in the area failed to tackle the problem of cross-border banditry and terrorism affecting communities in the area.

“Whatever was humanly possible that needed to be done, we as a government have done to mitigate this disaster. But it does appear that security agencies are failing in their responsibilities.

“I feel let down facing the people of this state whenever I remember the promise I made to them that if they elected President Muhammadu Buhari into power, these killings would end. But unfortunately, things are now getting worse.

“As such, I urge you security agencies to up the ante so as not to lose this war. If you let us put the matter in our hands, anarchy will reign, which is not what we hope for.

“On this particular incident, we had intelligence reports 24 hours before it happened that the bandits were grouping and ready to attack. I alerted the security agencies but unfortunately, they sent inadequate personnel to confront these people.”

But the Emir of Zurmi, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said if not for the bravery of vigilance groups who confronted the bandits, more people would have been killed.

Abubakar said 600 bandits had attempted to invade Zurmi before they were repelled by vigilantes.

He said, “They came on 200 motorcycles with three persons on each bike. Each of them was well-armed. We stationed 500 vigilante members who stood their ground and gallantly fought the bandits. Unfortunately, these same bandits turned their anger on travellers and other villagers on their way here; that was why we had 39 people killed.

“These terrorists are known to us. Their major hideout is in a village called Kagara, very close to Bafarawa in Sokoto State, and a few kilometers from Shinkafi in Zamfara State. But despite several appeals to security agencies to storm the area, our appeals have failed.

“I need to state here that majority of the weapons used by bad people in this country are brought in from this area. I had reason to personally inform Zamfara State’s Director of the Department of State Services sometime back of a large cache of weapons being brought into the country but no concrete action was taken until the containers were moved away.”

Meanwhile, prominent Nigerians and groups have berated the Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulazeez Yari, over his handling of the killings in the state.

Groups and individuals, including the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere; Senator Kabir Marafa (Zamfara Central) and the Centre for Anti -Corruption and Open Leadership, in separate interviews on Friday with Saturday PUNCH, said Yari was not compassionate.

Yari chaired a meeting of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum on Wednesday night. He attended the meeting of the National Economic Council on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He was one of the governors who visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday to condole with him over the death of two of his relatives.

The National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, accused the governor of laxity.

He said, “If you remember, it was the day after the burial of 73 people in Benue that the governor and his colleagues went to endorse Buhari for a second term. It may appear that the blood of Nigerians is the carpet for their coronation.

“The President did not deem it fit to go to Benue where 73 people were killed on New Year’s Day, instead he went to Nasarawa where cows were killed. So, you can put two and two together. The apple of the governor is not falling far from the tree,” Odumakin stated.

Also Marafa accused Yari of laxity in managing the security crisis in Zamfara State. He said Yari was paying more attention to the NGF as its chairman than Zamfara where he was elected to govern.

He further alleged that the Minister of Defence, Brig.-Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali (retd.), is from Zamfara but there was a “conspiracy of silence” on the attacks in the state.

Marafa said, “Why are people not talking? Why is the state House of Assembly not addressing this issue?

“Definitely, some people have to be brought to book. He was voted to be the governor, not the Chairman of the NGF.

“If he is not in charge, he should summon the courage to come out and say ‘this issue is beyond me, Mr. President I want your help.’”

Marafa stated that he would continue to raise the alarm on the security crisis in the state, alleging that the gunmen were known to officials of the state government.

He said, “I have been complaining but the state government always wants to sweep this thing under the carpet.

“I said (at the Senate) that there was a problem and I said Zamfara was under a siege and that the state government had banned all vigilante groups. People who are not security agents now walk about with arms.

“The governor keeps saying that he is spending money. Spending money on what, and why? What you see that just happened is not only in that community. Within the last three days, different communities were attacked in Zamfara. It is just that this one is bigger than others. There are killings and kidnappings going on in Zamfara on a daily basis and nothing is being done.

“Instead of him to sit down and face his problem, he is always in Abuja doing one thing or the other in the name of being the Chairman of the NGF.”

The Centre for Anti -Corruption and Open Leadership, equally came down hard on the Zamfara governor for not showing compassion to the victims.

It noted that Yari should have visited the families of the victims and condole with them instead of visiting Katsina on a purported condolence visit to the President.

CACOL Executive Director, Debo Adesina, said, “Yari did not show compassion to the victims and their families as expected of a leader.”

The Campaign for Democracy and the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights also knocked the governor for his seeming insensitivity to the plight of his people.

The CD President, Abdul Usman, said, “Such an action is wrong and the people must be wiser in the next elections in choosing leaders who have their best interest at heart.”

Also, the CDHR President, Malachy Ugwummadu, said, “We have seen presidents of countries, ministers and state actors cancelling state functions and even international engagements on account of a devastating situation back home.

“Now we talk about 41 persons who died in an avoidable disaster in one state. What is the state of the governor’s conscience and how does he react to the plight of his people?”

Also, a Northern elder statesman, Dr Junaid Mohammed, said these people’s death should be a source of worry to all Nigerians and the President himself.

He said, “The governor is the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum and I have warned him personally not to take other people’s responsibilities on his head, while his own responsibilities suffer.

“It is clear to me and to the vast majority of Nigerians by now that this is not a listening government. This is a government which came to mess itself and the country up. We now have a clear picture of what really bothers the Federal Government and the Presidency.

“It is unfortunate that this Federal Government started thinking about second term almost days after it was sworn into office in 2015.”

The President of the Middle Belt Youth Council, Emma Zopmal, described the killings in Zamfara State as unfortunate.

He stated, “Buhari’s government plays politics with killings in other states especially those that enacted anti-open grazing laws, accusing them of not accommodating strangers. Now, how can the Federal Government explain the killings in Zamfara State?

“This clearly shows how nepotistic, clueless and inefficient his government can be. This situation will get worse with another Buhari in power beyond May 2019. Nigerians should wake up and vote out Buhari or expect to be sleeping in the bush like the Fulani if they mistakenly vote him back.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the ACF, Alhaji Muhammadu Biu, called on security operatives to halt the series of attacks across the country.

He said, “The bloodletting in the states, in form of bandits attack and herders/farmers clashes, has assumed a dangerous dimension which must be tackled head-on by the security agencies.

“Federal Government’s decision to deploy troops in troubled states is, therefore, a welcome development.

“ACF extends its condolences and sympathy to the bereaved families and the government of Zamfara State over this ugly incident.”

The factional President of Ijaw Youth Council, Eric Omare, said the continued killings in different parts of the country, including Zamfara, indicated that the current administration of Buhari had failed.

Omare explained that the situation in the country, where the lives of Nigerians appear to be worthless, had degenerated under the watch of the current government.

He said, “Under the leadership of President Buhari, the lives of Nigerians no longer mean anything. Every day, what we read in the newspapers is death here and there. It is unfortunate. One of the primary responsibilities of government is to protect lives and property. This government in that respect has failed woefully.”

Killings signal insecurity –Reps

The House of Representatives has condemned the latest killings in Zamfara State, saying the attacks signalled the general insecurity in the country.

It also said that the killings had reaffirmed a recent resolution by the House demanding the removal of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris.

The Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Abdulrazak Namdas, who reacted on behalf of the House, noted that the killings called to question, the integrity of intelligence gathering in the country.

He said, “It is amazing how people are able to move about freely with arms, come into a place and shoot and kill without resistance.

“We condemn these mindless killings going on in almost every part of the country.”

Yari is a responsive and responsible leader-Spokesperson

The Media Adviser to the Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, has described his boss as a responsible and responsive leader.

Dosara, in a telephone interview with Saturday PUNCH, on Friday said contrary to claims by some of his principal’s detractors, the governor had visited the victims and was doing everything within his power to secure the lives and property of the people of the state.

He said, “People should stop playing politics with sad incidents like this. He has given instructions to the necessary agencies to investigate and he is doing everything to prevent a reccurrence.”

Prosecute Zamfara massacre suspects, Saraki charges security agencies

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, on Friday night condemned the latest killings in Zamfara State.

Saraki, in reaction to the attacks on his social media platforms, described it as senseless.

He said, “I join all Nigerians in condemning the killing of innocent and defenseless citizens in Birane Village, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“Such senseless acts have no place in our society. Our security agencies must do all that it takes to find and prosecute the perpetrators.”

PoliticsBuhari: A Failed President Desperate For Second Term by engineerboat(op): 7:05pm On Feb 19, 2018
What happened in Kano State during the Local Government Elections is an eye-opener to all Nigerians. Remember that Kano State is the epicentre of national rigging. During that ill-fated election, millions of children turned out to vote with their permanent voters cards supplied by INEC.
Many declared that the Kano LG election was a dress rehearsal for the planned rigging of the 2019 General Election. I agree with them. My main reason being that over three million of the registered voters in Kano are under-aged. Also in Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi States more than 50percent of the voters are under-aged. These under-aged voters are used for mass rigging by Northern elements in INEC.
This is the premise upon which Buhari plans to perpetuate himself in power, having failed woefully. Nigerians will recall that it was in this same Kano that the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC was murdered after controversies arose on the results posted.
In 2015, Buhari polled 15,424,921 votes while Former President Goodluck Jonathan, polled 12,853,162 votes. The Buhari winning votes were obviously manipulated votes from children in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Katsina States. Those 2, 571, 759 votes that propelled Buhari to a rigged victory is what they are plotting in tandem with INEC to re-introduce.
Forget the disclaimer issued by INEC. The voters registers and permanent voters cards used in the Kano LG elections came from INEC. INEC will take no actions between now and 2019 to clean up the voters registers, so the children will be used by Buhari.
This is the reason why El-Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of Kogi and other non-performing governors in the north are standing with Buhari. They are looking forward to the rigging largesse.

The recruitment of the Lion of Bourdillon further lays credence to the plot to manipulate the electoral process to the advantage of Buhari and his party. Bourdillon is a master in fraudulent electoral manipulation.
Little wonder, Buhari is doing nothing to develop the country. He has bought over the judiciary, media and civil society. Anyone who questions him is slammed with a suit. Ask Senator Dino Melaye .

The Federal Government under the control of President Muhammadu Buhari has deliberately allowed the nation’s security infrastructure to collapse.

The rampaging Fulani herdsmen will remain relevant till Buhari gets a second term. They have overrun the entire north central and Christian locations in North West. Your guess is as good as mine on why these murderers will continue to hold sway.

Nigerians must rise up to stop this desperate President and his cronies. Buhari only wants to be in Aso Rock like a traveller who loves a five star hotel. He is not there to work. He will not work. His wife has said so, Obasanjo his sponsor has said so, IBB his supporter has said so, the Catholic Bishops say so and all Nigerians have affirmed it. Buhari cannot work. He does not know what to do.
Buhari forget the idea of rigging, return to your grand children and allow Nigeria to make progress.

PoliticsUnder Buhari Blood Is Becoming Cheaper Than Petrol In Nigeria; Shehu Sani by engineerboat(op): 3:23pm On Feb 18, 2018
Shehu Sani, senator of representing Kaduna central, says blood is becoming cheaper than petrol in Nigeria.

Sani said Nigeria has now become a country of “mass murder, mass burial and continuous bereavement”.

The senator said when a country is no more shocked by tragedy, it has lost its humanity.

“In Nigeria today, blood is becoming cheaper than water and PMS. The most tragic of all tragedies is when tragedy become a routine in our daily lives,” he said in a statement.

“We are in an era where our political class are toasting champagne on the tiles of new sepulchre. The silence and cowardice of the northern political elites to the mass killings going on in the north is out of fear that they can be labelled or blackmailed as being anti-government.

“When a nation is no more shocked by tragedy, it has lost its humanity. When people are being killed every day, they are buried along with the integrity of their government and the honour of their leaders. When the right to life is not sacred, all other rights are incinerated.”

The senator said President Muhammadu Buhari must stop the “sycophantic” culture of governors leaving their duty posts to visit him.

“The new sycophantic political culture of governors leaving their duty post, in their respective states, almost on a daily basis to climb the Rock of Aso in order to pledge loyalty, leave their citizens in the hands of moribund and powerless deputy governors and at the mercy of well-armed killers,” he said.

“President Buhari must ban state Governors from the daily ritual of visiting the villa while their homes burns.”

He made mention that saints and Christians should be happy when they are sick because it should be a thing of joy when it is time to cross over to the other side of eternity I.e heaven. But today, Pastor kumuyi now pray against death of members of the church and even organizes monthly programs and crusades against every form of sickness and disorders. He equally encourages his pastors to have some time to rest to prevent deaths and illness from overstress.

3) WEARING OF SUITS: Although he was not against wearing of suit. But he said he preferred wearing his Shirt and trousers. That was majorly his mode of dressing until the early 2000' when Pastor kumuyi suddenly changed to suit and Tie which has hence became his permanent mode of dressing.

4) BUILDING OF SCHOOLS BY THE CHURCH: It was believed that the church never intended to build any university or schools in the past so that Members can spread and shine as salts in the world rather than been confined in a given location. But today the church now has many secondary schools (Deeper life high schools) and a university (anchor university)

5) USE OF HANDKERCHIEF IN HEALING: In the late 80's or early 90's handkerchief was said to have been used by the man of God during miracle services, but this was latter abolished.

PoliticsN145 Per Litre Fuel: Going, Going, Going… by engineerboat(op): 8:50am On Feb 18, 2018
In every country the trending price regime for petroleum products is often more significant than often realized.

This is so as in the contemporary world, petroleum and the complement of products derived from it remain the engine that drive life and living. This is also why the politics surrounding petroleum and its various products often features not only local imperatives but could involve global concerns that introduce twists and turns which lead power brokers to adopt measures that could lead to stupendous wealth or embarrassingly ignominious outcomes.

The moral here is that you do not mess around with petroleum market imperatives whether at the home front or on the global stage, for to do so is to execute the twist dance style on a slippery floor.
At the height of a vicious fuel crisis that has paralysed the country for over 13 weeks, Nigeria is hosting the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) between Monday to Friday, February 19th - 23rd 2018. This is inspired by the country’s dominant stature in the African oil and gas sector as a leader in both endowment of petroleum resources as well as in production of same.

From all indications the government seems to be more concerned with playing to the gallery through eye service to the world than solving the lingering fuel crisis. In order to deny the visiting foreign participants a true view of the messy state of affairs in the country’ petroleum sector, the government is adopting measures to clear fuel queues from the streets just for the event. Accordingly, the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, has directed the Group Managing Director (GMD)of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, DR Makanti Baru, to ensure that no fuel queue remains on Nigeria’s main streets throughout the duration of the fair. Speaking at a press conference preparatory to the oil and gas fair, Kachikwu stated that “I will hate for my colleagues to come and see the fuel queues so my directive to NNPC would be to get these queues out of Abuja”.

And as is predictable the only option open to the government to achieve this ‘feat’ is to flood the market even if temporarily with petroleum products by all means fair and foul as some may say.

What happens after the visitors and fair participants leave is a matter for another day. For as it is, the need to avoid any embarrassment to the government as it puts up a false image of its performance, seems more important than the agonies of Nigerians across the country, as they waste their days and nights locked in sprawling and stagnant fuel queues, in the cold and dusty harmattan season, with its attendant consequences.

But should the government need to bother itself by adopting such a lame measure which is not better than the oddity of an ostrich hiding its head in the sand when faced with a danger? What is it about Nigeria’s or any other country’s internal affairs especially government’s failures that is hidden from the outside world? Except of course there is something the government wants to hide from Nigerians.

For the past three months - that is just before the Yuletide season and up till this moment the country has been in the unrelenting grip of this debilitating crisis in the fuel price regime, which has been trailed by responses from sundry government officials; none of which has been able to abate the problem.

Questions from sundry stakeholders have also been raging over why the dispensation, just as varied answers have been proffered with each falling short of providing a way out. Yet in the face of the seeming intractability of the situation lies the issue of a questionable attitude of the government to the crisis. Many are wondering if the Buhari administration really wants to solve this problem in a sustainable manner beyond hoodwinking the public in order to serve some political interest.

While it may sound irreverent to see the government’s disposition to the fuel crisis as a progression in self-delusion, by insisting on retaining the current fuel price regime, especially the official price of N145 per litre for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS or petrol in common parlance) it has rather attained little else.

The truth of the matter is that the days of buying petrol at N145 per litre are gone and over. Beyond whatever logic that justifies government’s stance over the country’s petroleum industry, as long as only government can operate with ease it will remain doomed. While there may arise conjecture over why that is so, such cannot be so for the price regime as only a free market situation tames supply restrictions as is the case in the Nigerian market which Kachikwu intends to hide from the outside world.

Incidentally some pundits have raised the spectre of a rescue for the country coming from the forthcoming the 750,000 barrels a day capacity mega refinery being developed by Dangote Group in Lagos.

While such contemplations may assuage the credulous at heart they do not have any place in the cold logic of profit driven business terrain. Even if Dangote were to stretch his legendary altruism and philanthropy to superlative dimensions, he could not have invested a whopping $11 billion in a single refinery only to dispose it to charity. The world of business will expel him if he did that! Yes it will make the product available but will not make it cheaper.

Suggestions and recommendations in respect of a home grown solution to the country’s fuel debacle is contained in a report by a Committee set up by the President Muhammadu Buhari, which has since been submitted to him for subsequent action. Until he acts on it so long shall the country remain prostrate in the face of an avoidable fuel shortage. Even then the return to purchase of fuel nationwide at N145 per litre may remain a dream.

BREAKING: Air Peace Plane Escapes Accident As Cows Take Over Akure Airport Runway

Several air passengers escaped death in Akure, Ondo State today, as cows took over the runway of the Akure Airport and prevented an Air Peace plane from landing.

It took the combined efforts of the airport security men other aviation staff to clear the runway of the cows before the aircraft registration number 5NBQQ to land more than 20 minutes after.

The pilot, Captain Williams Inyang was said to have contemplated a return to Lagos when it was taking longer than necessary for the runway to be cleared by the airport security.

Palpable fear had enveloped the passengers, who initially thought the pilot deliberately aborted landing, while the pilot had to hover close to 20 minutes.

Today was not the first time a major airport runway was invaded by cows. The Port Harcourt International Airport runway was sometime ago invaded by cows and an approaching Air France plane collided with some of the cows. The expertise of the pilot saved what would have been a tragic incident as the plane was only slightly damaged with passengers suffering shock.

Also, on November 10, 2016, a fully-loaded plane of Air Peace had to abort landing at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, when the pilot discovered that the runway had been invaded by cows.

PoliticsRe: Why We Can’t Deliver On Our Promises – Osinbajo by engineerboat(op): 12:09am On Feb 17, 2018
And they want to take Nigeria to the next level
PoliticsWhy We Can’t Deliver On Our Promises – Osinbajo by engineerboat(op): 12:03am On Feb 17, 2018
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, blamed government’s inability to deliver on its promises on socio-political inequality, weak justice system, absence of rule of law and lack of state capacity to maintain law and order.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo He also expressed frustrations at the inability of anti-graft agencies to secure convictions for the many suspects brought before the courts for corruption due to the manipulative tendencies of the elite class.

Osinbajo spoke as Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Fr. Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, said the problems plaguing the nation’s democracy will not disappear with the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

The duo made their separate remarks at a public lecture organised by The Kukah Centre in Abuja yesterday, with the theme: “How to make Democracy Work for Africa.”

Osinbajo, who noted that people expected those charged with governance to deliver on their promises, including delivering social goods, ensuring that the growing youth population got jobs, ensuring the rule of law and security, lamented that despite several suspects charged with corruption by anti-graft agencies in the country, convictions are yet to be secured.

According to him, convictions have not been achieved due to the manipulation of suspects who are mainly elites. Osinbajo said people could be put on trial but the trials could go on forever because the system enables people to employ diverse legal tactics to delay conviction.

Accordingly, he said the elite preferred the status quo which set the lowest bar for political advancement, being “identity politics” of where one comes from or which religion one belongs. He said the elite follow the path of such division to analyse real development issues, thus diminishing the real issues concerning the people such as good governance, job creation, poverty alleviation, peace and security.

The African problem The Vice President said: “That is the Africa story; democracy, yes; election yes. These are issues that remain very prominent everywhere in Africa. “It is often threatened because we simply have not invested enough in the institutions that make this possible.

So, ensuring security, problems of weak policing are some of the issues that we experience. “The perception of people on the efficiency and fairness of the justice system is affected always by the slow pace of trials and manipulation of the system by those who can afford superior legal representation. “Many of the ethnic and other parochial tensions that tended to create insecurity and outright conflict, time and time again, are largely on account of failure to deliberately undertake nation-building efforts.

“But the question of the capacity of the state to deliver on its most important role of security, justice and rule of law is often threatened because we have not invested enough in institutions that make it possible,” Osinbajo said. Buhari’s exit not the solution — Kukah In his remarks, Bishop Mathew Kukah, said the problems plaguing the nation’s democracy will not disappear with the removal of President Muhammadu Buhari from office.

According to him, establishing a ‘Third Force’ coalition to merely produce a replacement for President Buhari in 2019 will not fix the inefficiencies of government unless the entire political class see power as a trust given to them by the people. Kukah said: “Since 1999, when we returned to democracy, we had prayerfully hoped that by now, we would have covered a lot of mileage but almost 20 years later, it seems to be quite a bit of tragedy.

“Building a nation is like staying in marriage or pursuing any vocation in life that requires lots and lots of patience and hard work. “On the issue of 2019 and the third force coalition, I reiterate that if every time you have problem in your marriage, you go ahead to marry a new wife, how many wives will you end up marrying?

“The solution to bad marriage is not a new marriage. I am talking as a Catholic priest. The problem with the APC is that it is a coalition and that is why it is falling apart. “The major limitation in Nigeria is that the people in power feel it is them against the rest of Nigerians.

Democracy has opened up a space, and as such, anybody who holds power holds that power in custody and in trust for the people. “People’s right across our country are frustrated with democracy; they are frustrated because it has not been able to offer them the hope they had dreamt about. But we still have to convince our people that it is still probable for democracy to work. “Nations of the world have tried theocracy, which is the government by Priests or Imams and have found those systems wanting

. They have tried tyranny, apartheid and so on. At the end, everybody has agreed that democracy is the best system that approximates the tool we require to manage diversity, especially for a country like Nigeria. “Democracy is not what politicians can offer to us, it is not what the President can give to us, and it is not what governors or senators can do on part time basis. Democracy is a process which each and every one of us imbibe, adopt certain ingredients that regulate our lives.”
