Deeper Life Seals Pact with Community for Socio-Economic Infrastructure Development

Deeper Christian Life Ministry has sealed a pact with communities in and around the Gbagada, Lagos headquarters of the church towards the social, economic and infrastructure development of the community.

Speaking at the event, General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, represented by Senior Pastor Phillip Oluwi, pledged the commitment of the Church to attract development and also boost socio-economic activities in the area. Christianity EtcAmbode Commissions Bridge, Car Park Built By Deeper Life Church by engineerboat(op): 2:22am On Feb 28, 2018
Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has lauded the General Superintendent and members of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry for its contributions towards community development and improvement of the quality of life of the people of the State.

Governor Ambode who spoke Tuesday at the commissioning of multiple projects executed by the Church in the Gbagada area of Lagos, commended Deeper Life for mobilizing millions of its members across the world towards making life more meaningful for members of the community that live around its headquarters in Lagos. Projects commissioned by the Governor included a link bridge on Oduwaiye Street, Gbagada, traffic lights on a number of streets and a 600 capacity multilevel car park, all built from the contributions of members of the church across the country. Governor Ambode, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Olawale Olowu said that Deeper Life has by those projects demonstrated its willingness, not only towards the spiritual uplift of its members but also on the quality of life of the people irrespective of religious inclinations.

He said the projects executed by the Church were in line with his government’s drive towards the rebuilding and renewal of Lagos City and called on other religious organizations and private sector institutions to emulate the gesture as a means of expediting the revamp of infrastructure in all parts of the state.

“What Deeper Life Church has done is epochal and keys into the overall drive of the State Government under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode towards the renewal of infrastructure projects all over Lagos in line with the mega city ambition of the State. It is my considered view that if all other religious groups and private sector organizations in the state, provide similar support to the Government, a lot will be achieved and in a very short time in improving the quality of infrastructure in our Lagos,” the Governor stated.

Earlier in his welcome speech, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William F. Kumuyi said the Church is deeply concerned about the comfort of the people of the communities where it is located, hence its decision to embark on the projects. Pastor Kumuyi acknowledged the giant strides the State Government under Governor Ambode has made in infrastructure development and urban renewal said the projects were envisioned to support the State government towards the development of the State.

“The Lagos State Government under Governor Ambode has been tirelessly working towards renewing the mega city of Lagos and I must say that this has immensely endeared him to the teeming population. What we have done is only a token of support in the drive to ensure there is a collective contribution towards the collective aspiration of the people of this great State for a city of comfort that we all will be proud of,” he stated, adding that the Church still has a number of other projects either under construction or at planning stages, all geared towards improving the quality of life of the people in support of the urban renewal programme of the State Government. He thanked the various ministries and departments in the state for their support and cooperation during the design and construction stages of the projects, admitting that little could have been achieved without the cooperation of these various agencies and departments.

Deeper Christian Life Ministry is a non-denominational Christian Ministry with its international headquarters, Deeper Life Bible Church Lagos in Lagos. Formally founded1982 following consistent ministry work that started in 1973, Deeper Life Bible Church grew from a small group of people to several thousand branches and millions of members in Nigeria, spreading eventually throughout sub-Saharan Africa and then to the United Kingdom, from where branches were developed in western Europe, Russia, India, and North America.

PoliticsDapchi Abduction: Stop Your Crocodile Tears, PDP Tells FG, APC by engineerboat(op): 4:32pm On Feb 26, 2018
THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday told the Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop shedding crocodile tears and provide answers to urgent questions surrounding the abduction of schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party insisted that the Buhari Presidency had a lot of questions to answer regarding the alleged compromising of security around the area as well as the misleading reports that frustrated immediate rescue of the abducted girls.

It said: “Nigerians have been in shock over revelations by the Yobe State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, that the abduction was preceded by withdrawal of troops around Dapchi, thereby rendering the area defenceless and paving the way for insurgents to attack and abduct our girls.

“We challenge the Presidency to come out clean on issues surrounding this abduction. Who authorized the said withdrawal of troops from the area and for what purpose? What were alternative security measures put in place to protect the people after the troops were withdrawn? Who controls security intelligence gathering and consequential protection action and what action was taken to guarantee adequate security in the area?

“Furthermore, we charge the Federal Government to open up on who scripted and released the false rescue report which frustrated prompt action that would have led to the recovery of our innocent girls? Why was that misleading report issued and whose interest did it serve?

“Indeed, from all indications, every right thinking Nigerian has deduced that there are more than meet the eyes in this ugly episode for which those in authority have a lot of questions to answer.

“We invite the world to note that after exposing the community to harm and frustrating prompt rescue, the incompetent APC-controlled Federal Government has not taken any concrete step to give the abductors the desired chase to recover our girls.

“Rather, they sent a delegation of persons with no knowledge of security to Dapchi on fact-finding missions.

“The PDP and indeed all well-meaning Nigerians are appalled by the crocodile tears being shed by the incompetent and deceptive APC-Federal Government instead of scaling up actions on the matter.

“It is on this note that we call on our security agencies to stand up to the challenge and do their professional best to ensure the safe return of our girls.”

The PDP joined in prayers with parents of our girls, the entire Dapchi community and “all victims of mindless atrocities against Nigerians under the incompetent and deceptive APC-led Federal Government even as we collectively seek a solution at this trying time.”

Dapchi Schoolgirls: Gaidam Blames Abduction On Withdrawal Of Military

The Governor of Yobe State, Ibrahim Gaidam has blamed the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls on the withdrawal of security personnel from communities in the state.

Addressing journalists on Saturday at the Yobe state Government House, he alleged that security check points were withdrawn from Dapchi and other communities, few days before the attack, a development which he believes gave room for the incident.

“There was not any justification whatsoever to withdraw the military from that place, knowing fully well that there is a girls’ school there with about 900 of them and it’s a local government headquarters.

“They withdrew the military personnel last week, which was not even known to us,” he said.

Read Also: Yobe Attack: Parents Form Association, Demand Recuse Of ‘105 Schoolgirls’

This comes days after the state government claimed that some of the girls had been found, only to counter the statement later, as none had actually been rescued.

The hopes of parents were dashed, even as they continue to demand the rescue of their children.

As part of their efforts to drive home their demand, the parents formed an association through which they were able to ascertain that 105 girls were actually still missing.

The students were said to have disappeared from their school, Government Girls Science and Technical College Dapchi, in Yobe state, after gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists invaded the school on Monday.

Governor Gaidam has, however, promised that the government will stop at nothing to ensure the girls are rescued.

He also noted that he had called the attention of the Theatre Commander who has promised to restore the presence of the military personnel to the state.

PoliticsFayose Reiterates Call For President Buhari’s Resignation, Says; “his Failure Ow by engineerboat(op): 5:08am On Feb 25, 2018
The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has reiterated his call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the present insecurity and economic problems in the country as evidence of the President’s cluelessness and inability to steer the ship of the country.

The governor said; “For a President that was elected because he promised to fight corruption and clear the Northeast of the Boko Haram insurgents within three months, the signs that he must take a bow and return home are clear even more than crystal.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said latest events in the country, especially the abduction of over 100 pupils of the Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State, and the Transparency International (TI) damning report revealing that the perception of corruption in Nigeria worsened between 2016 and 2017, further vindicated his position before the 2015 presidential election that President Muhammadu Buhari lacked the required capacity to govern a diverse and complex nation like Nigeria.

He said; “President Buhari promised Nigerians that he will bring back the missing Chibok Girls and defeat Boko Haram within three months.

After more than 32 months in office, Boko Haram is still killing Nigerians, with herdsmen also on a killing spree.

“Painfully, the same Boko Haram they claimed to have defeated suddenly became strong enough to kidnap over 100 students. Now, Nigeria is not only looking for the remaining Chibok Girls, another over 100 innocent students have joined, this is unacceptable!

“Funny enough, a few days ago, the President called on all Nigerians to be prepared to pay the ‘ultimate price’ for the progress and unity of the nation and I wish to ask him what other price does he wants Nigerians to pay.

“Already, Nigerians are sacrificing their lives by getting killed while seeking what to eat. Some have even committed suicide! Yet, the same President who is enjoying all the benefits of his office is calling on Nigerians to forgo personal pleasures and pay the ultimate price. ”

Governor Fayose, who described those urging President Buhari to seek reelection as selfish people who do not have the interests of Nigerians at heart, added that no right-thinking Nigerian would pray to have the fate of the country in the hands of a clueless individual like President Buhari for another four years.

When President Buhari mounts the campaign podium, what will he tell Nigerians? Will he tell Nigerians that corruption and insecurity has not worsened than it was in 2015? Will the President say that Nigerians deserve to be buying petrol that they were buying at N86 per litre in 2015 at N180 now?

“Is President Buhari going to justify that within 30 months, Nigeria’s debt that was N12.06 trillion in 2015 increased by over N10 trillion?

“Fact is that Nigeria is under a rudderless federal government. Everything is now upside down, with everywhere in the country becoming insecure. What Nigerians expect in a situation like this is a clean break from this calamitous government and new breath of life, not a continuation of a government lacking direction.”

PoliticsPolice Can’t Arrest Herdsmen For Grazing Cattle On Airport"- Police Commissioner by engineerboat(op): 6:14pm On Feb 24, 2018
The Nigeria Police Force has said it cannot arrest herdsmen who allow their cattle to stray onto and graze on airport runways in the country.
The Commissioner of Police , Airport Command, Mustapha Dandaura, stated this in an interview with our correspondent on Friday.

He said herdsmen could only be arrested in states where the anti – open grazing law was effective .

However , Dandaura said that all policemen and other security officials at the airports had been instructed to stay on high alert to prevent a situation whereby cows would take over airport runways .

He said , “It ’ s only in states where the anti – open grazing law is in place that herdsmen can be arrested for allowing their cattle to graze on airport runways . Apart from those states , we have not been told to start arresting herdsmen .

“ But we have already alerted our men at the airports to ensure such incident does not occur again. The state police commands have also been carried along and everyone is on the alert .

“ We can ’ t have a situation whereby cows would be straying onto and grazing on airport runways because it is embarrassing . Everyone is now on the alert and it ’ s going to be prevented. ”

Last Saturday , an Air Peace flight from Lagos had been prevented from landing at the Akure Airport , Ondo State as cows took over the runway.

It had taken the efforts of airport security and other aviation workers to clear the runway before the airplane landed .

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria had apologised to the airline affected and suspended the head of aviation security at the airport following the bizarre incident.

A similar incident had occurred in November 2016 when a fully – loaded plane belonging to Air Peace had to abort landing at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, Imo State when the pilot discovered that the runway had been invaded by cows .

Before the Owerri episode, an Air France plane was reported to have collided with cows at the runway of the Port Harcourt International Airport .

PoliticsPetrol Queues May Not Disappear Soon - Kachikwu by engineerboat(op):
The queues for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly known as petrol, in some parts of the country may not go away soon, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, said on Thursday.
He, however, stated that a lot of work was being done by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to address the situation, adding that PMS importation burden on the NNPC was so much.

The minister, who spoke during the conclusion of the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit in Abuja, also stated that the country needed $100bn worth of investments in order to revive its oil and gas industry.

Responding to a question on how he intends to ensure that the petrol queues, which are gradually disappearing in Abuja and neighbouring states, did not reappear after the close of the NIPS, Kachikwu stated that he doubted if the situation had gone finally.

He said, “Even though I did tell the NNPC to make sure that there was no queue during this period, it should have been looked at literarily. It was basically saying that it’s gone on for a long time and you need to find a solution. The GMD has been very busy on a day-to-day basis and we are trying to implement whatever policies are in place currently to ensure that the queues do not come back. So I am sure we are going to continue to embed that policy.

“Has it gone away finally and for good? I don’t think so. I don’t think so in the sense that there are still a few things and there are importations taking place, there are reserves that are being rebuilt and so a bit of challenge. But I know what they’ve done is being able to manage the logistics angle very well.”

He added, “You also know that as we begin to trend into the late March period, the market dynamics change, products become slightly cheaper because of the summer and winter issues. So, what you might then have is that some marketers, who are on the fringes and who have efficiency levels, might begin to bring in a few cargoes themselves and supplement.

“But I’m hoping that before then, some of the resolutions that we have come to, which his Excellency is considering, would have been approved and it will give the NNPC a lot more leeway in terms of being able to address this issue. So I’m hoping it’s (petrol queues) not going to come back.”

The minister insisted that other marketers had to come into the business of petrol importation, as the burden was too much on the NNPC.

Kachikwu said, “It is critical that we bring back market players in terms of importation. It is too much of a burden to have the NNPC as the last supplier of the product to the country. It is not just something that can be achieved. They have done quite a lot of work this week, courtesy of the ultimatum that I gave, as they have succeeded in taking it out of Abuja.

“Not taking it out and resurfacing tomorrow, that is the issue we need to go and address. The endemic business model. The business model is that the landing price is higher than the sale price, and second is that we do not want to increase price. So, in between those two, we need to find things that enable us provide incentives to the private sector to come back to business.

“And it should be a short-term thing. Hopefully, it should be something that will last over the next 18 months, while the refineries are being re-kitted. But after that, if we still do not address the market fundamentals of the business, it will be like what you are suffering in power, whereby you have trapped 2,000MW of power that cannot be delivered because we have refused to pay the right price for power.”

He, however, observed that, “For now the directives we are working on is that no price increase because people are already going through a lot of groaning and difficult time. Obviously, the President is very concerned about that.”

On investments in the oil sector and where the government targets to get investors, Kachikwu stated that about $40bn worth of investments were being expected in Nigeria in few years’ time, but noted that the oil and gas sector needed $100bn investments to be revived.

He said, “I did mention that about $40bn investments are coming from three very unique projects: Egina, $15bn; the Bonga, which we are heading for FID is about $10bn; the Zabazaba is also about $12bn. We have investments that are coming into the downstream, to the refineries, which are invariable $2.5bn to $3bn, and the AKK pipeline is about $3bn.”

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE RECONCILIATION MEETING BTW ASUU (EKSU Chapter), EKSU MANAGEMENT AND EKITI STATE GOVERNMENT

The Attention of The management of Ekiti State University has been drawn to a fictitious and wrong report of event happening during the meeting between His Excellency, Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose and Members of the Academic Staff union , ASUU of Ekiti State University , where some faceless and unknown elements are posting on the Facebook and social media platforms that Governor Fayose has slapped one Professor Aribisala of the faculty of science for rudely Interrupting him while the Governor was talking.

The post which has now gone viral was posted as at the time the meeting has not commenced., So where did the writer get his Information from?

The management cautioned Individuals and groups not to play politics with the issue of The State owned university as the recent post was a malicious attempt to smear and discredit the personality of the Governor.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, in an interview has said there is no Professor Aribisala in the Faculty Of Science of the university, So who was the ghost Professor that was slapped?

For the record Governor Ayodele Fayose has shown genuine intention to ensure the ASUU strike is over by listening to the complaints of Lecturers ranging from issues of Tax, Contributory Pension, prompt payment of monthly subvention, etc.

The Good news is that with the Effort of the Governor, state government, and Eksu Management and staff, the long awaited full accreditation of the Eksu College of Medicine has been granted the university by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

Ekiti State University Management however plead with the general public that the viral post is A lie, misrepresentation of events, dishonest, and an evil attempt to bring Ekiti State into disrepute.

The Vice Chancellor , Professor Bandele, also assured parents and guardians that the normal academic calendar will resume as soon as negotiations are concluded with the Unions.
