This is similar to Andela but better and shorter.
Hmmm. I like this. Done a preliminary read-through of the page at the link posted and I definitely think I'll give it a shot.

By the way, how did you come by this info? Mayhaps you're an employee/partner/entrepreneur of theirs? Just curious.

That depends on what you are personally looking for in terms of power.
Howdy bro. Mind if I co-ask?

Let's say I'm looking for 4-6gb RAM, 0.5-1 TB HDD, at least quad core and core i3, around 2gb vRAM/GPU, and a 1080p screen. Not HP- Acer or others will do.

What's the price of a machine like that?

No HNY wishes yet? Come on people! Geeks ain't cold!

So, happy new year to all current and prospective Andela fellows. Wish us all a fantastic 366-day period!

Telegram is cool. wonder why its not popular
WhatsApp was popularized and became a hit in Nigeria when Nokia introduced it as one of the factory-installed apps on some of its phones. So, maybe Telegram has to strike a deal like that too to get a boost in popularity in Naija.

Pls have you taken the Home Study Test?
If yes, how technical was it because all those
algorithms are scaring a newbie like me.

Pls we insights, I hv bn e-mailed a link to the
home study test already, but its seems scary.
No, I haven't taken the test. In fact, I'm not applying for this Class XIII set. I'll be applying early next year.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Andela: IT Training And Job by enigmatique(m): 10:25am On Dec 16, 2015
You've got no problem iphiy. As long as you can learn the what you're supposed to learn (which isn't draconian), you're good to go. Besides, every field needs programmers, so proceed and be the one for your field. In my own case, I'm a physicist.

@ checkmateman: I 'speak' Python already. Learned it from one crazy, brain-tasking and rewarding course on edX that was offered by MIT. (If you want to check out the course later, I can provide you with a link to it.) What's more, I now have a promise by jacob05 to help out where possible. I think you should latch on to that too. However, my major drawback is that I can't feasibly apply yet because I'm three months to the end of my service year in Akwa Ibom.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Andela: IT Training And Job by enigmatique(m):
I appeal to all those running to the WhatsApp group to apply the brakes a tiny bit. Who we really need to hear talk are current Andela fellows, and how many of them have indicated interest in joining the group?

Again, this NL thread can be easily found via Google and other search engines. Not so for the WhatsApp group. Lastly, any solutions proffered and issues discussed here can easily be seen by a new comer. S/he only has to go to the appropriate page. For the WhatsApp group however, all solutions proffered BEFORE you're added are lost to you, and the group members will have to keep saying the same thing time and time again. Who won't get tired of such monotony?

I wonder why wafijoe will do this to the group after the unsuccessful attempt of creating a topic about andela, you seek to destroy the values of this one.

For you all applying to andela Goodluck cos I'm out can't be jumping from one language to another, although I will learn python but as at now, I'm puttung my javascript into use
So the new home study test is truly in Python?

I will like to do that, but it feels like it takes away the use for Nairaland, what will happen to people who do not know there is a whatsapp group for Andela, what if the creator/admin decides to delete the group.....

Instead, I am trying to reach out to the recruitment team to take Nairaland more seriously, they should be here on a daily basis to answer questions prospective Fellows have.
Well... well... I guess I agree. Nairaland is a more accessible option to have a group.

Do maintain your persuasive efforts with the recruitment team. They should learn from the huge publicity that PushCV got from this platform.

Thanks for the mention. This is a nice write-up and I can partly find little Mindfulness inside of the story...
You're very welcome bro. I guess the lesson for all of us is to make our educational proficiency to be the foundation from which our children start their own studies.

I'll try and look out for that thread of yours, that I will. Especially pray it will hit FP.
FamilyRe: I Guess This Is One Of The Reasons My Wife Must Not Be A Stay At Home Mum by enigmatique(m): 10:21am On Nov 21, 2015
@Mindfulness

You see, I do agree greatly with Onegai's view, that I do. Parental nurture does go a long way in turning kids into egg heads like her- at least it did work for me too. In my case, I'm not sure my mum really sat us down to teach us stuff (I'm the last born so, if she did, this latecomer missed it cheesy cheesy). However, she was a teacher by profession (trained at a College of Education as an English teacher) and her knowledge of English rubbed off on all of us. We were just reading her books up and down- Shakespeare, Dele Fagunwa etc. In the case of my busy Dad, he was (and still is) an avid reader and bought a lot of book for us. That great knowledge of English and steady habit of reading made us ALL to venture into reading everything and anything we could lay our hands on.

The result? I became a doyen of English from an early age, so much so that the elders in my church call me "Professor" till today. I became very confident in myself and by Primary 4 had lost all fear of speaking publicly. Indeed, my English teacher back then too was dumbfounded at my skills. As early as JSS2, I was already reading my senior siblings' Chemistry and Physics books for fun. Unlike Onegai, I did have a highly successful Primary and Secondary edu. But like her, the only snag was in the university, where I decided to focus on understanding the courses taught (instead of cramming and passing) and got a 2.2 for my choice. cheesy

Great schools too do have their place. I had great teachers in the Federal Government College I attended. But the foundation my parents consciously and unconsciously laid for me was priceless, and I'm forever grateful to them for it.

P.S: Sorry for the epistle cheesy
P.P.S: I am a science student ooo! cheesy

Good! So take up the gauntlet na. Create a group and add those guys that have already dropped their nums. Similarly, tell us how we can privately get our nums to you so as to be added too.

WafiJoe:
Let's create a whatsapp group for andela. drop your number here, and I will add you to the group.
That's a good idea, coz a community is better than a person all by him/herself. But then, I'd prefer that:
-the group be created and administrated by a current Andela fellow e.g Ramos16, sname00 or Google63.
-we send our nums to the admin as a PM. Nairaland is a very big place and u don't want all the exposure that a public display of ur num can bring.
CultureRe: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by enigmatique(m): 2:51am On Nov 09, 2015
fratermathy:
Urhobos don't use "Nko". That's a Yoruba word that has been engraved into Pidgin. The Op codemixed Urhobo and Pidgin in that utterance, ergo, it appears to you as Yorubaic. Native and deep Urhobo speakers do not have Nko in their vocabulary.
I see your point.
CultureRe: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by enigmatique(m): 2:49am On Nov 09, 2015
Abagworo:
Igbos equally use nko. People should stop thinking in one direction. An Igboman will ask Ogor gi kwanu? or Ogor e nkor? depending on the dialect of Igbo which is in hundreds. Let us just know that Igbo-Edo-Yoruba spoke one language in distant past and have experienced inter migrations even in more recent times.
Nice one nwa nem. smiley cheesy
CultureRe: Some Igbo/yoruba Word Used In Urhobo/Isoko Language by enigmatique(m):
Goodboiy:
3. Orgor' : Orgor' is an Igbo word for 'Inlaw'. It means the same thing in Urhobo.. for example I might say "Oniovo Orgor we' nkor " meaning 'brother how is Your Inlaw ".
In fact, the latter part of that Urhobo sentence sounds a lot like Yoruba. That is, if orgor = in-law = ana (in Yoruba), then check this out:
ana re nko? smiley smiley

My Tecno L3 also had the Fb app as a system app when I bought it in 2013. It continually drained both my ba3 and data balance. But then I eventually rooted my phone and got rid of it! If you're facing the same problem and are using an Android phone, consider doing the same.

in fact we eat it much more than you guys do. We call it "eni zowa"..meaning soup made from beans. It goes well with tuwon shinkafa(tuwo rice).. ..although I have tasted it and it tastes really great, we don't mix it with ewedu...that's like "soup riot" to "some" of us cheesy cheesy
Soup riot?!! ::DDcheesy For where? Ask anyone from Oyo Alaafin, Ogbomoso, Ibadan, Oke Ogun and so on and they will lick their lips before replying. But do you people eat ewedu at all? If so, our two tribes must be more closely related than I could ever have previously imagined(except that Sango's mother is said 2 have been a Nupe dame).

Gbegiri? Nupe? I didn't know the Nupe also eat gbegiri. I thought it was just we Yorubas that do, especially the Oyo axis. We even combine it with ewedu to get sweet abula! But gbegiri? Nupe? Enlighten me abeg.
