Read the Bible Cover to Cover... Meh

I just finished reading the Bible cover to cover,
and aside from being terribly underwhelmed, I am
at a loss to understand how anyone could regard
this book as anything but a repository of silly
myths, barbarous laws, and poorly written
missives, much of it presented without any of
the context that might make sense of it.

Take the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,
Numbers, and Deuteronomy). The Genesis stories
are mildly entertaining, but it's hard to discern
any redeeming moral message, except that you
had better believe in God and do what He says,
or else. After the myths comes a legal code
disturbingly obsessed with dietary and sexual
restrictions.

Then come the historical books. Here's the
takeaway. When the Hebrews adhered to the
terms of their covenant with Yahweh, they are
allowed to slaughter and enslave the inhabitants
of the Promised Land. When they break the
terms of the covenant, they are slaughtered and
enslaved in turn. Obey God, or else!

Then there's the wisdom books. What a
misnomer! The Book of Proverbs should be
called the Book of Platitudes. Again, absolute
faith is the highest virtue. Why? Why are you
asking, you infidel?!

Then the prophecy books. A bunch of cranks
yelling at the kids to get off their lawns. And all
the references to false prophets makes me
wonder what other books were out there at the
time, and what they had to say about the
"prophets" featured in the Bible.
So much for the Old Testament. Moving on to
the New.

The Gospels: Let's just say, if you've gotten to
know Jesus through Hollywood treatments,
you're going to be disappointed. At least
Hollywood writers know story structure.
Then comes Acts. Yawn.

Let's move on.
The letters of Paul: Here is the real meat and
potatoes of Christianity, and there's not much to
recommend it. Wives be subordinate to your
husbands. Women don't speak in public. Slaves
obey your masters. The friend of the world is the
enemy of God. Ugh! The only way these books
make any sense is if you are expecting the world
to end any minute - which the first generation
Christians were - and so you don't see any point
in improving the conditions of this world. Fast
forwarding to today, in a world beset by
terrorism, climate change, and mass poverty and
hunger, the message of the New Testament is
not only irrelevant, it's dangerous.

And then there's Revelation. Apparently magic
mushrooms grow on Patmos. Who knew?
Why oh why does anyone think this is such a
good book? Have they even read it? If they have,
have they read anything else? Maybe more
people should read the Bible. It seems to me it
would be the best defense against becoming a
Christian.

It is not a surprise to hear people say they have read the handouts ,notes and other textbooks on a particular course or subject ,but when the examination comes ,they still fail.

The fact that you have read the Bible and couldn't see any sense in what you have read is an indication that you are a dullard , physically and spiritually .

To start with the bolded , are you saying the name of Muhammed was "he "?

Your problem is that you do not have spiritual understanding because you are a complete carnal man.
You are a spirit with a soul living in a physical body.
The angels ,the demons ,the devil etc are spirits with souls living in a spiritual bodies.

The fact that you cannot see spirits does not mean that they are not personalities like us. So they can be addressed as a " he ".

Let us take some Biblical examples where "he" was used for spirits.

You feel or assumed the "helper "Jesus meant was Muhammed ?

This world was corrupted by the very first sin of Adam and a new one shall be brought down to be inherited by children of God who believe in Jesus ,the new Adam ,and HOLY BY KEEPING HIS COMMANDMENTS .

THESE SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD:

There is an easy way for you to know which way to go.
That is to pray and ask God, your Creator , to show you His chosen way of salvation to you.

How can a prophet not know who a prophet is .
To prove my point ,I would like to point to a BIG ERROR in the Quran by calling Adam a Prophet .Was Adam a prophet?

WHO IS A PROPHET ?

A prophet a messenger or spokesperson for God who admonishes ,warns ,directs ,encourages , intercedes ,teaches ,counsels and bring the word of God to the erring people to call them to order .

From the above definition , if a prophet is someone sent by God to call people back to obedience to God's laws and to warn them of the Divine judgment upon SIN AND DISOBEDIENCE , who then was Adam sent to warn ,intercede ,admonish ,direct , give the word of God to ?
Were there sinners be4 Adam? Was there sin b4 Adam was created ? Was Adam not the first sinner ? Who was he send to preach to ? Was not Adam the first person to rebel against God ,which is a sin of witchcraft ? When was Adam called to be a prophet ,was it be4 he was created ,immediately he was created or after he sinned against God and inherited curses for mankind ? It was through Adam that sin and curses entered into man and the earth as written in :

Death ,sickness ,stealing ,killings ,fighting ,envying ,lies , fornication,adultery ,witchcraft etc came into the world as a result of the sin of one man ,Adam.
This is evident in the account of his children. The 1st son of Adam ,Cain ,killed his brother because of envying and lied to God that he. knew not where his brother was when God asked him for the whereabout of his brother .Where did he inherit the spirit of killing and lies ? From Adam . Why did Adam not preach to his 1st son ? At least that was the first man or person he knew .
The first person to preach and warn people of the consequences of their sins was Enoch ,He was the First prophet of God and after him was Abraham .

Those two lived exemplary lives . Enoch did not die ,God took him and God Himself called Abraham His prophet .

The Bible never called Adam a prophet because he was not a prophet. God had no plan to send prophet to the world if not for the sin Adam himself committed.

Muhammed could not identify who a prophet was he also called Ishmael a prophet . Prophet to who ? What were his messages to the Arabians . If God had called Ishmael to be a prophet , God would have given him messages to his descendants and would have told him to keep records of his messages till the coming of Muhammed just as God told the Israelite to keep records of their people till the coming of Christ.

The message that God gave Abraham that would make the world to know that their is true God in Israel was the parting of the RED SEA . Genesis 15: 13 _ 14.

Jesus said salvation is of the Jews not of Arabs ,Nigerians Egyptians etc . It is only through the coming of the Messiah that the world is saved . Jesus is the Messiah who came and shed his blood to cancel the curse Adam brought into the world through disobedience .

The curse could not be taking away except by the shedding of blood of someone who never inherited the curse . That was why the pregnancy of Jesus was not by any man because that man would have inherited the curse himself and Jesus would have inherited it as well .

Jesus is the Son of God and as the Son of God he is God and he has a Father who is Greater than him and who is also GOD TO JESUS . Jesus took part in our creation.
That is why he could give sight to the blind,raised the dead,walk on the sea ,command the sea to be calm, forgive sinners ,curse a tree to wither ,heal the sick ,grant salvation to the thief at his right hand on the cross etc.

Do not compare the creature with the creator.Do not compare Jesus with any prophet in the Bible talk less of muhammed ,the anointed of the devil ,who is taking half of the world's population to hell.

It is also a sin not to know that Jesus and his Father ,Jehovah , are different personalities but one in purpose .
Jesus said he is the son of God . We should also know that God is a title. God Himself said " thou shall not bow down to any other gods " So god is a title and children of God are gods too because we have the attributes of God in us ,which is ability to create things like cars aircraft , machines etc.

Do not confuse the Muslims further by making them to think we are serving the same God .Their god is in the Kaaba and they must face him when praying because allah is not omnipresent . Just like idol worshippers must face their idols when calling on their idols or gods ,Muslims are ignorantly facing the idol in the Kaaba when praying. Can God Almighty live in the Kaaba ( the place where diff idols were ) a black clothed house ,a shrine . Pilgrims to mecca do circumvent it 7 times to show their respect and belief in the house and the idol inside it.

These people need serious prayers for their eyes to be opened. But they would rather argue instead of thinking about what they read and pray for God's direction.
Ignorance is not an excuse to God. That is why God gave us brain to think and mouth to ask in prayer thing not clear to us.

Why did God not command Jesus with his apostles to form an army and take hold of Israel by force and spread Christianity by attacking nations and putting Pastors in that community as their heads ? If they had done this , Saudi Arabia and other Islamic nations would have been captured and be Christian nations by force .But that would have been an act of wickedness .

I am not a Jehovah witness but what you said is very WRONG AND MISLEADING.
Jesus said he has a Father in heaven in plain terms .
Many Muslims would have been converted to God but for this SATANIC MESSAGE , they question our faith and doubt the gospel .

A messenger is someone who delivers messages.

The same goes with a son. A father can send his son to deliver a message to someone. That qualifies him to be called a messenger and does not disqualify him from being called a son. God is great and loving ,He has provided ways to destroy the works of darkness in our lives. So shall it be for your friend in Jesus name. The Lord shall contend with any power contending with him and give him children and save his children, in Jesus name.

All he needs to do is to fast and pray.

May he have testimonies that will show that God is still on the throne ,in Jesus name.

but we search for the Truth.

I pray that you do not miss the right way .If what you do or think is that people can search for bible version that agrees with them , then you are not yet a Christian . The bible does not contradicts itself .

People can make mistake but not God . There are things you read that can have multiple meanings ,which can only be explained by the Holy Spirit . But some are direct and with no ambiguities for you to know . Such as :

The verse 5 above should make you to understand that Jesus is not an angel .

The verse 10 above tells us that angels are not to be worshipped. The verse below shows that Jesus is worshipped in heaven even by the 24 Elders in heaven.
If Paul was cautioned by the angel from worshipping the angels ,why would the 24 elders disobey the rule and worship Jesus ,if he were an angel ,as shown below:

These verses above indicate that Abraham spoke physically with the Lord . But can any man see the Father and be alive? Definitely not . The "Lord" that Abraham spoke with was Jesus .
It also supports the fact that it is Jesus that will come and give judgements in the last day . He said "the cry which come unto me ". The angels report to Jesus .

You are right to an extent in the sense that you quoted the right verses and gave their meanings, which I can say would fetch you like 40% . Unfortunately 40% is failure.
In the Bible we have about 100 other verses that point to show who Jesus is .These must be combined and with the assistance of the Holy Spirit you will understand who Jesus is and true position.

WHAT DID THE BIBLE SAY HOHAMMED will accomplish on earth? Pls Mr OP I need answers. And from the original Bible pls.

The. verse quoted by the OP was not referring to Muhammed in any way. There are many verses in the bible where the word "brethren" is. mentioned and never. made as a reference to Muhammed or his ancestors.

Let us look at these facts below:

Genesis 42:13 KJV
And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold,......

Exodus 4:18 KJV
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go .....

Leviticus 25:46 KJV
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.

These verses above show clearly that the children of Israel address themselves as "brethren" to differentiate them from outsiders.
Why then did the op assumed that it was muhammed that Moses was referring to in the below verses?
Let us read.

Deuteronomy 18:15, 17-22 KJV
The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; [17] And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. [18] I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. [19] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. [20] But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. [21] And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? [22] When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord , if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

There so many verses in the bible where Jesus said things and it came to pass:

And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet . [14] And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. [20] And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. [21] And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. [22] And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

John 11:42-44 KJV
And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it , that they may believe that thou hast sent me. [43] And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. [44] And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

The above was part of d condition to know the prophet.
B4 Islam came d disciplines of Jesus reminded the Israelites about this words of Moses:

It is confusion and fraud to make reference to the bible ,which you claim is corrupt , as your evidence that muhammed is genuine .Why not show from the Quran where allah said it was muhammed that the prophecy was meant for ?

B4 we started to have fake ( chinco ) phones in Nigeria the original phones like Nokia ,Ericsson ,Sagem etc had been existing. The same goes with Islam. muhammed copied historical facts in the Bible and put it in the Quran.

If God had plans with Ishmael ,God would have told his descendants and they would have kept records of the descendants of Muhammed right from the time of Ishmael down to muha, like the Jews did. There is a record of the generation of the children of Israel from Isaac to Jesus.

God is not a God of confusion. He cannot do things that will be destroying His children. Islam came after Christianity and started spreading by killing and forcing people to accept it ,even till date they are still killing to spread Islam eg Book Haram.

Christians would have done the same, if the 2 religions are serving the same God.

But muhammed came with Islam to destroy men's lives.

You said something like "using this to beg allah to curse someone till eternity". Let me tell you something the bible says:
Psalm 109:17-18 KJV
As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. [18] As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

That above is a fact .People can curse others and go free but if you curse a child of God ,the curse will not proper and will go back to who ever issued the curse.
God told Abraham : Genesis 12:3 KJV
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Most people see this religion section as an avenue to argue but the wise see it as an avenue to learn and know the truth.

God used signs,wonders miracles to show people that He is God. Moses was called and they believed him because of the signs and wonders God did through him. Likewise other prophets in the Bible ,who were all Israelites, but muhammed could not show any sign and miracle that would make people believe him,he rather chose violence and oppression. But still a soul that is destined for destruction would say Muhammed never fought wars but only that of mecca & medina even though the account of his warfare are written in the hadith .It was during such wars that he was poisoned.

There are so many things that are wrong with Islam but the fact is that a thief can never see anything wrong in stealing.
If you are a child of the devil you will love all these evil the Book haram are committing against innocent children and adult. That was what Utman Dan Fodio did to conguer the hausas in the northern Nigeria. People are now civilised and that is why they can see it as evil but the Muslims in those days called it Jihad. It was evil.

I was also a Muslim , I give God all the glory and adoration for saving me. I know that there is a GREAT DIFF BTW CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM. ISLAM IS EVIL FROM BIGINNING TO THE END .
