The skillful ones like Torres, Vidic faced them when they're both on the pitch. The ones that are strong like Drogba, Vidic faced them too. Ferdinard was very good, paired excellently with Vidic. Just as you bring up Torres, don't forget to mention Ayegbeni. That Vidic was always ready to put himself on the line is enough reason to rate him slightly better. Same reason I'll prefer Carvalho to Terry in Chelsea. Let the organizer be organizing, we know those who are jumping in front of bullets

Rio played RCB mainly and Vidic played LCB mainly.

That was the major factor in terms of their division of labour.

In terms of defending Rio was more comfortable against skillful and pacy players while Vidic was more comfortable against tall and powerful players.

The major decider though was usually Rio covers right, Vida covers left.

So its either those guys naturally played on the Vidic side or he was targeted?

Rio was Fast,agile....so he had no problems with such players....
