Enahi: This the reason why Amechi and Tinubu have been plotting to remove Saraki by all means.
I wont be surprised to find out Saraki has reached an agreement with Tinubu and Amechi the looter. I don't think Saraki will do a good screening, he will be weak at it because He is also corrupt. Forget the initial gra gra: Saraki has nothing to do with Amaechi and other ministerial nominees unless he wants all the pending cases against him being resurrected. If he does, he will paid for it: mark my words. |

alcmene: A strong protest from members of the All Progressive Congress in the Senate on Wednesday did not stop their colleague from Rivers State from submitting a petition against the nomination of Mr. Rotimi Amaechi as minister.
No sooner than the senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, George Sekibo, raised a point of order to submit the petition that the APC senators kicked by shouting, “no, no, noooooo.”
Despite the APC protest, Senate President Bukola Saraki asked protesting senators to keep quite and then asked Sekibo to submit the petition which he said was from one of his constituents.

Kennydoc: Guy what's your own? The constitution stipulates that to contest a position in the National Assembly, one must have attained minimum age of 30 years among other things. To alter it would require constitutional amendment which can only be made by the National Assembly and the 36 States Assemblies. As long as the constitution has spelt out the age requirement, it has to be changed in the constitution before anybody younger than 30 can contest` and not be removed through the courts. I still maintain that there is no need for amending that age requirement. Whoever is less than 30 and is so interested in governance should go and contest for councillor in his local constituency or contest in his state assembly. You are just reiterating needless point. Who is saying the constitution does not need to be changed before anybody younger than 30 could contest? The point is that this provision is archaic and needs to be amended. This was how it has been even in the constitution that preceded 1999 constitution and PDP failed to ameliorate this. In this millennium, younger men and women are becoming professor even at lesser age as compared to 30 you are reiterating here: why are you so naïve in your approach on this issue? You need change, honestly. |

Politics › Re: Tribunal Nullifies Murtala Badaru's Election For Not Attaining 30yrs by Ephemmm: 12:28pm On Oct 07, 2015 |
Kennydoc: The issue you're raising bothers on constitutional amendment, and constitutional amendments are carried out by the NA and the 36 States Assemblies. It's not as simple as you make it. Also, lawmakers don't just pick a little aspect of the constitution and talk about amendment. They look at a bigger picture because of the stress and difficulty of the amendment. I repeat, there is no need reducing age at election of federal lawmakers. 30 is very appropriate, and even as a young guy, I won't advocate for that. So, which party dominates the states Assemblies throughout the period under review? However, States Assemblies have nothing to do with this issue if it was enacted. Get your fact right. |
Politics › Re: Tribunal Nullifies Murtala Badaru's Election For Not Attaining 30yrs by Ephemmm: 12:03pm On Oct 07, 2015 |
Kennydoc: Constitutional amendments have been carried out by successive dispensations of the National Assembly, and a few critical issues have been addressed over the years. A complete overhaul of the constitution is very difficult to achieve. That was part of what the last confab hoped to achieve but APC turned it down for political reasons, and Buhari has already discarded their report. To me, there is nothing wrong with 30 years age limit to contest a seat in the NA. The rep in question can come back in 2019. I'm sure he will be up to 30 by then. Reduction of constitutional age has nothing to do with Confab's recommendation, only simple majority is needed which could have been easily done if PDP wishes to. |

All the Presidents throughout this tenour were from PDP, backed up with majority in both the upper and lower chambers: tell me what stops PDP from ameliorating this archaic law which requires simple majority. |

jlinkd78: With this developmnt I now believe d Sarakigate crisis will die down faster. This now means d SW caucus cum Tinubu camp has now recognised Saraki as d senate president. This same man has been d preferrd candidate of d SW caucus/ Tinubu from on set but in a bid not to be accepting Saraki headship the SW didnt forward his name. Now Saraki can sleep with two eyes closed and all litigation concerning forged senate rules will soon be dropped. Honestly this Saraki is becoming more articulate and powerful than d APC had imagined and I can see Mark/Ekweremmadu hand of fellowship in terms of charismatic advice in all this. I pity d CCT Chairman in any case Saraki survives cos with 83+ senators passing a vote of confidence on Saraki can only mean in Obj's voice 'no shaking' or better put 'I dey kampe'. Continue deceiving yourself. The question is - why did Saraki make U-turn? For your information, this is a game. If you doubt it, let him refuse to ratify the list as submitted by PMB, it is then you will see that the cases of forgery of standing rule and declaration of assets will be used to remove him through the court of law. He has no choice than to be a dummy Senate President, who is always ready to do the will of PMB. |

Prince Brigadier Oyinlola should be tired of eating money. He has had his fair share as a Military Governor and a civilian governor of Osun state. But i guess he would be given based on obasanjo boy.
Rotimi Amechi based on allegations of HEAVY WEIGHT CORRUPTION hanging on him should not be on this list at least for now.......
I Think its a fair list !! Not a Bad one... Seeing some names of Renowned Technocrats like Tam David west, Pat utomi, Charles soludo, Festus odimegwu,Fashola , Falana , kalu agabi etc raises some hope As you have said, it is an allegation and the accused remained innocent until the allegation is proved beyond reasonable doubt. So, if PMB wishes, Amaechi can be included: the only clause which may be included in his contract of service is that he must be ready to defend himself whenever the need arises. Chikena! |
