tpia@:Lol, you wan turn Daddy GO to banker now? Lol. Or you wan open another controversial topic again . . . about church turning to a bank? ![]() |
Interesting news |
You could try MTN Foundation, GE Healthcare, or some of the oil and gas companies that have operations in community healthcare. Otherwise, look for WHO or UNDP or other international donor agencies that fund such initiatives in Nigeria. Otherwise, like someone said, start something on your own (probably an NGO) and get funding from either of these bodies |
Correct moto. I like. Wanted to offer 2.9 but i see that someone has already offered it . . . |
Wow, lovely ride, |
norrisman:Dude, thumbs up. I like. However, i understand what the original poster is saying. My wife and i are both professionals earning about £40k plus a year and yes we NOW feel the strain on our pockets compared to what was obtainable before. I cant imagine what would have obtained if i was the only one working. The cost of everything is going up and yet salaries have been frozen (for some people) so i guess that if one person in the family is working, things would be tougher. But like you have said, putting these into perspectives, we should still appreciate the little things we take for granted like, security, access to healthcare and social amenities etc. |
AjanleKoko:But bros . . . i have a feeling that even if they bring in Nigerian returnees, these returnees may end up doing the same things that returnee Nigerians in other sectors have done. |
Lolllllllllllllllllllll. Great write up. . . but it was the last bit that got me. 'How to be a wedding guest'. Lol again! |
pro01: ![]() I sense two conflicting emotions from your comment. Annoyance and pity. |
I dont think we need to worry about OBJs fate. The man is extremely cunning and unpredictable and is likely to pull something out of his hat anytime. Like someone has said, the man has 'seen it all' and has reached the peak of his career in all respects. A General, President, head of international delegations. . . etc. What more can a man do to prove to all that he is not a pushover? EVEN if he dies now, he has lived the life that millions of people worldwide will not live in two lifetimes |
Pornodude:Wait a minute. Why should they not cruise around town with their expensive toys? Have they not worked hard for those toys? As long as they are not like our politicians that steal government money without doing anything, they are allowed to cruise around town with their expensive toys. Secondly, it is not compulsory to fight for the cause of the Nigerian youth. Cant the youth fight for themselves? Even if the youth cannot fight for themselves, it is not everybody's calling to be a social critic |
texazzpete:I totally agree. In fact, your post carries the day. How did Uduaghan even get ONE (1) VOTE, knowing that he has been implicated in the Ibori case concerning the stealing of money from Delta State? Is it that Deltans are so . . . . (i dont even have the words to use) that they will continue to vote for a crook? Likewise, i dont give a ra.ts backside who is in Government as long as he/she does the job. |
monkeyleg:. . . hopefully, that is if Nigeria has reached the stage where they are able and willing to bring people to book. But yes, i hope he serves at least 7 - 10 years behind bars. |
Wow, it seems like nobody watched this debate in full. Any more updates and/or comments for those of us who could not watch? |
Daniel is just wasting his time and effort. If OBJ gets a chance to hang him, he will hang him. Obj does not forgive just like that. The man is vindictive. |
Ah. . . Atiku TRIED to chance OBJ and look where it has got him. I dont think that he has recovered since then. As far as i am concerned, Obj is one of the most influential men in Nigeria today and a part cause of all Atiku's problems. |
dayokanu:Lol. . . dnt worry, no be only Ige. If Obj threatenes Daniel concerning Dina, Daniel will do the same concerning all the people that died during OBJs era. But i really hope that Daniel has a plan. Obj never, NEVER forgives and NEVER forgets. The guy has a black heart, so even if they make up anytime soon, Obj can still strike in the future |
afam4eva:I agree they cannot give a country that kind of wealth, but it is a collection of so many companies that can do such. British companies, along with American and other European companies used to lead the world in so many sectors before the advent of the Asians |
afam4eva:Jaguar only in the last few years became an indian company. It has always been known as a British Brand. Aston Martin na big car o, they are wholly in the luxury segment of the car market. If you have seen Casino Royale, the new Bond film, that is the sports car car that Daniel Craig was driving |
Haba, how una go dey talk like this? Britiains 'riches' did not start today na. The British people started plundering the world many years ago, by their exploration and travelling the whole world. That is why they were able to colonise many parts of the world and stamp their 'ownership' on those parts, even till today. Secondly, Britain does have lots and lots of multinationals, some of which have been sold in the last few years. Companies like Shell, BP, BAT, BT, AstraZeneca are scattered around the world, still 'plundering' poor third world countries of their resources. Other companies like the Jagua, Rover, MG, Triumph etc were all renowned british companies which in recent times, have been sold to indians and the chinese. Still some other companies such as BAe are a weapons manufacturing company, selling arms to countries all over the world. Most of all, like others have already mentioned the British people have (or used to have) KNOWLEDGE. They dont even have to do much, except sit back and collect royalties and 'taxes' from countries all over the world. Meanwhile, take a look at this link, http://www.top500.de/g0031200.htm |
Genbuhari3:My broda, our collective Nigerian psyche has been beaten, bruised and battered by successive govts such that we are critical and suspicious of every thing, good or bad. I am guilty of this too. . . i take everything with a pinch of salt first of all, before sitting to analyse and conclude. No matter who comes up to run for government, there will always be people that are against them. |
johndoe200:This is a good point and is one that has been on the minds of people for a while. The question is, 'whether Bakare can submit to Buhari by being a vice president, "Nigerian style"'. I would say that it depends, really. We remember Buhari's first time around where people said that it was actually Idiagbon that was the man really in charge of the government. It may be the same this time around, as we all know that it is not always the man that wears the crown who takes charge of the nation. It is not always the MD or CEO or Chairman of a company who actually runs the company, etc. For those who are students of the bible, or have been students of the bible, we also remember Joseph who was in the house of potipher. Joseph was second in command, but still 'the man in charge of everything'. He was the one who 'saved' the country from famine, was the one who drew up the laws of the country, etc. Almost the same thing is said about Daniel. Although he was not even the king, he was considered a very VERY powerful person so much so that when the kind was deceived into throwing Daniel into the Lion's den, he was greatly unhappy about it. It is also the belief of Christians that Daniel was actually 'the man in charge' of Babylon. We will never really know how the dynamics between Buhari and Bakare will pan out, but lets watch, wait and see. |
Maybe there is a higher plot - or maybe i have been watching too many movies. WHAT IF - God has told Bakare to run because he (Bakare) will end up as the president. Both may be sworn in and after a few months, Buhari just drops dead. Chikena. Bakare is now president. This is of course, assuming that their combination wins the elections. ![]() |
This is a very difficult task for me cos when i think of African leaders, i think of brute force, cunning and deceit, knowing that majority of African leaders got to their positions through such means. I cant seem to picture 'Obama, Clinton or Blair' leaders, who have used their charisma, power of speech and awesome relationship skills to win over the people. |
Ojigho:AAAAAMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNN |
otokx:My broda, i tire for naija and her politricks o. As a Nigerian and Deltan, i am continually dissapointed at the rate and level of development in the country and state. Successive governments have done next to nothing in the state, considering the amount of money the state 'earns' yearly. For those arguing that Uduaghan is doing something, i feel that yes, he may be doing something, but NOT ENOUGH OF WHAT IS EXPECTED OF HIM. If it is in his power to tar 20 roads and he tars 5, why should he be praised? If he can build 30 blocks of classrooms and he builds only 15, why should we be happy that he has done something? What happens or happened to all the monies he was supposed to use to complete the other 15 roads or 15 blocks of classrooms? It goes into his pockets or that of his cronies and yet we should praise him? I am beyond praising any governor anymore. We should stop praising them for doing 40, 50 or even 70% of what they are supposed to do. We should be more like the british - that NAG OVER EVERYTHING and demand for more and more accountability even when everthing still works for them! Living here in the UK, i sometimes dont understand why the citizens are so selfish and ungrateful. They have constant power, their roads are good, infrastructure is nice, education is excellent, healthcare works, systems are in place for progress etc etc and yet, the people are not satisfied. Compare that to Nigeria where nothing works and yet we praise these criminals for doing 'something'. . . Sorry, i am so upset. I have finished my rant! Let me not continue. |
One thing i dont understand is that if Uduaghan was sacked for 'cheating' in the last elections, why is he still contesting? Shouldnt he be BANNED? In all areas of life, education, business, games etc, if you are caught cheating, you would be suspended for a few years. Why is politics any different? If Uduaghan wins again, it will be a big shame on our electoral system. SMH |
justwise:I think the highlighted part is the summary of all the arguements. No one is discouraging anyone from coming to the UK to study. What a lot of us are trying to say is that in the years past, many people came here to study, with the hopes of either settling here or working for a while before returning to Nigeria. Getting into either of these is now very tough. Even applying to study here is now getting to be quite difficult because, correct me if i am wrong, but the prospective student now has to show proof of ALL of the fees or even pay it all off at once - unlike before when you could get around it. Then, you did not have to pay all your fees at once and you could even finish school without having paid the tuition. Again, like some posters have stated, the govt wants to reduce the number of hours that students can work from 20 to 10. I remember when i was a student, having paid ALL MY FEES IN ONE SWOOP (Tuition - £22,000 and Accomodation - £4000), i had to work for about 18 hours weekly for money for my upkeep. If i had to come here to study under these conditions, i may not have been able to make it. After that, i made up my mind that i had to work here for a while, to 'get back' a bit of the money i spent on my education - and that is why i am still here! |
size12:I am also in the UK. I studied here and am currently working and living here. I share the same sentiments with the poster and WILL NOT ENCOURAGE anyone i know to come here - to work or study. My advice will be to find another country to go to. For now, Canada SEEMS to be a good place to go to. Things are becoming very uncertain and tight here in the UK and because of that, i have set a single goal for myself - as soon as my current contract ends in the next 4 years, I AM OUT OF HERE whether things change or not. |
Sagamite:Hey brov, is it that you've been hurt real bad before or are you a budding psychologist? ![]() I read the write up on the link you posted earlier and you dey analyse well o! And hell yeah, that Julie girl has issues. At this rate, its going to be pretty hard for her to live with a man. r231:Maybe thats why she uses that 'surprise' Lollllllllllll |
Seriously guys, it may be time to abandon Arik for more straightforward and transparent airlines. ALL Nigerian businesses (airlines included) are excellent when they start but with time, begin to mess up. It is downhill for them from then on. With the number of times i fly the London-Lagos route, i have never and can never consider Arik or any other local airline (eg, during the days of Virgin Nigeria and Bellview). Virgin Atlantic is always first on my list, then BA, Lufthansa and then AirFrance. |
