Fhemmmy:Dude, we are on the same wavelenght. I happen to believe that i am married to a wonderful woman, a good one at that. Hence, i will go to any length to make sure i treat her right and keep her happy. I believe that if she is happy and content, then i will also be happy and content. I do not subscribe to that nonsense of "our iyawo". That is rubbish. I believe also that this is what causes a lot of problems in our Nigerian/African households - where a mans brother, sister or parent can walk into a mans house and start ordering the mans wife around. Gaddemit, i will not take that from any of my people. That said, i will not walk into any of my siblings houses (younger or older, male or female) and start lording it over anyone. SO WHY SHOULD ANYONE DO THAT TO MY OWN WIFE? |
Btw brother and wife? The brother has to go and go quickly. I will not tolerate anyone who belittles my wife's status in OUR house and home. Even my parents will not try it talkless of a brother! Maturity does not mean that you have to pacify both of them and make them friends or make them tolerate each other. Maturity also means that you are old enough and responsible enough to take some actions AND STAND BY THOSE ACTIONS. Throw the little bugger out of your house and stand by your decision. If any family members or elders attack you for doing such, maintain your decision. That is maturity. |
Seriously, some states do not deserve. . . or warrant airports. The amount of money that is spent on the infrastructure can be put to better use. What is wrong with having regional airports. If the roads are excellent, why cant i fly to PH or Calabar and take a 2-3 hour journey by road to Akwa Ibom? Just the other day, Ekiti was talking of building an international airport. FUNNY! On a normal day, i wonder how many people will actually fly to this Akwa Ibom airport. Unless they want to talk of having only 2 or 3 flights a week sha! |
Ibime:Dont mind them. These oyibos just dey use sense to 'share' Africa the way their forefathers did during the first scramble. If we dig a bit deeper, i am sure we will find more children of former western leaders and even the leaders themselves, whose hands are covered with African blood. |
blacksta:My guy, i tire for them o! Ordinary plane landing. They have not eaten to their hearts content, its a plane they are going to watch. These politicians just use these things to 'cover' the people's eyes. Meanwhile, at 7.22 i quote, ', ended the suffering to Calabar on a bad road. You will no longer stay there for 6 hours, '. Instead of fixing the bloody roads, they are constructing airports so that people can fly How many people can afford the flights?Anyway, if the people are happy with it, i am happy for them. |
Aloy~Emeka:I have been hearing about this guy since i was a little boy, in the 80's. I have been reading newspapers and watching tv but have never seen a picture of him, he is hardly in the news and he generally keeps a low profile - although he was said to be the richest man in Nigeria and/or Africa at one point. It is not known where he lives, if he has kids, is married etc etc. He is like an enigma |
Gyp, gypsy, psych |
This has happened before! Another Nigerian - The famous but elusive Deinde Fernandez - has been an ambassador for other countries other than Nigeria. I think he was Central African Republic's ambassador to the UN at one time. |
Foreign countries will treat people the way their home countries treat them. Nigeria, a country with a total disregard for its citizens, is getting from China, Libya and others the kind of treatment they give to us at home. We have all seen how the western countries hold their citizens in high esteem. Do we remember how Clinton, a former president, went to North Korea to negotiate the release of two American Citizens? North Korea could have just killed those two women but they chose to hold on a bit. I am sure that if they were Nigerians, they would have shot them on the spot, knowing that Nigeria is a very unserious country and does not care for its citizens. However, WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE PEOPLE DOING IN CHINA? It is very unfortunate that some people no dey hear word. China is not a place where you decide to be illegal. Being black, they will stand out from everyone else and can easily be spotted anywhere. This is another unfortunate thing about Nigerians. When they are told NOT TO GO INTO CHINA BECAUSE OF THE REGIME, they turn a deaf ear to all advice. In this sense, i am not really sympathetic to their plight. . . including their death. With this development, you will find out that more Nigerians will still go into China or stay there illegally, even with the knowledge that being there can lead to their death. How do you sympathize with these kind of people? |
Lovely. This march/protest should be done more often because i foresee that this one march may not accomplish anything. @Vicade: I also hope that more 'men of God' take it upon themselves to fight for these things. Tunde Bakare is doing his own part. I dont know what the others (Adeboye, Oyedepo and co) will say they are doing, sitting in their mansions and enjoying life with helicopters, planes, jeeps and co - while the average man suffers. |
puskin:I tire for them too o! I dont know how Obj got on that list. Maybe it was an error |
Gaddemit. I sincerely hope that none of us will EVER HAVE ANY REASON TO VISIT THOSE HOSPITALS FOR A SURGERY |
nuzo:OK, i see where you are coming from now, but e no easy for a family to accept the money. 2M naira - that is a big joke. What will be more satisfactory is for the culprits to be found and brought to book. However, the nigeria in which we are today will not allow such a thing to be done. Innocent people are being killed daily and nothing is done. While i could care less when the politicians kill each other (the likes of Ige and co) i am saddened at the loss of a life - when it is an 'innocent' person who is struggling to better him/her self by engaging in silly programs like the NYSC. |
Chei, this life don tire man sef. Will we ever see a good Nigeria? This road has been in the News since the days of IBB and nothing has been done thus far. Haba! The people responsible for these roads no go die betta o! I don talk my own. |
nuzo:Chei Nuzo, i hope this is a joke! If to say na your sister die (GOD FORBID) will you accept the 2 milla and move on? |
Utaroz:Next thing now is to claim assylum. Let him (and Ribadu) claim that the government is persecuting him and he will be granted assylum. |
michelin89: Thank you |
michelin89:Michelin89. . . oya kiss me too! |
Recession A period of general economic decline; typically defined as a decline in GDP for two or more consecutive quarters. A recession is typically accompanied by a drop in the stock market, an increase in unemployment, and a decline in the housing market. A recession is generally considered less severe than a depression, and if a recession continues long enough it is often then classified as a depression. There is no one obvious cause of a recession, although overall blame generally falls on the federal leadership, often either the President himself, the head of the Federal Reserve, or the entire administration. Depression Definition: a long-term economic state characterized by unemployment and low prices and low levels of trade and investment WE ARE IN A STATE OF DEPRESSION, WHICH IS CONSIDERED WORSE THAN RECESSION! |
One thing is to create jobs, another thing is to meet the expectations of those who are taking up those jobs. Yes, i agree that ANY job may better than NO job but i wonder. . . how much will Obj be paying those people. Is the work they will be doing commensurate to the salary they will be getting because i have this bad feeling that some will be working dusk to dawn and will be getting 12,000 naira per month as salary. Have we all heard about the 'jobs' that the Oyo state governor 'created' for graduates? This may be one of those situations! |
Beaf:I owe you one bottle of beer! Correct analysis |
babs2aroks:UNPLUG THE TV AND LOCK IT UP. . . that was the first thing pittbaby said! Bring it out only on weekends. Jeez, dont understand |
Aloy.Emeka:They did not 'flee' abroad. I am sure he sent them there to school and they never came back . |
blackspade:At the risk of sounding pessimistic, what makes us think that if a sizeable and commercial quantity of oil is found in Lake Chad basin, the northerners would 'allow us to share'? That is when they will change the constitution and true federalism will now be enacted. Esp if the resource is beginning to dwindle in the south/east However, i dont understand why these foreign bodies keep predicting doom for Nigeria. First it was the US that said that Nigeria will be no more by 2015 or so and now UK is giving their own opinion. I am waiting for France, Germany and China to give their own quotes too! |
Wow, those two speeches/presentations were lovely. Ms Adichie was really fluent and flawless. . . |
Akpangbon, Not forcing anything on anyone. Just answering a question with reasons for my answer! Is that a crime? Are you offended? Ok, i am sorry. |
She is not helping anything. She just dey run mouth. I have said it before and i say it again - how can you be trying to rebrand a country with the type of government we have? With people like Ibori still running loose and pulling government strings, Aondoakaa mouthing off stupidly, almost all government bodies on strike (ASUU, NASU, SANU, Doctors, Nurses etc) etc etc, what will she say she is rebranding? The rest of the world just thinks that Nigeria is a joke. The woman should have resigned/retired a long time ago. She should have followed people like Ezekwesili and Okonjo-Iweala to join one of those international organizations. Shebi she was offered one of them before she accepted the useless post she is in now. Now, who is the laughing stock or foolish one of all of them? |
Psychology is a very stong thing. It governs your emotions and eventually, your actions. I think that psychologically, Nigerians are tired and frustrated. Instead of fighting, it is easy to either adjust to the bad conditions or leave the country. That is what most people do these days. Another example is that we have been raped by successive governments. When you continually rape a woman . . . or man, he/she slowly loses the will to live and lives in a state of stupor. I think we are in a state of stupor, where very few people, like the late Gani, Soyinka and others (who are financially, emotionally, etc empowered) still live to continue the fight. These kind of people are few in number to those who are not empowered. |
Aloy`Emeka:Haba Aloy, we are not that bad o. Nigerians frown at that kind of life, where men cannot control their 'private parts' and jump around town sleeping with girls and women! We can take a simple poll from the discussants of this topic. Yes, we want those basic amenities that you have mentioned BUT we also want leaders that maintain a form of decorum when it concerns women and family life. |
OMO IBO:I beg to differ on that o. i think that he must be getting some allowances or in the worst case, goodwill from these relationships. Like you have rightly stated, Prince Charles as a prince is expected to do certain things. . . i agree to that one. Even though he is not getting paid from these 'charitable' ventures, he is getting paid for doing those duties by the government. Somehow somehow, there is no free lunch and he is getting paid for doing those things. Somehow, after living and working in the UK, i have this feeling that NOBODY, absolutely NOBODY gets away with getting paid for doing absolutely nothing. Well to be honest, there may be a few people sha. . . but i dont thing that the Prince is one of them. |
How many people can afford the flights?

Thank you
