Sanusi is an Idiiiiooot, he wants to hold his grand father's estate together. There is no reasons why any state should be paying 96% of their revenue on concurrent expenditure. What we have in many states are bad Managers, Ex Gombe State Goverment paid himself $ 1 million dollars severance pay to himself whose fault is that.  huh undecided

This is a state created after Kwara, ONDO, OGUN, and Kano. For this reason I object to any cull in state creation. State creations brings development close to grass root people. We need good managers to manage the states. Another thing I have noticed of recent,  why has all the State Houses of Assembly suddenly become fearful, toothless bulldogs allowing the Governors to rule with ignominy. They should be impeaching any incapable Governor, they are the last bastion of the common man. undecided
why do you, make such statement. he is not an Idio.t,U K does not have states to have development. I think he made sense in all he said

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) would start Lagos-Ilorin passenger train service from tomorrow, a statement from the corporation said.

This signals the completion of track rehabilitation work between Lagos and Jebba by the Chinese contracting firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC).

The statement said the final track inspection was carried out October 21 – 22 for the purpose of ascertaining the level of preparedness and fitness of the tract section for safe running of train.

The inspection was under the leadership of Government Inspector of Railways and engineers from NRC, CCECC, Roughton consultancy and representatives from the Federal Ministry of Transport.

The Lagos – Ilorin Express train service will for the moment serve as the flag-ship of NRC passenger train service pending the completion of the Jebba – Kano line due for completion in December.

The statement said that management of NRC has assembled dedicated coaches and locomotive engines for the train service which will depart Lagos every Friday at 9:00am from Iddo terminus with a return journey to Lagos on Sundays.

The coaches are made up to 1st class sleeper, second class air-conditioned coaches and the economy class. There is also a restaurant coach and modern toilet facilities for passengers’ convenience, the statement said.

According to the statement, special operations staff have been deployed for the train service which also include medical officers and the Railway Police, adding that the train service is also fitted with baggage vans for bulk goods and farm produce.

China gets the west to build its railway while we go for Chinese and then call it unique. I guess it is unique becos we spend more and get 18 century coaches

You will always abuse because you are empty, sir. It doesn't change easily verifiable facts.

Buhari has spent 90% of his political life being chairman of the NNPC. He formed NNPC into what it is today. Indeed, Buhari was its first head in 1977 during the period corruption set into the oil industry (Decree 33, NNOC & MPR extinguished).
He was also petroleum minister under Obasanjo, PTF chairman under Abacha (whom he claims never stole a penny).
With Buhari under Abacha, there was rampant removal of the "subsidy" and award of importation contracts to cronies, Buhari became the chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) that disbursed monies accrued from the removal of "subsidies."

So tell me, is Buhari being honest, or is he just flying an ugly populist kite?
You can't buy me that cheap and i can't be nice to you  becos you see thngs that are killling me nad my generations and you keep supporting then blindly.

What exactly is Buhari saying? He was behind the removal of subsidies in abacha's time, he was behind the advent of the word, "subsidy" into the Nigeria lexicon as petroleum minister, head of PTF and of course, as head of state.

It is quite disingenious for a man of his status to suddenly disown the baby he brought into this World, simply because it is damn ugly.
Bring you facts you fool, how are they subsidizing , that is what we should ask. How come we don't hear all this in other oil producing countries as much as we hear in Nigeria. They should subsidize their pockets

^^^ The reason kobojunkie picked on the NIGERIAN FOODS bit is because Kobojunkie has no INSIDE INFO on how much we actually spend as a nation, other than what I glean from the Nigerian bureau of statics and other parastatals, who I very suspect play with the numbers as well. I mean we are being told by them that unemployment in Nigeria is at  about 19%. I don't know anyone personal who would believe that gunk.
I felt you could have agreed with the main point of bogus statistics that I was making before pointing out of our import from Ghana, at least we still came to an agreement from both side. A more serious record like knowing how much crude oil is pumped out , they don't know , talkless of food for the masses. They love us so much and the spend that much yet the small fuel subsidy they want to take out.

PROUD-IGBO:
Those figures quoted are suspect (around $160 billion shocked).

But why wouldn't we lay more emphasis on importation when a sizeable number of the working population are chasing oil/government contracts, and the remainder lucky enough to get employment would prefer working in Banks; Oil and Blue-chip companies, irrespective of their qualifications. With our penchant for quick and easy money to show-off with, farming is seen as too much of a hassle; hard work; not prestigious enough and you'd be likely to grow grey hairs b/4 you start seeing adequate returns on your investments. The fact of the matter is easy 'oyel' money has made us lazy in this country.

The few large-scale farmers we have are not adequate for our needs as a country, and also not efficient and focused enough as many of them are distracted by other commitments like politics and other businesses they may have.

And for those pissed-off to the point of wanting a revolution: fat chance of that happening!!! wink. There's so much complexity to our make-up as a 'nation' for any revolution to be successful. If one were to happen, you'd be sure to see the elite/ruling-class/politicians/Oligarchs play on ethnicity and religious sentiments to dagbaru the whole thing angry. Think back to the events leading up to the coup of 1966 and you'll understand where i'm going with this line of reasoning. The only way a revolution can work is if the ethnic nationalities that make-up Nigeria today were allowed to leave and form their own countries, and then maybe seek to form REAL nations or confederations with like-minded ethnicites where equity/justice/merit are non-negotiable and there's no recourse to the antiquated ideas of quota-system and federal character nonsense that is holding us back as a nation. If this were to happen, then and only then would the theiving ruling-class have a fight on their hands.
That is very true, a simple example  is when I pointed out that the figures were bogus and all what KOBOJUNKIE(whom I always respect in NL) could pick out from my post was that  egusi and garri are imported from Ghana, so that is to say Ghana should be getting at least 1 trillion naira a year of our money every year. Most Nigerian chase shadow than the real thing to be able to revolutionize.

Nigeria Imports N24tr Food Yearly

AS the global community celebrates the World Food Day today, the grim food crisis in Nigeria has taken the centre stage at different fora across the country in the past weeks.

The dire situation is poignantly brought home by the hefty amount the country spends annually to import the most basic staple foods, including rice, fish, sugar and wheat.

Besides other sources, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Resources, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina and the Ondo State governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, presented the alarming stats.

For instance, Nigeria spent N98 trillion ($628 billion) between 2007 and 2010 on importation of food into the country. This translates to N24 trillion yearly.

In 2010 alone, the country spent N632 billion on wheat; N356 billion on rice; N217 billion on sugar and N97 billion on fish.

While it produces only 500,000 metric tons of rice, Nigeria consumes 2.5 metric tons. Hence, it spends about N1 billion per day on rice alone.

Estimated annual fish demand for Nigeria is about 2.66 metric tons. Yet, the 2009 annual domestic production was about 0.78 metric tons with a supply-demand gap of about 1.88 metric tons.

Although livestock output in the country has been growing at six to seven per cent annually, it is unable to match the growth of demand due to poor nutrition, disease and poor breed, according to the Minister of Agriculture.

This has prompted sharp increases in the price of livestock and meat in the past five years.

Governor Mimiko summed up the facts on ground thus: “This is a clear departure from the reality of Nigeria in the 1960s when agriculture provided the main source of employment, income and foreign exchange earnings for Nigeria.

The advent of commercial oil exploitation in the mid 1970s, no doubt, heralded an era of decay for agricultural output in Nigeria.”

I know you guys will attack me , but this still shows that we are very backward in keeping records, it is impossble for Nigeria to spent that amount in a year, how much do we make and how much is our budget in a year. For me personally, I eat egusi soup, garri and other Nigerian product most of the time in a year, They should stuff those figure in their a.s.s. Common to pay minimum wages, they are sshouting talkless is thinking of the mass and importing that amount of food

Southeast governors insist on new state

By Chris Oji

Southeast governors yesterday gave a condition for backing the planned constitution amendment: an additional state in their region.

They threatened to withdraw support for the exercise, if they are not given another state.

The Southeast has the least number of states – five – among the six geo-political zones.

To perfect their plan, the governors met in Enugu yesterday.

They resolved to present their report for discussion at the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) meeting in Abuja tomorrow.

The governors said it was high time all geo-political zones in the country had equal number of states in the interest of equity, fairness and justice.

Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum Peter Obi of Anambra State told reporters that they met to articulate a common position and present their demands at the NGF meeting. Constitution amendment was the main agenda at the Enugu meeting.

Obi said if the Southeast’s request for additional state fails to receive priority attention, its five governors would back out of discussions on constitution amendment.

He said: “Basically today (yesterday), we discussed one issue, the issue of constitution amendment, especially as it concerns the creation of an additional state for the zone, to have the same number of states in all the zones of the country.

We are not asking for a particular number of states. We are only calling for equality of states for all the zones and that is what we want.

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha said: “If the Northwest zone could have seven states, the Southeast zone could as well have seven. In essence, the Southeast governors are calling for additional states.

The Seventh National Assembly has kick started the process for constitution amendment.

The Senate and the House of Representatives has each constituted Constitution Review Committees.

The committees will collate the position of Nigerians on the amendments in addition to leading the process of amendment.

While Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu chairs the Senate Committee on constitution review, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha chairs the Reps’ committee.

Both of them are incidentally from the Southeast.

http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/22360-southeast-governors-insist-on-new-state.html
The fact still remains that most Nigerian do not have visions or know how a country can move forward. They keep on looking for things that are not important and would still bring the country down. Instead of them to discuss how to managed properly the states already in place, discuss how the constitution can be changed, creating a more secured and developed environment.
Creating more states in the present Nigeria is just madness, I always say this that we should go back to basics and get things to work and stop chasing shadow, shame on Peter Obi

You can check below for the completed project as at ending last year

I also remember when the federal government refunded money for the power plant and $80 million dollar went missing.

As much as I applaud Akpabio for the development initiative, I have the inkling that this development drive is unsustainable given that much of the revenue utilized for the development comes from oil proceeds. With the oil wells and costal lines thought to have belonged to Akwa-Ibom now being reclaimed by Cross-Rivers and Rivers States, like some economic analyst have said not too long ago, Akwa-Ibom would shoot itself in the foot.

More worrying is the fact that the state IGR rank below states like Edo and Ogun and I am of the opinion that it is not enough for governments today in Nigeria to build roads, bridges, etcas they must go a step further to ensure the development is sustainable by strengthening thier financial based through well orchestrasted IGR.

In all, kudos to Akwa-Ibom and the Akpabio government.

This is exactly what he said. The game did not favor Nigeria and the first to score will win. He was simply saying that if there is no prophesy, the people are in darkness

Animal Nigerians without head. You will soon reap what you sowed.

I am sure ordinary Nigerians are better than you commentators here.

Sure it is the children of the stealing elites that would never see the truth that Buhari keeps saying.

He cried during the election and we laughed. Today we have a GEJ. The masses are dying. But don't worry, it will soon get to most of us.

Then in shame we will come to realise the saint that Buhari is.

cursed people! cursed land.

I am ashamed to be part of you
Well said my brother, I always feel Nigerians deserve what they get, When Fela was shouting about all this, they say him dey smoke , make they no mind am, now Buhari did not rule himself out from being elite, all he is saying is the youth should hold the elite responsible for our problems.
But all you can see people do here is to come and attack the sense that the man is talking. Nigeria and its people are doomed
