The Archbishop was emphatically saying whilst he couldn't vouch for previous Presidents of Nigeria, the "one" in power today (Buhari) isn't corrupt. I think he played an excellent role in that short video clip if you actually watched it.

I watched the video. Very, very embarrassing. It wasn't so much about what he said, it's how he said it and the laughter that followed.

Leaves me utterly cold too. That's typical British attitude he displayed: nice to your face whilst ferociously backbiting in your absence. That said, what he said is equally true. But come to think of it - the West is as guilty. Why? syphoned funds often end up in their banking system. Besides, the activities of European and US oil and gas companies in Nigeria are enmeshed in fantastically corrupt practices. And what about African artefacts stolen and housed in Britain today? Isn't that a classical evidence of fantastically corrupt practices? Perhaps we should say this is a case of pot calling kettle black.

[b]OP, there are Britons with masters and PhDs from Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group Universities with no adequate jobs; there are Americans with higher degrees (masters and doctorates) from Ivy League US Universities who are underemployed; there are Canadians with higher degrees from world class universities who are suffering underemployment. That said, whilst I am not against further studies, do yourself a favour. Stick to that job - don't quit it for any higher degree; find online degrees (Aberdeen University and other Scottish universities, for example, offer distance learning MScs in Oil and Gas disciplines); and, earn your postgraduate degree that way: you'll receive the same degree parchment as those who left their jobs and relocated to gain higher degrees. The word 'online' or 'distance' doesn't and wouldn't appear on your degree certificate. Finally, note that the greatest mistake you can make is to quit your job, travel to go and pursue a degree, and subsequently become permanently jobless. Many have, unknowingly and sadly, fallen - irrevocably - into this trap. May you never experience career suicide that would cause people (including those you regard as friends) to laugh you to scorn.[/b]

What a shame. These Nigerian governors cannot order police commissioners in their respective states to ensure that they remain at alert and ensure culprits are brought to book? Let it be that when thorough investigations have been carried out, culprits identified, arrested, charged and sentenced, then the Northern oligarchs are the one prostrating, seeking that justice is tampered with mercy not these idiots travelling to Abuja to seek federal assistance.

Somewhere, sometime ago, a pond was poisoned, these herdsmen came calling, their cows drank and all died. In a classical style, the very same people who executed this plan sympathised with them and told them stories of how poisonous the roots of a particular tree standing right in the middle of the pond has been from time immemorial. They dared the almajiris drink from the pond and see if they wouldn't die. The idiots believed and never, ever ventured into that community.

Recently, following the panama papers saga, the British Prime Minster had to come clean about his private finances whilst the Icelandic's Prime Minister's political career abruptly came to an end --exemplifying no one is above the law.

RIP to the dead and may the victims' families have the fortitude to bear the loss. Nigeria itself is a death trap. Until traffic laws are kept in that country these things would continue to happen. No amount of fasting and prayers would prevent it. Why? In saner climes cars go through annual MOT checks when they're thoroughly examined and either passed or failed. Speed limits are in place, and speed cameras installed to catch offenders, and of course drivers can't take booze before getting behind the wheels. In Nigeria none of these traffic rules apply. Nigeria is, in every sense of the word, a FAILED STATE.

Other herdsmen would get the message and retreat to the North and Niger republic where they belong and where they could do as they wish. How many times have they clashed and killed people in the North? Until we send such a strong message, this act of impunity would continue unabated.

Precisely my thought. I was just going to say Yoruba Obas are the custodians of ancient traditions, rites and rituals of our people. What an absolute shame. The other day, Professor Wande Abimbola was raising awareness about the gradual decline in spoken Yoruba becuase everyone is trying to speak English at the expense of our mother tongue. Now, the Obas who should uphold our cultures and traditions are sitting on ancient thrones in jeans and suits, cavorting with allegedly former call girls.
