Jonra: Interesting discovery > marinetraffic.com and it's real time too. Learned som' new today - Onne port is almost as busy as Lagos. Should come in handy someday. And is there another online resource I can use to track ships at our national ports? yes there are loads but this is free as it is, but if you pay on same site you get a whole load of other options, mayB you can track a container too. |

Odingo1: Nigeria is a segregated country that doesn't want all its part to develop, they prefer backwardness and their tribes prefer seeing others suffering and on sunday and friday they will enter churches and mosque to go and deceive their-selves.
South Africa have six standard seaport that covers the whole country, you cant live in Capetown and be going all the way to Durban to clear your goods. So does the Sea port in cape town deal in all cargoes?,Does it deal with Roro and container goods veseels? as well as Crude Oil vesels? The reason Im saying this is simple, ports are built for specific ocean going vessels. |

I never disputed that, I know Onne port is one of THE best ports in Nigeria, I use it all the time, I'm basically saying the post did not capture ports of Sapele instead said Koko which has next to non existent. I was basically saying for economic reasons one might chose Lagos to Onne port cos of market target. Let me give you an Instant, I'm shipping a car to Lagos right a bout now cos I want to do work on it @ Lagos so the container is going to Lagos 1st time in for years! I recon U mis understood me. |

harrismcse: please stop talking trash? Onitsha port is working and the million of traders there will waste their time and resources to bring their goods in tru lagos? the Federal government is tactically under developing the SS/SE regions to the detriment of the whole nation. Apapa is a nightmare because of port activities, even at that they cant repair the roads, instead they ask Dangote to repair and be given a tax waiver worth billions of naira. we are a failed and divisive state. like someone said earlier I blame GEJ, cos if he had put his foot on ground to revamp and dredge those that need dredging with d speed of light all this trash wont be happening. Plz tell em, I see why PMB used the word lazy Nigerian youths, you can as a matter of fact check vessels going in and out of every functional sea port in the world for free on line even Onne port, but they prefer naira bet and codeine instead of investing their times in more meaningful education! |

laudate: Don't mind those jokers. They just like peddling propaganda, that is unsupported by any kind of fact. They like playing the victim. I have two friends that stopped using Lagos ports to clear their goods, and started using Onne port, since last year. The freight charge from Onne sea port using trucks to Uyo, Sapele and Asaba is far lower than what they would have pad from Lagos port, to those places. That's very correct, and even the risk, imagine if you container of glass tables and shelves fall , plus less wahala on the roads. |

laudate: Oga, did you read my post with an open mind, before jumping on your keyboard to type this epistle? Is Onne sea port not closer to the Southeast region, than Lagos? Is Onne port NOT operational? Are goods and raw materials not being consigned to onne port, and cleared by importers from there on a daily basis?
So why are your importers obsessed with using Lagos ports? Produce or cite one policy that federal govt has used to strangulate operations in eastern ports. Please paste it here in black & white, so we can all read and verify. How come that same policy has not strangulated Onne port? You got a point, that poster is uninformed. I ship to Onne port, that statement of obsession with Lagos is not true per say, I think its a Biz decision to either do Lagos or the South East. Even Onitsha ports received cargoes. Cos at the Shipping oys in china there are shipments bound for them destinations I mentioned. If I think its more profitable to ship to Lagos cos my mkt target is South West then yea.ie Bulk sales. But if I'm selling per unit then the final destination would be my target mkt. |

obailala: Anybody is allowed to use Onne, but I hear it cost more, so only oil companies seem to patronize it. Nah not true, the vast majority of importers fro the south south and the south East use this port, but if you are not in the circle you wont know, they are very busy there. |

Odingo1: I have been to Onitsha river port, nothing is happening there, I also stay in portharcourt for sometime, people import their goods from lagos which is bad.
The moment Nigeria start allowing other states to develop the better for them, you cant have only one functioning state like lagos in a big country like Nigeria and be concentrating all major infrastructural development in one state.
In Germany here major companies are giving free tax incentives for moving their companies to Eastern Germany in an effort by their FG to develop eastern germany, In South Africa international airports and seaports are built in such a way that the whole country is covered. Nobody travel from capetown to go and board a flight in Johanesbourg just to leave South Africa. I shipped 2x 40ft from china to Onne port last year, I am also shipping another 20ft from London as we speak, so my friend if you know you KNOW!, and to be well informed, you can check live daily manifest of ships/vessels in and out of the Ports in real time on line for free. Nigerians youths are too lazy to dig deep for a bit of research! |

A very uninformed write up. There is no Port at koko rather Sapele. Other Ports mentioned are functioning, He also forgot to mention the Onitsha ports, Goods are shipped to Onne port daily. The rest of the ports do work but not as busy as Lagos due to low patronage .OP you can buy 10 ship loads of goods and ship to Onitsha or Onne ports. |

He is just as safe as other danfo drivers in Lagos. you are totally wrong in all senses.
