Limassol: Not really. They were well to do. Way better than my parents at the least. There's an economic theory which states that the poor spend a larger percentage of their income on consumer goods (e.g food) than the rich. The poor love food more than the rich. 2 Likes |

The full loaf. I got myself in trouble when I went to live with my aunt briefly after secondary school. First morning breakfast they said we were having bread and tea. I wanted to be modest so I managed half the loaf. Imagine my shock when I was scolded and told that the bread was meant for the entire household (5 persons)! Bread when only me go finish on a normal day o!!! I later adjust sha. Before I left there I couldn't take more than 4 slices. 6 Likes |

Food / Re: Inflation: What Is Happening Pls? by eROCK247(m): 1:17am On Jul 22, 2021 |
Our problem is not analysis. What we have is an attitudinal problem and frankly, it'll take a miracle for our problems to subside. 1. We measure success solely by the amount of wealth one displays hence, people are desperate to flaunt wealth by spending. High expenditure implies high inflation rate. 2. Number 1 above would've been neutralised by investors producing more but unfortunately, we import most of our goods. 3. The government ordinarily can correct this anomaly by encouraging investors with tax holidays, subsidies on raw materials, etc. but these are capital intensive projects that will reduce income and won't give them immediate gains. So, they rather borrow, inflate budgets on shadow projects and spend the syphoned money on more foreign goods. 4. Insecurity means farmers can't go to farms and transporters have to avoid some roads. This leads to scarcity which in turn leads to higher prices... I hope with these few points of mine I've been able to convince and not confuse you that the future of this country is bleak and requires prayer and hardwork. |

Religion / Re: My Confusion About God And The Scriptures. by eROCK247(m): 9:01pm On Jul 01, 2021 |
udoji2021: 1. You can't JUST ENJOY life because of the Golden rule of "sowing and reaping". Men sow evil and reap it bountifully. 2. The law states above answers this question. "It is appointed unto men once to die and after this comes judgment" when God will give to everyone according to their works. That time is the ultimate harvest. 3. To him whom much is given, much is expected. He who knows and breaks the law will receive more strokes...you have to understand that everyone has a conscience. No matter what happens we know right and wrong that's why even our native traditions have laws that safeguards life. 4. The problem with Jehovah's witnesses is that they are indoctrinated not to listen to any opposing teaching. If they'd listen, we could have a "discussion" (not a debate) on scripture. Hell, Hades, lake of fire is a constant topic from Genesis through revelation. Man was created in the image of God hence man is like God...eternal. In teaching the resurrection, Jesus said "He is God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob... He is God of the living and not of the dead". If they're not "dead", where are they? If only 774,000 will be in heaven, who are the countless multitudes from every tribe standing before God's throne? |

nairalandankrah: Okay you've criticised, can you share your better ideas? Resource control you said? So getting capital would stop the fight for resource control...? Farming pays with the right capital. Agricultural products are great resources that we've ignored for too long. As for him begging...you're not God. |

mike8804: Oga IPOB is seeking a secession. That in itself is treason, a crime against the Federal Republic of Nigeria. That is not in anyway to detract from the fact that the current government is selfish, bias and greedy without a single consideration for the plight of the citizens. If they are sincere, armed herdsmen should be arrested and prosecuted. What's their excuse for refusing the establishment of state police? The government must act to diffuse the current insecurity in the country and do it fast! |
