Thank you very much ma. I did my calculations for the return ticket fee and hotel charges and it amounted to 953 GBP per person using the Oanda exchange rates. Would a budget of 1,000 or 1,050 GBP per person be reasonable or unrealistic considering the fact that I am yet to add the cost of feeding and other sundry expenses such as transportation for the period to it? Please, advise. Thanks. |
Hi everyone. So I'm trying to apply for a visitor's visa for my family for a trip to the UK this summer and I am somewhat confused as to what to fill in here for my daughter: 1. What is the total amount of money you spend each month? 2. How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit to the UK? 3. How much money will they be paying towards your visit? The trip is for a family of 5, fully sponsored by myself and the hotel accommodation charges are about 925 British Pounds for an 8-day trip. I would like to know what the amount to budget for the trip should be for an income of about 830k per month for a trip of 5 people fully sponsored by myself. Can the 2.5 - 3x disposable income rule (6k British Pounds) be strictly adhered to in this case for this number of people (5)? Any contribution would be highly appreciated NB: I already got my 2-year visitor's visa. |
babyfaiz:Munich, Germany. Yes, it's a tourist visa. |
Visa alert! Online submission date: April 8 Biometrics: May 9 Pick up email: May 30 Visa issued: 2 years. I wish everyone here goodluck in their visa applications. |
This is very scary to say the least. However, it appears they expected the individual to at least add a document showing what touristic activity(ies) he/she would be engaging in for the entire duration of his/her stay in the UK. It appears their expectations, especially for first timers, are changing according to their (ECO's) mood at the time of adjudication because this requirement is mostly for Schengen visa applicants. Other than this, I can't find any other reason (s) for the refusal. kpiper2473: |
Noted but I have gotten a US visa twice in the past on the invitation of a friend who we lived together for several years before he relocated to the US. They just asked me how long we have known and all that. The way they deny these days is the reason why we sometimes get confused as to what they really want to see or hear. The last time I went for an interview, a young man was refused when he said he was going to stay with his mom when asked who was going to host him in the US. That family tie is very strong and could raise a red flag that the family member may keep you back and help you navigate the system as an illegal. Dampops: |
@Dampops, does using a friend's address as where one would be staying going to have a negative effect on a visa application? Dampops: |
My sincere apologies BOSS. I noticed your attention to detail in your responses and I thought you were a lady...my bad! Thanks once again boss.. much appreciated! Dampops: |
Thanks ma. I really appreciate. Dampops: |
@dampops You were very correct. I was advised to book an in-person interview which I just did, but in another post (Berlin) as there are no dates at all at Frankfurt post. Do I have to fill another DS160 or stick to the old one I had submitted at Frankfurt that was returned? Please advise. Dampops: |

I included it so they can release my passport on time so the UK visa won't expire whilst my passport is still at the embassy as I have to be in the UK as soon as next week as the visa expires before the end of this month. The last time I applied via the IW, I was sent an email after 3 weeks to login to my cgi profile and accept the date they chose for me for an in-person interview which was in another 3 weeks, totaling 6 weeks from when my documents were received at the embassy and when I appeared for an interview. whiteMandingo: |
So I got my parcel delivered today. My passport and all the documents sent to the embassy returned intact. However, there was a white paper inserted that I was refused under 221 (g) and that I should login to my profile and select a date for an in-person interview on the calender. This isnt a problem and I think they returned it back because I wrote on the cover letter that I would be visiting the UK soon before the visa expires later this month. I even included a copy of the round trip ticket as evidence of a pending trip. I'm only wondering if they checked those documents at all as everything was returned intact including the cover letter. |

Update! I got an email and a text from UPS that a parcel containing my passport is already on its way. Status remains "refused" on the NIV website when I tracked again this afternoon. For those who were outrightly refused without any advise for a follow up interview, was it "refused" or "denied" on the NIV website? Any input would be appreciated. |
@lalasun were you asked to come for an interview at the embassy after you picked up your passport at DHL? lalasun: |
@Payati & Klebsiella Go back to the usatraveldocs website, select book an appointment, login and answer the interview waiver questions regarding when your visa expired, whether you are applying for the same category and from the same location, etc. After answering those questions, the system will determine if you qualify for the IW and ask you to accept it then proceed. It won't take you to where you are supposed to choose a date on the calender. Log out and start all over from the website, if possible, clear your browser history and cache. Klebsiella: |

@puffmama when I applied the first time under the IW category, I received an email after 3 weeks that I should login to my cgi account and accept the date they chose for me for an in-person interview. I went as scheduled and refused and was told I could always reapply and given back my passport at the embassy. If it was successful, they would have kept it and sent it back via courier (which was paid for at the time of making the visa fee/interview waiver payment online via paypal) after the visa had been issued as they did twice in the past. So I reapplied under the IW category as there is no limit to the number of times you can reapply because I felt I have a case to make and I paid the fees again and mailed in the DS160, interview waiver and all other supporting documents and a cover letter (which I did not include the first time as I had no reason to believe I would be denied) to prove my case, in a mail-in carton as advised on their website so the passport won't get damaged in transit. So if I am refused, it would be returned by courier and if not, maybe I would be scheduled for another in-person interview to prove my case. But whatever it is, only time would tell. So, I am just keeping my fingers crossed. |
Yes, I was initially refused after I sent in my documents for the IW and got an email to login and accept the interview set for me but this was 3 weeks after my documents were delivered by courier. However, I got wind of how to track here on Nairaland and that was what I used to track yesterday even though its just 2 weeks today. I will wait and see what happens next but if will be interviewed in person again, they won't send my passport back until I attend the interview. If its outright refusal, I will get my passport back in the mail pretty soon. Thanks for the contribution. |
@lalasun this is the same thing I saw when I tracked mine today. I think there would be a follow-up personal interview but not sure so I posted here for gurus in the house to help interpret it if its a final decision or not. |
Drop box (IW). Sent in my passport and supporting documents by mail in a mailing carton to the US Consulate in Frankfurt. |
Hi everyone, So I applied for the renewal of my B1/B2 visa and was initially refused after I was scheduled for an interview. I reapplied again after a few days and I explained some of the things I did not mention in my previous application such as owning a registered business, properties and being a professional. I included my business registration documents, property documents, corporate bank account and a cover letter from the bank to prove that I am the only signatory to the said account in addition to a 2-page cover letter explaining my circumstances and links to CAC and NBA's websites to confirm the existence of my business and my membership of the legal profession. I also included 7 family pictures, all printed on an A4 paper when I mailed over the documents to the US consulate. I checked this afternoon and saw "Refused" on the status and it was updated today. I also saw this on that page: "A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or the website for the Embassy or Consulate at which you made your visa application". Does it mean one could be refused and still be called for an interview to clarify certain things or one could be refused pending verification of some of the supporting documents I submitted? Thanks in anticipation. |
Please how can I get the Application ID or Case Number? Is it the same thing as the confirmation number on the DS 160 form submitted? Dampops: |
Sure! I just wanted to share with the house incase someone else in the past has a similar experience as it relates to how successful appeals are communicated to appellants. We already furnished overwhelming documentary evidence in the appeal that nobody is absconding. We will reapply if we don't receive another letter in the mail. Just waiting for when first timers are being granted visas as it appears they are only issuing visas to frequent travelers at the moment. Thanks for your contribution sir....most obliged! mialate: |
I'm afraid I don't think so. The acknowledgment letter was sent out 4 days after the appeal was delivered and the acknowledgement letter states if we dont hear from them after 2 months of receipt of the appeal. It appears the result of the appeal would be communicated separately if it is successful and if we dont hear within the specified period of 2 months, it means it was rejected...two separate things entirely. The acknowledgemnt letter itself took almost 2 months and 2 weeks to be delivered to us and I suppose it would take a while for the matter to be adjudicated upon and not within 4 days. Whether the appeal was successful or not is yet to be known but an acknowledgement letter does not mean a rejection letter as it would have been clearly communicated in the letter that it has been rejected. mialate: |
Good day everyone, So my family were denied France tourist visas last November and we decided to appeal the decision and sent the appeal and the supporting documents to France last December. Today we got a letter from France acknowledging the receipt of our appeal and part of the letter after translation reads: "In the absence of an express response from the commission within a period of two months from the date of receipt of the appeal mentioned above, the appeal is deemed to be rejected for the same reasons as those of the contested decision". The appeal was received in France on December 17 and the letter we received today was dated December 21, 2021. Can anyone who has gone through this process before enlighten me more on this? Is this a good sign? Should we expect another letter in the mail or can we just simply go ahead and reapply whenever we are ready to give it a shot? Your responses would be highly appreciated. |
Good morning everyone, Please, I need the contact of anyone at CAC Abuja as my company is showing "INACTIVE" when checked on CAC's website. Any information on this would help. |
Any word from the embassy on your visa application? abnice2004: |
Well said. @poster, you are good to go. Just get the travel health insurance before you go for the submission as it’s an important document that MUST be presented as well. I used Allianz and a soft copy was sent to me after registration and payment online. Good luck! rebless: |
