Why does the sheik think she is being influenced? The woman just spoke her mind and what she has observed. It is left for posterity to judge all involved. Meanwhile, it seems the northern leaders don't know that their words should be guided, i read about the other girl that was abducted and married by the Emir of Katsina and the response of the emirate. It was really mind boggling that a respected council of elders will openly support such an anomaly. This country needs serious help! |

ABEngine: If you sincerely desire a honest input I would advise they part ways.
Get me right, you don't have to mortgage the health of the unborn for the sake of love and faith. This issue is not one to gamble with even if you can handle the costs associated therein.
If conclusive tests have found both partners to be carriers then such a union is not a worthwhile venture.
I am speaking from the point of view of one sympathetic to the sickle cell cause and having lost one at infancy whilst having another still living is similar to walking blind on mine fields.
They both have to understand this quite clearly if they choose to continue with the relationship. It is not a matter of chromosomes, infact it's not an equivalent of selecting the sex of the child.
I can't express the trauma we all go through during a bout of crisis, you don't even need to imagine how difficult it is to obtain screened blood or donors nor the pains accompanying the body's readjustment to a successful transfusion.
I warn sternly about this. God can do all things but kindly don't tempt Him. Op pls take this advice. You do not want a sickle cell child. The trauma you will pass through is heart wrenching, as you will keep seeing your child in pain. The child may end up blaming you for everything. SS is NOT funny. Don't be blinded by love. Let's not even start with things that could go wrong from having continuous blood transfusions. |

PaulIdu: I can't blame any party here because from experience I know 99 percent of Nigerian women marry to take financial burden of their parent and alleviate any small poverty disturbing them , so when the factor that joined them in marriage in the first place is missing they immediate cut rope and tend to move on ..My advise to men is to know the reason why a girl has agreed to marry you, is it because of your job, your looks, your temperament, your ambition or just to prove a point that she can get married.. marry a girl that loves you for no reason and make sure you love her deeply just for that reason .. Did you carry out a survey before arriving at 99%? Lets be careful how we generalize because you definitely haven't met that number of women. |

The rate of incest in Nigeria is alarming. Until the government make laws and implement them, this will continue. Scapegoats are really needed so as to dissuade others. Most importantly, mothers should be very alert and protective of their children, both male and female. |

I am someone that prays and God answers but when he becomes silent about any matter, i know it's because he has a reason and when he eventually does, i am always in awe! |
