Christianity Etc › Re: Another Nigerian Pastor Involved In A Scam (Sunday Adelaja) by essentialone(m): 5:51am On Jul 04, 2022 |
iReport: Ukraine-based Nigerian pastor in fraud charges
EZRA IJIOMA
Pastor Sunday Adelaja, left, prays with parishioners before delivering his sermon at a service in Sacramento, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007. Flambouyant Nigerian pastor and apparently Ukraine’s most prominent Pentecostal leader, Sunday Adelaja, has been indicted on fraud charges. Pastor Adelaja is the senior pastor of the largest church in the Ukraine, "The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations, Kiev."
https://nigeriaworld.com/images/news/big/international/nigerian/ukraine/pastor-sunday-adelaja.jpg
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has accused him of defrauding citizens of money, the ministry’s Department for Media Liaison and International Activity said. Sunday Champion gathered that the amount is over $100m.
"The investigator has brought charges against Nigerian citizen Sunday Adelaja, who permanently resides in Ukraine and is a senior pastor at the Embassy of God church. The charges were brought under Part 4, Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (the embezzlement of funds in very large amounts via fraud)," the ministry said.
Last month, several church members went to authorities saying they were unable to recover the money they invested, which left many of them bankrupt. Police later arrested one of King’s Capital leaders, Aleksandr Bandurchenko, on suspicion of fraud.
Speculation about Adelaja’s involvement with King’s Capital grew after reports surfaced that he was part of a bank in Nigeria known as GS Microfinance Bank Limited. Some speculated that Adelaja, a native of Nigeria, invested funds from King’s Capital in the African bank and planned to leave the country.
Adelaja, however, said those accusations are unfounded. He said he has never been involved with King’s Capital but denied that it is a Ponzi scheme, which uses later investments to pay dividends to earlier investors.
He said King’s Capital was a legitimate business that failed under the pressure of the global financial crisis. He said because the company poured most of the investment capital into real estate, which decreased in value, it has been unable to pay investors.
"When the economic crisis came, all the real estate is no more selling. The land is enough to pay back the money owed. , The problem is , everything is stopped in the country--nothing is selling now in Ukraine,’’ he said.
Adelaja said Interior Affairs Minister Yurii Lutsenko accused the church of involvement because he wants to undermine the evangelical movement in Ukraine. With several thousand members across the nation, God’s Embassy is one of the most influential congregations in Ukraine.
"(Lutsenko) is in a very bad situation," Adelaja said. "He’s got to prove now that (King’s Capital) is a pyramid scheme, but he cannot."
Adelaja said he never encouraged his church members to invest in the company and cautioned them to invest in businesses that offer insurance. "Of course , if you invest with insurance you get less percentage," he said. "What happened was many people said they didn’t need insurance because the (King’s Capital leaders) were Christians."
He acknowledged being affiliated with GS Microfinance, but said he invested his name and influence in the bank, not millions of dollars. He said GS Microfinance was formed to give small loans to poor Nigerians as a way of lifting them out of poverty. "It’s not about what you can get, but the vision of the program is to elevate and get as many people out of poverty as possible," Adelaja said. "That is one of my lifetime passions , because I grew up in poverty."
Although Adelaja has repeatedly denied any involvement in King’s Capital, which has not officially been deemed a fraudulent business, Pentecostal and charismatic leaders across Ukraine are calling on him to repent, saying they heard him encourage church members to invest in the company on several occasions.
"He was not a president of this company, but he was the No. 1 spiritual leader, and he told them what they have to do," said Bishop M. S.Panochko, leader of the All-Ukrainian Union of Pentecostal Churches of Evangelical Faith, which is comprised of 1,500 churches across the nation. "He can do everything to tell them that he is not involved, but all the leaders have a lot of facts, and we have a lot of video of when he was pushing people, and he encouraged people to invest in this business."
Panochko was one of 10 leaders who met with Adelaja last Tuesday to confront him about his alleged support of King’s Capital and the negative impact some of his actions have had on the evangelical church in Ukraine.
The Pentecostal bishops, who together represent more than 2,500 congregations, listed seven items of concern and said Adelaja has a pattern of making exaggerated statements. They pointed particularly to his alleged claim that he led the 2004 Orange Revolution--when Ukrainian voters protested a presidential election many considered fraudulent--and his reports that God’s Embassy has 100,000 members across the nation. The bishops say those and other statements are untrue.
After the meeting, Adelaja issued a statement saying he did not organize the Orange Revolution, though his congregation participated in the demonstrations. He also asked forgiveness for the negative impact the King’s Capital scandal has had on Ukrainian churches, but he added that he did not personally have any involvement in the company.
Despite the statement, Panochko said the bishops would continue waiting for Adelaja to apologize for allegedly endorsing King’s Capital. If he does not repent, Panochko said the bishops would issue a statement to Christians in Ukraine and abroad, and to the Ukrainian government, denouncing Adelaja and claiming no affiliation with him.
Moscow-based pastor Rick Renner, founder of the Good News Association of Churches and Ministries for Russia, Latvia and Ukraine, said Adelaja’s claims are hurting Christians in the former Soviet Union.
If convicted, Adelaja may spend up to 12 years in imprisonment, according to Part 4, Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Today during service this visiting pastor from Nigeria asked all of us to bring out the highest currency denomination we have with us so that we can prophesy on it, after we have finished prophesying that the money in our hand will start working for us, I was surprised when he asked us to place it on the alter for him, everyone did, as I was on my way to drop my money which I have replace with a lower currency denomination, the Lord quickly reminded me this is another con and I quickly went back to my seat with out dropping my money for this con pastor. These pastors are getting more desperate.
On getting back home from this church where this SCAM took place, someone I have not spoken to for a while came and told me that I can reclaim the payment protection insurance I took out some years back which is a large sum of money. Now do you all see how satan works, if I had handed over the highest currency denomination to this FALSE pastor then satan would have made me believe that, this SCAM was the reason someone came to tell me I can claim back this large sum of money.
I pray the Lord will open the minds of all those that these FALSE pastors are deceiving so that they can be set free.

Can any church confidently open their financial books publicly or atleast to their church members, let's know why we keep donating to them instead of the people who really need the help. Many people will never see reason with this, because they have been completely brainwashed by manipulative religious leaders and scare of a phantom wrath. 80% of Christianity in Nigeria is Just business. Religion is not Spirituality. If we are so religious in Nigeria, how come corruption elope the whole Nation (from the lowest citizens to the highest Govt positions). How come there is stagnation in our development. How come the poor keep increasing. Christian mothers paying for Special centres for their lads. Christianity Etc › Re: Why Your Church's General Overseer Is Scamming You by essentialone(m): 5:43am On Jul 04, 2022 |
WORLDPEACE: The world is obsessed with ranking things. I must confess I am guilty of it too. All over the internet, there are all kinds of rankings called top this and top that. You’ll see Top 20 most beautiful musicians, top 20 richest athletes, Top 1000 Universities by webometrics and so on. What I find perplexing, however, is that Nigerians hardly top any of these lists except that of the richest pastors. Our musicians are not there among the world’s richest. Neither are our Sportsmen and women, actors and Entrepreneurs. On the world's 20 richest pastors list we have at least five Nigerians. I find this fact difficult to process. Why does a nation as poor as ours have the world's richest pastors? Does Nigeria have more Christians than other nations? The answer is NO, we don't. Below are countries with the highest Christian population from the most populous to the least populous. 1. USA 247.78 million 2. Russia195.77 million 3 Brazil 178.70 million 4. Mexico 107.80 million 5.Philippines 90.53 million 6. Nigeria 80.28 million 7. Congo 68.56 million 8.China 67.10 million 9.Ethiopia 55.01 million 10. Italy 54.15 million
Five of the countries on this list have more Christians than Nigeria. And their citizens are averagely richer too. According to available statistics the average churchgoers in these countries make more money than their Nigerian counterparts, yet their pastors are still not as wealthy as ours. Perhaps God has a soft spot for Nigerian Christians? Well, if he does, why then is he not also showering his blessings on church goers? When God blessed Solomon materially did he not also extend it to the whole of Israel? The explanation to this is quite simple. Perhaps it is lurking somewhere in your subconscious because you are afraid to think it out to yourself. Let me put it out there in black and white. OUR PASTORS ARE CORRUPT CRIMINALS! You probably suspected I was going to say this. And yes, I have. We are a corrupt society. We have corrupt politicians, corrupt judges, corrupt police force, corrupt army, corrupt university lecturers; and your precious General overseer, Pastor, Apostle or whatever appellation he prefers is not exempt. You find it easy to accept that the others mentioned are corrupt but not your pastor who is dominating the world's top 20 with his compatriots? You don't believe he is corrupt even when he shows up on Panama papers having discrete investments worth millions of dollars? Do you feel the same way about the politicians who were also in that leaked document? Just remember that both your pastors and politicians minister to the people, and while the politicians manage taxes the pastors manage tithe. While the people remain in abject poverty, these religious and political ministers own private jets. And both of these two groups have individuals who own investments in discrete tax havens. Only a mind imprisoned by the commitment to protect any of these groups would not draw the conclusion that they are criminals. With the help of God’s word and your money a private jet in the sky is just a stepping stone.
Why is your pastor scamming you? I will answer that like the Nigerian I am- they say we love to answer questions with questions. Why do police men take bribe? Why are your politicians stealing tax payer’s money? Why are there thousands of young Nigerians on the internet scamming people? The answer is BECAUSE THEY CAN. Why did people sell their fellow humans in the trans-Atlantic slave trade? Why did kings sell their subjects for a bottle of dry gin while the subjects still believed that their kings had a mandate from the gods? Why did our colonial masters colonize other countries and used their resources to develop theirs? It is because they could. The answer is that simple. Your pastors are good at what they do and it is rewarding.
People tend to make careers out of anything they are good at if they think there are no repercussions. Did you say there are repercussions from God? That exactly is the problem, the loophole exploited by “Men of God”. Church goers assume that their pastors actually believe all the things they preach from the pulpit. They underestimate the power that mastery of anything has on an individual. Whatever we do well and are rewarded and appreciated for we keep doing. We humans have a need for integrity, honesty and sound morals, but we also love to do what we are good at even if for some of us that means exploiting others.
For your greedy pastor, just like our slave trading pre-colonial rulers, it is even easier because they are respected for it. You made it easy for the heavenly man of God to take your earthly money because whenever that voice that tells you to scrutinize the way of life of this man comes into your mind you quickly stop yourself with your favorite scripture: "do not judge". Pastors have quoted it countless number of times and your christian brothers repeated it so much that you have it playing in a loop in your head. Do not be trapped by a technique that has been used for ages to stop people from thinking. He is misapplying the bible verse. If the same bible says "by their fruit ye shall know them" it means you can use the sense that God gave you to judge if your pastor is just a fraudster who is good with the scriptures. What you cannot do is judge who is going to perish because that right belongs to God exclusively. Do not let Charlatans enrich themselves at your own expense. Do not let anyone make you work for a heavenly reward while he is an earthly billionaire. What is he doing with all that money if heaven is the ultimate goal anyway?
If a Poor man starts an NGO funded by donations from people and he becomes a billionaire in a decade or two, won't you as a donor be interested in how he became a billionaire? Would you not want to know how the money you have been donating is being spent? Why then do you always handle religious leaders with kid gloves? Do you know that churches are like NGOs and a pastor can go to jail for embezzling church funds? Why are his European counterparts not living in the same opulence? It is not because they are holier but because their church members won't appreciate it. Why then are you such easy game?
Nigerian pastors are wealthy and there is nothing mysterious or divine about it. It has to do with the kind of brands they have created. They insist on the payment of tithe. "Pay your tithe or things will be tight for you". Poor attempt at a play on words, but you believe it. Many of you skip church when you have no offering money. Don't deny it, you do. Everyday prosperity, prosperity, prosperity. He shows off with your own money and instead of being put off, you part with more of your money. Afterall, if God has blessed the man of God for being faithful he will reward your faithfulness too. God did not bless him. You did.
We Nigerians are numb to corruption, so when we see it, we are not affected by it, especially when we see it in the man of God. The bible says that God is not partial and that God cannot lie. I believe it. So God does not love Nigerian pastors more. Statisticians say numbers don't lie. I also believe this. The kind of money our pastors have and the financial situation of church goers don't add up. God cannot love Nigerian pastors more than he loves other pastors in the world. Your pastor's success is all a result of your love for him, not God's. So, continue to praise the Lord and pass the collection plate! Pastor needs a new pair of everything!
