imperiouxx: That's no problem. Who sponsors your schooling is what they need. Once you've that person's acc statement, you're free to go, even if your landlord would be paying for your trip out of generosity.

Please guys a quick one. on d DS form i filled a different name for who is paying for my trip but presently i do not have the person's statement of acc because he is not available presently, but have another of my family's acc statemet as a sponsor. My interview is tomoro, pls if i am asked y they are two diff pple wat is best to say?

bigfrancis21: You'll have to pay another visa fee. Aww...you should have called them on that day, july 8 to reschedule your interview. The payment is just for one slot and once that day passes, the mrv fee record gets wiped off their system. Meaning that you cannot use it again after your interview date passes even if you missed your interview.

Just go and pay another one.

Please house a quick one. I was suppose to go to for my interview on the 8th of july, but i deffered my admission to fall and couldnt cancel the appointment but i did not appear at the embassy. Now i want to book for another appointment is the visa application fee still valid or do i need to pay for new visa fee?

Good day, Please i want to confirm if the visa appointment confirmation to take to the embassy is to be printed from the mail they sent after successfully booking. I printed mine from my yahoomail so it has yahoo on the printed copy is there a problem with that? Secondly, pls can you help me list out the major things to take along for student visa interview. lisadem: Don't fret. I don't think there's a part that asks for sponsor on the ds-160 form. The only question that's close to it is where you are asked the name of the person that will paying for your flight. Or is this what many consider as the sponsor? I stand to be corrected.

OK kool then. i just wanted to be sure because my 1-20 form states family funds and it was my brothers statement i used for the application, now i want to use an uncle with a more bouyant financial statement so i just dont want to mess things up thats y i tot of clarifying myself. Thank you

Can a submitted ds form still be accessed online? i cannot recall what i filled for my sponsor if it was brother or uncle. Can anyone remember if their is any thing like brother on d ds form? Better still can anyone recall the options for sponsor on the ds form? If yes please spell it out

annoymous: lolz. just kidding. I didn't see any Chinko lady. interview was in Lagos. appointment was for 10.30. got to the embassy around 8 and immediately joined the queue. after like 30 mins I was bounced as they had not called 10.30 interviewees yet. anyways, eventually got in and overheard a few funny interviews. a couple had stamped fake Turkish visas onto their passports to give the VO the impression that they had travelled out before and were nabbed, and banned from ever entering the USA. this is how my interview went

VO - (with a wide grin) Good afternoon
me - good afternoon
VO - pls pass your documents
VO - why are you going to the US
me - I'm going to study for a masters degree in Public health
VO - why public health
me - most of the diseases that affect us are largely preventable diseases like malaria blah blah
VO - okay. what school
me - Harvard University
VO- why did you choose Harvard?
me - (lyk srzly?) it was a very easy decision for me
VO - (started laughing uncontrollably and gave me thumbs up) I feel you (something like that, can't remember for certain - that was the high point of my interview)
VO - did you do GRE
me - yes (didn't ask for my score)
VO - did you apply to other schools
me - yes
VO - how do u plan to pay for your masters
me - I got a loan from the school and my father will cover the shortfall
VO - what does your father do?
me - told her
VO - what university did you finish from
me - told her
VO - what course
me - told her
VO - what are the other schools you applied to?
me - told her all the other schools. she didn't ask for accepts or rejects
VO - pick up your visa on Thursday blah blah. and good luck at Harvard.
me - thank you

she didn't request to see any documents. and she was even telling a lot of interviewees that she didn't need the documents when they extended dem without her prompting

Kunsoft: You can according to Biggy BUT i will advice to always have atleast 1 or 2m Excess. Because that was what i thought but it did not work for me when the VO ask if my sponsor is married and i said yes. i actually red her hands on the keyboard as she was typing but immediately i said Yes he is married she begin to backspace what she wrote before and re-type that was when i knew something is wrong. she feels my sponsor will have a responsibility so while will he spend all he has to sponsor me. what about his wife?.

my tuition was 20k dollars when the interview time approach the account has drop to 2.4m so i added about 13k dollars statment with and i stil got delay. i was told point blank that is because of the statement. so think very well the VOs that are on counter this month are good people. once you meet requirement they give you what belongs to you.

thank you for your advice. What if as at April, the account has the exact fee on the 1-20 can i print from that date to the last 6months?

bigfrancis21: You see baa, its not a must you print the bank statement to the very last day which is the current day of printing. If at any time in your uncle's statement history, say within the past few weeks, his account balance was equal to or greater than the amount your school wants to see, you tell the bank officer to start printing from 6 months before and stop on that day, say May 25 2013. The statement will reflect that amount you want to see as the last entry and it will be the closing balance, thus reflecting the required sum. Hope that's understood?

If your uncle doesn't happen to have that sum in his history or in any recent time in his history (the required balance in history must be a recent one cos if he once had the required balance but that was early last year, you still cannot use it because of the time gap) then you can change sponsor to any other uncle or aunt who has the required funds or once had the required funds at any time recently in history. This recently should be like 3 months back. So if your current uncle or new uncle/aunt had the required balance on ,say, april 30, then the bank official can print from april 30 to 3 or 6 months back. The 3 or 6 months depends on the how many months your school wants.

And finally, you must only go with a family member's statement and never a company statement since your I-20 indicates family funds. Doing otherwise will lead to your denial unless a miracle happens.

yes i mean a personal statement. I cant try using my company's statement because it was family fund that was indicated. ok pls am trying to get something clear here, if i still want to make use of the same sponspor's statement doesnt it mean the last date on the statement must be the equivalent of the tuition fee stated on my 1-20 form?

Please am new to this thread. MY interview is schedule for next month. I contacted my sponsor for the statement of account and he said he doesnt have a closing balance of the stated amount presently. Please d big question is this: Must the statement of account end in june and does it mean the last date on the statement of account must have a balance of at least the tuition figure quoted on your 1-20 form? if need be can i change my sponspor to be on a safer side because on my 1-20 form its stated family fund. please help me out.
