I dont blame Nigerian Doctors on this one. Who wants their profession stained by mediocrity and unthoughtfulness.

Am I the only one who noticed the uncouth ways of the so -called pharmacists on this forum. It is a big shame. The likes of you should not ever get close to OUR patients.

there is one bitter truth i have not reminded u,the primary point of call for patients is the pharmacy/ drug store. then the secondary is the hospital. the days where doctors are supreme is over, patients now even tell u the drugs they want and the form in which it wud work for them.am so sorry but if u entered the proffession for pride ,dont u think u need to reconsider and think twice.times are hard. the average Nigerian, wud walk into a drug store and describe heaven and earth to the person INCHARGE,and the patient gets well.while u sit in ur lofty chair, in ur starched weak tucked in shirts and trousers,perform 2 surgery a day and u get to share it with the landlord of the building and ur employees.
let me leave you with this foot note. we are the heart beat of the health sector and we know it. weda we attach doctor to our name or engr, gcfrn, oon,ceo ,call it wat ever name u wish.accord us the maximum respect if you need yours, thank you.

pennyfoolish, is that u. i made one worst mistake, which was to count you among those that are wise,seriously i regret it. successful doctors dont even have time to check who is using their tag to impersonate.the real big boys in ur proffession are busy making it and saving lives everyday and u are here looking for who has used Dr in their name. u are such a disgrace to ur immediate family, extended family and ur community that ever believed in you . such a collosal waste of funds and resources.A failed investment. am sorry but the truth must be said.
My candid advice is to look for a career counsellor and open up to him/her that u dont know where u are heading with this path u choose.its easy ,just make up ur mind. guess i have said my mind,pls if u wud excuse me i have patients to attend to.

nobilis: Everyone in the health sector is clamoring for more interaction with the patients. Everybody in the health sector wants to be more in touch with patients. Most of them use the phrase: "for better patient care and management" to cover up the greed behind their desires.

The nurses want to be consultants who will be meting out patient care tips to patients who come to the hospitals. And I ask: what should the medical doctor be doing?
The lab scientist wants to be in total charge of hospital laboratory services. And I ask: what then is the role of the clinical pathologist?
The pharmacist wants to be the one prescribing medications and advising patients on which drugs to take and which to avoid. And I ask: what should the doctor be doing?
The radiographer wants to be in total charge of hospital radiology departments. And I ask: what should the radiologist be doing?

I'm asking these because those countries that these people cite as examples still have medical doctors whose work is well-known and respected.

If a doctor spend all these years in school and come out yet does nt know wat he/ she shud be doing then he/she shud go and collect all the school fees he / she paid from primary to university and even sue them for time wasting cos he or she have not gained anything from them.they all decieved d person and dey are fraudsters.

I think we all have a full house here as one profession, as we celebrate ourselves, lets us look at one primary issue dat solves all other issue, I call it the mother solution.
Why cant we be in peace with our fellow pharmacist.I believe most of us are still in pharmacy school thats why we are celebrating ur selves now. It pains me that at the national level, we still go there and can not be our brother keepers. Look at our antagonisers, its their unity that they kept for so long that the younger generation are enjoying. I am out of school and I know wat I saw when I went national. I always preach unity any pans meeting I am invited to talk.that is the mother of all solution.

Hahahaha, I laugh in greek. One day pharmacist and pharmacy wud go on strike like as u do and u wud see the importance of us. We the heart beat in the health care sector, have u imagine a day where no drug store neither wud the companies open.imagine how it wud look like, after doing ur guess work diagnosis and then u sit and encourage the patient to go and pray. Respect is reciprocal and when u dont give it u wud never recieve it. Learn to give one.

The health sector has been monopolized by other proffession over stepping their boundaries and doing wat there are nt suppose to do. Pharmacist are suppose to be incharge of drugs and d efficient and safe useage of drugs.but only few get to actually do dat in d hospital, dey only dispense wat the doctor has written. Become stereotyped and stagnant in growth. Yea community pharmacy is d most lucrative part of d proffession I wud nt fail to tell u this, other part are also lucrative but it depends on how u brand ur self.

Pennywise: I have no wish to burst your bubble. But to all the aspiring pharmD and second rate intellectually bereft pharmacists on this thread who feel they are nothing without a doctor tag I am afraid u will forever remain nothing. U cannot be redeemed.

The NUC will have no choice but to do the right thing. The concession that was extracted in the dark has come to light and a lot of interested parties are going to weigh in this time.

Undergraduate PharmD is an abuse to the doctor tag. If u are a pharmacist who want to be called doctor, get a PHD or a post graduate pharmD. Everybody cannot be a doctor full stop.

A doctor tag cannot clean the rot and intellectual decay among so called pharmacists. The decay that has made them abandon what in other climes is a noble and respectable profession preferring to hire out certificates to illiterates for a fee so that drug stores may be called pharmacies.

I am unaware of any serious drug compounding company local or international that will depend on Nigerian pharmacists. They are brought from without.

Its a pity pharmacy no longer attract the best and brightest but only mediocres as I have seen on this thread. What a shame. Sadly you want to take that same mediocrity to a different profession when u are not fit enough to be pharmacists

A proffessor of pharmacy tries to remove the wool in their eye, but they believe he is doing that bc he doesnt want them to be called 'Dr'. An obvious result of low self esteem.

I just hope and pray that the crowd I have seen here is not a true reflection of today's pharmacists. Your language is poor and unbecoming, grammer is offensive and diction leaves much to be desired.

So in ur proffession, there is no quack doctors abi, do u know how many I encounter everyday, when there is emergency they all go into hidding. From the look of this, I dnt think u have graduated,let me guess, u shud be writting ur first mb. My advice u shud go and study hard. And leave the politics of the health sector until when u are old enough. Kapish

le bien connu: Going by the extant rivalry between the pharmacists and the doctors in Nigeria I would say the pharmacists should just concentrate on the drugs and leave the patients to the doctors. Two drivers cannot drive the same bus at the same time. At least for peace to reign.

do you know how many mistakes a doctor wud make a day, it cant amount to more than 2 loss of lives a day. but if a pharmacist makes a simple error, it wud amount to more than 10 loss of lives. pharmacist can not just concentrate on drugs alone cos after producing the drugs we cant watch its abuse so we are there to make sure that the drugs are given correctly in the most efficient way, with the proper dosing and in the right dosage form.

nagoma: The "wannabe Doctors" are desperate . Pharmacists , Optometrists and even ambulance drivers want to be referred to as Docrors and they refuse to go through medical school. The confusion in Nigeria's health-care continues as we copy blindly from America.

In advanced countries where things are done orderly.pharmacist are the most important person in d health sector. No body is taking the doctor's role as d chief in d hoSpital but after all the diagnosis,d pharmacist determines how d drug shud be taken and if the drug wud be taken at all by counselling.well hard life in niger has abused everytin.
