DictatorZAR:
Your ATR is not an AWEACS plane. What anti submarine aircraft do you have. Your ATR don't have sonar nor does your navy Lynx. You can't even protect your small 800km coastline and your waterways/creeks and maritime controlled areas are rated the worst piracy hotspot today even worse then Somalia.
Citations please
Our ATR is an ISTAR,AWACS,MPA and SIGINT aircraft: only two of its kind in Africa.
Our Eurocopters are very capable of carrying out anti-submarine warfare(ASW),and even OTH targetting.
Post citation to prove your claim that we cant protect our 853km coastline and that our waterways are the "hotspot" of piracy.

#Sinking NA Navy
Sinking to where?
NN has the highest number of high endurance OPVs in Africa,at least 70% of them are confirmed active; and we are currently building more combat vessels in the dockyard.
We have sophisticated AEWACS and anti submarine aircrafts on constant aerial surveillance of our territorial waters.
We arent sinking anywhere anytime soon.

Nigeria has over half of its fleet broken down.
It was just an exaggerated sob story made-up by the CNS to ganner improved funding for the navy from the parliament.
It happens all the time in every organized military force.Even in the US,military chiefs are always prone to raising alarm and "alerting" their congress of "serious threat posed to national security" by even the most blatantly inferior rival technology, just to ganner more fund for military procurement.
Our navy is still very much capable of protecting the gulf of guinea: from Angola to Senegal.

I have watched many commentators thoroughly rubbish your claims of "planning to get" 100km BVR missiles, why do you insist on clinging to the unfeasible prospect of a paper project?

I really don't know why NAF didn't conduct an Air strike in Yobe just Borno........
I think the military is trying as regards cutting off their resources...at least no more incessant attacks again, like this time last year it was almost on a daily basis..
Their End Is Near..
Indeed,their end is near.

Wow,,That's a good approach to solving our problems,,What do you think about operation Lafia Dole and their operations??Do you think they will meet the 3mnths Deadline??
BH has a communication medium,,Their quick response to Chad's President assertions made me wonder how they heard,,How they upload their videos..In one of their last attacks they even destroyed tele-communication networks...
Angola is actually a match For us,They've won it 11× and they are 1st in Africa while we are 3rd
The deadline was a political statement by PMB; it is realistically improbable that the military will completely wipe out BH by november,we simply do not have the sufficient amount of platforms and logistics to destroy every single BH member.
However,we will have degraded them significantly by then, they will be reduced to carrying out isolated attacks, infact, suicide bombing will become quite rare because all of their resources will be cut off.
what is angola?,naija all the way!!

I know that confronting them is the best...BUT we have a lot of work to do in our military before thinking about that..We are looking at long period of time and by that time ISIS will have become Sovereign and Internecine ,and the war will be a More Complex and Complicated one in which Africa will be left with no other option but to Fight Back...
I think you should Google BH,,I wonder who updates WIKI...
So many Not-so-Funny things I have been reading about BH
By the time we are ready,ISIS may have already spread its roots too deep into northern africa.
My point is that we should have been ready right from the beginning of this scourge, not running helter skelter being kicked around like a bunch of slobbering hounds in the raging tempest of international politics.Any nation that deliberately weakens its military,is eroding its own sovereignity.

I think where Chad's president Got his clue of BH sucessor was from the suicide bombers they caught maybe after torturing them But the President's Next step was not intelligent by going to the media and saying things he's not sure of..The next day BH uploaded a video calling him a hypocrite..

ISIS is sophisticated.... It would be a wrong move because we'll be crossing a lot of Boundaries and stepping on Big Toes like The govt. of Libya,,Uncle AI(amnesty International)))....It could even become more of a disaster to us because they would leave Libya and Face Nig.....Those people are Brutal...
If we remain hiding under our beds while ISIS take over Libya, you think we will be safe?.Once they take over Libya, there may never be an end to islamic terrorism in Africa.
What the world thinks is that Arab discrimination against black people will prevent any close ties between ISIS and radical black muslims, but this theory could be wrong.

Operation Lafia Dole actually acted Swiftly I hope they can still work harder because its not about killing those who Come out to Attack But their central head/leader.. No clues at all we are not sure if he's dead or Alive...
CONGRATULATIONS we are the new Afrobasket Champions
Indeed..I think the CAS and COAS need to up the ante not only on the 'propaganda' front, but also in procuring hi-tech military hardware in order to properly degrade all of BH enclaves at home and abroad. Also,we need to seriously update our TRADOC to harmonize all forms of modern COIN and coventional training gathered from Russia,Israel,America and PMCs; lastly,we need a comprehensive tactical approach in tackling BH movements and all other scenarios of terrorist attack.
Was there ever any doubt that we would win 2015 afrobasket?,Angola was never a match for us.

But Chad's president Knows Shekau's successor.. We still have to kill that one too
The so called Mohammad Daoud may or may not be a myth.We simply cannot rely on the ramblings of Idris Deby,Chad barely has a coherent intelligence service.
But on a national scale, our airforce should have been able to degrade all of BH's structures, logistics and supplies from the beginning.
Utilizing platforms capable of launching surgical airstrikes against BH leaders in their enclaves should be a top priority to the NAF.
Africa axis of terror is centred in Libya, yet we do not have the necessary air power to conduct sustained barrages of airstrikes in Libya{which will eventually become inevitable}.Ideally, the NAF's response to ISIS-BH alliance should have been 3-10 days of coordinated airstrikes against ISIS positions in Libya,in order to tell them{ISIS} that they have just made a wrong decision.

Yes, recently, they are laying low and no more incessant attacks like before But I hope they are not trying to plan something stupid Because in their last video They were calling people to help them fight..Who knows what their next move will be?
Well, THERE IS A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN

Kudos to the Nigerian Army
It seems that a bulk of their trained fighters have moved out of the country to assist ISIS in Libya; others may have fled Nigeria to Chad or Sudan.
What remains are disjointed groups of starved bandits carrying out isolated attacks.
Though,it appears that the main central command is still functional, but its capacity has been seriously degraded,it have lost control over a huge percentage of its fighters due to mutiny against high-handed foreign {non-nigerian} "Amirs" and general discontent over lack of basic supplies.
Nevertheless,as long as they still have a coordinated central command, they still remain highly dangerous.

"DHQ is authorized to release military engagement"

Do you think DHQ can ever have the guts to release such an embarrassment on their reports?
Another reason to doubt the video; if the video were genuine, wouldnt the DHQ have destroyed the video or classified it to prevent negative evidence from filtering to the public?.
CONCLUSION: The video is a dupe.

Where did he make any such "confession"?,he spoke in pidgin english throughout the "interview",are you now an expert of pidgin english language?.
There was no "massive firepower" involved; Baga was manned by barely a handful Nigerian soldiers, while the nigeriens and chadians ran away leaving only few brave men to man such are sprawling border.Nigerian soldiers werent overpowered, they withdrew from the area like any other competent military would do,after being confronted with hundreds of armed bandits; the NA gathered forces, and then came back to crush BH's fancy rebellion.
Forget any other propaganda report without logical basis.
Only DHQ is authorized to release military engagement reports.

The truth is out and you have nothing to do about it.
Watch the video and you will see that cannot be a Boko haram member. The man appears to be at ease and relaxed in harmony on the video.
https://www.naij.com/530782-video-boko-haram-suspect-disguised-woman-turns-nigerian-soldier.html
Surely, you can accurately deduce from the video that the soldier was carrying out tactical covert operations by disguising as a BH fighter in order to infilterate BH ranks in Baga and gather valuable intel for the army.He was most probably one of the army undercover agents that dismantled BH operation network from inside and aided the successful liberation of Baga and other major towns earlier this year.
Its clever military tactics vastly beyond your scope of understanding.

It would be prudent for you to dismiss any propaganda report or video being brandished around by sahara reporters,as they are all nothing but ill-rehearsed attempts at broadcasting unsavory theatrical gimmicks that are meant to fo0l gullible minds.

Perhaps.for such a tiny aircraft, the yak-130 can carry a large number of weapons, its endurance can also be boosted for long range strikes.

Now this is the beast right here.
There is no reason why Nigeria should not possess by far the largest number of su-30s in the continent.
The need is obvious.
Currently,Nigeria has no airforce.
Until we have a fleet of not less than 150 advanced air superiority and ground attack aircrafts along with at least 10 advanced AWACS,then we should not even speak of being the "giant of africa".
Politics › Re: Fighter Plane Suggestion For Nigeria Airforce by EVarn(m): 11:56pm On Aug 23, 2015
CSTR2:
The jf-17 is decent, but relatively untested, has single engine and does not really have the endurance for long range strikes and total air coverage of a country of Nigeria's size without needing to refuel.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Go for the the SU-30.
exactly what I thought.Let us scrap any plans to procure jf-17s,we should go for the russian yak-130 advanced trainer/ground attack aircraft; though relatively untested, the capabilities featured in the yak-130 can give any f16 a run for its money, the yak-130 is like a combination of an f16 and a jaguar, well suited for off-radar deep penetration, ground attack and surgical strikes.
Politics › Re: Fighter Plane Suggestion For Nigeria Airforce by EVarn(m): 11:48pm On Aug 23, 2015
CSTR2:
lol
You give too much credit to Nigerian leaders if you expect them to understand this.
The same nitwits that were ordering for useless F-7 air guards, when the likes of angola, uganda, rwanda were getting su-30s and can carry out long range deep strike attack against Nigeria uninterrupted.
Chad currently has air superiority over Nigeria with their MIG-29 and SU-25s frogfoot interceptor.
Nigerian leaders don't know a thing about territorial integrity.
It befuddles the mind how a nation that depends on the sea for international oil transactions has no submarines nor a destroyer atleast, something relatively'' poorer ''countries like egypt and algeria already have for quite some time.
The niger-delta that should be one of the most secured places on earth, rigged with batteries of s-400 systems and a permanent SU-30 detachment of atleast two squadrons, is as defenceless as dodo against any serious military invasion.
Nigeria is a big joke.
I tell you my brother!,we need leaders!
Politics › Re: Fighter Plane Suggestion For Nigeria Airforce by EVarn(m): 10:41pm On Aug 23, 2015
What Nigeria needs is a "comprehensive advanced fighter jet programme".
Firstly, our defence budget should be increased to at least $5bn{N1trn},then $15-20bn should be ear-marked for a compact 'airforce modernization programme' that would span a period of 8-10 years. The programme should involve summoning various advanced defence companies and fighter jet manufacturers from all over asia to present/showcase their most capable fighters jets and then we should kickstart a bidding process to select the best suited hardware of choice, after which we would order for at least 100-150 of the advanced, preferably 4++ generation fighter jets: such a large scale procurement would naturally come with training and comprehensive mainteinance kit,if we negotiate thoroughly,we would get technology transfer or even tactical technical cooperation.
Enough of using outdated alpha jets,we should go for the SU27/30 and new MiG35 for advanced multirole fleet, then we should pick the new yak-130 advanced trainer instead of the JF-17.
