Yea, but GSD re large breed of dog or medium to large range breed of dogs, they are bigger than medium dogs, this dog isn't like a grown up GSD, except if he meant to say a semi adult, believe me u, I personally tink this is one of the best GSD I ve seen on nairaland(note:One of d best, maybe nt d best) I am so much in love wit the rich coat and structure. Dis dog has very rich black blanket nd brick red markings wit a very attractive black mask, personally I think the dog is lovly but the size ehn small oooo, u mentioned an adult, that dog doesn't have the size of a adult GSD. There is only one dog that never barks and that is the African Bsenji, so if u want a dog that would never bark or disturb ur neighbours, get d basenji, I don't know of any breeder that has it for sale though, but you can try searching the net

GSD re naturally protective in nature nd so are the Rotts, u hardly need to train them to bcom protective because they do it naturally, its their natural instinct to protect. Ur dogs are still puppies, u shuldnt expect them to protecting u @ dis age, just give them the basic training nd when they are mature, they would be tough. And u mentioned ur GSD barks @ other dogs that come near the gate, which means she is already bcoming teritorial, and she would definitely bcom teritorial eventually against humans, jst relax

I don't know your purpose of owning a dog but i remember dashing my rottie out free of charge to a friend and he is a quality rott with boxed head. Good GSD is not easy to find, even in Europe you would have to pay the breeder prior the delivery if you are looking for the best bloodline.

My point exactly, GSDs re the most versatile dogs, they re what I refer to a jack of all trade, an all round dog, pure GSDs still remains the world expensive dogs, when looking @ the general market, lyk I said earlier, d breed ve been spoilt here in 9ja, nd dts y most pppeople dnt value it

Single tibetan mastif dat was recently sold in china, nd dt was sold @ dt price due to bidding nd auctioning, bt generally, the most expensive and versatile dogs in the world is still the gsd, though their breed have been spoilt here in 9ja, bt the pure ones are still the best

Your dog is probably jst a long haired GSD, it is posible for two short haired gsd or medium coat to litter a long coat GSD, jst as it is pppppposible for 2 black nd tan gsd to litter a solid white or solid black gsd, especially if they carry the gene in dem, it is rare bt very pppposible, it culd occur in like one out of a hundred or 500, though according to some standard it is considered a fault nd nt regarded as good breeding,from what I see, if ur gsd was to be medium coat or short coat, it would ve an overall black blanket nd. Little tan markings unlike the father who has a black saddle, so if u say bth parents are really gsd, then she is also a gsd who carries d recessive long coat gene in her. So my guy mate her with a gsd

My dog eats delicious orobo chicken lap every day, and immediately after eating he goes back to his duty post with more aggression than before eating. He sleeps and acts sluggish when he has not eaten. A well fed dog barks louder and bites harder than a hungry dog because he has more energy. And while it's true that a guard dog should be isolated from strangers, he should be allowed to roam the compound when strangers aren't around.

Most breeds like the german shepherds tend to get protective as they approach sexual maturity, which starts from six month but in most cases it extends to 1 year plus. Dogs naturally would love to protect anyrhing they love, for Nigeria locale dogs, it is same with them although their temperament is not predictable as they mite ve bin mixed wit diff dogs of diff temperament in dere linage, nd ve no specific features dey carry. But our Nigerian local dogs if trained well would defend u almost more than(if am to be exagerating) or close to d way a foreign dog will, if u rily want ur dog to be strong willed nd defend u without fear or running away,especially wen facing a threatening situation, u mst socialize the pup, introduce him to new things everyday outsyd its territory, introduce him to loud noise lyk knock out, if posible a gun, loud music nd so o. While doing that ensure that u dnt hit dd dog as dis will mk him feel humans cnt harm him, this kind of training builds its confidence, nd wen I say loud noises, u shuldnt start wit a very loud noise or music, start wit a soft one nd gradually introduce him to oda ones. After u ve built its confidence, u will nw want him to be teritorial, most breeds bcom teritorial naturally nd so do our Nigerian local dogs, u shuldnt let d dog see u often wit strangers within ur teritory, dogs like freedom, try limit its freedom by putting him on chains in an area where it won't have contact with humans, (this shouldn't be done all tru d dogs life as it cn cause behavioural problems) after doin dis, wen u want to give it its food, delay him sometimes he would get fraustrated nd sometimes put d food dwn where he cnt reach while chained, after few months of isolating, try asking someone to bring his dog into ur compound, ur dog will react cos he knws dt is his teritory nd dt d oda dog is trespasing, do not unchain him, dos tend to bark more when on chains especially wen it cnt reach his desired target, after dat excercise u nw knw ur dog is teritorial, den for him barking @ strangers, he would do dt as a result of him nt seeing his teritory being invaded regularly by strangers or always with u. I know u may say dis is nt necesary for a local dog bt I tell u it is, cos I also ve a local dog dt I trained dis way, she fears ntin cos I socialized her well, bark @ strangers nd strange tinz dt she wasn't introduced to, although she fears gun sounds as she tends to urinate wen she hears it nd dts cos I didn't introduce her to such loud noise, shez well trained nd I cn tell u dt in my family shez d most loved nd no one wants to get rid of her despite d fact dt shez local cos shez an all round dog, I ve oda dogs though bt she has always bin dere, she has even helped trained younger dogs bark to certain tinz. To the guy that's talking about straight n slant back german shepered, well if truly you are obsessed with gsd. U should know that a gsd straight back does not mean it's not full breed oo. Gsd are either German working line ( straight back) or American show line( slant back) AKC, america kernel club standard only allows d slant back as real bread gsd but as the name read gsd is originally a german dog and it was used for its intelligence, strength and wonderful loyal temprament in d german world of old. The Germans still prefer d straight back, some people still prefer d slant back too. D slant back always develop hip problem later in life which never happens to d straight back. So do ur research well before confusing pple. A full gsd can be either line, but to be sure it's full, u check d temprament, energy, focus, loyalty, intelligence and of course color n appearance. If u take care of a 70% gsd it will come out better than a 100% gsd that was not well fed and taken care of. I have a gsd of my own and I love her. She is my everything, I do not joke with my dog.

Oh, by the way, she's 5 months n a week old. Big, strong, really cute , loyal, friendly, and trained to do 6 tricks, she is intelligent and when I got her I was told she is not full breed by people who claim they know gsd cos she is not slant back. Did my research and took excellent care of my dog and dose same breeders in my area are booking down for her puppies.

Ur dog is cute, and I dnt tink I mentioned anitin about original GSD being d slant back,common for someone that knows about the breed should knw that german shepherds are of two types, straight back I.e d working line nd slantback d sholine dogs. And mind u d slant back was neva bred in germany, it was bred in America, so many people frown against what dey did to d breed by making it a roach back. I ve only kept straight bk GSDs, I dnt tink I nid. Slant back, they re mostly for shows as dey seem pleasing to the eyes but re nt as efficient as d straight bk. Prices of gsd varies according to the individual selling it, one can see a gud GSD from 30k upwards, like the pups I pics I attached, d straight back is sold for 40k, slant back 120k, and straight bk crosses with a slant is sold for 80k. Those re the last prices I mentioned, the dogs are not mine though, but I ve had several GSD in past years, but I currently have a male GSD nd I got him for 35k. Someone who is in need of money could sell @ any price he deems fit, I may not know so much about other breed of dogs 100%, but when u re talking of GSD, I would say they ve kinda been my obsession since childhood. Plus am not a breeder,I just keep dogs, several, have never breed any of my females,

Well I will call it a Nigerian german shepherd, it may not be 100% but I assure that it is not ekuke like sum people might say, some of them have white legs which is not oaught to be, the facial muzzle is not like that of full breed german shepherd and also the ears, but instead of calling it a cross, I will call it a non wellbred german shepherd, nd about the alsatian name,there is no difference between the german shepherd and alsatian dog, but of recent in nigeria, people call sum specific dogs alsatian, I never knew until I purchased a so called "alsatian" puppy, I was so surprised cause these people that call diz dogs alsatian re d "so called breeders" nd sum oda "people that kee dogs and want to breed them @ all cost" and seems like they know close to nothing about breed of dogs, they are only in it for the money,I realized that the "alsatian dogs in nigeria are the ones that have been crossed wit local dogs or hav bin mixed several tyms wit different breeds, nd dier origin is nt known again. If someone calls ur dog an alsatian, since they mean same wit gsd, u ve d right to say its gsd especially since u can trace its origin to the original german shepherd dog. As for the price, ur normal 20k nd 25k is fair enough to me, no one should ask for less, because am quite sure that dose that call it alsatian re dose same ones that want it sold at a less price, nd if they want a 100% pedigree, dey shuld ve it imported or pay gud money to buy it here. I am going to attach a pics of a so called "alsatian dog" a breeder wanted to sell for 15k, normally the price would attract people but the dog is ntin close to d real alsatian infct its a God 4bid, so my guy 100% pure or nt d ancestry is known nd even if u wan reduce, dnt mk d price any close to 15k except ofcourse u paraventure jst want to get dem sold out fast nd loose more. Cos d alsatian I saw is not even worth 5k to me, bt d seller who told me he is a breeder demanded 15k, nd anoda one in particular demanded 35k nd I was lyk "for dt mutt? My guy u came here in search for d name or breed of d dog u ve posted, nd some people told u its the "nigerian mongrel" I.e "no name" bt originated in nigeria, its called a mongrel cos several breeds of d nigerian local dogs have been crossed to form that dog, our Nigerian dogs re nt something to be ashamed of because d only problem is dat we dnt do selective breeding with our locale dogs, let us bare in mind dat our so called foreign dogs were also combinations of several dogs to form them only that the mix in the breed was selected, nd those individual dogs re their local dog in their respective states or countries nd dey all ve their names, but here in nigeria, we were nt concerned of dogs until recently nd so didn't select d breeds in d mix nd also re nameless, so they re otherwise called "mongrels". U came here 4 d breed of the dog nd later on u called it a mix, u allone ve said it all, dere is no specific breed name 4 ur dog except a mongrel nd most people here would call it a nigerian mongrel cos it has a very very great percentage or resemblance to the Nigerian mongrel. begunatoye: If my reply is not belated, I will suggest the following; fumigation of your apartment and your compound and concurrent tick bath for your dog. A repeat fumigation will be necessary within 12 to 14 days (the degree of infestation is very, very highj) and the dog given another tick bath in 7 days. Anyways, i will give you a female boerboel puppy but on one condition. The condition is this, breed a local dog for 2 years, if at the end of 2years the dog is still in good shape healthwise and otherwise, then i can then give u the boerboel puppy.
