Donald Trump’s businesses and brand have taken a beating since the GOP frontrunner entered the 2016 race for the White House. In the latest blow, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has dropped Trump from the country’s global business outreach network because of his remarks about banning Muslims from traveling to the United States, the BBC reports . Trump was appointed GlobalScot ambassador in 2006. The program utilizes experts in various business fields worldwide to connect with and help Scottish businesses grow. His “recent remarks have shown he is no longer fit to be a business ambassador for Scotland,” a government spokeswoman told the BBC. His membership cancellation went into effect immediately. There are also calls to strip Trump of an honorary doctorate in business from Robert Gordon University, which was bestowed in 2010. The petition from the Scottish university accuses Trump of hate speech. “We respectfully request that Robert Gordon University strips Donald Trump of the honorary degree it bestowed on him with immediate effect. Why is this important? We feel that Donald Trump’s unrepentant, persistent verbal attacks on various groups of people based on nationality, religion, race and physical abilities are a huge detriment to RGU.” 200,000 United Kingdom citizens have also signed a petition that Trump be barred from entering Britain’s shores. Any petition exceeding 100,000 signatures is automatically taken into consideration for debate in Parliament, according to the BBC . The move came after Trump’s continuous claims that parts of London are so heavily saturated with radical Islam that police won’t enter, fearing for their lives. This claim has been discounted as false and also heavily mocked, with social media users posting under the hashtag #trumpfacts images like Queen Elizabeth II wearing a headscarf with the caption: “Even the British monarch is now forced to wear a hijab.” On Wednesday, the Lifestyle chain of department stores in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar dropped Trump’s home goods line, Trump Home . Landmark, the parent company that owns the store chain, said it would pull Trump’s products from shelves in all its 190 stores throughout the Middle East, Africa and Pakistan. “In light of the recent statements made by the presidential candidate in the U.S. media, we have suspended sale of all products from the Trump Home décor range,” CEO Sachin Mundhwa said in an email to Reuters . This isn’t the first time Trump’s comments on the campaign trail have hurt his business ventures. In July, Macy’s department stores announced they would cut ties with Trump after his remarks about Mexican people being criminals and rapists. NBC and Spanish-language network Univision also cut ties with Trump, vowing not to air Trump’s Miss USA pageant. Mattress maker Serta also announced in July it would end its contract with Trump. Serta was selling Trump Home iSeries branded mattresses that are priced between $1,299 to $2,999. “Serta will not renew its contract at the end of the year and we will work with retailers to transition products by that time,” the company tweeted at the time. Trump had apparently set the tone when he launched his presidential candidacy by calling Mexicans rapists and drug runners. His rallies have been punctuated by protests and racially-charged violence . http://www.rawstory.com/2015/12/european-business-network-does-what-the-gop-doesnt-have-the-guts-to-do-ban-donald-trump/ |
Buhari Is The Shortest Route to Igbo Presidency - APC Spokesman Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has canvassed support for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, saying it was the easiest way an Igbo man could occupy the presidency at the end of his administration. Addressing guests after the Junior Chamber International (JCI) U.S.A., Enugu Chapter, a Non- governmental organisation (NGO), honoured him with an award alongside three other prominent Nigerians, for his struggle to advance democracy in Nigeria, Okechukwu warned Ndigbo to refrain from anything that would derail the present administration. He said: “Buhari’s eight-year term is the fastest route to actualising our dream for a president of Igbo extraction, through peaceful means - not hate propaganda. From the zoning convention, when you consider all factors in our favour, in 2023, it will be our turn, as our brothers in the Southwest and South South had been president since our return to civil rule in 1999.” According to Okechukwu: “In 2023, Ndigbo could argue that the South West has given Nigeria a president for eight years; the north has produced a president and the South-South has produced a president. So, it is proper that the South-East should give the country a president as well.” http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/buhari-is-the-shortest-route-to-igbo-presidency-apc-spokesman.151101/ |

Joshua Okpo, the Rector of Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) in Oron, Akwa Ibom State is dead. He reportedly died of heart attack on Tuesday. Recall that Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, a few weeks ago ordered the probe of the accounts of the Academy and the tenure of its Rector over the N18 billion released to the institution . The Rector, it was gathered, incurred the Minister’s wrath when he accused the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) of starving the academy of funds . The Minister, it was learnt, summoned the Acting Director-General of NIMASA, Haruna Jauro and demanded explanation as to why the agency was starving the academy of its statutory five per cent funds. “The NIMASA DG was really shocked by Okpo’s allegation and he explained to the Honourable Minister that NIMASA had regularly released money due to the academy,” a report said. Jauro, it was learnt, also informed the Minister that NIMASA had released more than N18 billion to MAN Oron between 2009 and 2014. It was at this point that Okpo, who also attended the meeting, confirmed to the Minister that the academy had actually received up to N13 billion since 2011 when he assumed duties as the Rector of the institution. http://africanspotlight.com/2015/12/08/rector-of-maritime-academy-in-n13b-mess-collapses-dies-of-heart-attack/

true2god:What's your proof. |
kennyman2000:It's not yet Uhuru. The bill in question is a brainchild of the senators and it seemed to be their favourite. It's receiving accellarated passage as it has gone through second reading in under two weeks. Before it becomes a law it must go to the house of Representatives and the president must assent. The catch for the legislators, the proponents of the bill, is that there is a provision for the joint houses to overrule any presidential veto against the bill. This can happen if after 30 days the president withholds his assent and fails to convince the two chambers of his reasons for doing so. We should brace for the worst as the bill seemed to be a matter of survival, life and death for some senior and influential legislators. |

An Indian national, Mr Somen Debnath, on Thursday said that he arrived Lagos on bicycle after visiting 110 other countries in the last 11 years through same means. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Debnath revealed in Lagos that Nigeria was among the 191 countries he would be visiting to promote Indian culture. He added that the tour was also to create awareness on the effects HIV/AIDS among young people. “The whole essence of my ‘Around the World Bicycle Tour’ programme is to promote Indian culture and raise global awareness on HIV/ AIDS through the education of young men and women worldwide. As a youth myself, I strongly believe that youths in every community globally can make the much desired change we all need. I am in Lagos to sensitise young Nigerians in universities and colleges on what they should know about HIV/AIDS. So far in the last 11 years, I have visited 111 countries including Nigeria on my bicycle.” Debnath said that he started the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign in his hometown in Sundarbans, India, in May 2004, with visits to NGOs, schools, colleges, universities, commercial sex workers and restaurants. He said that he had visited some students of universities and colleges in Lagos to create awareness among them on how to avoid being infected with HIV/AIDS. Debnath , a graduate of Zoology from the University of Calcutta, India, said that it was imperative for young Nigerians to abstain from unprotected sex, but to engage in safe sex by using condoms. He also enjoined Nigerians not to stigmatise or discriminate against persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA)in their communities, but to always show them love and care. He, however, said that his tour had been fraught with dangers and challenges. These include; being held captive by the Taliban in Afghanistan, robbed six times in Central Asia to being beaten eight times by skinheads. Debnath said that during his tour, he also had to contend with wild animals including Rhinos, Elephants, Cheetahs, Pythons and other life-threatening ones.He commended the Indian Government, Indians in the Diaspora and people in the host countries for supporting his global HIV/AIDS campaign tour. http://africanleadership.co.uk/blog/?p=5080

Bugatie:The man is talking rubbish. |
I agree with some of the views. But we never forget the role that Matthew Hassan Kukah and other Christian clergy and elites played in goading Boko Haram into monsters. They it was that propagated the view that Boko Haram was founded, by this same Muslim leaders he is now accusing, with the sole aim of annihilating Christians. They highlighted minority Christian victimization and seemed to rejoice the majority Muslim victimization by Boko Haram. It was the same northern Christian clergy and elites that follow convinced Jonathan, a Christian, along that line. That's how Boko Haram grew into the monsters that they are today. It's the case of the pot calling kettle black. |
MKO4ever:The senator misfired! Buhari is not in Paris for a vacation, pilgrimage, courtesy call or personal visit but for a UN climate change conference. Or is he saying that France would have ignored such a conference if it being held in Nigeria? |
divinehand2003:Who doesn't know the very people portraying us as such? |
Why are you contradicting the message? It clearly says one week but but you are saying 3 months. |

spyder880:Thanks my Oga. Ill be interested to know the cost of your decking- how many tons of rod and bags of cement used in the casting, wood etc. Also is it wise to use counter lever to increase space on the upper floor? Thanks. |
A second issue I have is the plan itself. It was made for me by a friend, a Julius Berger architect who didn't do a modern plan for me. Being a novice I didn't realize that the reigning separate roofing of modern buildings is established and determined from the foundation itself. He just drew a rectangle kind of a thing and the builders are saying that my roof has to be one big rectangular shape. Is there any amendment I can do to alter this? Pls I need help as I will commerce decking work. Thanks in anticipation.

I am very glad that I jam this thread. Greetings to Oga spider and all contributors to this thread. I am also building a 5 bedroom duplex that is very similar to the one in progress. I am also using 9 inches block on the ground floor with a few 6 inches that was used to partition a toilet and the kitchen. I have already added 3 couches of block on top of the lintel thereby finishing block work on the ground floor. My next undertaking will be the decking, which I am planning for seriously. I faced lots of challenges mostly through various and desperate attempts by my "supervisor" relations to inflate prices as I am far away from home. Also the consultant I have made a mistake/omission in the DPP casting- the first work he did in my absence. He didn't do any plumbing work for the toilets. I noticed the 4" pvc pipes that you stand inside block holes in your initial pictures which I guess are for toilet. I am very glad that I jam this thread. You are a fool to count the South south states as Biafra land.. Mind you Biafra or whatever you decide to call yourselves consist of only five states. You better get this fact into your head as we the people of the South south do not identify with any Biafra. Our people never forget how during the brief reign of Biafra Igbos enslaved us and treated us as a conquered people. A clarion call is hereby made to all people of the South south- the Ijaws, the Itshekiris, the Ibibios , the Ikwerres etc to dissociate our land from these fraudsters and take our own destiny in our hands. We can be a Dubai on our own. These guys are fraudsters and not trustworthy as they are eying our oil as the basis for their Biafra. That's why instead of demonstrating in their land they chose to do it in our states. Nigeria started on a good footing but for the Igbos and their greed. They brought the military into politics via the 1966 coup and the civil war of 1967-1970 thereby corrupting our democracy. They are equally responsible for everything evil in Nigeria today- from contraband to fake drugs, from Yahoo yahoo to kidnapping, from armed robbery to piracy, from stealing to baby factories just name it. We reject evil in its totality. People of South south be warned. If you shake hand with a leper he will embrace you and infect you with leprosy. Be warned! |
