Mercy Johnson's husband, Prince Odi Okojie has won the All Progressives Congress house of representatives for Esan North East/South East federal constituency.

Okojie who announced his victory on Instagram, thanked his wife, family members, friends and well-wishers for their support, adding that in coming days, he and his team would embark "on more tours throughout all the wards of the constituency, meeting with stakeholders(both leaders and constituents) so as to foster and deepen the already harmonious relationship that will bring about the very best ways of meeting the dire needs of the good people of Esan North East and South East constituency."

He wrote;


SPECIAL APPRECIATION TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF ESAN NORTH EAST/SOUTH EAST FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.

My dear good people and Leaders of Esan North East and Esan South East Federal constituency, it gives me a great sense of gratitude to God Almighty for making it possible for me to emerge as the APC candidate in the upcoming election into the Federal House of Representatives representing the aforementioned constituency after the just concluded primaries.

This feat will not be possible if not for your kindest and surest support and prayers. It behoves on me to use this medium to express my sincere appreciation to God Almighty, my adorable wife Mrs MERCY JOHNSON OKOJIE for all your love and support, to all my family members, friends and well-wishers. I thank you all.

Headies Organizers report singer Portable to police over death threat to co-nominees as they threaten to disqualify him (Video)

The organisers of 2022 Headies Awards have threatened to disqualify fast-rising singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable for threatening to kill his co-nominees.

This comes after the controversial singer made a threat in a viral video that he would kill whoever beats him to the awards if he fails to win.

In the nomination list unveiled on Tuesday, May 14, Portable bagged two nominations, the ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste.’

Other nominees e in the ‘Rookie of the Year’ category include Av, Fave, Magixx, and Ugocci.

In the second category, he is up against Bella Shmurda, Mohbad, Naira Marley, and Goya Menor among others.

Shortly after the announcement, the Zazuu’ crooner took to his Instagram page to make a threat to whoever wins the 2022 Headies Award over him.

Reacting to the viral video, the award’s organizers in a statement issued on Friday, May 27, said it might be forced to disqualify the singer if he fails to retract his statement and issue an apology on his Instagram page.

The organizers also disclosed that they have reported the issue to the police.

“We have notified the Nigeria police of Mr. Okokiola’s actions to fellow nominees. Also, demand for the immediate retraction of the video as well as a written apology to nominees in both categories and to The Headies has been made.

“Should Mr. Okikiola fail to meet our demands, we will not only disqualify him from participating in The Headies but also enforce the instrumentality of the law.

“The general public are hereby implored to disregard the video and stop the dissemination of the same in the public space.” The Headies noted.

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has declared a 6am to 6pm curfew in seven Local Government Areas of
Anambra State.

The Governor made the announcement in a statewide
broadcast on Wednesday May 25, adding that the affected
local governments are Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North and Orumba South.

The curfew which takes effect from Friday May 27, will be in
force until normalcy returns to the affected areas.

Soludo said;

“With effect from tomorrow, Friday, 26th May, 2022, a 6pm to 6am curfew is hereby placed on motorcycles (okada), tricycles (keke), and shuttle buses in Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Orumba North and Orumba South Local Governments until further notice.

“Also, motorcycles, keke and shuttle buses are banned from operating in these local governments on Mondays until the Sit-at-Home completely stops.”

Youths in the area have also been asked to assist the security agencies in the implementation of the policy. They are also mandated to seize any such motorcycle or tricycle on the spot.

He added;

“The Okada, Keke, and shuttle bus union leaders must take
responsibility to report their members who are involved in
criminal activities. We shall review this after two weeks, and if members of these unions continue to be involved in criminal activities, the government will have no choice but to either disband the Unions and/or ban them out rightly in the state.

“No part of Anambra State (house, bush or forest) shall be used as camps for these criminals. Anyone with a gun in a camp is considered a criminal in Anambra State, and the
government and people will work with security agencies to
flush them out. The State Government shall pursuant to its
powers under the Land Use Act revoke and acquire any land found to be harboring these criminals, for public purpose.

Henceforth, every community is required to provide information on any part of their land occupied by these criminals as camps. If the community fails to do so, the government will take over such land.

“All communities are hereby charged to take over their
communities completely and through the leadership of their Town Unions and Traditional Rulers give weekly security reports (submitted every Friday) to the State Government on the state of security in their communities.

The cooperation of the youths in that regard is now imperative. I charge the vigilantes of each community to rise to the occasion and contend with these criminals in your locality whether they are in your bush or the houses in your community. The State Government expects the report of any progress made in this regard and shall support and reward you accordingly.

“Any buildings found to be harboring these kidnappers and
murderers who have laid siege on our State will, as provided by Criminal Code (Amendment No.3) Law 2013, be forfeited to the State Government. To that extent, all landlords are hereby directed to proceed on “Operation Know Your Tenant” by keeping appropriate records of their tenants and report anyone suspected of being involved in criminal activities. Each community leadership must keep full register of all tenants in their communities, their occupation, etc and keep an eye on their activities. The State Government shall as an emergency measure, disband the leadership of any community which fails to report criminal activities in their communities or immediately respond to the requests contained in this address.

“All market leaders and stakeholders are hereby charged to
join the communities in taking back their territory and monitor the activities in their markets. They are all required to return weekly security reports to the State Government.

“Everybody who either in person or through telephone calls
demands cash support or ransom from anyone in furtherance of any criminal activities or groups should immediately be reported to the government via the telephone lines provided.”

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has broken into the residence of Senator Rochas Okorocha in Abuja after gunshots were heard in the vicinity.

It is not yet clear if anyone was injured from the shots. The EFCC insisted that journalists must leave the premises, forcefully ejecting everyone in the residence.

A Channels Television cameraman, Kabiru Owoyemi, was among those brutalised during the clearance. He was hit with a gun on the neck.

‘Left with no option’

The EFCC had arrived Okorocha’s residence in Maitama to effect his arrest on Tuesday.

According to the agency, Okorocha had refused to “honour
invitations after jumping the administrative bail earlier granted him by the Commission.”

But Okorocha, who is running for President under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, accused the agency of holding him hostage in his own home.

Speaking exclusively to Channels Television, he also asked the EFCC to produce an arrest warrant.

The EFCC had on January 24, 2022 filed a 17-count criminal charge bordering on diversion of public funds and properties to the tune of N2.9billion against Okorocha.

The case was assigned to Honourable Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja but attempts to arraign Senator Okorocha were twice stalled owing to the absence of the ex-governor who evaded service of processes.

At the last adjourned date, March 28th, 2022, Justice Ekwo before adjourning until May 30th, 2022, had warned that it was “the last adjournment I shall grant in this matter”.

According to the EFCC, it was “left with no option than to effect the arrest of Senator Okorocha and bring him to trial.”
