What really puzzles me most times about the PDP is what it really stands for as a political organisation.

No group of persons can come together, without rules and ethics, and yet have the effrontery to tag themselves as an organisation. Does the supposed PDP constitution that became the 'national anthem' a couple of months ago(no thanks to the trickery called zoning) not have penal codes that deals with misconduct on the part of it's members?

In a more disciplined political party, Uduaghan should have been sanctioned and replaced immediately with the party's aspirant that directly trailed Uduaghan in the primary elections.

Unfortunately, we are likely to have our hopes dashed if we expect anything credible from the PDP in the 2011 elections.

@OP, I don't really think it's about Yoruba men "getting any woman they want". Out of all the tribes in Nigeria, Yoruba men are the most accommodating of girls from other tribes/countries when it comes to a relationship. Also, there is a higher percentage of a relationship between a Yoruba man and a girl from another tribe/country ending in marriage as opposed to a man from another tribe. Most men from other tribes tend to stick to their own. That's not to say some of them are not accommodating. Yoruba men are just more liberal.
Quit talking crap.

What research did you conduct? And where are your statistics? Do you know the amount of foreign women married by other Nigerian men?

Simply state that it's your personal opinion, like the OP is doing(which is quite different from the fact), and STOP spreading misinformation.

This is exactly what I want to hear, and we must push for this. Uduaghan must not be allowed to contest at the next elections, infact I would have expected that the Federal Government would immediately ask the Federal Audit commission to review the states financial affairs with the EFCC aiding were necessary.

Uduaghan does not have an admirable record in any stage of his being involved in Delta politics, he has been named in a High profile case in the UK involving fraud, as well as being disqualified for what amounts to electorial malpractice /fraud. The federal government really need to show the citizens of the country that they are prepared to tackle such serious issues and the causes of such serious issues. This is a very good opportunity for the GEJ administration to gain back some credibility, and I am praying that the good people of Delta will fight a good fight.
As the situation stands right now, he is more than free to contest since there's no body set up to tackle such electoral illegalities.

This is one of the reasons why the Uwais panel was constituted so as to put in measures to punish electoral offenders. Unfortunately, those recommendations never saw the light of day.

Now, election riggers who are caught(like the case of Delta state) get the impression that they only need to be more smart next time.

Donmeca:
I'm interested in this! in whose case did d S'Court rule that a nullified state election stands as a tenure if the ousted governor wins the rerun? In my humble view, the election in Delta state was declared null and void. . .by implication there was never a proper election in the state. so, anybody that wins the fresh election will serve for a full 4 year term. I think what u were using is where the court cancels polls in some wards not in the entire state. If uduaghan wins, he has a new 4 year term and can come back in 2015 for re-election. which is very bad or our politics and judicial system. Pls prove me wrong.
That loophole in the Nigerian constitution has been amended by the NASS, only awaiting the signature of the President.

The amendment stipulates that any political office holder that gets re-elected after the cancellation of an election he previously 'won' will only complete what is left of the tenure he had spent.

As at present, the NASS is planning to go to court to challenge the recent high court's ruling that the amended constitution is not valid.

If the NASS gets their way(which is most likely) before the Delta state gubernatorial re-run, then Uduaghan will only have to complete the 200 days or thereabout that he has left of his tenure.

polygamy in Yorubaland may seem to be waning away in urban centres(though taking new forms like having series of 'mistresses', which is not fading away any time soon).

In the hinterland, the level of polygamy still maintains a status quo.

Some time i use to wonder what the intelligent unit of security outfit do. Are these kidnappers strangers in Abia, do they fly into Abia etc. I will suggest to the security outfit to summon all the chiefs in Abia for questioning because these kidnappers are living in their domain.

I dont think if you were a traditional ruler that you'll risk your life exposing these misguided criminals. Cant you see the reason why they are returning? To eliminate anyone trying to identify them.
PoliticsRe: Kidnappers Back In Aba by excanny: 11:05pm On Nov 09, 2010
There's no country in the world where unscrupulous elements don't have illegal access to firearms.

The government only needs to train and equip it's security forces so that they are a step further at all times ahead of criminals.
