The Governor-elect of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has vowed that he would never appoint anybody who worked against him into his cabinet when he takes over power in November 12. Obaseki polled 319,483 to defeat his main rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who polled 253,173 in the just concluded governorship election in the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Benin City during the weekend, Obaseki, said, though he could explain the focus and vision of his administration to them, none of them would be appointed in his administration. However, the outgoing Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, had at the inception of his administration in 2008, appointed three members of the Peoples Democratic Party into his cabinet.

Obaseki said, “I will not accept anybody from the opposition political parties as a commissioner in my cabinet.”

The governor-elect said he would immediately form a team for the purpose of preparing the 2017 appropriation budget. According to him, he has to prepare the budget in order to hit the ground running as he had only four weeks to present it before the House of Assembly embarks on a recess.

Obaseki, who noted that the opposition had capitalised on the protests by some pensioners prior to the governorship election, said only 700 pensioners, out of the 11,700 who retired from the state civil service, were yet to be paid.

He said, “Some people took advantage of the electioneering and tried to get at us. People had hoped that with the anxiety to win election, we would have resolved the issues.’’

Obasanjo have taken a rather overt step to speak on the realities confronting Nigeria as a nation. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, speaking with newsmen on Saturday after a lecture organised by the Youth Fellowship of the Owu Baptist Church, Totoro in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to mark the nation’s 56th Independence Day anniversary, Obasanjo asked God to bless the souls of those who lost their lives while fighting to keep the nation as one.

In his lecture titled, ‘Nigeria: Development for Nigerians by Nigerians,’ the former president stated that though the country was not where it ought to be after 56 years of independence, he was optimistic it would surmount its challenges. He said, “Our development is impaired; it is not what it ought to be, but we must get it right.”

According to Obasanjo, in order to move the country forward, “we must all accept responsibility; we must stop passing the buck.” He noted that the development of the country must be by Nigerians, foreign investors and all friends of Nigeria. According to Obasanjo, the areas of priority for development include peace, security, education, food and nutrition, water and sanitation, shelter and transportation.

The ex-president said, “Unemployment is a major problem in the country today and if we don’t take care, it will consume all of us. In fact, the rising unemployment is a time bomb.”

Obasanjo noted that the high rate of unemployment was responsible for youth restiveness in the country, warning that the situation should be approriately tackled. The ex-president had called for the urgent reform of the business operations model of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

Obasanjo said the urgent reform was needed to lift the economy out of recession and create wealth for Nigerians.

Facebook CEO and founder, Mark Zuckerberg, on Saturday, the 1st day of September, 2016 added Hausa language, Fula, and two others, Maltese and Corsican to Facebook, making the social media platform become available in more than 100 languages.

“Our community makes this possible. Over the last decade, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have worked together to find the right translations for words and phrases in the Facebook interface. Because the idea of a “Like” in English may mean something different in Arabic or Japanese.”

The Fula language, also known as Fulani, is a non-tonal language spoken in Northeastern Nigeria and in a continuum that stretches across some 20 countries of Western Africa and Central Africa. Spoken as a first language by the Fula people, it is also spoken as a second language by various peoples like the Kirdi of Northern Cameroon.

Zuckerberg who visited Nigeria on August 30th where he met with software developers and ICT entrepreneurs in Lagos pledged to use Nigerian languages in offering services on Facebook.

However, on the reasons for the added languages, he said, ” For people to share what matters to them and see what matters to the people they care about, they need services available in a language they know. Some of the languages we’ve added don’t have meaningful presence on the internet.”

It is no news that Nigeria authorities especially the forces can frustrate the life of any individual in this country if they choose to do so. Lets not even talk about the Police or the RRS, or the Mopols or VIO or FRSC etc, but LASTMA is getting worst day by day.

For Instance: I don't see why following a road which the danfo drivers followed will get them to tow your vehicle but they wont even bat an eye on the Danfos. This is pathetic.

Anyway the picture above is the picture of a man who the LASTMA was trying to tow his vehicle and all of a sudden, he removed his cloths, sat down in front of his vehicle and started shouting on the officials to tell him what he has done.

What is really wrong with this people? And I love Lagos, no matter how tough the officials think they are, they will always meet their match one day.

German data protection authorities on Tuesday said they had blocked Facebook from collecting subscriber data from its subsidiary WhatsApp, citing privacy concerns.

Facebook and WhatsApp promised in the wake of the Silicon Valley giant’s 2014 acquisition of the messaging app that they would not share data, Hamburg’s Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Johannes Caspar recalled in a statement. He added that Facebook would be required to delete any data already received from WhatsApp in Germany.

“It has to be (the users’) decision whether they want to connect their account with Facebook,” Caspar said. “Facebook has to ask for their permission in advance.” WhatsApp announced in August that it would begin sharing data with Facebook, in a bid to allow better targeted advertising and fight spam on the platform. Currently, users of the instant messenger must opt out of sending information to Facebook through WhatsApp’s settings on their smartphone.

Caspar said that he had acted to protect the privacy of 35 million WhatsApp users in Germany — a fraction of some one billion worldwide — and that of people saved in their address books, whose details might also be forwarded under the data-sharing arrangement.

Facebook’s activities in German-speaking regions are managed through its subsidiary in Hamburg, placing the firm under the jurisdiction of the regulator in the northern port city. Spokespeople for Facebook could not immediately be reached for comment on the ruling.

WhatsApp’s announcement that it would share information with Facebook came just four months after the service introduced end-to-end encryption by default, saying that the content of messages would become unreadable for anyone except the sender and receiver.

In mid-September, the European Commission recommended tighter privacy and security requirements for services including WhatsApp and Microsoft-owned video calling service Skype, saying they should be regulated more like traditional telecoms.

Subjecting the internet firms to such rules could force them to offer emergency calling services and to obey stricter privacy rules.

Suffice to say, Nigeria NCC didn't even blink an eye on this Whatsapp to Facebook data transfers and it makes me wonder if the Nigeria government Actually know the implication of this data sharing.

Assuming Nigeria government doesn't know, let me educate them a little bit. As long as u have a Facebook account and friends on it, Facebook already knows who you are, your bios, your family, friends etc and if you have Facebook app installed on your phone: hmm, it means they know every move you make my dear, it means they have access to everything in your phone, to the extent that they can use the camera on your phone to video your surroundings. And as long as you have WhatsApp installed in your phone, WhatsApp already knows and read all your messages on WhatsApp, knows all the saved phone numbers in your phone, knows your location, knows your travel patterns, listens to your calls and sms.

Now imaging the combination of Facebook and WhatsApp. It simply means everything about you is on their palm. Think about that. This is what German government is trying to avoid.

I mean you can just pickup a mobile phone now and call any part of the world you wish to call effortlessly and seamlessly. Just thank your stars that you were not born at least during 80's when my pop will always go to one of uncle's house to received my brother's call from abroad ...lol. A Nigerian man has been charged with murder following the deaths of a woman and her nephew in East Finchley, Metropolitan Police UK, said. Obina Ezeoke, of no fixed address was on Tuesday, 20 September, charged with two counts of murder following the deaths of Annie Besala Ekofo, and her nephew, Bervil Kalikaka-Ekofo in East Finchley.

He will appear in custody at Hendon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 21 September. A 20-year-old man remains on bail until a date in late October.

Mother of nine, Ekofo and her nephew Bervil Kalikaka-Ekofo, 21, were shot dead in her home on Elmhurst Crescent in Finchley in the early hours of Thursday morning,September 15th, by five gunmen who smashed down the front door and burst into their flat. Ekofo died in a hail of bullets before her nephew was shot in the head as he slept on a couch in what is thought to be a tragic case of mistaken identity.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Four other people, including a child, were also in the house when the pair were gunned down but were not hurt. A post-mortem into the death of Mr Kalikaka-Ekofo at Northwick Park Hospital Mortuary yesterday revealed he died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Her husband Jean-Pierre is understood to have been take to a psychiatric unit where he is being treated for trauma after witnessing the horrifying dawn assassination. Mr Kalikaka-Ekofo’s mother Maymie Botaba Chantelle revealed that her son was studying psychology at the University of West London. In a tribute she said:

"His character and soul was beyond comparison, and it goes without a doubt that he will be truly and deeply missed by his family." A statement released by Mrs Besala Ekofo’s family described the mother of nine as the glue that kept everyone together and a comforting voice in the hardest situations.

Mr. President has been called upon to sell the jets in the presidential fleet by a coalition of civil society organisations. The organisations under the aegis of Say No Campaign Nigeria on Friday said the presidency should not be keeping a large fleet of jets when the country is currently experiencing economic recession.

While speaking with journalists, Chairman of the coalition, Ezenwa Nwagwu said the Federal government should also begin plans for the comprehensive review and audit of constituency projects between 2004 and 2016. He also said salaries of public officers should be slashed by 50%, stating that it would indicate that the government is committed to bringing about change.

He said,

“We are greatly concerned about the unprecedented level of economic hardship bedeviling the nation which has resulted in hunger, deprivation, unemployment, rising cost of essential commodities, unmitigated corruption in public and private institutions, worsening security situation, flagrant abuse of democratic processes and the accompanying failure or refusal by government to effectively address these issues.

“The situation in Nigeria is grim and therefore requires urgent response. While we hold that Buhari’s administration deserves commendation for its social intervention initiative aimed at reducing unemployment, we maintain that a lot more needs to be done, and urgently too to avert the looming economic disaster.

“We demand practical solutions to ameliorating the economic hardship including sale of the presidential jets, which the President promised to do and 50 per cent slash in salaries of public officers. The government should make essential commodities available to vulnerable Nigerians at reduced prices and probe pet projects of First Ladies, which act as conduit.”

According to Sahara reporters, a former spokesman of terrorist sect, Boko Haram Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, also known Al-Zawahiri, has been arrested by the police in the house of Senate leader Ali Ndume. Konduga who was recently released from prison after serving three years and is believed to be mentally unstable snuck into Ndume’s house on Sunday night.

He was identified, beaten beyond recognition, and rearrested on Wednesday. A source said, “As luck will run against him, Konduga came back again to the house on Wednesday at about 4pm, where he was identified by some close associates of Ndume who used to accompany the senator to the Federal High Court in Abuja then.

“Policemen in charge of G.R.A police station were alerted and rearrested Konduga. He is now in police cell, while Senator Ndume has been informed.” Konduga was arraigned alongside Senator Ndume before an Abuja High Court.

He accused Ndume of sponsoring him to undertake Boko Haram activities. An accusation Ndume had pleaded not guilty to. A source said Konduga “kept on coming to the Senator’s house to apologize to the immediate family for indicting Ndume”.

In a bid to stimulate and stabilize economic activities, FG says it is releasing additional N350bn for capital projects captured in the 2016 budget. The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, gave the figure on Friday while briefing journalists on interventions measures being taken by the government to reflate the economy which is currently in recession.

She said that the release of the additional N350bn brings the total capital releases made by the government to N760bn. She said with the economy in recession, the level of consumer demand would be reduced drastically hence the need for government to step in by injecting liquidity.

She said, “What government wants to do is to step in and begin to spend and pushing more money into the economy and then get things moving again. “Since the budget was passed in May we have released and cash backed fully N420bn capital releases. As we speak now, we are about releasing another N350bn that’s between May and now.

“One of the sectors we spent the money on, of course the largest has been power, works and housing. Quite a lot has gone on defence because we need to rebuild the credibility of our army to continue in their efforts in the new phase, interior, transport.”

The minister said out of the N350bn, the government would be setting aside N60bn for the implementation of the social intervention programme. She said the implementation of social safety schemes was vital as it would enable the government provide direct cash to vulnerable Nigerians.

You know you are all good and very important to this organization? The boss started. But I am so sorry this is happening...

By this time, the perspiration on my forehead started to role down.

It was on a Monday morning and there was no sign of it coming...

As you all know, continued the boss; the company can no longer afford to pay the salaries of everybody for now. This is as the result of the ongoing economic recession in the country.

Since I can't find fault in any of you, we shall embark on some very rigorous tests and anyone who can not make it through will have to go back home, maybe when things gets back to normal, we can reconsider.

After all the talks, we were arranged into the conference room and served with question papers. In it were questions on organic chemistry, economics, physics, philosophy, politics, geography and calculus.

The pass mark was 80/100%. But in the end, despite the fact that I scored 88% I wasn't selected because, I couldn't attempt the questions on calculus.

But what can I do?
But the bitter this is that, I just got married to wifee few months ago.

Aaah, my brother, the story is so touchy, i promise u one thing, God will never bring u to a place u cant succeed.


You will not lack. Just use that calculative brain of urs and move on. Ok

Anambra State Governor, Willie Obianno witnessed a sick scene on his way to a condolence visit to a family who lost one of their own. A lorry believed to have lost control crush a woman and her grandchild to death at IKB Junction in Awka Etiti.

Governor Obiano ordered the ambulance in his convoy to carry their remains to the closest mortuary amidst tears. Now my problem is. It was quite a scene according to the eyewitness. Unity Bank Plc, yesterday being 14th September, 2016 sacked more than 215 of its employees. It was gathered that the workers were sacked for their inability to cope with the new ideas and strategy of the institution which is part of its re-engineering strategy for greater performance. We all know that is a lie in the first place.

The source close to the bank said:

” About 200 new hires were said to have been recruited by the Bank to drive the transformation initiative began by the Management in the last one year while about 100 other staff were said to have been promoted recently.

Meanwhile, some members of staff numbering about 215 have been allowed to go in an exercise that will enable the Bank realign its operation to pursue its long term growth strategy. However the affected staff were said to have exercised the option to resign while Management has approved severance package in line with the bank’s policy.”

Industry source asserted that the exercise carried out by the bank was part of the hard choices that prosperous minded organisations desiring optimum performance had to take from time to time to enable it deliver.

His excellency President Muhammadu Buhari received over 100 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Daura local government area at his residence yesterday, being 13th September, 2016. “I walked on my foot for most of the 30 months that we fought the Nigeria-Biafra civil war, in which at least 2 million Nigerians were killed. “We were made by our leaders to go and fight Biafra not because of money or oil, because oil was not critical factor then, but because of one Nigeria.

So if leaderships at various levels failed, it was not the fault of the rest of Nigerians who have no quarrel with one another. So please tell your colleagues that we must be together to build this country. It is big enough for us and potentially big enough in terms of resources.

Those who work hard will earn a respectable living. I have seen this country, I fought for this country and I will continue to work for the unity of this country.”

The President gave them gifts of cows, bags of rice and cash for Sallah celebration.
