MARKone:@MARKone do you have a suggestion for her on how to dispose it appropriately? Do you know the best way to handle such? |
efficiencie:This suggestion is ideal and very reasonable too. I think once it is burnt, you don't need to stress in burying it again. you can flush the burnt elements. ![]() |
cococandy:I think this is the correct word "Medical Waste". That is what it should be. Instead of us stressing our brains on what to do with it. I remember for my first time. I told my mum and she told me to go get a small pot called "ikoko agbe'bi" which means "Pot for Placenta". After getting the pot she asked me to rub the inner part of the pot with red oil (I guess that signifies calmness) before putting the Placenta then to bury it afterwards. |
Victoria938:I think suggestion is safe too. |
glowshine:Many people have that fears that if it get into a wrong hand, something wrong might happen later (Some believe it is superstitious ). Some even believe it must be the husband that must take care of it. For example some usually use a slang in the Yoruba land that "Aja je ibi omo e" which means "A promiscuous lady's placenta is probably eaten by a dog". However, I remember a friend told me he threw one placenta into the river when his wife gave birth to her second child as he can't pass through the tedious task of finding where to bury the first one He also said he can't tell his wife the situation as he don't know how the wife will take the matter maybe lightly or not. |
CandyOps:It is not disgusting, that's why I posted it in the family section. Many young dad will have to google what to do with placentas ![]() Should it be buried or eaten? Many usually bury it. The question of where and why to bury it also arises at times. |
CXLVII:There is a Yoruba adage that says "Ojo ta ba ribi ni ibi nwole" which means the same day you see a placenta is the same day we bury it, I actually buried a particular placenta the next day and usually laugh when I hear that adage ![]() I think it is a difficult situation to bury the stuff for those living in the urban area. |
Hello Nairalanders and Guests. I am just curious to know what to do with the placenta after birth, and I am sure many young men as first timers feels the same if handed the placenta after his wife delivers a child. Especially to young guys that are just raising a family. I know that culture varies but in Yoruba tribe for example, placenta are meant to be buried. Buried where? On your land or you have to encroach another man's land to bury that? ![]() As a father or grandfather kindly share your experience on how to dispense placenta after delivery. Many thanks. |

Mindlog:You are legally married doesn't warrant you to go and die untimely. That you are legally married doesn't make a female less to a male. That you are legally married doesn't mean you should deny yourself of your freedom. That you are legally married doesn't mean you can not marry another person customarily. Legally married? Stay away from the guy if you are not comfortable with the future. In 2 to 3 years time he will try to file for divorce but no go see money do am. Divorce for 9ja is not the same as Nollywood movies o. |

bluefilm:Ballot boxes were brought to us every 4 years. Why must we always suffer to get registered for things like this. Why can't we have a center in every Ward? |
I got my NIN from a bank last year when I wanted to open an account with them. I got to the NIMC center the next day to pick the slip but met a mammoth crowd. The officials needed me to bribe before I can do the registration. I had to leave so far I have the number already. The BVN generated the NIN automatically but our rulers enjoy seeing us suffer. |
Felicity0001:Hi, Kindly let me know how much you guys deliver weekly or monthly. |
If we dig deep, you are also dating someone else. We guys usually dey claim say we be saint by dating multi-ladies while we expect everyone of them to be faithful with us. Stupid. |

Petr Cech made sure to pay tribute to former clubs Arsenal and Chelsea during a dream ice hockey debut for Guildford Phoenix this weekend. The Phoenix – reserve side of the British National League outfit Guilford Flames – announced Cech’s arrival last week and the 37-year-old received messages of support from the footballing world as he embarked on his new journey. Cech looked at home on the ice as Phoenix’s clash with Swindon Wildcats went to overtime on Sunday evening, with the sides tied at 2-2 after 60 minutes. Incredibly, the veteran Czech was Phoenix’s hero in a nail-biting penalty shootout, sealing the win for the home team with a crucial save at the death. Credit to www.metro.co.uk |
This one wasn't in the DIY manual: a man decorating his bathroom in eastern France slipped and got his head stuck in his stepladder... for five days. French media report that the man, in his 60s, was still conscious when the medics turned up. They were alerted by his sister, who visited him on Friday. His head, trapped between two rungs, swelled during the five-day ordeal and he was unable to reach his phone. The blood flow in his head was reduced, so he is undergoing hospital checks. The man, from Mattaincourt near Épinal, whose name was not made public, was found to be severely dehydrated too.
