So what is your opinion? That students should go to strike?so that when ASUU finally calls off students won't go to school?Hmmmm.Open up.Nigerians are listening to u.It's democracy so feel free to say your mind. |
Indeed i think ASUU is just an obstacle to the development of education in Nigeria, though i know they are fighting for their rights but i still think they are doing it in a very wrong way because it is affecting the students.Imagine if a five years course turns to be a six years course,i don't want to go into stating the negative effects ASUU have caused the GREAT NIGERIAN STUDENTS because it might not even end.In conclusion ASUU should find an alternative to STRIKE. |
@ngel0v3 (m) Hackers' Planet Posts: 29 Offline Offline ! « #14 on: Today at 05:05:09 PM » My dear, to be honest with you, it isn't actually a matter of which "programme" or "cert" to acquire. You need to define a career path for yourself on time. Define your path by judging where your interest actually lies. Is your passion inclined best towards handling databases, or being creative with programming software applications, or even getting muddy and dirty with computer hardware? Web design/development nko? Who even told you there networking isn't cool, labour-market wise?! Define your interest first, then start working on building your career path. These days, companies look at more than just a N+ and/ or a CCNA if you are into Networking. You have to be diversified in your area of specialty. And inorder not to be worried over the cost and time you will into acquiring really competitive certifications in your chosen area of specialty, you have to enjoy what you are doing. In IT, once you learn to have fun at what you do in whatever area you choose, your creativity and imagination will make companies chase you up and down. When you have fun at your job, people will seize to justify your value and skills by your certifications and qualifications. Presently, I haven't completed my degree (in Theatre Arts for Christ's sake!) but my skills in programming (ASSEMBLY, PHP and Python basically) and ethical soiling skills open doors for me. I'm even less than 21! Get it? Discover the first love that attracted you to the world of IT, and just have fun doing it. If the money comes first in your mind, you will lose out. It's like: Seek ye first the kingdom of personal/intellectual satisfaction, and every other thing will come running after you!!! Chou!!! Report to moderator Logged i totally agree with him.It all depends, they are jobs for all I.T courses.Just last week i saw a job advert request for CCNP and OCP.Then last month i know i saw so many adverts on java,so my dear it all depends on what a particular company needs at a particular time. But i must advice u go for oracle. |
I will buy zain(Vivendi) in 2020. |
May God help Anambra state to produce the best man or woman to govern anambra state.Amen. |

Fellow Nigerians Anyone who has been in Enugu from 2007 till date that does not appreciate the rapid development in Enugu state is either blind, stupid, ungrateful, living in remote hamlet,or possibly a big Fool. Please no hard feelings, but this is the best way i think i should reply.Weather it was Zinox that came to Enugu government or not,the facts remains that Barr.Sullivan played a role, for God's sake signing it alone is a big work.Just incase you have not heard , google is planing to give the entire Abuja free wireless internet services, and the Federal government must first approve it,so on a good day If Yar'adua says No,then google has no other option than to look for another african country to render their services to.Let's try and appreciate the working governors like Barr.Sullivan and Barr Fashola.Unlike my state governor Mr Peter Obi who has practically done nothing, but thank God that the election is around the corner, just next year anambra people will come out in multitudes to vote for the right candidate either Sen.Ukachukwu or Ngige or any other credible politician but not the likes of Peter Obi,Emeka Etiaba, etc |
People currently residing in Enugu State are enjoying free wireless network already. Thanks to Sullivan,on the aspect of google colaborating with US government to spy on Nigeria;for me it is a welcome development unless you have something to hide,i think it will be a better way of combating the yahoo boys in Nigeria. |
ENUGU GOVERNMENT IS TURNING ENUGU INTO A NEW GENERATION CITY. The Governor of Enugu state seems to be the best working governor in Nigeria, already in the history of Enugu state,he is the best Governor Enugu had ever had.If the last time you visited Enugu state was in early 2008,then you need to visit the new Enugu state,Governor Sullivan Chime has practically turned Enugu state to what i may end up calling "Enu-london",ranging from the construction of almost all the roads that i know since my five years of stay in Enugu as a Student of Enugu State University Of Science And Technology, to providing a free wireless internet services to the good inhabitants of Enugu state, hence i may end up calling the governor "The peoples service provider(PSP)."Indeed the Governor is doing well and he is still doing more. |

With your CCNA certification you can get a good Job.Meanwhile if you are financially buoyant, then i would advise you get more certifications, just like me,i have OCA and OCP and by middle of next year i should have CCNA and CCNP. |
The supreme court have once again disappointed Nigerians.Posterity will judge the supreme court. |
Gani is indeed the voice of the silent majority. He is indeed our hero. |
Indeed that Iraqi journalist is not qualified to be a journalist. His certificate should be withdrawn. He does not know the meaning of ethics or even etiquette.I consider him a growing terrorist. |
OBAMA AND HISTORY Fellow Africans, Indeed Sen.Barack Obama have broken the bond of the long term silent slavery of the blacks in American,Obama is indeed the chosen one that will liberate Africa and the world at large,Africans should therefore do everything possible to protect Obama. |
Rivers varsity vice chancellor kidnapped By HENRY CHUKWURAH, Port Harcourt Monday, September 15, 2008 Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section The Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University of Science and technology (RSUST), Professor B.B. Fakae has been kidnapped. He was abducted on Sunday evening on the Bori axis of the East-West Road while on his way back to Port Harcourt. Sources said the vice chancellor was travelling with some of his children in his official car when unknown gunmen appeared from the bush and brought the vehicle to a stop. They threw the children out and drove away with the professor. So far no group has claimed responsibility for the incident. However, Daily Sun gathered that before the abduction, Prof. Fakae, a former rector of the Rivers State Polytechnic in Bori had received several threat letters. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Rita Inoma-Abbey (DSP), confirmed that the vice chancellor had received several text messages threatening his person, some of which he sent to the police. She said official hunt for the kidnappers and their prime victim had begun. |
MEND declares war By CHRISTY ANYANWU Monday, September 15, 2008 •Militant Photo: Olufemi Kayode More Stories on This Section The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has declared an “oil war” in response to attacks the Joint military Task Force (JTF) launched against militants at the weekend. The militant group in a press statement issued on Sunday said it had launched an operation code-named Hurricane Barbarossa, warning oil companies and foreign expatriates to move out of the region to avoid being caught in the war. But the JTF has dismissed the MEND threat with a wave of hand, warning the group to desist from causing instability in the Niger Delta, as the Nigerian military would not abdicate its responsibility and allow the region to be held to ransom. The MEND statement reads in parts: “Following a previous warning that any attack on our positions will be tantamount to a declaration of an oil war, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has declared an oil war in response to the unprovoked aerial and marine attacks on a MEND position in Rivers State of Nigeria on September 13, 2008 by the armed forces of Nigeria. “About 0100 Hrs, today, September 14, 2008, Hurricane Barbarossa commenced with heavily armed fighters in hundreds of war boats filing out from different MEND bases across the Niger Delta in solidarity to carry out destructive and deadly attacks on the oil industry in Rivers state. “By dawn, destroyed oil flow stations, gunboats, burst pipelines, dead and injured soldiers trailed in the aftermath of the “hurricane.” Some specific locations include the Soku Gas Plant, Chevron Platform at Kula, over 22 well armed soldiers sent as reinforcement were intercepted, killed and dispossessed of their weapons, a major crude trunk pipeline at Nembe creek was blown up at several points. “The operation will continue until the government of Nigeria appreciates that the solution to peace in the Niger Delta is justice, respect and dialogue. This military style bullying belongs to the past 50 years when the Niger Delta people responded only with their mouths, pens and placards. “All international oil and gas loading vessels entering the region are warned to drop anchor in the high sea or divert elsewhere until further notice. Failure to comply is taking a foolhardy risk of attack and destruction of the vessel. “Again, we are asking that oil companies evacuate their staff from their field facilities because the brief is not to capture hostages but to bring these structures to the ground”. The group has also disclosed that the 27 oil workers it rescued from pirates who kidnapped them from the MT Blue Ocean were trapped in the camp they were kept as a fallout of the fight with the JTF. It said among the trapped oil workers are five expatriates from Britain, South Africa and Ukraine, while the remaining 22 are Nigerians. MEND appealed that the Red Cross or humanitarian workers such as the Doctors without borders be allowed passage to see the trapped oil workers as some of them were wounded as a result of the military attack. The JTF told Niger Deltans to go about their normal business as the MEND and other militant groups did not pose any threat in the region. Lt. Col Chris Musa the commander of the JTF said the MEND could not match the force of the military located in various areas of the Niger Delta. He said all his men were on red alert and would crush any MEND threat, adding that threat by MEND that it was attacking soldiers or would attack soldiers was an end signal of a group that had lost relevance. Meanwhile, the Federal Government has been urged to probe the alleged invasion of Elem Tombia and two other communities in Rivers State by soldiers at the weekend in which no fewer than 15 persons including women and children were feared dead. The JTF had alleged an unprovoked attack on its men on routine patrol by suspected militants for which the soldiers launched a counter attack. Making the probe call in a statement he issued on Sunday in Port Harcourt, the Member of the House of Representatives who represents the area, Dr. Sokonte Davies, accused the soldiers of attempting to create, “another Odi, Odiama and Umuechem” in the riverine community. In his assessment of the incident that occurred 48 hours after two persons kidnapped in Port Harcourt were rescued in the community with the help of the natives, the action of the soldiers were akin to declaring “war against a peaceful people.” He saw the official explanation by the JTF as, “a blatant lie to cover wickedness” and demanded that those behind it should be punished and the victims rehabilitated. “The Nigerian Armed Forces have stirred the hornets’ nest. The people of Tombia demand an immediate investigation of this action and bring the perpetrators to book since, if the spokesman for the JTF should be believed, this is an illegal action. “They should also take immediate measures to rebuild the communities and make emergency arrangements to compensate all those who have suffered loss.” Dr Davies talked about, “a high number of casualties, especially women and children and several persons missing,” while faulting the military action as ill-advised. “We belief (sic) that if this a strategy to solve the Niger Delta problem, it was ill-advised. We hope that the Federal Government will show the necessary will to handle this matter adequately.” Meanwhile, the JTF has hinted of a reprisal attack by militants following las Saturday’s incident. The spokesman of the military outfit, Lt. Col. Musa, said in another interview that, “as anticipated, the bandits staged a flamboyant attack” between 3 am and 4 am at Soku oil facilities and Robertkiri community, The JTF commander stated that the soldiers guarding the facilities put up, “active resistance” and “successfully repelled the attack with casualties on the miscreants’ side.” According to him, a soldier was wounded in the latest attack. |

NO WAY FOR PETER OBI IN THE NEXT ANAMBRA GUBER RACE With all deserved due respect to his excellency the executive governor of Anambra State Mr Peter Obi,I Com Engr.Ezenwenyi.Stanley.Chidiebere oppose his proposed return in the next Anambra guber race.My reasons are not far-fetched because i have not seen any development that he has brought to the state that will make the good people of Anambra State to cry for his return.I believe that every Anambrarian has seen what Mr Peter Obi can offer and would like to see what other prominent Anambra citizens can offer. |

Fellow Nairalanders, Please let's try to be generous. The youths need empowerment and if we the youths keep hiding knowledge from each other, then Nigeria will not meet the 2020 technological goal.My internet is slow, but when it comes up i will download it(oracle 10g dumbs) and publish it on this page for everybody that needs it.In USA they have sites for freebies, those that publish it did not necesarily got it free, some buy it just to publish it for those who can't afford it.That is why everything works in USA because their youths are empowered. |
ANDY UBA MUST BE A JOKER I have never heard of the so called Governor-in-Waiting.Please someone in the Nigeria bar association should wake this young man up!Because he is dreaming, and the judge that gave that injunction in court should be sanctioned.Indeed Andy Uba can not take over after Peter Obi. Anambra people will no longer accept any form of injustice. |
Oliver de Coque (1947-2008) OLIVER de Coque, the handsome, bearded man of music, who died at a private hospital in Lagos on Friday, June 20, was a leading exponent of highlife music and an accomplished artist. His death follows closely in the wake of the deaths of other notable musicians like Sonny Okosun, Sammy Needle and Steve Rhodes. Oliver de Coque whose real names are Sunday Oliver Akanita, was planning to bury his mother when he too succumbed to death. The story of the remarkable rise to stardom of the artist reads like a fairy tale. Born into humble circumstances, Oliver was largely a self-made man. He attended primary school in his hometown of Ezinifite in Anambra State. For his secondary school education, he proceeded to the Niger Institute of Commerce, Aba, Abia State where he read English, BookKeeping and Accountancy. He was successful in the Royal Society of Arts examination. Life was not easy for him. At weekends, he and another minstrel entertained on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Channel 4 in Aba. He called his music Ekpili. The takings were so small that he had to sell shoes on weekdays to augment his meager earnings. The year was 1965 when Oliver was only 17 years old. Very soon, the Nigerian civil war broke out. Oliver found himself on the Biafran side. Under wartime conditions he moved from one military formation to the other entertaining Biafran soldiers. In 1970, with the civil war over, he went back to Aba in search of a job, but there were no jobs. By chance he met one Sunny Agaga and his Lucky Star Band who recruited him and took him to Lagos. He soon got tired of the band and joined another group in Oshodi called Friendly Unity Band. As the band was neither friendly nor united, he struck out again, this time with Sule Agboola and his Moonlight Star Band. This band was to take him to London for four months during which they played only at weekends. During weekdays Oliver did odd jobs that paid handsomely at ?80 a week. With this money in his pocket, he bought himself two guitars, two amplifiers, and a set of drums. Upon his return to Nigeria, he started his own band, the Ogene Sound Super of Africa. An accomplished guitarist, Oliver learnt his art from a Congolese musician called Piccolo. In 1974 he released his first album called Messiah. It was moderately successful as it sold about 50,000 copies. In 1979, he hit gold and shot into the limelight with his release of People's Club Ka anyi bili be ndu (People's Club, let us enjoy ourselves). The album sold over two million copies at the time. Overnight, Oliver de Coque had become a household name in Nigeria and beyond. He went on to record hit after hit. Some of the notable hits include Funny Funny Identity, Ugbana, (egret) Easter Special, Ana enwe obodo enwe, (not everybody can own the land), Biri ka mbiri (live and let live), Otimkpu (town crier), Uwa cholu obi umeani (the world wants peace), Olisa kanyi nayo (we pray to God), nnukwu mmanwu (big masquerade - a person of influence and power) and many others. At the time of his death, Oliver de Coque had recorded an astonishing 86 albums. Many have wondered about the origin of the French-sounding name Oliver de Coque. To this the maestro had no answer. It was just a 'guy' name that stuck. He was a consummate musician, who set out with a message about the beauty of life. His music was for dancing and he was happiest when everyone was drawn to the podium in unrestrained ecstasy. Most of his lyrics were waxed in his native Igbo language and contained philosophic insights into the nature of society. He, like Osita Osadebe, another highlife maestro, engaged in praise singing, often eulogising the self-made millionaires who often promoted the Peoples Club. He was a kind and generous person; his life was dominated by his music and he used his art to make many people happy; his luxuriant, bushy beard was his trademark. In addition to his being crowned as the King of Highlife by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, in 1994, Oliver received in the same year, an honorary doctor of letters in Music from the University of New Orleans in the United States. He was recently presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Performing Musicians and Employers Association of Nigeria (PMEAN). He also held the chieftaincy title, Ikemba of Ezinifite. An international artiste, the man with a unique voice and magical fingers will be sorely missed by his many fans that include the high and the lowly of Nigeria and others all over the world. |
