Ileke-IdI:Do not act like that. . . Now behave yourself small one. |
Ileke-Idi has resorted to tribalism again. |
lari03:SW will continue to put Yorubas for president. I often hear from Yorubas that an Igbo man will never be president. No other group says this but the Yoruba. There is no such thing as Southern unity. There can be SS/SE/MB unity, but not with the SW. |
Who controls all the oil blocks? It is not the Ndigbo. But a good amount of Yorubas and the North. SS people need to stop being stuppid and think for once. Haven't the people of the SE shown that we support the SS? If not for the Igbo, Goodluck Jonathan would never have been elected. Remember that. . . |
Why is everyone thinking any anti-ACN is me? Is fear of EzeUche, the beginning of wisdom in this section? ![]() |
Gbawe:Until the SW sheds its feudalistic approach to politics by not voting for a tribal based party, then we in the East shall not listen to your hypocritical words. No matter how sweet they sound. ![]() |
It is a pity someone is trying to insult my intelligence knowing full well, I have a sharp mind. ![]() Anyway, we shall see if the SW will be punished or not. It is simply mere speculation, but one thing I know is that the East is open for business. ![]() |
Look at you all get upset. After you mock the Ndigbo, and then you expect us to treat you all like friends? ![]() There are no friends in politics, only permanent interest. |
Gbawe:Who is being vengeful? I am supporting a focus on economic prosperity in the East and Niger Delta. Do you have a problem with that? For far too long, the SW, has benefited economically from Awolowo trickery. Now it is time to correct past wrongs. |
seanet02:Yes. . . O baje titi or however you say it. ![]() |
President Jonathan cannot forget the tribalistic remarks of Tinubu said about him. The SW people only care about themselves. They do not care about others and definitely do not care about the Niger Delta. Remember it was an Igbo who created the 'SS' political region. ![]() SE/SS onward progressing! |
Gbawe:Jonathan is a child of the East. He knows the wrongs that have been committed against the region. His region just like Igboland has been mistreated by people from not only the North, but the SW as well. It is time to correct past wrongs. ![]() |
jason123:I cannot wait. ![]() |
jason123:Now you all are trying to preach Southern Unity? GEJ did not need the SW lackluster support. The SE, SS, and MB is now the true power. The East has been cheated for over 40 years. Now the time for our ascendancy is NOW. ![]() Preach your Southern unity to someone who cares. |
seanet02:Your predictions have been false so far. May they continue to be wrong. ![]() Enjoy being in the opposition. The SW was destined to be in the opposition. |
seanet02:Really? Fear of EzeUche is the beginning of wisdom I see. . . I am not the OP. |
You can't eat your cake, and have it too. ![]() I remember the Yoruba braggarts were stating how the SW would be rewarded for their lackluster support of GEJ and how the Igbo lose again. Who is losing now? ![]() |
Maybe it is for selfish reasons, but I wouldn't mind seeing more commerce for Port Harcourt. ![]() I support punishing the SW POLITICALLY. To the victor go the spoils. |
I gave up on the cretin. He is the Mr. Cork of the Politics section. |
Seems like the Igbos are winning, because we are not in opposition. ![]() |
Ileke-IdI:Who told you the national cake does not develop regions? We all know how good the infrastructure is in Northern Nigeria. And the infrastructure of the SS states of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River state are improving each day. Enjoy the opposition. I prefer the SW in opposition to be honest. Since PDP is still a national party, it is good to hear that the Igbo will have greater say in national matters. We are the true king makers in Nigeria. This is a good opportunity for the Ndigbo to correct past wrongs. The people of the SW needs to realize that there is nothing wrong with voting for ACN locally. Actually, I advise you all to do that. But at least make sure that you all have a say nationally, because remember that the FG remains supreme in the current Constitution. That is why I feel it was a bad move. |
Why isn't there much discussion about this topic? I remember a couple of weeks ago, some of the Yoruba braggarts, were saying how the Yoruba would be rewarded for their lackluster support of PDP, while the Igbo were simply being used. Well, I hope you all know that you cannot have one's cake and eat it too. ![]() |
Someone needs to pay for this horrible event. |
Tears as corpses of slain ‘corpers’ leave Bauchi Written by Ishola Michael at www.tribune.com.ng TEARS flowed yesterday (Saturday) as the remains of the nine corps members that were killed in Bauchi State in the post election violence that erupted on April 18 were moved from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) mortuary to their various states of origin for burial. The corpses were evacuated by officials of the National Directorate Headquatres of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Abuja, led by Yakubu Jok, a Deputy Director of the NYSC. The officials arrived at the mortuary around 6 am and waited for the corpses of the fallen heroes to be dressed in their full regalia before the nine ambulances took off. It was an emotional scene that elicited tears from the eyes of those who witnessed the evacuation. The nine corps members were Adewumi Seu (Ekiti), Teidi Olawale Tosin (Kogi), Adowei Elliot (Bayelsa), Okpokiri Obinna (Abia), Gbenjo Ebenezer Aypotunde (Osun), Ukeoma Ikechuwku Chibuzor (Imo), Nwazema Anslem Chukwuonyerem (Imo), Adeniji Kehinde Jehleel (Osun) and Akonyi Ibrahim Sule( Kogi). Seven of themj were killed in Giade Police station where they had ran to for safety, but the rioters overpowered the policemen on duty and killed the corpers with machetes and sticks before setting the station ablaze. Three of the slain corps members Adowei Elliot, Ukeoma Ukewchuwu Chibuzor and Aknoyi Ibrahim Sule, were Batch A members who just left and Orientation Camp in of March and were not allowed to travel because of the general election. |
Gbawe:Let us see how Igbo leaders do at the state level. Chime will continue to improve Enugu state. Peter Obi, he shall remain a question mark. If Okorocha wins in Imo state, that state shall be progressing. I feel that T.A. Orji knows that he is hated, so he will try to at least improve the state and at least leave a lasting legacy now that Abia does not have to worry about the tyrant Orji Uzor Kalu and his wicked mother. That is why I am optimistic about Abia, so do not worry about my state. And I do not know much about Martin Elechi to comment on him, but I do not hear good things about him. Igbos can be seen nationally now, which has been missing since the 60s. That is why I am saying Igbo ascendancy. I have come to realize when the Yoruba are ascendant, the Igbos are not and vice versa. We can't have both a Yoruba ascendancy and an Igbo ascendancy. It has to be one or the other. The SW should at least have kept one foot in the door. Vote for ACN locally, but for national politics, vote for PDP. It is as simple as that. ![]() |
In terms of development Akpabio is really developing his state better than any other governor in Nigeria. He loses points the way he deals with the opposition. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-511531.0.html |
Good WikiLeaks: US govt sets Akpabio as model From MURPHY GANAGANA, Abuja Wednesday, December 15, 2010 Photo: Sun News publishing More Stories on This Section The United States of America has identified Akwa Ibom as a state to be studied closely, as a way of helping Nigeria rise from its current five per cent growth rate to about 20 per cent per annum in order to meet the vision 2020: 20 target. In a secret document leaked by a controversial non-profit media site, WikiLeaks, the US singled out Governor Godswill Akpabio for mention as a Nigerian leader that needs to be analysed for impact, owing to what they called his “impressive” performance in the South South state. WikiLeaks has recently exposed United States secrets on policies, meetings, etc, attracting widespread reactions across the globe. According to the document displayed on internet (guardian.co.uk), and entitled “US Embassy cables: US monitors China and its expanding role in Africa”, Akpabio was commended for infrastructure revolution and efforts in industrial development. While the opposition elements are busy at home claiming that there was nothing in the state to celebrate, Johnnie Carson, US assistant secretary for African Affairs, at a meeting with members of the international oil community in Lagos on February 7, upheld the opinion that Akpabio was an “impressive governor”. According to the document, “Governor Godswill Akpabio was singled out as an impressive governor by Mark Ward (the managing director of Mobil Producing Nigeria). Akpabio has built upº infrastructure and industrial development. He is one to watch”, Ward reportedly said. Other southern governors that were also highlighted include Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi and Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole. The report also said the Chevron Managing Director, Andrew Fawthrop, was the one who suggested that United States Agency for International Development (USAID) should do more for the South South states. Similarly, the US Consul General (CG) in Lagos, Joseph Stafford, III, was said to have added that “it might be possible to team up with security assets of the IOCs (International Oil Companies) to arrange diplomatic trips to the Niger Delta” ostensibly to assess areas of assistance and further involvements. This, according to the document, was a way of establishing strong presence as Carson reportedly expressed disappointment that the United States was currently experiencing “huge loss” in Nigeria. Comparing Nigeria of 1969/1971 and now, Carson was quoted by the document as saying, “with the Nigerian population at 50 million, the United States was better and more broadly represented in a Nigeria that produced almost no oil.” Commenting on the current situation, he said, “with an embassy in Abuja and a consulate in Lagos, the United States has experienced a huge loss in Nigeria today. The United States must get back into Enugu and Port Harcourt. No presence means no access, which leads to no influence. Without influence you have nothing,” the document added. |
NGO Commends Akpabio’s Development Strides A Non-Governmental Organisation, Global Integrity and Justice Network, Rivers State Chapter has expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides of Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State. In a statement, the president of the body, Uduak Patrick Ekanem and the Secretary, Mr. Owoidihe Abasi said the people of Akwa-Ibom at home and abroad are very proud of his administration, and enjoined him to keep the flag-flying. According to the statement, the construction of an International Airport, rehabilitation of schools, hospitals, the multi-purpose Governor’s Lodge, scholarship to indigenes, the access roads, intra-city taxi scheme, world class tropicana centre, the flyovers, potable water schemes, electricity projects, school libraries and the micro-credit scheme are among projects the Governor had so far embarked upon. It stated that the peace loving people of Akwa Ibom State would continue to support him on his human and infrastructural development aimed at transforming the state into near haven. “Global Integrity watch therefore is a special way commend Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio and his deputy, Engr. Patrick Ekpotu for transforming Akwa Ibom State from a civil service economy into a model vibrant economy”. The statement further said that they should not be deterred by activities of opposition, describing him as a square peg in a square hole. The organisation also lauded the law-makers from Akwa Ibom in the National Assembly for their selfless, tireless, dynamic and selfless sacrifice to our dear country Nigeria and Akwa Ibom state in particular, adding that they salute their doggedness and cooperation with the Governor to move the state to greater heights. “Their joint efforts in initiating and executing people- oriented programme for the state has brought about renewed sense of unity among the people”, the statement said, and enjoined them to maintain the spirit. http://www.thetidenewsonline.com/?p=4533 |
vicenzo:That is true. At least keep one foot in the door. Why not vote PDP senators and ACN for governor and other local positions? I don't think that was a smart move on the SW part. It shows ethnic politics played a role in their vote. |
I will have to say Amaechi, since I have been impacted by his development. Since I am a resident of Rivers State, I can see how he has changed the state for better. He is hundred times better than Peter Odili who was simply a crook. What is a hindrance to Amaechi is these corrupt contractors. They steal money and he has to find them and make them work. That is why Amaechi's new policy is to hire foreigners because local contractors cannot be trusted. People need to stop talking about governors if they never been to the state. Akpabio has definitely developed his state in terms of infrastructure. Akwa Ibom's infrastructure development is unrivaled to any state that I know of. The man may be a tout when it comes to dealing with the opposition, but he definitely knows how to improve his state. |
This was my prediction. ![]() SW in the opposition again. Now PDP needs to get rid of OBJ and I shall be happy. I see a true Igbo ascendancy again. |
