When Africans stop trying to say we descend from a Semitic group. We should be saying they descended from us, because Africans are the original man. We did not descend anyone! angry

A revolution is different from a secession war. A revolution involves all parties irrespective of the differences. The poster is calling for secession. I keep laugh when he includes the SS in this Biafra thing. Beaf and I have had the discussion and the truth is, why should we join an biafra or Oduduwahuh Southern Nigeria is the best option, if not, then One Nigeria it is!!!!!
What do you call what is happening in Libya? The country is split actually, between East & West. The people of Benghazi seceded from Gadaffi's regime. The way some of you people use your minds is appalling. No wonder the educational system of Nigeria is failing. It is failing the youth.

Jason, as Beaf already told you, you don't represent the SS. I represent the SS more than you ever will, because I have actually lived in the SS and due to my heritage. You actually thought the Itsekiri would allow their oil to be used by the wider Yoruba.  grin Beaf had to shut you down and people do not even consider you Itsekiri. Even though I do not know much about the different group intricacies West of the River Niger, I definitely know about the groups East of the River Niger like the Kalabari, Ikwerre, Ogoni, Ibibio/Efik/Annang, Eket etc.

The fact that my Ibibio side are staunch Biafrans should be enough to shut your mouth. Anything East of the River Niger are united. Why do you think we have coalesced behind GEJ?

Abeg go sidon for corner. Do u think you are the only one from SE or SS? Who even told you the ND is ready to share their oil resources with u if u start a succession war? Or are you planning to coarse them?  Instead of people like your to continue campaigning for more recognition of Ndigbo in the scheme of things at the centre and advocating for good governance at all levels in our States u are busy 'flying kites'.

A Biafra with endemic corruption and lack of social conscience by most Govs, as we have now is not going to be better than staying in Nigeria fighting for our rights and advocating the right thing be done at all times.
Biafra does not exist anymore so why are you mentioning Biafra in this context? Igbo governors work within a corrupt Nigerian framework. Biafra does not exist so enough with using the term.

Most Igbo governors do not even have a mandate from the people, but were elected through rigging such as T.A. Orji and Ohakim. I don't know why you use these people as examples, because Igbos are already rising up against our corrupt leadership.

Some of you people do not even see reason. Look at how the world changing before you, and you still have a 1960 mindset. Nothing remains static, things change. Revolutions or conflicts will spread throughout the world.

I actually believe Kosovo has set the standard, then Southern Sudan and now the Arab Revolt.

And through your comprehension, I have not seen you list what substance Shekarau delivered that was superior.

What part of your comprehension found it wrong or offensive that he highlighted that he is part of the young generation of leaders emerging in the information age across the world, whilst our dinosuars that ruined the country want to continue taking us backwards?
Let me make it simple for you, Shekarau applied practical answers to the questions due to his background as the governor of Kano State and as a former teacher. His answers about the educational system had very good substance. If you didn't listen to him, maybe you should listen to the debate again.

And Ribadu's stating that because he is young, he should be elected should not be his only reason. "I'm young, I'm young, so vote for me," is not a clear definition to why we should vote for him. Such a boisterous young man could not articulate himself as someone who is educated. I was very disappointed in him and I had high expectations for him.

I have watched the debate, and I don't see anything of substance Shekarau had over the other two.
Then you must have a hard time comprehending. After you get past the eloquence of his words, they actually had substance.

Ribadu's only good performance during the debate was about electricity. Him saying vote me because I am young shows that he is not ready to be president of Nigeria. And Buhari looked lost throughout the entire debate and past his prime.
PoliticsRe: Reuters: Nigerian President Snubs Tv Election Debate by EzeUche2(m): 8:03pm On Mar 19, 2011
GEJ may have benefited from snubbing this debate, because we have seen Ribadu's lackluster responses and Buhari's ambiguous statements.

Shekarau, the moderator and maybe GEJ are coming out as the clear winners.

In a way, I am glad three northerners debated. It shows how diverse the region is and I have yet to see much tribalism from people when discussing this debate.

For the most part, I see many of us just want this nation to progress.

GEJ has a lot of explaining to do.

PoliticsRe: Shekarau Is Hausa - How Come He Speaks Great English Compared To Buhari/ribadu? by EzeUche2(m): 12:21am On Mar 19, 2011
Ahmadu Bello spoke very good English.

Even though Balewa is not Hausa, he is still a Northerner and he spoke very good English as well.

I have seen many Hausas speek good English better than people in the South.

One thing to keep in mind with debate stuff is that expectation management is very critical in performing well. You don't want to build yourself up too much before a debate.

Shekerau, I thought he'd just be some ordinary mallam. I didn't have high expectations. But instead it turns out he is very good.

Ribadu, I thought he'd be a thoughtful sort of guy who understands the issues and is not a one-trick pony. He has all these international awards, supposedly did something at Oxford (according to Ibime), has all these accolades. So I expected a lot. Instead I got an inarticulate, question-dodging hothead. "I'm young! I'm young!"

Buhari, I thought he'd be an ordinary mallam, one trick pony sort of guy. And that is what I got.
I agree with this assessment.

And I shared the same sentiment about Ribadu. Buhari was very cautious in his approach to the questions. I thought he would be talking about purging corruption with more gusto.

And your point? She did a good job. And she also shows that Hausa-Fulani women are intelligent as well. The North has more to offer I must say.

Ribadu and Buhari. . . is that Fulani or Hausa accented English they have?

They sound different from other English-speaking Hausas I met in Nigeria with accents.
Buhari and Ribadu have different accents.

Buhari is a clear Northern (Katsina) accent.

Ribadu has an accent that i hear from people in Adamawa state. Vastly different I must say than the accents found in Katsina or Kano state

Evil Brain:
Based on this debate I think we should vote Kadaria Ahmed (the moderator) for president. The woman did a wonderful job.

But seriously, this was a really low quality debate. Other than Shekarau, the candidates didn't really help their cases. Nuhu Ribadu was so vague about everything and didn't really say anything of substance. And Buhari was basically talking nonsense throughout.

I didn't agree with a lot of the stuff Shekarau said but at least he showed he understood the issues and his plans were the most detailed and logical of all three candidates. Also, his answers on healthcare and the Jos crisis were simply brilliant.

Jonathan is also a winner here as he has escaped the comprehensive disgrace he would surely have recieved if he had shown his face.
Kadaria Ahmed was clearly a winner. She was easy on eyes, very intelligent, and a very good moderator. I expect great things from her.

We need more women in Nigeria like her to step up and run for political office.

Shekarau is good as an articulate speaker, he should go the senate but in terms leading this country, no. See how Kano is being govern in the following links:

2. http://www.leadershipnigeria.com/ns/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=26769:Kano-tertiary-schools-one-strike-too-many&catid=33:special-report-&Itemid=151
and this make people in his state not take his presidential aspiration serious.
Buhari is apt and concise in his responses although some will struggle to follow his accent and not by nature a noise maker but his track records speak volumes. He is the most experience, he is an action person and all those who associates with him acknowledged these facts. He is my president anyday.
Ribadu is a total failure. He should and contest for local government chairman. He is arrogant, discourteous and crude. he speaks like someone contesting SUG election. Immature.
Even Fashola has been having problems with strikes. Yet, people still like Fashola Kano is nothing special. Just, because people are on strike does not discount the good he may have done for his state. You can't please everyone.

Anyway, I still want more information about Shekarau.

I actually have no allegiance to any political party. I just like candidates.

PDP in Abia has lost my support, by have T.A. Orji as their flagbearer.

However, I was a GEJ supporter, but I am kind of upset that he didn't participate in the debate. Ribadu will never get my support. I can't say about Buhari.

But Shekarau has really impressed me. That is why I need more information about him.

The arrogance that came out his ignorant mouth was something that does not do the ACN any justice.
