Most Nigerians in the Diaspora do not know what is happening in Nigeria. They sit oblivious to what is happening. They enjoy Nigerian parties, say how proud they are to be Nigerian and act like nothing is wrong. They go to the posh areas of Lagos or go to Abuja and believe all of Nigeria is like that. Nigerians in the Diaspora are not connect to what is happening in Nigeria. I am pretty sure that most Nigerians do not know where Jos is located in the map unless they have family in the region. |
alj harem:Ama nna gi chiekwa. |
alj harem:First of all, what concerns you with Igbo affairs? Just hush your mouth as me and my fellow Igbo brethren brainstorm future endeavors. Maybe you will see the inner workings of how we Igbos think. |
FG urged to expedite action on S-East roads By Tony Edike ENUGU–THE South East Governors’ Forum at the weekend urged the Federal Government to to deal expeditiously with the reconstruction of federal roads in the zone especially the Enugu-Abakaliki Road; Enugu-Onitsha Expressway; 9th Mile-Markurdi; and Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway among others. These roads, the governors noted, are the critical arteries for vehicular movement within the South East and between the area and other geopolitical zones of the country. They expressed regrets that these important roads had become death-traps as several auto accidents occur on regular basis claiming the lives of travellers. In a communique issued at the end of their meeting in Enugu, the South East governors also condemned last Friday killing of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP gubernatorial candidate and other persons in Borno State. They however charged the Federal Government to “exhaustively investigate” the unfortunate incident and ensure that those behind the bloody incident were exposed and prosecuted. The communique which was signed by Chairman of the forum and Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, appealed to the Federal Government to direct accelerated work on erosion sites in the South East zone. The governors wished ailing Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu now undergoing treatment in United Kingdom quick recovery. Obi disclosed that the communique was a product of an exhaustive deliberations on matters affecting the geopolitical zone especially the state of federal projects sited in the area. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/01/fg-urged-to-expedite-action-on-s-east-roads/ |
alj harem:Contrary to what you believe, most Africans are not as barbaric as the ones you find in Northern Nigeria. |
Maybe in North Africa and the Middle East. Not Sub-Saharan Africa though. . . |
Nigeria has over 150,000 of its citizens, which is about one-tenth of Gabonese 1.7m population, living in that country. They are mostly Igbo, Urhobo, Ilaje and Ijaw traders who dominate Gabonese commerce, and its fishing industry. According to Samuel Aiyedona, Nigeria's envoy to Gabon, the entrepreneurship of Urhobo, Ijaw and Ilaje fishermen alone contributes over 600,000 tons of fish to Gabon's fishing industry annually. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2010/08/the-day-nigerians-in-gabon-caused-a-stir-over-jonathan/ |
dem_people:No, we are being realistic. Igboland too small for our inhabitants. We must continue to expand or else suffer grave consequences. We need "living space." The Igbo diaspora continues to grow daily, but with no purpose. Maybe we should look to greener pastures that are closer to home. Gabon would be the perfect area. And I have always been eying Equatorial Guinea for some reason. That island of Bioko for some time. And it is much closer to Igboland. You can continue to stay in Nigeria, but many of us want to create a nation of our own, in which we do not have to fear for our lives, because of our ethnicity. |
Obiagu1:Agreed. We Igbos are very good at settling in different lands. And we are also good at producing more Igbos. The tricky part is for us to not allow our children to forget about their homeland. We can make Gabon an Igbo paradise. If only more Igbos would listen to our expansion theory. |
Obiagu1:Well we need to spread the word. Africa can be an oyster for the Ndigbo. We just need to tell our brothers and sisters back in the "Old Country" about opportunities in other African nations. Gabon would be a nice place to set up shop. I prefer if only Igbo men would travel to Gabon. The reason being is that we marry their women, and produce more Igbo people. That is the best way of taking control of a nation. By mixing with their inhabitants. |
Obiagu1:I also heard the women are beautiful in Gabon. Maybe Gabon can be made into "living space" for Igbos as well. I have also been eying Equatorial Guinea as well. We should send an expedition of Aro settlers. Since we are used to settling in far off lands. We have Aro settlements in Cameroon that are over 100 years old. |
I agree with my brothers. Alj harem, we the Igbos of Nairaland have tolerated you long enough. And we are tired of you. Please cease and desist from what you are doing or suffer grave consequences. |
fstranger1:Yes, because you all are trying to figure out who is more intelligent than the other. Even though we are all in different fields. Education trumps tribalism any day. |
eku_bear:Let me find out that you are a Maryland alumni. ![]() I might have to change my attitude towards you. And yes, Maryland is very friendly to us Nigerians. Even though I sometimes wish I was in Texas due to the weather, I have always been comfortable in Maryland. |
PhysicsMHD:The man is probably of Arab descent. He never associates Nubians or Black Africans with the Ancient Egyptian civilization. He once stated, "Egyptians are not Arabs and are not Africans despite the fact that Egypt is in Africa." I never liked the guy. Seems like he has an Arab agenda with Egypt. |
alex101:I am tired of waiting. 43 years is too long! Too long indeed. Sometimes you have to take it! Power recognizes power. If you are strong enough, you take it! I tire 4 these political games.
|
fstranger1:And I am a proud Terp! Thank you very much.
|
eku_bear:Berkeley or Stanford? That is the question we must ask ourself. ![]() |
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. -Mahatma Gandhi The laughed at a certain someone, until he improved his nation's arsenal, ripped apart a particular treaty and declared war. I will not name this person, but history always repeats itself. |
My Struggle - Main thesis: Nigerian Peril How the Nigerian state has been able to keep the Igbo people in bondage. Our region used as vanquished territory. And always reminded of our defeat. Nationalist vs. Secessionist Christian Igbos vs. Muslim Hausa Igbo elite vs. Igbo people Igbo liberals vs. Igboist Conclusion: The rise of a new Igbo nation-state on the ashes of Nigeria. |
"We Have Met The Enemy and He Is Us" |
I am seriously contemplating writing a book called My Struggle. ![]() My main thesis will be the Nigerian Peril. And I will blame Nigeria, the Igbo elite and oil for keeping the Igbos in bondage. I already know my chapters. |
Obiagu1:That is starting to seem like the best thing I have heard in the while. Nigeria is no country for the Igbo. Time for a mass exodus. I will help as many Igbo migrate from our homeland which is conquered territory. No wonder the Igbo diaspora is growing larger each day. |
Onlytruth:If only this was true. But even the Ijaw have this false bravado now that one of their own is in the top spot. You can even see on Nairaland how the other groups are mocking the Igbo. You put too much trust in GEJ. I know Ijaws are our brother, but now they are even claiming Port Harcourt. Everyday, we the Ndigbo are being mocked. Our people are being slaughtered like lambs in the North. We are being schemed out of the political process. Our region continues to be neglected. I see dark, dark, dark days for the Ndigbo. We need a charismatic leader to lead us to the promise land! |
Obiagu1:Don't you realize our leaders has sold us out? We Igbos are being schemed out of politics. Wake up smell the coffee or tea. The writing is on the dammn wall. How long do we have to suffer these indignities? How long must we be mocked by our enemies? This is starting to piss me off. What the non-Igbo wrote is true! To hell with Ohanaeze! To hell with these fake Igbo leaders! The OLD GUARD needs to be dealt with. |
kcjazz:Presidency for the Igbos is out of the question. The way things are looking, Igbos wont even see the presidency in 20 years. That is a terrible price to pay. And do you actually think the restive Igbo population would like that? It is like we are being backed into a corner. We all know what happens when an animal is backed into a corner. That is when the creature becomes more dangerous. I believe this is an insult to the Igbo race. How can a major ethnic group be made to suffer such nonsense? Has the Igbo people become weak? What happen to our courage? |
Another slap in the face. We Igbos have fallen. A proud people being forced to beg. It is too much for me to stomach. And some of my brothers and sisters are acting like nothing is wrong. Forget smelling smoke, our house is on fire. |
eku_bear:Yes, the U.S. owes much of its intellectual capital with the defeat of Nazi Germany. The Germans really had the intellectual capital to compete with the allies. . . or even surpass them. Some of the weapons the German scientist came up with, could be considered frightening. I am surprised Hitler didn't use them to their full potential. The Soviets and the Americans knew this, and that is why they tried to grab as many German scientist as they could. Even though many of those scientist were involved in the atrocities committed by the Nazis. |
Since, my business school is in the top 30 in the United States, maybe I shouldn't comment. College Park is not on anyone's radar. Ha ha ha ![]() |
I hail thee! Arise o Yoruba nation! Fight for Christendom! |
Lord help Egypt now! The Muslim Brotherhood should stay far away from Egyptian politics. |
Cleric warns northern Christians against reprisals By SAM EYOBOKA AS sectarian killings continued in Plateau and Borno states, creating fears in Christians in other parts of the North, the national vice president of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in charge of South West zone, Bishop Wale Oke has appealed to Christians in northern parts of the country to resist the temptation for reprisal in retaliation for the several violent attacks against them. The presiding bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Church, Ibadan, who was reacting to calls by some church leaders on northern Christians to return fire for fire, said such measure is against the teachings of the progenitor of the Christian faith. Rather than retaliate, Oke sued for non-violent approach to the ceaseless sectarian attacks on churches and Christians in Jos and Maiduguri especially and the North as a whole. According to him, violence cannot conquer violence, stressing that the global church still carries the burden and scar of the crusaders’ violent campaign to reclaim the city of Jerusalem several years ago. “When you don’t fight back, you put a burden on the conscience of your attackers,” Oke said, “you are on a stronger pedestal. That burden wears them out and they feel silly. But when you fight back, the spiral unending cycle of violence will degenerate into a full-blown war. “If the Church fights back, it will breed hatred, bitterness and hindered prayers. Violence will put blood in your hands and you cannot approach God with such blood on your hands. It will hinder evangelical efforts because you cannot win a man you attack,” he continued. Urging Christians to resist violence with love and forgiveness, the bishop pointed out that the moment the “Church begins to resist violence with love, forgiveness and mercy, then the violence has a terminal date. At the end, they will become tired of hitting you; their conscience will burden them.” Oke further charged northern Christians to launch, what he called ‘vigilante groups’ and be security alert, while also moving en mass to avoid falling prey to violent attacks from religious fundamentalists who now go about the whole place in motorcycles seeking who they would slaughter. He therefore called on the Federal Government to improve security in the North, warning that the ceaseless crises could snowball into a big war if the government does not now make deliberate effort to arrest it. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/01/jos-crisis-cleric-warns-northern-christians-against-reprisals/ |
