Politics › Re: Dangote Deep-sea Pipeline To Boost Nigeria’s Power Generation By 12,000mw by FabioPeter: 10:07am On Jun 14, 2018 |
Reference is the gas required for generation, infrastructure is a major aspect and doesn't exist at the moment. You can have 100 litres of fuel to take you from Kaduna to Abuja but you need a car to put the fuel. We also have a challenge of a grossly undersized distribution network infrastructure, our current distribution network can barely support 3,000MW. Untill that is upgraded it will be wasteful to invest in power generation. |

Tinubu’s option: 1. Support the administration that shortchanged him and hope for a bigger slice if APC wins again. He will have to stick it out with Saraki, El Rufai, Oyegun, Fashols etc Deliver SW and PMB’s core North Sign agreement on slots that will be allocated to him, including senate president.
2. Form a new party with strong alliance with a popular northern politician, zone presidency to North and vice to south west. Be prepared to lose SE/SS and Buhari’s stronghold core North
3. Join forces with PDP and form a mega party with president ticket zoned to North and vice to SE Huge funds from Niger Delta state to fund campaign Low influence and possible betrayal |

LaudableXX: MMA2 was built from scratch by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), which carried out that project as the country’s first successful Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) concession, in the aviation sector, after the domestic terminal of the old Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, went up in flames in 2000. The concession was awarded to BASL which funded the entire project, without govt funding in 2003. That airport opened for operations in 2007.
The story is different from that of the new bus terminal, which was conceived and built with govt funds, using govt agencies and contractors.
Most govt owned buildings and projects are hardly ever well-maintained, due to inadequate funding, poor monitoring skills and poor adherence to maintenance programmes.
So it is really too early to compare the management and operations of MMA2, which was built through a BOT arrangement, (and is currently being managed by a private firm), with the management of this new bus terminal, that is still solely under govt control .
Anyway, I hope they eventually take your advice and concession the bus terminal to an experienced private management firm, to run and maintain for a fixed number of years. I also hope they will not repeat the Visionscape fiasco, when they eventually decide to engage a private company to manage it. I am optimistic the government will do the needful. Lagos is progressive. |

LaudableXX: Do you know what I am bothered about? The ability of the state govt and its agencies, to sustain and maintain this terminal over a long period of time, to the high standards of cleanliness and functionality, shown here.
Such an edifice would soon be launched with fanfare, and even fancier speeches. In 9 months, it would take the grace of God to meet this same terminal, in this pristine state. It is likely to have been defaced, distorted and riddled with all kinds of nauseating activities, that are capable to ruining the purpose it was originally set out to achieve. We need to put more effort into sustaining such projects or terminals, for good optimum performance. A few metres from this bus terminal is MM2, a terminal for aircrafts. Its by far bigger and trickier to manage but guess what, the moment it was built and commissioned it was concessioned to a private company and its a success story till date. Not only has it been properly maintained, it has also been improved to meet with best practice and standards, it attracts good patronage and in consequence good financial returns to government. Same should happen with this bus terminal. |

Moses India Iwobi could switch off for most part of the game but they mostly have their moment of brilliance which could lead to a goal
No one comes close to being a replacement to Ndidi and Mikel, they must be fit.

herroyalcutenes: The super eagles definitely need/deserve better scouting what are Elderson, Omeruo, Stephen Eze, doing in a friendly 2 months to the world cup?
In a country with a population of over 170million. Is that the best we can offer? What a shame? Kelechi and Iwobi should have started from the bench. This is the time to invite and test more players did nigerian's know Ebuehi or Idowu were good enough unit they were invited and tested.
One would expect Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis (WF, CF),Cyriel Dessers (WF , CF) , Derik Osede (DC), K.Otigba (DC), Fanendo Adi (CF, ST), Azubuike Okechukwu (AM, MC), Sunday Stephen (DM, MC) (whom benched iniesta at spain U19, U20, U21), Ryan Sanusi and of course the (king) Simon Kalu (AM, WF).
Thank God Mikel Agu was not invited his intercepts are so low and man marking so poor, for a centeral or defending midfilder. Rohr wants to play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, but he has never invited a center forward (CF). If he takes this squad to the world cup Nigeria would be disgraced.
If Olarenwaju Kayode was continually called up to the Super Eagles without having a single shot on target then Fanendo Adi (Adi was signed permanently by the Portland Timbers on 23 June 2014. Where he became the club's fourth ever Designated Player) (Google Designated Player if you do not know the meaning) would do better.
Even Anthony Nwakeme would do better, if given more call-ups, He is so good at the Europa League.
Or is it Ighalo that would lead Nigeria to the Quarterfinal? Impossible.
Remember in 2014 Nigeria was the lowest scoring team in qualifying, and scoring was a big problem at the world cup. That is likely to repeat itself.
The midfield and the attack (NO.9) are Super Eagle's weakest links. Is Kim K’s butt real or fake? |

I believe anyone who comes online to canvass a view, must do his research thoroughly before putting pen to paper, or fingers to the keyboard. Putting up a post, is not an excuse to peddle untruth, confusion, propaganda or ill-informed opinions. Respect can only be earned, not given. And it comes by way of speaking the truth, and bringing forth facts. I agree with the government tax initiative, I did a simple analysis/case study to show that its affordable, I advocate for accountability on the part of government, I suggest how money generated can be ploughed back to the communities. All of it is my opinion. If you think Messi is better than CR7 and I think otherwise, does it make me a sycophant, liar, clueless? I doubt you will use these derogatory terms if you have a similar argument with a random person at your workplace. Please respect people, they have earned it by being fellow human and more so by having a decent conversation with you. |

LaudableXX: No, I am not bitter. I am simply being factual. You on the other hand, are just being clueless. You have not been able to answer one single question that I asked you, in my last post. You even claimed the state govt would provide light, water, security etc as a result of paying LUC, in your previous post. I had to remind you that paying LUC, does not absolve anybody from paying for electricity and water as these are additional expenses. Now, you are claiming rates have been reviewed. Even after the review, the LUC charges still remain high! The govt still wants to collect LUC charges on unoccupied houses and empty plots of land. How silly! I am not a garage tout, I engage in argument were respect is mutual. As per your questions I have my opinion/argument and it’s definitely not fact , you do not have to agree. I do not mind sharing but this discussion must be civil. Speak to me the way you want to be spoken to. |
Properties › Re: The N589.3M House In Omole As Valued By LASG For Land Use Charge by FabioPeter: 5:24pm On Mar 18, 2018 |
LaudableXX: Cut the crap and stop the guesswork. The problem is NOT trust, the problem is the deceit of the govt. Each time they increased rates, they ended up using it for something totally different from what it was meant for. In some cases, the money found its way into private pockets. How many houses exist in Lagos, and how many of them are valued at 25 million? 10%, 20% or 40%? Nobody knows. So why use 25 million as an average sum? Did you do a survey? Nobody has come out to say they were billed such a low rate, which you quoted up here.
The fact is that govt is the one calculating the market value of such houses, and working out the LUC charges which owners of such houses are to pay. Why? And who told you that govt will allow you to make monthly payments? Did you see a vision in your dreams? The charges have been increased by over 400% and landlords have been given less than 30 days to pay the full amount. Will they steal to get that money, to pay to govt?
Someone who was billed 78,000 last year is suddenly being billed almost 400,000 this year, and you are one of those blindly defending such ridiculous rates? More than half of the money collected in previous years, were siphoned into private pockets. The same Ambode claimed he spent 12 billion naira buying diesel to power 31,466 street lights. When those in the industry calculated the true cost of diesel, it was discovered that he could not have spent more than 2-4 billion naira on all those street lights. What happened to the remaining 8 billion? Nobody knows.
So please stop sounding clueless, it doesn't suit you. You obviously do not own a property in Lagos. I asked you a question in my last post which you carefully dodged: "Don't you realise that in addition to LUC, you would still pay extra charges for any electricity you consume, and pay for any pipe borne water supplied to your house, by the water corporation? Is it Lagos State govt that provides you with electricity?" Am still waiting for your answer...! You are too bitter to engage in rational debate. Anyway the rates have been reviewed and payment can be in installments. I wish you well. |
