According to reports, the deceased reportedly set himself ablaze at the back of the hostel building before he was found by his lodge mates. It was also gathered that prior to the incident, the deceased had allegedly told his cousin that he wanted to give up the ghost the previous day due to stress. He was said to have borrowed N200 from the said cousin this morning to buy something and locked him up in the room. Subsequently, it was discovered that he used the money to buy petrol to commit the act. He was rushed to Ihiala General Hospital where he was rejected and then rushed to a hospital in Nnewi where he died. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was not flown to India as being speculated, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu’s lawyer, has said. The lawyer said he visited Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday, adding that he would visit him again on Thursday. Wano is the fourth Nigerian national to be sentenced to 10-hear rigorous imprisonment for smuggling her*in in Mohali this year. She was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) based on a tip off in May 201,8 near the old barrier in Phase 1. STF had recovered 280 gram of her*in her possession. Residing at Krishna Puri in New Delhi, the suspect was on her way to Mohali to supply the dr*gs to her customers. She was coming to Chandigarh from New Delhi, where she resides, to supply dr*gs to her clients when she was stopped. Wano, who is believed to be in her thirties, told the police that she came to India in August 2016 on a medical visa and later started working in a beauty and hair salon. She, meanwhile, started the trade of carrying the dr*g from New Delhi and smuggling it to Punjab and neighbouring areas. The young, delinquent senator was quoted in the mass media as describing Governor Fintiri as “a small man in a big office”. Shortly thereafter, he left the PDP to the ruling APC. However, his defection was greeted with wide condemnation considering how he had initially described the APC as “a group of crooks”. As things stand, Abbo is said to be fighting multiple battles with almost all senior stakeholders of the party at the state and national levels. Disclosing Abbo’s current ordeal, a chieftain in the party and former national vice chairman, Mustapha Salisu, said Abbo was on his way out. He said, “This man (Abbo) is a disappointment to many Nigerian youths. “He is not fit for a revered institution like the APC or the Nigerian Senate. “The other time, he was calling Governor Fintiri all sorts of names, vulgarly saying the governor was a small man in a big office. “For God’s sake, between Fintiri and Abbo, who is a small man in a big office? A fighter jet operated by the Nigerian Air Force has mistakenly dropped a bomb on a Nigerian community in the Lake Chad region. Twenty people said to be fishermen reportedly lost their lives during the incident. According to People’s Gazette, the airstrike happened on Sunday in Kwatar Daban Masara but information about the incident had been slow to circulate due to obsolete communications infrastructure in the area. It was learnt that community was about 50 kilometres from the Borno State capital, Maiduguri. The attack came barely two weeks after the Nigerian military bombed a community in Yobe, also in Nigeria’s war-ravaged North-East, killing at least 12 people while many others were seriously injured. The Nigerian Air Force had initially denied dropping a bomb on Buwari village but later admitted and promised an investigation after Governor Mai Mala Buni publicly acknowledged the incident and commiserated with the victims. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has been conducting air raids across the region since 2009 when Boko Haram insurgents launched attacks against the state. In 2017, an air force pilot dropped a bomb on a village in Rann, Borno, killing dozens of civilians. The military apologised and promised a thorough investigation but did not make its findings public four years on.
