Business › Re: What Business Can You Do With ₦400k In Nigeria Today? by Falconx47: 9:03am On Jan 23, 2022 |
Abiboss: Good day Nairalanders.
I am a fresh graduate, but I don't want to work under someone. Would like you all to share your business ideas/plans, if you get 400k now what will you do with it? Hope you know that "not wanting to work under someone" is not good enough reason to start a business? You'll be working under your customers, and even the applicable authorities in any business you choose. That being said, your choice of business should really depend on your abilities and personal environment. Do you live in a city or a village where a lot of land is available to you? What kind of education do you have? Did you learn any handwork? What kind of needs do people around you have? What do you think they'll gladly pay for, if you sell or offer the service to them? All these things are what will guide you towards what can work for you, not some random internet suggestions, everyone who comments on this post would be talking from their perspective and their reality, which is very different from yours. For me, agriculture would be the best for the budget you have, divide that money into 2 and use one part to try out something, like vegetable farming or even poultry. If you're in a location where you have access to water and can do them cheap and off season. You can also find other businesses with low barrier of entry, little competition and reasonable turn around time. Ignore all the people here telling you crypto this, and online that....get rich quick syndrome is worrying our youth and trust me it never works. |

oyinade11: Pls house, I'm in a dilemma, My TEF result is better than my IELTS because of the IELTS writing module which I am still battling with( IELTS writing really humbled me). If I use my French as my 1st Language, I will have a higher point, however I read in a group where someone asked if she could also use her French language result as her 1st Lang and some person's said that English is Nigeria's official Language, therefore you can't use French as the 1st Language, some other persons said it doesn't matter, you can use French. So I'm quite confused. Has anyone used French (TEF) as their 1st Language and English ( IELTS) as the second successfully? I don't want to make any mistakes please. Still practicing my writing for IELTS though. Both French and English are Canada's official languages, I believe you can use either of them as 1st language. |

etyno: Hello everyone, I have an issue that has been disturbing my mind all day and I know the gurus here would be able to give an answer to this
Some years ago, I applied for a US visiting visa which I was denied. At that time, I was running a part time small baking business. In order to make it look like a big organization, I claimed it was a full time job and also claimed a salary of 200,000 as well as some non existent job description like recruitment of staff ( I know this is a very foolish thing to do, I was wrongly adviced and I regret this deeply). As it is, I will be filling a Canadian PR application soon and I have to mention this part time business in my personal history but this time to truthfully state it is a part time home baking job.
My concern is, hope this would not be an issue if IRCC decides to share information with the US and notices the difference in job status and address? Pls note that I am not using the baking business to claim any point, it's would be in my personal history. Also I have been doing this side baking hustle for 10years till date even though I work full time in a bakery as a baker. Someone said it is a red flag( don't know if this is true)
I also want to know if someone can be doing two or three things concurrently when writing the personal history. For example, I was doing my Apprenticeship while serving NYSC and I was working full time while having my side business. Won't they overlap? What is the best way to go about it pls.
Pls do not ignore, I need valid answers. What can I do pls For Canada PR application, there are details you don't really need to explain down to the little bits as they don't need it. Answer truthfully to the section where they ask if you have been refused a visa before and state the reason why you were refused (reason given by US embassy at the time), and that's it. Do not fall into the self-guilt of explaining how you lied, and all those, they don't care, if the US rejected you for not showing enough resources or enough home ties for example, that's all you need to spill, that's if IRCC even ask you for the reason, do they? If they don't ask for the reason, just declare that you were once refused and move on. For your personal history, state that you have a part time baking business, that's very understandable, no needless explanations. As for overlaps you have to manage them, for example if your apprenticeship is for the baking skills and it's not part of the full time job you're claiming points for, you can bulk it up with the part time baking business, even if you owned the baking business from your NYSC days until now as a side/part time business, I don't see the problem. |

I was told that I wasn't normal, that an average man must indulge in one or two of those vices.
I will people to share their opinions on this. You're very normal, so long as your reason for not indulging are based on your principles and you respect the choices of those who do without prejudice. Saying a "man" must do any of those things is awful falsehood, but remember not indulging in them doesn't necessarily make you a better person, nor should it be worn like a badge of honour. |

phillip2: Okay thanks I think I've understood the process and what I want to do.. But lastly,
I want to include my bank statement for NYSC and also my current 6months bank statement also. For NYSC,we received first salary in camp and not directly into our bank accounts.
If I want to say this in my reference letter how best can I word this.. Because I've come to a conclusion to say in reference letter that I was paid by the government (nysc) for working in so and so organization for a year with annual salary bla bla bla...
It is okay to include in d reference letter that its nysc and include bank statement or keep mute on nysc, noting that if I'm to keep mute on nysc then the bank statement would be nullified because of the 11months inflow..
Pls I need urgent and good advice, make I nor go fumble oo..who ask Naem nor de lost,so FAM pls come to my rescue once more,I nor get money for agent. You don't want to fumble, but you're just confusing yourself the more. Read on IRCC website what they require for you to prove your work experience and let that guide you first and foremost, a reference letter is all you'll normally need, every other thing you choose to add to it is purely based on your discretion, and wisdom is never to add any extra information or document to your application that will not be explicitly helpful. Further proofs such as statement of account or payslips are only requested if the officer has some doubt around your work experience, although the Accra office made this a routine at some point, requesting it from everyone who's file lands there, so people thought, why not just include it upfront, I don't know about now. To give you a context on why there is controversy around NYSC experience... The same Accra visa office has in the past posited that based on their local knowledge of Nigeria, that NYSC is an intern level employment and don't believe a corper performs the duties listen for a profession, say a doctor, a pharmacist or an Engineer for example. I am thinking this should not apply to teaching, but that's just my opinion. But this why most people choose not to mention NYSC at all. On wording your letter, someone I know worded hers thus: "...that she taught computer science to the students under the national service scheme" fullstop, no too much story, then stated her job duties and other relevant information with the letter format found on the first page of this thread, this way she could add her bank statement and that sailed through. So, I will strictly admonish you not to confuse an officer who doesn't even know what NYSC means with too much story or by all this "I was paid by the government", no one cares who paid you. Why not get a good reference letter stating only the information required by IRCC without an unnecessary additions, and only be ready to supply bank statement if they request for it. The 11 months thing is a reason why you don't have to add that bank statement unless it's requested. You should also know that unnecessary letters of explanation are more of problems than solutions and mentioning that you were paid by hand makes you a suspect, from other people's experience. A friend also had the issue of the school where he served not having a website or email, so we simply added the location of the school on google map, took pictures of the school buildings, signpost, badge, main gate and compound with the students in them and added them there so that they can at least be found upon a google search. The reference letter also contained the principal's phone number. His eligibility was passed long ago but for the current stalemate in the process. Gather all the above and decide what's best for your situation, but the moment you start explaining too much, or sounding incoherent in your application, you are already giving room for doubts, and one last question, do your have other experiences besides you NYSC? |

phillip2: I'm about using NYSc experience for FSW.
I've read in some comments that we shouldn't write on the reference letter that its NYSC experience, others however are of the opinion that its okay to say that you're been paid by the scheme instead of your direct employer.
I taught in a government sec skul.
How best can I approach this?? Get a reference letter directly from the school where you taught, on the official letterhead, stating all the information that IRCC stipulated and signed by the school authority. That's all you'll need. No one needs to know who paid you, you were a teacher at the school for one year, period. |

Did you go to school to learn or copy others? Even if you let the whole school copy your books, it doesn't mean you'd end up good in life, nor does it mean those people would remember you if they end up in better places, I saw it play out when we finished from school, some people that were mostly used as exam meal tickets were quickly discarded and life went on... Honestly, this rhetoric needs to be stopped, it was until I schooled outside the country, the students didn't understand what it means to copy another's work, under any guise. |

This makes a good front page material. Allow me gist you mine. When i was in Junior Secondary, something was common back in the days. Teachers used to engage some of the brightest students to mark scripts with them. I wasn't aware about this until i began to notice anomalies in my scoring.
Normally, i made friends with one or two persons who would come back and tell me we started marking, you scored this and that. But when the scores finally came out, i was always scoring 10 - 15 marks lesser than the scores the script markers informed me about.
It wasn't until after a long while we figured out that some of the other brighter students who assumed I was competition for them were " filtering out " my papers and finding faults here and there, deliberately bringing my papers out for deduction of points. This went on for along time and I eventually gave up on passing by school standards. I stopped paying the attention i was to academics and started to read outside the syllabus and beyond the scope of what we were thought
After schooling some years back, when i started my first company, some others from the same school with the same mindset came and made series of attempts to have me killed. I was almost dead but survived after some attacks
Today nko ?
Pulling people down doesn't translate to personal success, people should channel the energy they invest in pulling people down to lifting themselves up
Today, i don't work in a big company, i've setup series of projects and on my way to owning my conglomerate. What you explained is totally different from letting or not letting someone copy their books, pulling people down is terrible attitude. |

littyprincess: What are you even saying? Is IRCC delaying the applications for no reason? Aren’t you seeing that we are in a pandemic? Aren’t you hearing about the numbers of people that are dying? Abi the pandemic nor reach your side? She said what she said. It’s not fair but if you’re going to complain all day, you might as well withdraw your application so you can have peace of mind and ‘certainty’ as you call it. P.S nobody should even tag me. I know it’s not fair and that it’s also frustrating but I’m tired of adults grumbling all over the internet. All these complaining isn’t going to make the applications process faster. While I won't grumble over the internet like you termed it, but for some it's the only way they can blow off some of the pent up steam, maybe not everyone is good with handling anxiety as you are, wouldn't it have been better if you tried to pass on your own coping mechanisms to them instead? Little trivia, at the end of 2019, before the pandemic, IRCC were only able to process around 47% of the FSW applications they received within the 6months timeline (this was according to IRCC themselves), seems to me the backlog have always been coming, only a matter of time. The pandemic made things worse as well as provided a convenient excuse for escapism. While it may be futile ranting about things one cannot control, don't go around defending their honor like they're blameless. |

When you look the good business and transaction you have done, over the years, you see that you have wasted your time, you have had different opportunity to make your life wealthy, but you justlet it slide because you want to have a good record, but along time line no money to finance your life. And you have the opportunity again, is it wise to do the dirty deeds or not.. regarding the consequences that follow. Depends on how dirty you're talking about, money as a concept is dirty, but willing to kill people dirty is a different level from say profiteering and underpaying/using workers kind of dirty. It's not possible to become dirty rich without doing all you mentioned above, you just find fancy words and justification for them and probably have other hands do it on your behalf, but it is what it is. |

And do you have any idea how some people manage to stay back after studies? Because I have heard many people on here say they return back after studies. in Which country does one have the likeliness to stay back after studies, and can one get a fully funded scholarship (covering both traveling cost and maybe monthly stipends)for his/her postgraduate studies in such countries? This is the only thing that's keeping me motivated to put in my best in school. Thanks in anticipation. I do not know a thing about joining the army, traveling abroad the legit way takes considerable resources unless you're lucky enough to get some form of scholarship.
